Hey Guys.
I´ve got a bit of a problem I hope you can help me with.
I am an IT-Supporter working at a company who suddenly decided to use certificates based on EAP-TLS for Wi-Fi authentication, I daily wish they would just have stuck with WPA2 it mostly resemble a nightmare here, there´s one guy knowing how everything works and he´s not in for quite a while, and the rest of us just trying to figure out how to get it to work when problems arise not having been completely in on how or why it works as it does.
Do any of you know how to set up EAP-TLS on an Android phone?
When I create a new certificate for people I send them a zip file containing the following files:
ca.der
email.crt
email.p12
email.pem
And I have a password for each .p12 file that I hand them in person.
I hope you can help me and guide me through how to get this to work on an Android phone.
Thank you for your help.
Kind Regards
Asselberghs

I've tried to search around to see if any apps are being developed in this area. In specific we use Checkpoint VPN-1 to connect to work, which uses a hardware key token as authentication. I'm not sure if this protocol is fairly standard and therefore a generic app could be used? Or if it has to be made specially.
I know they have a windows mobile application here: http://www.checkpoint.com/downloads/quicklinks/downloads_sr.html#scmobile
I'm sure porting it would be no easy straight-forward task, but if it is I hope to try once I receive my G1.
If something like this exists already please post too!
It looks like using debian on the G1 will allow a vpn connection, is there anything else to know about using a hardware key like this one? Sounds very promising...
I also need a VPN client on Android
I install vpnc on debian, but that doesn't make sense
at least there should be a proxy setting for all the applications
Found this as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=447230
Using openVPN and stunnel
Unfortunately for me, I don't think I can use static config settings as the connection password continually changes and is supplied by the hardware key.
Bump,
Any other ideas on using hardware tokens with the G1?
Guess it's a slim hope, but checking back to see if anyone knows of any solutions for me here. Just got my G1 and looking for a way onto my work network from it.
You know when you're being worked to death when you're so busy that you need to be able to VPN into your work computer from your phone. Tell your boss he can wait until you get home when you aren't at work!
Haha! Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately I'm on call...laptops and other computers work fine, but having access right on the cell would be amazing and convenient
I've been playing with the other solutions, but still not working for me, VPN-1 isn't the most compatible thing in the world...even no support for vista x64 (virtual machines to the rescue!)
Anyway, keep up the good work on development guys. Through just the sticky posts I've been able to unlock, register, root and install JF33 all within a couple hours and without a t-mobile sim. Phone was brand new right out of the box.
Hi,
Hoping someone might be able to provide info to figure something out. I bought a acer liquid and when I go to wireless controls in the settings menu, there is no "VPN Setup" menu item. I have contacted Acer support but they are hopeless!!!
Can anyone thing as to why the VPN menu is missing? Would it be that something configure wrongly at build time of the rom/system.img? Is there something I can edit on the phones system to enable this menu?
I have been extracting system.img files for my phone rom as well as HTC Hero and the android emulators, to make comparisons and see if something is different that might give me VPN setup back. No luck so far. About to download the android source code to investigate further. Hope someone can shed soem light on the matter for me.
Cheers!

Thanks for the reply but I have google searched already. Not looking to install a VPN app when android 1.6 support it. I see the VPN setup option on the emulator but it not on my phone and the acer manual even has a section stating how to setup VPN. Yes its not there on android and Acer just never reply. hopeless.
I suspect there is no answer except acer need to rebuild and release an update but just hoping someone might have seen this before on android v1.6 and up.
This program allows you to control your mouse and keyboard from your android device via Wifi or Bluetooth. You need a server program on your computer and it is available for windows, mac and linux.
The connection process is very simple, just discover all the server available and select one to control (no IPs or any technical stuff). Plus, the app is pretty configurable, button layout, mouse sensitivity... and it also has some cool features like setting a password that will be asked for when establishing the connection.

Enjoy and post comments !!!
Great app
I just tryed it and it is great man! thanks!
No dealing with IP address or anything. Just select your computer and go. It is so smooth, plus I like the fact that you can protect your computer with a password.

Linux support
Good news!! It is now compatible with linux. You can download the server from theire web. And it works perfectly in my Ubuntu.
By the way, the programs version is already 0.9.2, you may want to update the post ;p
The thread is updated now, I also mention the linux compatibility (although I didn't test it yet). What distribution are you using? I would like to give it a try.
Cheers
I tryed it in Ubuntu 11. I had a little issue though, it didn't work on my laptop. I asked the developers and they told me that it doesn't currently support the 64bit architecture. They appear to be working on a version that will work though. Judging by theire release frequency, it will be available very soon
Installation
Hello,
I was trying to install it on Ubuntu 11 too. I run the "install" file but nothing seems to happen. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Well, my first advice would be that you read the "readme.txt". Everything is explained there. Basically, make sure you have Java installed.
Thanks, I followed the instructions in the readme file and I make it work without problems. And it works like a charm!!!!
And by the way, does anybody know if it is possible to make a direct connection with Wifi (without connectiong to a network) ?
I guess if you create a point to point wifi connection it would work. But why would you want to do that? For this scenarion, you would just use bluetooth.
Hey, when I connect through bluetooth, it doesn't ask me for the password even if I have it activated. Is it normal? Does that happen to someone else?
Great work!
I personally think it is how it should work. Through bluetooth, you have to pair your device so there is a security system already. The why to bother entering additional passwords?
I believe the developers had the same conclusions when implementing the security system.

Sure, if you put it like that it really makes sense
Thanks for the answere!
Nice app! I love it!
Thanks for pointing it out.
Wow, it is certainly better than others I have tryed, such as gmote, remote trackpad or advanced touchpad...
Great job!
They really keep updating the app. And they bring some new little stuff in each release. I hope they keep up the good work.

I didn't really mean anything, but we all appreciate an updated thread. Thanks man!
New version available! I updated the main post already.
They added an optional scroll-bar. And the best thing, they fixed some clicking bugs or something, witch means it will now runs perfectly on my Galaxy Tab (the original)!

Does anybody know how to change the MAC address on an M8 running 5.0? I'd appreciate any help you can give me.
I'm trying to change my phone's MAC address so that I can spoof a "Nintendo Zone" hotspot and get some of the freebie-goodies for my 3DS from home. The process is pretty straight forward (Make a hotspot, name it "attwifi", change the MAC to something Nintendo uses, get goodies.), but I'm having trouble getting the MAC address changed. Most tutorials have you use a terminal emulator with busybox to change it via command, or a hex editor to change the MAC address in a specific file, but I've not had any luck with either approach. Even the apps on the Play Store seem to fail. My guess is that it has something to do with Lollipop likely changing how MAC addresses are stored and used.
I've tried just about everything I could find, and am running out of ideas as well as ways to phrase the question to google to try looking this up myself. If anybody could tell me how to do this, or give me some pointers, that'd be great.
Also, in case it needs to be said: I am rooted, and unlocked with busybox installed.
Wow. I have the exact same issue. I also have a M8 running ViperOne with Android 5.0.1
Tried every app from the play store. Most say the MAC Address has been changed but that doesn't appear to be the case.
I want to connect to the Router at my workplace. I took the MAC address from the laptop that can connect to it and tried it in a few apps that can spoof it on my phone but none work.
I'd love some assistance with this as well.
Thanks in advance.
Perhaps now, 6 months later, there is a solution? anybody?

Hey XDA community,
I was wondering, if OnePlus (or Android in general) have some sort of log of apps running in system. I mean, not only apps but whole proccesses, errors and everything that's running in background. This question came to my mind because of being unable to connect to my OpenVPN server (see my post here https://forums.openvpn.net/viewtopic.php?t=34624). Now, I was able to connect to OpenVPN server before rooting my device. After rooting, i can only connect to Blokada 5 which acts as adblock on non-rooted devices (via VPN). The thing is, i can only see one VPN service in system settings-VPN (before rooting, there was Blokada 5 and OpenVPN). The exact issue of what is going on is captured via screen recording and it's posted in topic mentioned in the link.
I understand that this forum (and OnePlus 8T specific) isn't aimed for solving such an exact issue, so my question is if Android systems have built-in logging mechanism which i can access in realtime or as an exported file. I am rooted so there should be some hope for understanding of what is going on.
I hope I made myself clear, my English isn't best and I partially use the DeepL translator to choose the right words. But if you check that topic I've made, you will understand what's my point that I'm trying to solve.

I don't know the exact cause of the problem in your case, but it may be a conflict of Blokada5 and OpenVPN apps as they both use vpn or OOS12 issue.
If you have root you can view android logs with Logcat. Maybe it'll help you to resolve your issue.
Thank you for the tip with Logcat. I would say it didn't help me, although i saw some errors . By the way, I tried what seemed like most logical solution, and that was uninstalling Blokada 5 (and also OpenVPN) and then installing only OpenVPN. Finally, after reading instruction message, the system asked me about allowing to create VPN profile which I did and after that i installed Blokada 5 again and now both apps works together. I can switch between one and another without any problems. So i solved this problem by myself i guess. To be fair, without your point of view I wouldn't try to uninstall in the first place, so... Thank you
