Vodafone Branded Touch Pro

Hi All,
just got my hands on my new Touch Pro from Vodafone UK.
Is there a way to change the color of the clock and the home screen menubar color?
These are now nice and vodafone red and i would like them in black.
device info:
ROM version: 1.90.161.5 WWE
ROM date: 09/03/08
Radio version: 1.02.25.19
Protocol version: 52.33.25.17U
Now I have to say that I'm a complete NoNo on all this stuff - seen people putting the above info in so thought it might help.
If anybody can help me with this, please do so in absolute laymans terms.
Thanks for helping a novice out
D
got a voda model myself today,
I falshed the Rom with a modded one and its all black now.
much better.
What did you do to flash your Rom and did you have to re-set any Vodafone connection settings after?
(I got a Touch Pro on Vodafone yesterday)
Great to know that it's possible - could you explain the how, where and what, please.( where to get the ROM, how to flash it, etc, etc, etc)
I wouldn't even know what a " modded one " is mean, where to get it, etc, etc, etc.
help me out please
thanks,
D
I have a Vodafone Touch Pro but have not flashed it yet because of the warranty issues, I have however installed a black theme that someone kindly uploaded.
For the life of me I cannot find the original link but the theme was:
HTC Blueish Black TP Full CasMO.theme
IT can be applied with the Diamond TF3D Config tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405749
Whoever created this, it looks great and will not invalidate any warranty later of if you need to send it back to Vodafone.
Cheers,
D.

Many Thanks D. I was thinking of doing this rather than flashing.
2 Questions tho.
On your theme you have used does the internet Tab have the large globe picture when you open the Internet tab?
Also do you have black Text on certain screens?
On the Weather settings pace and on the 5 day weather screen I have Black text on the black background which is a bugger.
Many thanks!
Louington
Hi Louington,
No, I can't say that I have black text on a black background anywhere on this theme and I think it matches the phone much better than the stock Vodafone theme. I must say that this is was someone else's work that I found but still can't find the original thread, sorry. Credit to that person because it's fab work.
I've posted some screen shots, what I like about this is that you can always return to the default theme if needed.
Cheers,
D.
Hi - just turned my screen black - far better, thanks all.
1 thing - on your screenshots the Windows bar - top and bottum of screen are black. That didn't happen with me. have now via the themes in settings selected " Vodafone business" which is grey. How do I get this black as well?
thanks again.
D
Thanks for the update D.
I tried the theme you suggested and couldn't really get on with it.
(Didn't like the black clock or the blue highlighting)
The theme that I tried first was the HTC Black theme, I'll post some questions in the main theme's topic to see if i can find an answer.
Also what program did you use to take the screenshots?
Hi Louington,
No problem, I like the black clock, it's also nice in the car mount at night, doesn't distract you like the Voda white theme.
The screen shot are taken with My Mobiler (freeware)

Hi Dieb,
Sorry, not sure how to change the colour of the top and bottom buttons, I'm sure someone else should be able to assist.
Cheers,
D.
wow lots of vodafone touch pro users
just for reference heres a link to the origanl rom:

Background white, instead of black

Dear all
Apparently it seems that nobody (on different smart-phones threads and also here on Galaxy Notes) knows how to change the default background from annoying black (very bad for my ageing eyes) to a more traditional and relaxing white or light colour (as for iPhone). I mean the background for
- general settings
- phone
- contacts
etc.
Can somebody please share his ideas?
thank you
Saulo866
Some more details:
My device is a galaxy notes GT-N7000
Android version 2.3.6
Baseband: N7000XXKL8
Kernel: 2.6.35.7.N7000XXKK9-CL725676
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XXKL8
As I am NOT a techie, I would appreciate very much some automated solution. For example, to download and install a force-white-background-theme or some 3rd party application to do the job (paid apps are OK).
Thank you again
Saulo
I've not heard of an app or script that can do that, but the MIUI Rom (available under the android development section) has black text on white background.
Thank you Holgalee.
I still cannot find that link for that ROM, can you please point for me?
2. Do I need superuser?
Thank you again
Saulo
Just in case you didn't know, AMOLED uses less battery when displaying black than it does when displaying white, because the pixels are "off" in black and "on" in white. I suspect that's why black is the default.
I know, but for my eyes the black background it is really no more bearable. too streessful..I prefer to have my battery drained up earlier but be able to use this worthy device.

Here's a link to the MIUI ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1521630
I think I may start using it myself once it integrates the new s-pen functions from the premium upgrade by Samsung!
Thank you James.
I am downloading and then feedback.
Happy Easter
That MIUI ROM does have white background, but I lose some very useful hardware functions, like camera at 1920 30fps, etc. So I cannot use it.
I heard that there are simple scripts, to switch/invert background from black to white.
But my question is: I am on a Mac Air. Can I use adb and odino and other tools on Mac Lion OSX?
Or do I need a virtual Windows machine?
Please can someone post a tutorial for Mac users?
Thanks a lot
Saulo
If you are stock you are going to have to root first and then use PC Odin to flash the repack because MIUI is ICS. Read about it in the development forum and it will show you everything step by step.
I have windows 7 on boot camp on my mac just for the purpose of using Odin. Mobile Odin, in the market, might work, but might cause SODs too.
Hallo Andrew.
I do have Windows parallels on my Mac air. If I understand correctly, on Mac Lion OSX there are NO tools available to flash and modify our Galaxy Notes. Right?
2.
Do you have some hints on how to perform a script, on galaxy notes, to change the background on most applications, such as:
- general settings
- SMS
- phone
- MMS
etc
Thank you a lot
Saulo
Just so you know, blacks will not only save (marginal) battery juice, but most importantly, it saves your AMOLED screen from dying a premature death!
AMOLED screens suffer from a phenomenon called by some as "Burn-In" so blacks became a standard (specially on the notification bar) ever since Gingerbread (or was it Froyo?) came along with AMOLED based phones (starting with the Google NEXUS One)
You can search on Google about this AMOLED problem.
That's why there is a setting in the default web browser to dim the screen or even invert the colors on the browser, to save juice and to protect the screen!
Yep! Just like those old projection TVs of the eighties!

Thank you Rayan.
I now understand...how, in fact, could everybody accept such a ugly and tiresome black background? If what you say is correct, I have to give up my search for a whote or light colour background...
By the way, (off topic): is incoming ice cream sandwich also sporting a black background?
When do we expect an official stock release?
Thank you again
Saulo
When you guys like i can port a theme in white/red.

Actually ICS AOSP is even more black, however, it has lots of blue which is known to degrade even faster than any other color on AMOLED screens! Go figure!

Guys these changes you discuss here are very very difficult to be done and they need a lot lot of work..
I know cause in my Mixed Theme for Desire HD (my previous phone) i had inverted a lot of stuff (as HTC uses white backgrounds and i wanted them black), with the help of another Great Themer he_stheone...
So it's not a script that has to be run...
You must de-compile all framework apks and many others apks...
Then you have to find inside the code (xml files) of these apks the values that refer to background color and change it to white...
But then you will have a lot lot of trubles, as you should also change the color of text from white to black, so you will be able to read the texts all over the phone (settings, popup windows, contacts, sms etc...) and this is the most difficult part as you have to find and change the color of the text in several apps that conflict with the frameworks...
And even if you manage to find and change all the texts to white color, then it begins another problem... The 3rd party apps that you download from the Market... Cause many of them might use f.e your default background (black) with it's own text color (again black)...
I'm not say it's impossible, but i say it's very difficult, it nedds a lot lot of time and very good knowledge... And i don't know if someone that has the knowledge, also has the time to do that...
So another solution is to sell your Note and buy an HTC ONE X, cause HTC uses white backgrounds with black texts
Thank you. That is exactly what I was thinking...so basically HTC does NOT use amoled, right? So it can implement the phone on whute background.
Is this correct?

HTC is not the only one with LCD screens, in fact AMOLED screens are lowest denominator out there.
I really doubt that some company would bother to change the look and feel of Android, but if you root you can go with MIUI which uses a lot of whites (reminiscent of iOS) then you'll be closer to what you are looking for, but as someone mentioned before, apps would still be as the developer intended, either black, white or whatever.

I totally agree with you sir.
I'm 26 but the black/ dark backgroudn is stressful and annoying in the long run.
Google's own apps do have whtie/ light background themselves e.g. Gmail, Google Maps etc.
I don't understand why Google don't enable us to change the background to white/ light.
A not-too-technical but not perfect solution is 1. to install a launcher e.g. Nova or Apex and 2. to install a theme that has white background (which I don't know and I'm asking around as there are thousands of them).
The system stuffs e.g. Settings will remain black though.
As for specific needs e.g. contacts, we'll have no choice but to use alternative e.g. Contact Plus app.
Good luck sir, I'm on the hunt for Nova/ Apex launcher themes with white-background

[MOD] Black Pocket (formerly Read It Later)

The latest 4.1 update to Pocket -formerly Read It Later removed the black theme and replaced it with a grey one. As I - among many other users - prefer black over grey, both for readability as well as power usage (on AMOLED black consumes no power and thus black backgrounds are very battery friendly) I modded Pocket to be black again.
What's changed:
- article view is black with white text (in black theme)
- article list is black with white text (in black theme)
- splash screen has black background (hardcoded)
- icon has black pocket instead of red one
What's not changed:
- account setup dialog and tutorial. You only see them once so I couldn't be bothered.
- light and sepia themes are untouched
- while loading an article there might be a short moment in which the article area is all white (like in the original app). sadly I can't change that :-(
Usage:
Download the attached apk and sideload it.
I changed the package name (com.ideashower.readitlater.pro.black vs com.ideashower.readitlater.pro) so you can install this in addition to Pocket. No need to uninstall the original app first. You'll have to enter your login credentials again though.
Then in settings set the dark theme and you're good to go. 4.1.2: Also make sure the True Black option is enabled.
Future:
I'll maintain this until Pocket gets a proper dark theme.
Thank you for this - I was hoping someone talented would mod it, so thank you.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Thanks for the mod, I didn't realise Pocket had a dark theme until I saw your post
Sent from my Xperia Neo on Ics
So Pocket has just released an update (4.1.2) with a "True black" option. However their true black is not black enough for me. All it does is make the article background black, the article list is still grey and even worse, the splash screen is still white!
So until that is fixed as well there'll be Black Pocket! First post updated with Black Pocket 4.1.2.
The splash screen is fixable using a CM (t-mobile theme engine) theme, if anyone is interested in that PM me. However that one can't fix the article list background.
But I'm wondering whether everyone feels like that or it's just me? Is the official 4.1.2 (black article, grey list, white splash) good enough for you or do you prefer my all black Black Pocket?
, your version of pocket is so much better I was searching the internet exactly for this and when I found it I was elated! thank you very much and please continue to maintain this until pocket gets their act together. If it's okay with you I would like to repost this in the gnex vzw theme forum and rootzwiki? I would obviously give you the credit and link back to your work/download.
Thanks a billion for real, I run Hybryd axi0m/aokp/triage black theme and needed this!
please don't repost the APK but just link to this thread. As xda allows non-registered guests to download attachments that shouldn't pose a problem for anyone and it ensures that people get the latest version of the apk.
according to the 4.1.3 changelog one more bug should be fixed: "White flash/flicker when opening an article in the Dark Theme" However I'm still getting the white flicker, so ... FAIL!
First post updated with Black Pocket 4.1.3.apk
edit: gah, xda wouldn't let me just add the new version so i had to delete and reupload the old ones, however 4.1.2 it still doesn't want. if anyone needs that version for some reason PM me.
to annotation on saved articles
Hi, am using the regular version but i wanted to know abt few issues in Pocket app, is there any possibility of taking notes on the saved artiles, or any app which lets to take notes, annotate on the, if you can fix this would be great help for many who are using stylus phones. Please let me know if there are any other apps which have this feature....thank you
Why do I have to login again and again after quitting the app

How do i change the icon color based on a condition in kwgt?

Hi guys, im totally new to the forum and also really new in the world of android customisation.
I installed kwgt pro and tryed a few things and ive to say i love it. Theres nothing u cant do. So i got an idea but i really dont know how to build it.
Ive 5 tiny white icons on my homescreen. Id like to have them change the color based on a condition. For example if i get a new message in WhatsApp id like to have the icon in orange and once i read it it should turn white again.
Ive bought tasker so if id need that to fullfill my idea it wouldnt be an issue.
I tried it with the battery charging and non charging based on the tutorial on the kwgt website and it worked but with the icons im stuck.
As far as what icons and what conditions- id like to turn the telefon icon orange once ive misded a call and the WhatsApp icon once i get a new message.
Heres my homescreen so u can get a feel for what im talking about.
Oh- seems like ive to make a few posts before i can post pics

Status/Notification bar getting gray/overshadowed randomly

Hi everyone. I recently bought a galaxy note 10 plus. It is a huge and beautiful looking smartphone and also have a nice screen but the little cam dot is kind of annoying so I've decided to use one of that specific wallpapers to "hide" the dot. But, for no reason at all, my notification bar always turn gray, like overshadowed or something like this, losing all of the immersion of the screen with the nice wallpapers.
I've tried contact my local Samsung support but they doesn't even understood my problem.
Is there a way to fix it ?
i've tried to post a Image to Indicate the problem but I'm a new user so the forum don't let me do it. if anyone know a Way to share this and get the real situation, will help.
Thanks
