Can Internal phone data be transferred from a device with a broken screen? Read plz - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Firstly, lets state the obvious. I know it can however I have ran into a few road blocks that I cannot overcome. This is what I know:
Phone: SGH-I727R Code named "skyrocket". Screen is broken however the buttons still light up indicating the phone has power. I have had this device for years.
Problem: When I connect my device to my computer, nothing indicates the phone is connected. I assume the "USB bugging" feature is turned off.
Solution: I have researched endlessly and turned up that this might be possible using Android Studio or Android SDK Tools by using a code to enable the device. I am not familiar with any type of coding and my fear is i might do more damage then good. The only reason I am trying to transfer the pictures is my best friend passed away recently. I know this device is quite old and nobody can probably help however I feel I should try.
Anything that can be done would be much appreciated.

If you can boot into download mode flash the latest twrp recovery using Odin. Look for a .tar.md5 file, see Vincom's sticky in the development forum. From twrp you'll be able copy files from your device to your pc.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app

Thank you for your input. Much appreciated.
I downloaded Odin and the twrp file ( I belive). . I do have a question though. Wouldn't re installing the firmware delete the entire device?
---------- Post added at 08:01 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:42 AM ----------
Also, I now have been able to see a icon come up. The icon indicates my phone however it only shows SGH-I727R, "Digital Camera" however i cannot access this.

You say you now have screen activity?

Hi uwannabananababy,
Thank you for the input. The screen does not power on however using the USB cable, my computer manged to pick up the device. The device is not labelled as a Hard drive but rather a Samsung Camera labelled as my phone model. SGH-I727R. I have loaded Odin however the program does not recognize it. I also downloaded Kies which does show it connected but it locks up on the connecting screen.
Could this mean that the USB connection is working (USB debugging mode is active). Maybe the device has a password that needs to be entered.
Could somebody explain what twrp means.
Thank you

Twrp is a custom recovery. It replaces the stock recovery and gives you more flexibility to work with your phone rile booted into it. The latest version shows mtp to work and you'd can copy and paste files from your device.

Okay first things first you need to install a custom recovery. You can get everything you will need from the bottom most portion of opening (first) post in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785999
1. What you need is to download and install this to your PC (ODIN 1.85 .. Direct Download) section 7, very end of first post. Extract the .zip to somewhere on PC and open ODIN. No phone plugged in just yet.
2. I tried TWRP recovery and couldn't get phone to mount so I used this recovery, it's all good. (philz_touch_6.48.4-skyrocket.tar.md5) section 5. I will give you the button combination so you can blindly navigate to the right section of Philz CWM recovery and get you mounted to PC. But not just yet.... Bare with me.
** 3. DO NOT! CHECK "REPARTITION" IN ODIN! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! >
GETTING PHONE INTO DOWLOAD MODE(aka odin mode):
DO NOT TOUCH THE POWER BUTTON FOR THIS PROCEDURE.
Download mode is NOT the same as recovery mode
a. Remove and Reinsert the battery, have usb cable inserted to computer usb port but NOT to your phone until step (c).
b. ATT PHONES - Press and keep down both Volume Up and Volume Down keys simultaneously.
ROGERS PHONES - Press and keep down only the Volume Down key.
DO NOT RELEASE THE VOLUME KEY(S) UNTIL INSTRUCTED TO DO SO IN STEP (d)
c. While still holding the volume key(s) down insert the USB cable into your device.
The phone will turn itself on when usb cable is inserted. * DO NOT TOUCH THE POWER BUTTON *
d. When You see the screen warning you about installing a rom w/a yellow triangle RELEASE the volume key(s) ** (Stole this bit from Vincom's guide)
4. Now we are blind. We did not see part d. from above. But press volume up to enter Download mode. Odin should detect. Yellow com detects.
5. Click PDA button on Odin and find the file (philz_touch_6.48.4-skyrocket.tar.md5) you downloaded already. (And only this.) Click start. Flashes the custom recovery and phone will likely succeed and reboot. Mine did, I'm am doing this to my phone right now to be 100% sure.
6. Power down, aka remove battery. We will get this yet, lol.
7. Now we want Recovery mode, battery back in, usb attched to phone and PC. So button combo {{Vol up and Vol down and then power button on phone. Wait. We get a vibe, hold all 3 buttons for a leisurely count of 1 then 2. Let all 3 buttons go.}} We now should be in Philz CWM recovery after a few more seconds. PC will confirm with a sound and driver loading activity, did for me anyways.
8. Here's the blind magic, do this exact and it should work perfectly to mount your phone to PC. Be sure not to touch the screen all during these steps {{ Volume UP 1, 2, 3, 4, times, Power button. Volume UP 1, 2 times. Power button. VOILA success!!! }} I just tried this 4 times, it will work. PC sounds a connection, and my phones SD shows up in Windows file explorer, well both my SD's I have a micro inserted as well. That's about as close as I can get you friend, you'll get those pictures one way or another. Plus all of this is totally safe to do, and no you won't lose any of your data trust me. I even intentional messed up my first Odin flashing of the CWM just for a test, as this phone is no longer useable (charging issue) and I didn't care either way, been there, done that many times before. Thank you Samsung for Odin! Take 2 it went as planned. Success. Hope this helps, it has to!!!
---------- Post added at 02:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:27 PM ----------
All your files will be accessible with your PC as if it were a regular old removable USB drive or the likes. Camera photos are located within DCIM folder then inside Camera folder. Actually you can now save/move most everything from your phones SD storage to your PC.
## An MHL device and TV could actually be an even easier way about all of this now that I'm thinking about it. Network transfer/Bluetooth the files, slower of course. ##

^^ good stuff, i didnt have the patience to go through all the steps to write it out, good man.
will link this post in the 1stop for future reference.

Cool, no problem at all. Heck, tidy it up if you want (NVM had me a DUH! moment, LMAO), as it's a disaster compared to all of your awesome guides. (Best I've seen anywhere actually.) :good:

Hi, vincom, long time since I've posted on one of your threads. Thanks for the continuing support of this rather old gem.
Since this is a thread discussing broken screens, I thought I'd post here, since that's kinda my target audience.
What I'm wondering if is someone has an old I727 sitting in a drawer, collecting dust because the screen's broken, that they'd like to sell cheap (or give away??? ).
My problem is the opposite, I've managed to kill my motherboard on a phone with a perfect screen. I'd like to get the phone working again, because my girlfriend has a phone that--horror of horrors!--only makes phone calls and sends SMS messages. Being in Mexico, the only motherboards available here are for the International version, which is completely incompatible with the 727.
Also, if you have some important data on the phone you'd like to recover, I'd be glad to grab that off for you and send it back, assuming I have a successful install.
Let me know if this describes you, and we'll chat.
Thanks in advance!

Finally unstuck but now autoresets

My phone did not want to boot this morning after swapping SIM-cards twice. Tried many things, including a hard reset, but nothing worked; the phone kept getting stuck in the second boot menu (with the fancy coloured X). When I tried to leave it it took a few minutes but the phone finally booted.
But I lost all settings (not files luckily) and came into an unknown screen. Had to setup a Google account but could not do that before accessing for internet. All these things work again, but when I reboot the phone it seems to reset again and I have to start from this unknown screen again.
Does this sound familiar and what can I do about it?
By the way, the phone currently runs Android 2.3.6 so there are no official updates (right?).
I've been messing around a bit and the "unknown screen" seems to be the new initial Android screen, in which you can setup the phone (Google account etc.). Strangely enough the phone keeps resetting and I cannot change anything. Even formatting, either through Windows or the boot/root menu doesn't help: all files that are on the phone right now are kept. I cannot add new files either.

First of all, do you have a Nexus S, or Nexus S 4G? Is your bootloader unlocked? If not then I suggest you follow the guides in the development section. I can't put links due to still being 'new' on here. Find a recovery, flash via fastboot, boot into recovery and flash a rom to your liking. Or you can find some system images and flash via fastboot. I hope this helps. If not, then you can pm me and then I will show you how.

Thanks for your reply. I did not unlock the bootloader. I've seen many difficult topics and don't really know where to start.
I just found out that the phone not necessarily resets to a previous state (this morning) but seems unable to write anymore. I just hooked it on to my PC, removed a file, disconnected, and upon reconnection the file was there again (whereas Windows really removed it).

I am uploading some files to Dropbox now. Its gonna take a bit. Then I will guide you through, step by step. Sorry for the wait. I know you want to get your phone back up and running. In the meantime, I recommend doing some reasearch here on xda. Don't be afraid of Google, either. Google can be your best friend.

Read it first. It might come across tricky or hard, but its not... Once you do that to unlock bootloader and root, I would advise you to download either a stock rom, or any others you may feel comfortable with. Look around. There are plenty here on xda.

Thanks again . A friend of mine was trying to help with bootloading and stuff, but it's somewhat obscure. He said that chances that it's software or hardware are just 50:50.
Got me kinda frustrated yesterday evening but I still have warranty on the phone (have it for half a year now). Problem is that it might be a hassle, because of a conflict between the shop and the provider. But that should work out.
In the meantime it would be nice to try and get it running again.
Strangely enough, the phone drained itself this night. I made a basic install yesterday and left it in standby. This morning, when I checked the phone, it didn't do anything so I thought it finally passed away. Now that it's hooked to my computer it's charging, and it seems to start from 0 (starting with 0 bars of the battery).
Via your link I came to the following guide, which worked partially (cannot link it here).
age tee tee pee ://jaxov.com/2011/02/how-to-root-android-2-3-3-gingerbread-on-nexus-s/
I got up to step 13, where it seems that I cannot find the .zip-file because the phone doesn't store new files...
You can wait for warranty, or you can follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=947950&highlight=odin
Odin will flash it back to stock without the need to put files on your sd card. Just download the odin files, open up odin, put phone in download mode, and happy flashing. You have to be careful with odin, though. Follow the guide. If you need help, then let me know. I can probably do it remotely for you.
Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow (topic doesn't seem so clear at first glance).
According to this guide, I have to start in Download Mode. I can access this by holding Volume Up + Volume Down and then plugging in the USB cable. It works, but the phone will not be updated and I'm stuck with the "Downloading..." message. Also, Windows Device Manager sees a Gadget Serial, which I cannot update. Google didn't allow for a clear answer (Samsung PC Studio 7 didn't work).
I also think I have an i9023, because it's the European version (which SHOULD be with an LCD screen).
By the way, I just tried formatting through Windows (FAT32) and if still connected the phone indeed seems to be empty. But as soon as I disconnect USB storage all files (on the phone) are back. Nothing special because the problem is very consistent.
Update
Alright, I finally got the drivers properly installed (also to work in Download Mode) and found proper Bootloader/PDA/CSC files (i9023EUR) for Odin and managed to do the flash update (however Odin I used is called I9003_Odin3 v1.82, don't know if that is a problem).
Then I should do a factory wipe, which works (Bootloader -> Recovery -> Wipe), but if I explore the phone I can see that all data is still present (all images, music, etc). So the hard drive still seems fixed.
Please help me out, guys...
Suggestions? Or unfixable and should I send it to be repaired?
I found out that I did not post my last update. I managed to flash with Odin, and I can get into the Bootloader menu to wipe the phone's data. I can, in Recovery Mode, also see the hard drive and it seems to be empty. That is, the phone fails to see it.
When I reboot out of Recovery Mode the phone gets stuck at the Google logo and that's it..
Ok, I will send the phone to be repaired. The phone is now unrooted and does not go further than the Google load screen.
Do you have fastboot? If not then download below.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/64632729/platform-tools.zip
Extract contents to desktop. Open up a command prompt:
cd Desktop/platform-tools
Put phone in bootloader mode. In command prompt type:
fastboot oem unlock (only if your bootloader is still locked). If its unlocked then download this
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/64632729/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-crespo.img
Put in the platform-tools folder you extracted earlier. Then type in command prompt:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-crespo.img
Sometimes the flash might say 'fail' if that is the case then just boot the recovery image by typing:
fastboot boot recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-crespo.img
Now boot into recovery and flash either a stock rom, stock rooted rom, or whatever your desire is.
This should work. If not, then there has to be a hardware issue with phone and go ahead and send it in for warranty. Let me know if this helps.
Flashing Clockwork did work, but if I understand correctly I have to copy the stock rom to the phone and load it in Recovery Mode? When I connect the phone to my PC it is recognized as an Android Phone (and even as a Nexus S) but the drive it shows up as seems to be recognized as empty ("Please insert a disk into Removable Disk (E.").
So what do I do?
What is sort of promising is that it indeed was capable to flash Clockwork. So the memory is not completely stuck. However, when I do a format, still nothing happens (phone isn't formatted).
Update: I am able to mount the phone to USB and I can access the phone via Windows. However, I can still not format the SD Card (which is of course internal) or put files (stock rom) on it. Are there other tricks to flash a stock rom? If not, it does indeed seem to be that I cannot flash a custom/stock rom because the drive of the Nexus is frozen/broken/whatever.

[Q] Failed Valhalla Final flash

Hello all, any help would be greatly appreciated.
My wife's phone has been rather buggy so I decided to root and rom it. Rooted the phone with the oneclick method. Moved on to getting CWM up and running (it is what I'm familiar with from my G2x). I liked what I was seeing with the Valhalla Final rom OP and decided to give it a try. Read the instructions to install but things have steadily gone down hill.
I am comming from stock. I did a NANDROID backup. Wiped, wiped, wiped and then flashed the ROM. I do believe that I just didn't read carefully enough where it says I "must have pre-installed kernel" . When I rebooted I got a pixelated screen unreadable screen. There was a voice in the background describing what was going on but I plugged along and waited the 5-7 minutes. Figured if it didn't work correctly I would just go back into CWM and restore my nandroid backup. However I can no longer get back into CWM or the recovery prompt that comes before CWM. I just get the Galaxy S 4g screen which then goes to the weird pixelated screen and then it continues in a boot loop.
I tried to follow this debricking thread but got stuck a couple of times. First, that I can't find the boot.bin and sbl.bin files. I google around and found this but the download link no longer works. Does anyone have the boot.bin and sbl.bin files handy?
Also, the Zadig program to install the Heimdall driver doesn't show me any driver options. I suspect that this is because Heimdall or Zadig had not run on the computer before I had the phone properly connected. I saw that it was the Samsung Composite driver that was being asked for. Not sure if I found the correct one but either way it didn't work. I was unable to get the computer to recognize the phone (also phone would continue on its boot loop, also it doesn't change anything whether I am holding down the volume buttons when I turn the phone on or not).
I have stayed up half the night looking for something but am wondering if I just straight up bricked the phone and need to send it to someone with JTAG experience. Let me know if there is something I am missing or some suggestions you have.
Go here:

The problem is that you tried flashing a gingerbread rom even though your phone still had Froyo bootloaders. If you flash a gingerbread rom using one of the one click files mentioned in the guide, you'll be able to flash more GB custom roms.
Don't worry your phone is fine, you just need to read a little more and you'll be good to go.
Thank you very much for the link, the post is very through. I am getting stuck because my phone appears to not want to go into "Download Mode." Every time I press the up + down vol buttons and plug in the usb I just get the attached images and they go in an infinite boot loop.
I have tried every usb port on the computer and followed the instructions near the first of the post and uninstalled all ports which had Android or Samsung associated with them. I also tried all the different ways I could to get into download mode based on this link.
I am currently in the process of uploading a clip of the infinite boot loop I am in on Youtube and will post it if it helps.
Again thank you all for your help. The XDA community is the best!
That is the rainbow screen indicating you need GB bootloaders. Just pull your battery. You need to flash twice - second time checking the 'flash bootloaders'.
For the driver issue/phone not recognized by the computer - There is a tool in the guide called USBDeview (in the notes). Use it to make sure you have uninstalled all android related/unknown drivers. Go into uninstall programs and make sure you uninstall Samsung drivers. Restart your computer. I also run the CCleanner reg cleaner. Then restart computer again.
For Download Mode - Pull battery. Plug your USB into your computer only. Make sure you are pushing both the volume up and down buttons simultaneously. Without putting battery back in, plug your USB cable into your phone while continuing to hold volume up and volume down buttons. Keep holding volume buttons with USB plugged into phone and computer and put the battery back in.
Start guide over and read thoroughly.
Fb that's the screen I got coming back from nand back up!!! I had to flash a diff kernel with Odin to fix it
Thanks for all your help. Ironically I was doing everything correctly, but my usb cable had gone bad on me the night that it all happened. So thanks all, espicially lumin30 for the excellent guide and for FBis251 pointing me to it. After switching to a working cable and completing lumin30's guide all is now working great!
As a random side note the driver section showed up slightly differently for me (the device I had to pick was [usb composite] but once I figured that out everything went well).
Glad you figured it out

Problems rooting Samsung Galaxy GT-B5510

Hi guys,
I ask for your help after having tried everything was in my possibilities.
I recently bought a Galaxy GT-B1150 and I wanted to root it. I tried everything :
1. Superoneclick
2.Z4root
3.Unlock Root
4.Sgtool
5.to put a .zip folder in the SD and to enter in recovery
It was useless. I have all the possible drivers on my windows 7, although 1,2,3 and 4 didn't work.
1 freezes at #7;
2 just doesn't do anything
4 "smart card error 0x89"
5 I feel idiot, but I seriously can't do the recovery mode. I push power+home+volume up but the best result I achieve is a reboot.
It's been 3 days since I started trying, now I just don't know hat to do.
Thanks for any help!
U've written the model no. incorrectly..got me confused.
Anyway i'll see what i can find.
It's seems like the usual update.zip rooting works. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431696
U should be able to boot into recovery.
The model is GT-B5510, sorry.
I swear I tried thousands times to boot into recovery, I just can't!
I even watched a video and a picture of the procedure, but it doesn't work. It's so simple that it seems impossible to me to be so dumb. It's three keys pressed simultaneously: that's what I do. I don't really know what to think.
Tell me what exactly happens when u try to enter recovery mode.
What do u see on the screen?
When the phone is off and I press the 3 keys, the phone turns on and the screen view with "samsung galaxy GT-B5510" written on, appears. If I hold them, after few seconds, the "galaxy GT..." text disappear and the phone just reboots. If I release them, the phone starts normally.
Weird.
Try various other key combination if ur bored, there should be one for download mode but it's not useful in this scenario.
I came across a very similar case the other day but on a different phone, he resolved it by rooting with superoneclick(beware of the various versions) .
Maybe googling on the superoneclick error might get u somewhere.
Maybe..maybe the new phones shipped with 2.3.6 have the recovery mode disabled/blocked(seems unlikely) but i've not been able to confirm this.
---------- Post added at 05:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:14 PM ----------
Also, is ur phone Y Pro or Y TXT?
Which country are u frm?
I uploaded the video to show you better.
It's been 3 days since I started trying. I googled everything I could, I tried to resolve every problem with each method.
The only way left is the recovery, so I will try different combinations.
It's Y PRO.
I'm from Italy.
Tried soe combinations...useless. Is there something else I can do?
Well it can be frustrating at times...try holding down the keys like forever, even after it reboots..maybe next time it'll boot into recovery instead of android.
Have u come across any alternate firmwares, either stock or custom that u could flash?
U have no problem entering download mode right?
Well, I'm not very into Android, it's the first time I use it. That means I didn't understand a word of your second sentence.
Ah, I don't even know how to enter in download mode.
Thank you for helping me, really!
Firmwares are the files which u can flash on ur phone which gives u a fully working operating system.
Flashing = Installing
Stock firmware/rom = factory samsung firmwares
custom firmware/rom = 'custom' like cyanogenmod
I don't think there are any custom roms for y pro as of now on xda.
Seems download mode for pro is voldown+home+power
Use this site http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3 , u'll find all the firmware and guides on how to flash them.
U can also find it here http://www.tsar3000.com/Joomla/inde...0-b5512-galaxyypro&catid=57:how-to&Itemid=104
But i usually use sammobile.com
U can check ur current firmware version in the About Phone or by typing in some code like *1234# (i don't remember exactly)
Take your time, don't rush into it. U'll lose all ur data when u flash firmwares.
U don't have any necessity to change firmwares at this moment, but the more u know the better it is.
I'm still wondering why u can't get into recovery.
My firmware is GINGERBREAD 2.3.6
I have Kies, so my phone is fully updated: why should I download the firmware?
The download mode doesn't seem to start too.
This whole thing is crazy!!!
Besides, my phone's memory is getting full, so I really need to move everything to the SD (the apps are already there)!
C'mon download mode has to work..else it's almost useless.
Even when updating with kies the phone goes into download mode during the process.
I was just thinking if u could flash to a previous firmware version maybe u could get into recovery..just a thought.
2.3.6 is the android version, u should also see something like B5510ITVLB1 or B5510ITVLF1
As for memory, rooting is the best way to move all the apps to sd...but there are some applications on market which can move certain apps, not all to sd without root.
There is a galaxy y forum here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1469 maybe the folks there can help u more.
My firmware version is B5510XXKK2.
Installing a previous firmware should be my last chance, since it deletes everything. :'(
I'll try on that forum too.
same problem here
Hello,
I know this is a old threat but I have the same problem and I am from the Netherlands..
I've bought this phone with a screenlock password and the previous owner don't not know him anymore
I cannot enter recovery and downloade mode..
I tried evrything i could think of. The Phone is simlocked. Don't know if that is the problem?

Press volumen down, then Home, then Power.
In above 5 or 6 seconds you will see the Samsung banner, then release all the keys at the same time.
Almost instantaneously you will see a very different menu, and then finally you have to press (as indicated in the screen) the volume up key.
Now you are in download mode, and you can plug the usb cable to connect the mobile to a computer with Odin and then flash the ROM (for instance).
Cheers.

Same problem - tried everything - can go into download mode - what next?
Hi, I have the same problem. My phone got blocked because my mother tried the pattern too many times. The phone won't accept my gmail login and password (even though it is correct). I've tried a hard factory reset (volume up, home, off) but it doesn't work. I can get in to download mode by pressing volume down, home and off-button but I have no idea what I need to do next. Any advice anyone?

I've tried a hard factory reset (volume up, home, off) but it doesn't work. I can get in to download mode by pressing volume down, home and off-button but I have no idea what I need to do next. Any advice anyone?

Hi there.
If you read spanish, you can take some ideas from my site:
https://wiki.legido.com/doku.php?id=android:gt-b5510
Summary:
1. Get a GNU/Linux machine (you can build a Virtual Machine on top of Virtualbox for instance)
2. Get SplitFUS2
https://wiki.legido.com/doku.php?id=android:gt-b5510#splitfus2
3. Download a ROM file:
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-B5510
4. Uncompress it and generate the required files:
Example:
./splitfus2 -w -s S6102DXMA2_S6102OLBMA1_S6102DXMA2_HOME.tar.md5
5. Get a Window$ machine
6. Download Odin on this machine:
https://wiki.legido.com/doku.php?id=android:gt-b5510#odin
7. Plug the mobile on download mode to the windows machine through a USB cable
8. Pass the files obtained on step 4 to the Window$ machine
9. Upload new firmware with Odin to the mobile
I hope that this summary helps you.

Please Please Help - Flashing Problem

im aware that this has been covered many times, however i just dont know what to do.
The problem is this, i can boot up into CWM screen, and see the sub menus that are on that screen, like mount sd, advanced etc etc. I can navigate through those menus as well. The problem im having, is that im unable to access my internal storage, and when i put an SD card in, i cant see that either. i would like to return to the stock Rom, as i bought this off a friend, who gave up trying to fix the issue, as it seems like a bad Rom was flashed or it was incorrectly done.
So, without being able to access both internal and external storage, im basically struggling. What makes it more worse for me, is that when i plug the USB cable in, i hear the sound it makes, but the pc says device not recognised.
in CWM, i can see the internal files stored on the internal memomry, if i go through the menu there. Is there a way to get my pc to recognise my device, and how can i go about this with no access to both internal and external storage. Im desperate for help. I just need a guide, as i dont know how to flash, as this was bought from a friend.
ive already given it to somebody, but he says it could be hardware failure, could this be right, and if it is, how do i know which part of the hardware is damaged? :crying:
The other problem is that power button doesnt work, so i can get it switched on and into CWM, but cant select any of the menus. Is there a way to get it sorted some other way.
Thanks
Wow, unique situation you got there!
You're going to need to use EasyFlasher: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688012
It will let run some simple commands through your PC into your plugged-in Transformer.
As the EasyFlasher thread states, you'll first need to download the APX driver (link in thread) to establish a successful connection.
I've used EasyFlasher a handful of times just for fun, and from what i can remember you shouldn't need the use of your power button to get successfully booted into a ROM using this.

Cheers, lets hope that works for me. I just want to push the stock Rom back, and then i can download an app where i can just maybe use the volume buttons to wake the device again, and also lock it until i get the button repaired. Right now, having no access to the internal or external storage, and with no power button to use the whole Power + Volume up/down thing, i need something to just push the Rom on to the Tab in another way.
Thanks:good:

wiped OS

Hi all hope someone can help. My oneplus 1 was playing up a bit just lately so I thought I would give is a wipe and fresh install of a Sultan Rom that I had been using. Backed up using Titanium and Twrp to play it safe. Then like a complete novice (not the next stage up which is where I would put myself) I ticked all the check boxes and wiped. I now have no Operating System on the phone :crying: although I have a version of Twrp sitting on there.
So, off to google I trawled to find numerous posts threads and ways to get back up and running using fastboot, ADB sideloading etc. So after a day and a half of trying these methods and various images to download and flash I am no where near having a working phone.
I need help if one kind soul can help and walk me through the process of getting this phone back up and running.
Thanks for any help that comes this way.... Foz
TWRP is present, just copy paste a rom and gapps into the phone. Go into twrp, flash the rom and gapps and reboot.
Did you try this?
hi thanks for replying.
I've not been able to do as you suggest as the phone is not showing up in explorer where I copy/paste Rom/Gapps. The laptop is "seeing" the phone as there is an audible sound when it gets plugged into the USB socket and when using the fastboot command prompt, it throws a serial number at me. this is why I've tried to go down the ADB/Fastboot options of installing a Rom/IMG with no success
Install the drivers of ur phone on ur pc, download the stock rom cm13.1 from xda, and flash it.

Or the other option is, get otg drive. Put rom there and flash.
I'm not having any luck with the first suggestion you gave. Every image that i am trying to flash results in some kind of error. I've even tried to put the most up to date version of Twrp on (3.2.1-0-bacon) but I'm not getting any joy with that. Even though I can "talk" to the phone in Fastboot mode I'm getting no joy. I'm thinking of re installing all the ADB set up again just to make sure
Your second suggestion is not an option for me at the minute as i don't have the kit to try it.
Thanks for you input though.
Try using a OTG cable with a thumb drive

maybe I missed something but you have to connect your phone to the PC when it is in recovery mode (when OPO is turned off press and keep pressed vol down + power button until you see TWRP logo). The pc should see your phone as an external drive, then you can move a ROM and Gapps and flash with TWRP.

You're not missing anything, I don't think. The phone is booted up and the TWRP screen is on. The phone is connected to the laptop and I can hear an audible noise, but there is nothing in the explorer folders that looks like A001 which is what the phone usually looks like when plugged in. If it was I'd like to think it would be straight forward.

Any recommendations? never used one so I wouldn't want to get the wrong one or one that crap it only lasts 5 minutes. Thanks
EDIT... just ordered this cheap effort https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Micro-US...565007?hash=item3af91d86cf:g:y0MAAOSw6VRZ5mtz . Hopefully it will get me back up and running.
should be ok but if not try this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Micro...475501&hash=item25bec575e8:g:z~YAAOSwPkJafy8v its what i buy
afternoon all. right, the postie has turned up with my thumb drive.Could someone advise as to the procedure to get me up and running?
Thanks Foz
ok ... I've now got an OS on the phone...
Thanks to all who have helped.
just as an add on to this thread in case someone has a similar problem.
The phone still wasn't running right and I hadn't installed Gapps so I decided to re flash and start again. Now when I booted into twrp to reflash, it couldn't read the files on the SD card in the thumb drive. I ended up having to re flash a different version of twrp on the phone which miraculously could see the files on the SD card which I installed. The issue I now have is that I don't think there is an area on the phone to store stuff. Whenever I take a pic the camera can't see or access the SD card. When the phone is connected to the laptop, there are no folders within explorer to view so I can't drag n drop files etc to the phone. any ideas/suggestions as to get this sorted?
Thanks in advance... Foz
OK we're sorted. After trying (nearly) every help guide with no luck, I found a similar problem on a YouTube video. In the comments, someone suggested trying to use a Bacon Root Toolkit by WugFresh. after a few minutes setting it up, I've have finally flashed 12.1-YOG4PAS3JL. It has given back my internal SD card. Going to do a back up in a moment and I'm off to flash a more recent ROM
I hope this info helps someone out.
Cheers all
