[Theme][Mods] DarkMatter for 4.4.2 Touchwiz Based ROMS - I9505 Only - Galaxy S 4 Themes and Apps

DarkMatter - Theme/Mods [WIP]
For Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 running Touchwiz 4.4.2 ROMS Only
IMPORTANT: I am not responsible if any thing goes wrong with your device while flashing this theme. You are flashing this at your very own risk.
Friends, frankly speaking I simply hate the way the Notification Panel looks with touchwiz (And I believe many of you will agree). It simply takes up too much of valuable space .
So I decided to do something about it. I have tried to give it the Stock Android look and the results can be seen in the screenshots below. So basically this is a simple Mod that will change the way Touchwiz Notification Panel looks. And then you can have the Dark look and some more space for your notifications.
This mod is part of my upcoming theme that I would be calling as "DarkMatter". As of now this theme is a personal interest thing. That said i will not be taking any request. But yes, you are more than welcomed to give me your suggestions and/or point out any bugs that you come across while using this mod.
Currently I am running Imperium 16.1 ROM. And this theme will work for you only if you are on 4.4.2 stock based applications. Any S5, Note4 apps will not take up this theme and will remain un-themed (I don't use any S5, Note3 or Note4 apps, so I am not sure).
You will surely notice some inconsistencies here and there with this mod. But with time I will try to eliminate all possible bugs. I will share those with you as early as possible.
Download links are available on 2nd Post.
Installation procedure is available on 3rd Post.
Changelog is available on 4th Post.
NOTE: This theme will not work with any other mods that you may have installed on your device. It may not work with your existing mods because I have made changes in the system file and if your mod also made changes to the system file then flashing this will override your existing mod. And if it works with your existing mods, please update the thread/me so that I can mention necessary information in the OP itself.
Thank you

midNIGHT ROM v2.4 EXT4 (DUAL) NEW KERNEL Support Froyo DK28 w/clockwork redirect
Change Log:
Brand New Dual Boot Kernel. This means you can now install this ROM with or without EXT4 installed. If you want the benefit of EXT4 then it needs to be installed prior. If your among those who don't then just flash this rom as usual. This ROM will work on the Stock RFS format phones as well. This is only possible because of Dameon87's AMAZING WORK. I have tested this and it works very well.
Also to avoid further confusion I have reverted the MMS apps icon back to the green icon. I keep geting requests for the stock app. This is the stock app. It just has the 5mb increase. Thats it.
Guys I have the EXT4 install down to a science now. This is very simple and you DON'T need abd...There are a few ways floating around but this is bt far the most noob friendly.... So here you go.
How to install EXT4 on a rooted DK28 ROM in 3 steps…….
Things you will need to do prior:
You need to pre-root with the one click root w/ clockwork redirect
Copy the midNIGHT v2.4 ROM over to your SD card. Make sure you have the OneClickEXT4.v1.3 folder on your desktop. The files are found here
3 EASY STEPS
1) Boot into clock work and flash the midnight v2.4 ROM
2) Once completed back out to the main menu in clockwork and scroll down to advanced and select “reboot Recovery” and plug the usb cable into the phone.
3) Once your back into the “New” Recovery v2.5.1.2 run the “install-ext4” found inside the OneClickEXT4.v1.3 folder (That’s on your computer) and wait 3-5 minutes for it to complete then reflash the midNIGHT ROM
That’s it. You can download Quadrant from the market. Run it and see your new score.
Before you doubt this procedure try it for yourself. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best.
Let me explain why this works. The prepare zip is the means by which you install the new recovery. That's all it does. The new recovery is already included in my rom. Flashing the KERN-DK28EXT4 is doing just that flashing the kernel. My rom already has that included as well. So by flashing the ROM first you have installed the Recovery(prepared zip) and the new kernel (KERN-DK28EXT4) all in one motion. Then all that's left is to plug in and run the install bat. It's really mush easier this way. I was aiming to make it accessible to more people with different experience levels.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Instructions:
1) You MUST ODIN THE DK28 modem (if you already haven't)
2) Boot into clockwork
3) WIPE DATA/Cache/Dalvik x3
4) Flash midNIGHT v2.0.6 zip
5) DO NOT WIPE DATA AGAIN (You can wipe the caches but NOT DATA). Wiping data again will remove ALL APPS IN THE DATA FOLDER
6) First boot might take a few minutes
7) Enjoy

No problem. I am in love with the custom theme on here. I was coming from working on the gingerbread port from the Nexus S and my wifi broke when flashing back to DK28 with odin, it would shut off and reboot, so I finally just flashed this ROM again and what do you know, wifi AND gps are both working perfectly. Nice job on the ROM, I really do appreciate your work. (;
NM, I'm a tard when its late

I said the SAME thing. I just extracted a talk.apk file from a bonsai rom and installed it like normal and it worked
*EDIT* any chance of the kernel being worked on to extend the 6sec timeframe for the boot sound. I mean id personally would love 15sec

[ROM] GooApple V.5 / Goophone 4S (NOT 3G) ''Bestrom.v.4''

IMPORTANT UPDATE 1:
As of yesterday (April 21, 2012), I don't have the ability to update/install or experiment with my phone anymore. All of a sudden after an hour's charge, the screen has seized to function. All I have is a blurry, cloudy black and white screen.
IMPORTANT UPDATE 2:
I've contacted android-sale for a solution; and I have to admit that the guys were very helpful. I was thinking of paying the extra $ for the newest Y5 model; but at this moment (May 22, 2012) is not yet available so I went for the MeizuMX (dual core, 1.4GHz Samsung CPU).
As you can understand, from now on, my rom development for GooApple V.5 comes to an end. Also, I can only provide help from memory regarding this rom. I 'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause to you.
--------------------------
This thread is dedicated on which is the best rom for GooApple V5; thus it's called Bestrom. It's purpose is to provide the most functional rom available which is able to solve ALL the issues this phone's original roms had. In version 4, I've been based on Von275's (www.anexonel.tk) fine work (version 2.1), tried to make it more stable, eliminate F/C issues and added some bits n pieces here and there. Detailed list follows:
Instructions on how to install it can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21847185&postcount=198
This is a recovery image taken from my phone via Chinese recovery.
What's inside:
01. This is called ''Bestrom v.4'' and it's based on von275's 2.1 custom rom.
02. FAST iOS UI.
03. Working Wifi based location services & GPS.
04. QuickBoot.
05. RootExplorer.
06. RootUninstaller.
07. Gmail & Google Apps preinstalled.
08. Automatically Syncing Calendar and Contacts.
09. SlideIT keyboard & Greek input method.
10. Default locale set to English.
10. Rom is already rooted.
11. MoboPlayer (Best performance Video player for V5)
12. Documents 2 Go.
13. Adobe Flash 11.
14. Dolphin Browser HD.
15. Advanced Task Manager.
16. Removed Smartkeyboard of Von275's rom.
You can download the rom from here:

Make sure you clear / wipe cache BEFORE restoring. Helps a lot avoiding Force Closing some programs.

What's inside:
01. This is called ''Bestrom v.2'' and it's based on gooapple_ios_12.01.14 rom.
02. Working Wifi based location services AND GPS (faint signal on my place)
03. QuickBoot
04. RootExplorer
05. RootUninstaller
06. Latest Gingerbread apps: Market, GoogleMaps, Latitude, CarHome, Talk, Navigator etc.
07. Automatically Syncing Calendar and Contacts.
08. Greek Input method (It's a free alternative to the chinese QQ)
09. Default locale set to English (from Chinese)
10. Rom is already rooted.
The rom link is here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?p0c4hec3pko45p6
What's NOT inside: GooglePartnerSetup.apk. It kept killing itself for no apparent reason. Other than that I've decided to keep most of the Chinese apps, just in case any people out there want some of them. You can uninstall any unneeded apps via RootUninstaller which is already inside the rom.
Make sure you clear / wipe cache after restoring. Helps a lot avoiding Force Closing some programs.

Hi macsga,
can I just load it via the restore option, or do I have to install the gooapple_ios_12.01.14 rom first. I'm still running the gooapple_ios_11.12.29, and restored the bestrom v2.
You just need to restore it. The only drawback I've found out is that an embedded script turns the chinese Clockworkmod back to the official English one; that means you need to reflash the chinese c/w everytime you need to restore any other rom.
Sorry about that.

I'm a programmer, physicist, a university student, a teacher, a father, a husband and (trying to be) a human being with (what is my perception of close to) an ordinary life.
Time is of the essence, and I'm lacking of it at the moment. Many other guys here have done this though, if you check out this thread

there are a lot of videos that will help you out solving your questions.

A small question, does bestrom v3 runs so faster like bestrom v1? Because in v1 the main screen scrolls perfectly and I dont want to change to a slower version.. Great job, and thanks!!

You're welcome! I can tell that v3 runs smoothly. It also has features that v1 didn't (like GPS fix). I'd say you make a backup first and try. If you don't like it you can always revert.
I tried this version. Unfortunately, it has become far worse than the previous one. That's what I have seen:
- Used an older version of iLauncher
- The status bar is not transparent
- A bug with the device going to sleep (if you just press the "Back" button, we have a blank screen)
- Not the correct definition of my ISP provider. (Baikalwestcom instead AKOS-GSM)
- No reaction to the long press "Back" button
- Cached background process - SuperUser in the task manager written in Chinese characters
- The keyboard has only one language - the system language, for a set of English language is necessary to change the whole the device language
PS: 3rd screenshot - the original ROM (Transparent status bar; AKOS-GSM)

I am now using the latest version of anexonel's http://anexonel.webs.com/downloadlinks.htm which is FAR better than my v3 one. So far I find it a perfect choice. Thanks for the comments.
Unfortunately, the firmware "Anexonel's modified chinese rom V2" contains more fatal bugs. Including:
- Slow down scrolling working screens
- The lack of localization (English only): Calendar, LockScreen and more other .apk
- Icons do not remember the position of the place when you restart
- No Icons SuperUser! (Root is)
- Broken Calculator - does not fit the entire series
- Does not stretch application icons. Wafers under the application icons are missing.
- Settings -> General -> SIM Tools = system crash
- Is not correctly working SystemUI.apk (not compatible with FrameWork)
- Wi-Fi - so slow, losing connection, the phone warms
In my opinion, the most stable version of the firmware, it is devoid of most of the problems - GooApple_IOS_12.02.13_ (rom.gooapple.com). zip [148,626,630 bytes]
It was posted on the official site, but a very short time. I personally use it.
A working Wi-Fi, GPS, Settings, SystemUI, very good software of radio module. Excellent localization. Adroid version 2.3.6 (Install to Phone / SD-Card - present)
Of the cons:
- Replaces preloader.img in English! (return via MobileuncleTools.apk, and delete - system\recovery-from-boot.p)
- No Root (helps - GOOPHONE4GS-ROOT-REC-CH)
- Icons do not remember the position of the place when you restart
- Lost the original apple logo (replacement restores "boot_logo" and "bootanimation.zip" is not enough, one has to flash boot.img [6,291,456 bytes]

I'd like to test it, if you like to share it. Please upload it and share the link. If it's like what you're suggesting I'd be more than happy to provide a rom based on this. From my personal experience, official releases never got even near GPS fix / NetworkLocation service; plus they presented A LOT MORE lag.
I had to dig very deep to find a *working* apk for both of these. There's a whole thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21947564&postcount=236 (link provided with my 1st attempt of fixing those issues).
In any case; I can only but respect your opinion and try (if you post the link). Thanks in advance.

Ahoj men! I'm in trouble!
There was chinese recovery at my phone and mayianday rom ver.
But today, after installing manufacture version of rom (the same as AndroVet link GooApple_IOS_12.02.13_) i've got an english recovery as he say but rom don't boot! All I can hear is quiet clicks after gooapple logo and black screen. Only hard reset helps to go in recovery menu.
I have no backup for english reсovery. what to do next? How to revive it? I want it back!

OK, thank you!
Problem solved by reinstalling rom package from english recovery. After that it load os and now I can go back to china rec. Ufff!
Solution consists of one step:
- Flash your old preloader.img with "GOOPHONE4GS-ROOT-REC-CH" software
Decision 2:
- Install MobileuncleTools.apk
- Flash your old recovery.img
all packed into the archive and put to you http://www.mediafire.com/?1ya6lut3tqibnzi

****Version 6.2 (for KatKiss 4.3) includes v6.1 and add's fixes for TABLET mode. (removed v6.1 because it's included in 6.2)
- icon colors fixed.
- text colors fixed
- battery text removed (not needed due to percentage circle indicator)
- only thing that needs to be tweaked now is the color of the on switches, if i can find it.
****Version 6.3 (for KatKiss 4.3) fixes 1% INCREMENTS AND BATTERY ANIMATION (I had forgot to rewrite the xmls for them) so they were only updating every 15% like the original UI, except with the new files. all is fixed now it's updating every percent.
- (version 6.2 removed as 6.3 is just the same thing with battery indicator fixed.)
Now verified working with TEOS build 120, katkiss 4.3 build 20. (the regular v6 is for Team EOS 4.2 roms)
the version for TEOS should be almost done in phablet mode, not sure about tablet mode make requests for me to fix anything i missed.
the version for katkiss 4.3 build 20 is now finished, and should work with other builds but make a backup just in case
It is safe to test on any rom using the following procedure.
- download the flashable zip
- make a copy of the flashable zip and name the copy ORIGINALUI.zip
- open ORIGINALUI.zip with 7-zip or winrar and replace /system/app/SystemUI.apk and /system/framework/framework-res.apk with the CURRENT files from your phone. This will allow you to boot back into recovery and reflash the original files if there is any problems.
It's also recommended you do a nandroid backup before flashing anything just as a safeguard.
Standard warnings (you are responsible for damage done to your phone)
Install instructions
- make a backup flashable zip with your original UI and make a nandroid backup (optional but recommended)
- boot into recovery and flash the zip
- reboot and enjoy
This mod has the following features.
- circle percentage battery indicator, with charging animation.
- standard text changed to #ff2686ff
- holo_blue changed to #ff2686ff
- lockscreen animations color's updated.
- most system icons updated (if i have missed something that you use it's because i don't use it, drop a message if i missed something you want changed and i'll add a new version.) (only applies to SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk)
- Changed color of most icons in the status bar except some notification icons that are controlled by other apks. (playstore etc) if you need something else changed from SystemUI or framework that i missed just drop a message here.
- over 300 icon changes and 15 modded xml's
- Recommended black or dark color for lockscreen background.
- so far only the swipe lockscreen is done but if you request another one I can try to do it when time permits.
- there is a tutorial on the process I used here
- if you want the specific aapt.exe and the apktool version that works with 4.2 EOS/Katkiss roms just shout at me, i'll post them for you. (alot of them don't work and you'll get compile errors without even changing anything)
The lockscreen clock i'm using is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sk.michalec.SimpleDigiClockWidget&hl=en
it's far easier to use this then mod the system clock, and ontop of that there is way more fonts and stuff you can use and change the sizes of the date/time etc, it's just way better than modding the built in one.
also using apex launcher i find it's best and most customization.
**************** In the 2 screenshots where the CLOCK IS WHITE it's because I DIDN"T INSTALL DIGICLOCK, it's the stock one and i was only testing the mod so i didnt bother installing digiclock and fix it, the screenshots are to show the fixed tablet mode.

EDIT -- >> 4.3 version now uploaded, Phablet mode done in mod version 6.1, Tablet mode still a work in progress. edit tablet mode now done
if the original version built from TEAM EOS rom doesn't work on kat 4.2 can you try flashing the 4.3 version and see if that works? if not I guess i'll make a 3rd version.
I'm looking into fixing the menu highlighters transparency

[TOOL] Vox Remover

Team Voxive Presents: Vox Remover [DISCONTINUED]
[CROSS-POSTED from old Voxive GApps thread, some doesn't apply]
Long time no see, huh? Well, contrary to the Post title, I am back but it's different now! Why?
THESE GApps ARE NOW APART OF Open GApps!
I wanted to cover a few things about this package real quick though!
First, the source code has been moved and updated (the old actually was missing the newer releases!) onto GitLab. One note though is that the APKs themselves are managed using Git-Annex, so you will need that to "complete" your repo. Find the source code here: http://gitlab.com/TeamVoxive/vox_gapps/
Second, Open GApps includes a AROMA version too that will be easy for you guys to migrate over to!
Third, my other project, Vox Remover is on hiatus as it is semi-replaced by Open GApps as not only it includes more removals than the original PA/TK Gapps these were based on but it also includes the ability to remove ANY app (have to configure in config file).
Lastly, I want to mention my "other" project that I am still working on. Vox Variety is a 24-hour variety station playing a lot unique stuff!
You can find Open GApps at http://opengapps.github.io/opengapps/ with daily, auto-generated builds for 4.4x to 5.1x on arm(64) and x86(_64) with a ton of variants!
OLD OP BELOW!
Vox Remover, based on PA GApps Remover by @TKruzze, is a flashable script for rooted Android devices that allow you to remove some bloatware that may come with your ROM.
To use, just flash after your ROM of choice! It will walk you through making the file and it will then remove them. Finally, the Addon.d script will keep them removed across updates without a reflash!
REMOVABLE ITEMS
To see the list of items you can remove, visit this page on our GitHub Wiki.

You will find detailed instructions how to flash and download links on this page on our GitHub Wiki.

CHANGELOG
Changelog
v5.1
Added CM AudioFX under the existing DSP option.
v5
Version Merge
The Major change in v5 is the fact that Lollipop and KitKat versions are no longer separate. This changes a few things behind the scenes but only one thing up front: A new Version selector dialog that let's you select KitKat or Lollipop! MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE THE CORRECT ONE OR IT WON'T REMOVE!!
New Apps
I have added a couple of new apps also!
Euphoria Wallpapers
CyanogenMod's Eleven Music Player
These apps are most likely lollipop only but if you find a KitKat ROM with them, you should be able to remove them!
Other Fixes
Fixed Sorting of CyanogenMod and Other ROM items to be Alphabetical.
Spaces to TABS
NOTE
This is early days for the Mixed Installer and I need all the testing I can get! Please report your issues!
v4-kitkat and v2-lollipop
With v2, you can now restore from the config file so you don't have to edit it every time you flash!
Simply choose RESTORE when you flash to jump straight to the installer.
Want to edit your choices? Tap DON'T RESTORE and you will be greeted with the classic installer!
v3.3.1-kitkat and v1.1.1-lollipop
FIXES BUG IN v3.3-kitkat and v1.1-lollipop, see changelog below!
20141122 releases: v3.1/v3.2-kitkat/v3.3-kitkat and v1-lollipop/v1.1-lollipop
LOLLIPOP VERSION STILL NEEDS TESTING! PLEASE HELP!
NEW FEATURES
All versions
Thanks to a request on XDA, I have added support to remove the Boot Animation. Just select the new option and it will remove the animation, defaulting you back to the one built into the code.
v3.2+ and both Lollipop versions
Also, you can now separately remove Exchange Services so you can still use Exchange accounts in Gmail!
v3.3 and v1.1-lollipop versions
Finally, you can remove AOSPA's Lightbulb/Torch App.
BUGS
v3.3 and v1.1-lollipop versions
Fixed Git messing up EOL which made development tricky, didn't impact end users.
All versions
Wouldn't flash in some recoveries like the MultiROM one because it didn't have an updater script file. I added a dummy file and now it works.
All versions
When I based this project off of the PA GApps Easy Config script I was working on, I accidentally left some items in the config script named "aosp_prop" instead of "gapps_prop". To make it easier, I renamed both to just "prop".
CLEAN UP
All versions
I did some misc. cleanup including:
Changing the author name to my new username: "bgiesing"
In config script, fixed leftover PA GApps config name and replaced with Vox Remover.
In the Install Script, I removed some extra headers and the part that looks for your text file as it is always in the same place now.
v3
AROMA Installer: The zip is now using AROMA! That means that you can use a simple click interface to config your choices.
One ZIP! I figured out how to run the current script from AROMA and show output which means you don't need two ZIPs! Flash one for everything!
Added a request: PhotoPhase Live Wallpaper
Combined: Development and SpareParts into one entry as if you are going to remove one, you are most likely going to remove the other.
Fixed: Addon.d Script! In the older releases, there were two problems with the script. The first was the ZIP not installing it on your device which means it can't work at all. The second is that even if you copied over the script manually, the items to restore were in the "restore" section and not "pre-restore" and this caused things like AOSPA's script to not restore completely!
v2
Fix SlimIRC and PAC-Man apps not removing
First Public release
v1
BETA Release, Initial Release
Reserved

this looking helpful!
No instructions on how to install/flash? I understand you based your work on TKRuzze's GApps Remover but it might be wise to add instruction in your original post as to how and when to flash your zip and/or would it conflict with TKRuzze's and the likes of those kind of questions.
So far, I'm liking this project.

There is instructions, it tells you how to make the text file and to flash, if you don't know how to flash, then you shouldn't be using custom ROMs!
As for possible conflicts, they both supplement each other, one removes GApps and the other removes stock apps! They are safe to use together!

If I didn't know how to flash, I couldn't use a custom ROM in the first place.
In any case, I must have missed the the "when to flash" bit in your OP and, on that front, this project looks even more promising.

I agree with you, the OP didn't mentioned where we have to put the file etc...
For beginners (like me) it's not as easy as it could be for experienced people.
Please give us some advice

To use, make a text file named ".vox-remove", put it in the same folder as the ZIP or the /sdcard root, and put a keyword from the list below. The file should have no extension. Remove anything in BOLD. After making the file, flash normally anytime after flashing the ROM (before or after GApps, kernel, etc.)

Okay guys, here is a little bit of a news update!
I am still working on this, I just need a suggestion on apps that you guys want removed!
Secondly, I am in contact with @osm0sis to make an AROMA zip that will create a file for the new AOSPA shell GApps! This will save people the trouble of figuring out how to correctly make the text file. Hopefully, I can also make one for the remover!
I just released an AROMA zip to make the text file for PA GApps remover, I am going to try to have one up for Vox remover eventually!
dotmaniac said:
Me, @hlxanthus, and @osm0sis have been working on an easy config tool for making the .gapps-remove (soon .gapps-config) file. @hlxanthus has already posted a few versions and now here is the next step.
Download pa_gapps_config-20140916b.zip
Compared to his versions, the interface is completely slimmed down and the ZIP is smaller. How? Well, I used my base which is categorized and has a better file structure. The ZIP is smaller thanks to a few things: One includes less words in script files. An example is resread instead of zipread. This allows you to not have to enter the full file path. Secondly, he added a Splash image and I ran it through a PNG compressor. Before it was 520 KB and is now 130 KB. Third, my base doesn't include extra themes and icons that make up most AROMA zips.
Thanks to @osm0sis and @hlxanthus for ideas, shell help, and AROMA help. Specifically @hlxanthus for the backup code and verification screens. Also @osm0sis for the grep -w flag hint and help for other projects I have done.

CM Home, Cell Broadcast, and CM account are essential for device use, aka if you remove them, your device won't work.
There is no such thing as the CM Video Editor... The video editor included in CM is the AOSP Movie Studio.
Also, Spare parts and Development are two separate apps. They both are advanced tools for app development.
- Exchange services
- AOSP keyboard (?)
- Camera
- Black hole, Sun beam, Bubble
(Do basic live wallpapers include Nexus and Spectrum?)

Exchange services are there.
The keyboard we don't allow to remove because if you don't install a keyboard, you will be unable to type!
Camera I'll have to think about.
The live wallpapers are there, they just may have different names. Black hole is actually called Galaxy4.
Basic live wallpapers (I think) include Nexus. Spectrum is a part of Visualization Wallpapers.

BUGS / KNOWN ISSUES:
*Pop-up While being plugged into pc saying device can not be used, this is normal just dismiss and use as normal.
*Certain Apps do not work due to being rooted; SamsungPay, SHealth, SecureFolder and others are effected by this.
some apps now working with tima=0
*If you get stuck in setup wizard, please click back and go forward again, if it still wont proceed just reboot phone and it will make it through the setup. This happens randomly for setups it seems.
If you are having audio issues : go to /system/etc/mixer_paths_tavil.xml and change to mixer_paths_tavil.xml.bak2 and take the mixer_paths_tavil.xml.bak and remove the .bak off of it. This essentially turns off the dual speaker mod, but shouldn't need to be done, some apps just may not like dual speaker mod?
Removed This pre-built in feature on BRB4 due to many apps not supporting dual audio this way.

Changelog
Please pay attention to how files are labeled as this is to help insure you have chosen the correct firmware for your device. The U1 or U2 will be to determine if your device has been updated or not to the newer bootloader. This will forever lock your device to the newer revision bootloader U2 and you no longer can flash U1 roms or use their data from backups. Please insure you either update and flash U2 or if you are still on U1 and you bootloop and cant recover, restore using a u1 firmware or choose to flash the latest firmware.

Haha !!! 1st! Can't wait to give this a go. Thank you for your hard work! You rock!
Well ive narrowed down the camera to a issue with the updater script and the links/perms to the hardware for camera. Not sure where to start as the stock img and the eng img built very different scripts.. gonna have to play around some and see.
WOO!!! Glad to see you got it working before me!
I wanna go for a ride.. I'm buckling up!

Was thinking about flashing but first wanna confirm. There is currently 2 things that don't work, the flashlight and camera? Is that correct still? Because I use those 2 daily lol

Yes that's correct
Both are still not working. I'm still just in testing phase that it's flashing with flashfire and booting correctly for multiple people. Wiping data etc and it still works. Looking for fc's etc. I'm working on redoing the scripts in hope the cam and flash are just tied to the perm/metadata/symlinks auto generated by my tool

What happened? I'm thinking you would need to have selected wipe system and data and placed it at the top 1st because you are coming from a non deodexed Rom and i completely forgot about this step as I've been on deodexed myself for some time and it wouldn't effect me. If you want to give it another go that would be what would cause the issue.

Glad to see you over here. Still using your V20 rom until I can upgrade to the N8.

Looking forward to downloading once uploaded, thanks for fixing the bugs
OP HAS BEEN UPDATED AND FRESH DL LINK IS AVAILABLE!
Make sure to review steps as they have changed, and i have attatched photos to op of the way flashfire should look.
Thanks so much for your hard work!
One question - I'm not rooted (yet); does flashing this (and hence being rooted) limit us to charging up to only 80%?
Thanks in advance!

Yes once rooted we are stuck at max 80% charge
Ok thanks - just got my note 8 on Saturday and I'm dying to root it. I'm just having a hard time accepting a 20% loss lol.
Hopefully the masterminds figure out a way to overcome that.
