[Q] Otg problem - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I cannot connect my sd card via cardreader through otg! It does not detect it,but it detects pen drive. It works on pc so card reader and sdcard are fine.I tried on opo and moto g but both cannot detect sd card.
Its sandisk ultra card with fat32.I also tried all formats fat,exfat,fat32.
Why does this happen? Any solutions?

Are you sure it isn't your card reader? I have two completely different OTG USB cables that I use on my OPO with thumb drives and they both work fine on any rom.

[Q] MicroSD shows up in Windows, but SD card does not?

I have a micro SD card and a SD card connected to my Transformer/dock. Only the micro SD card shows up in Windows, as the "MicroSD" folder, when connected to my PC despite Android seeing both cards. Other threads mention that a "SD Card" folder should show up, but I don't have any such folder. I'm able to copy files to it on the tablet itself and alotcat shows the system mounting/umounting it when I insert/eject the card. Trying the cards one at a time (SD inserted and micro SD ejected) also didn't help.
I'm running the latest FOTA, completely stock.
I've had this same problem. SD card is inserted in the dock, but when hooked up to my computer, its not accessible. MicroSD card is, but not the one in the dock. Same for External USB devices hooked up to the dock. My guess is that they aren't mounted via the mtp. I tried rebooting the tablet with the card inserted and hooked up but still no go. Running Prime 1.3 and newest firmware for the keyboard.

Bootable Micro Sd card not recognized

Hi,
I created a bootable micro sd card and used it. Now I want to use it as a normal sd card, but my Mac is not able to recognize it.
I need the micro sd card to be recognized so that I can format it and use it.
Thanks and regards,
Ramanathan

[Q] How do I format my 64 gb sdxc without removing it from the phone?

Hi. I have a 64gb sdxc sandisk sd card. I want to format it to fat32. I've read on the net that you can do it only if you have an sd card reader. Unfortunately I don't own and sd card reader. Is there any way I can format the sd card directly while connecting the tab to the computer without the help of any sd card reader?
Thanks.

Yes I did it this way.
You'll need the app SGS3 Easy UMS (available here at xda)
and the PC program guiformat.
The first one is needed so that the PC can see the external SD Card as a mass storage unit (and not as a Media Transfer Protocol). In this way you can format the external SD Card through your PC.
The PC Program did the formatting of the external SdCard to fat32 ok for me. Probably there are other PC programs that can do fine the same.

sd card can't format or do anything

hey guys! i bought an sd card 32gb Sandisk. i inserted in my phone and was working. i put the card in the usb adapter that was with card and then on my pc. i started transfering my files but all of a sudden it says that i need to format the sd card and that the sd had write protection. i tried to format the card but it says windows was anaible to complete the format. i tried to remove the protection using cmd but nothing happens. i tried sd formatter, and the disk management. still nothing. and my phone doesn't recognize the card anymore. i mounted it in my camera and said the card is not ready. and when i try to format i have ntsf and exfat as options and not fat32. oh.. and when i used sd formatter, although the card is 32gb it said 64gb the first time and when i retry it it said 1tb!! lol! and now it says nothing at all. just blank.
i don't know what to do... help me...
thanks in advance!!

USB OTG mount microSD and USB at the same time

Hi there!
I have a USB OTG device that reads microSD cards, SD cards and USB drives and I want to use this device to copy files from microSD to USB. I can do it copying to the phone storage or the microSD in the phone.
Do you know if its possible to mount both devices at the same time?
Big maybe. Have you tried using ES File Manager and copying between each storage devices??? I would think it would show up all at the same time considering you can have two partitions on the same SD card.
My card reader doesn't have USB, but I was able to copy a movie from a CF Card to MicroSD while the reader is plugged into my phone.
