Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 rake in over 20 million - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

http://www.talkandroid.com/240426-samsungs-galaxy-s6-and-galaxy-s6-edge-handsets-rake-in-over-20-million-pre-orders/
in the article it says 15 million for regular s6 and 5 million on the edge version .
does this mean the regular s6 is the more popular device ?
I do realize these are carrier pre orders.
I for one am stuck at which to choose , been on the galaxy line forever and had every release so far.

Cricket Samsung Galaxy S6 - 50% off! Unlocked bootloader? Comparison to Galaxy Alpha?

I see that Cricket has the Samsung Galaxy S6 for $249.99 (along with the S5 for $199.99 and the S4 for $99.99). I am debating whether I should buy the Galaxy S6 or the Galaxy Alpha G850M (around $250 at Target after discounts). I've had quite a few Samsung phones (Galaxy Epic, Nexus, S3 and S4) and became tired of the same design language and cheap feeling plastic. The phones I've had in the past year (Moto G LTE, Padfone X and Amazon Fire Phone) have been great phones in their own rite, however, locked bootloaders and very minimal aftermarket support have made me want to go back to a phone that's more popular with aftermarket support (e.g. Cyanogenmod, Zeiss VR One headset and so on). I've played around with the Galaxy Alpha earlier this year, and I really do like the size and quality of it- however, the variant may have a locked bootloader and the Marshmallow update isn't planned as of yet. Phone size is a huge deal to me, as trying to hold larger phones have definitely caused hand cramps and I prefer something smaller (4.7" screen or less) for one handed use. I've also considered the One Plus X, however, the phone not having all the LTE bands for AT&T/Cricket has been a huge drawback for me.
With that being said, can anyone help me decide the following-
In my situation, would the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy Alpha be a better choice?
Does the Galaxy S6 from Cricket have an unlocked bootloader so I can flash Cyanongenmod in the future?
Thanks!

No, the S6 does not have an unlocked bootloader, Samsung is notorious about keeping their phones locked.

Sprint and T-Mo versions have unlocked bootloaders. Sadly since this is a Cricket S6, and Cricket is owned by AT&T, this will have a locked bootloader. Also if you think AT&T are slow with updates, Cricket is even worse.

To second this, I actually bought the unlocked US variant that was on sale on Amazon simply because the update issue on Cricket was so atrocious. Still sitting on 5.0.1 with no update time table in sight.

Persuade me to get the s6 + which model

Hey there,
I am looking at the xperia Z5 aswel as the s6, I am able to get both for roughly the same price. I am torn between the two and I feel I need you guys to persuade me to sway towards the s6 asmote and more reading on the z5 has made me want to get it instead of the s6. I also need help on which model I should get, these are the only ones available to me for the same price. An S6 32 GB in topaz blue, sapphire gold, an edge version in 32gb black sapphire or a 64gb normal s6 in black sapphire. Thank you.
Forgot to mention that I've twice tried to purchase the s6 edge and both times experienced serious problems/issues, I am currently in the process of receiving a refund from my latest s6 edge purchase. It seems like god doesn't want me to get an s6 lol.
at this point i would recommend you waiting for the upcoming s7...it should be release within 1 or 2 months and will be superior to everything avaiable right now

I would but money is an issue for me. I have a good used phone supplier so that's why I have those choices, an s7 would be more than double of what I can afford to pay.

I... Can't... Even....
Rumors are claiming no Plus version this year, unless they're released at a later date.
Judging by the s7 edges size and specs can't imagine why they'd bother making a plus. A new note will probably be the next release

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there wont be a s7 edge plus. Unless they make it with a 6" which is highly unlikely.
Seems by making a 5.5" screen, they are attracting users from both s6 edge plus and the s6 edge.

I disagree.
Samsung official said in an interview just one day ago that they want to shorten the cycle of their flag-ship releases to twice a year.
Either this means that they will bring the + versions in 6 months, or they will start offering Note series as another flagship to a larger audience (of Galaxy S series buyers).
It's so easy to just interim update existing models. It's the cheapest option for manufacturers and requires very little expensive re-tooling changes.
Also, it's a way for them to keep the prices and margins high throughout the whole sales year.
So yes, I think there'll probably be + versions towards late summer, early fall.
As to what the changes/differences will be, I don't know, but I doubt it'll be anything that big.

Note 5 Depreciation due to Note 7 debacle

I owe about 300 bucks on my note 5. I wanted to have 2 phones, 1 for VR/backup and one as a primary phone. thought about selling my 64gb version for 500 bucks last week but now... due to everything that's happen, seems like the "Free Market" has now priced the Note 5 lesser than what it was, selling now for about 350. Great steal but this is sad for us Note 5 users who thought about selling it. I can either keep it or use the Jump program to get a different phone. . I do have a Note 7 v2 but haven't decided if to return it or wait or what. I can't root it. Can't do much with it like I can my N5. Only reason to keep is will be for the micro card slot.
Anyways... I'm stuck between keeping my Note 5 and what to do with the Note 7.
Anybody else thought about selling their phone?
Hope our note 5 resale wont go down too much. My wife has the s7 edge and we read that it has lots of problems with wifi, bluetooth and a few other things and now the note 7 was a total piece of crap. I think samsung is going down hill with their products, I have a 65 inches smart tv and had to replace the screen on it under warranty but now the screen is getting bad again but its not worth it to pay $3000 to change for a new one. I also had a few galaxy tablets and had charging problems with them.
I think samsung's quality is not like it use to be and its too bad because samsung has really nice products
Here they are sold below $300, 64gb or 32gb (only tmobile or SM-N920W8) at&t, sprint or other models are more cheapers. S7 flat, under $300, s7 edge under $400.
The only one that does not depreciate is the iphone. The 6s plus is above $400 (only gsm models) that's too bad

Galaxy S8 pre-orders in South Korea hit 720,000 units in a week

Another record bites the dust - the Samsung Galaxy S8 pre-orders hit 720,000 units for the first seven days. The previous best was 400,000 units in 12 days for now discontinued Galaxy Note7.
Koh Dong-jin, Samsung Mobile president, said, that the Galaxy S8 “will be the first device to regain customers’ trust and love. The market response is better than expected.” The pre-order process will continue until Monday. Industry experts suggest that the number could reach as high as 1 million units, topping the Note7 2,5 times.
Few of the new Galaxy S8 features that catch the attention are the in-house AI assistant Bixby with a dedicated button, the lack of home button with the fingerprint sensor moving on the back and a fully functioning iris scanner, adopted from the Galaxy Note7.
Prices start from $750 for the Galaxy S8, while the Galaxy S8+ is a hundred bucks more expensive.
