[Q] 4.4.2 to Lollipop - AT&T LG G3

Quick question. I am on 4.4.2 and want to flash Lollipop. Just got my phone, rooted it, installed TWRP, downloaded AICP LP, GAPPS 5.0.x.... On my G2 I had to be on a specific modem. Can I just go in and wipe and flash or do I need to do something special?

Went ahead and tried it and everything worked just fine. Made a backup of course, just in case.

Yeah. It's pretty easy. No need to change modem.

Updating to 4.4.4

I'm currently running 4.4.2 and have a notification ota for 4.4.3 but I don't know how to update to it as I am rooted with Franco and xposed.i don't know what to do. So my question is how can I upgrade to 4.4.4 do I have to do 4.4.3 first? What do I have to do about xposed and being rooted.
Thanks

Make a nandroid if possible, and go into Development section and flash a flashable .zip of 4.4.4 that's pre rooted (I recommend Bigxies but Vomers should also do), and reflash Franco Kernel. Should work just fine. You should not need to clear data, dirty flash will suffice. Don't forget to reinstall the framework for Xposed after updating to 4.4.4

Nope!

[Q] Probably a dumb question but..

If I want to flash a custom ROM that works with android 5.0.2 will this custom ROM also install 5.0.2 or do I first have to flash 5.0.2 and then flash the custom rom?
thanks.

If you flash a custom ROM, let's say 5.0.2, it will have been built from 5.0.2 source code. Therefore it is 5.0.2, although modified to some degree. Each custom ROM generally has instructions on what to do before flashing it, which is usually just wiping system, data, dalvik and cache partitions in recovery.

the custom rom is the firmware youre flashing..
i recommend you to flash this rom (stock) optimized version , as it has better battery backup and so for the moto g

Ok, so it doesn't really matter if I'm running KK right now, If I flash a custom 5.0.2 it will also put my phone on 5.0.2?
Sorry I know quite a few things, but I know almost nothing at all about all this stuff.

No, only if youre in GPE there is an additional step to be done , or else youre good to go..
i quoted the answer for your question from the thread -
Do I need to downgrade to 4.4.4 before flashing these ROMs?
No. However an additional step is required if you are currently running a GPE ROM; see next question.
Can I flash this ROM if I'm GPE?
Stock Motorola ROMs require a F2FS 'userdata' partition. If you are GPE, or have ever been; you may need to convert to Stock. More info in FAQ here.

[Q] HELP!!! Moto G 1032 model lollipop reboot when uninstalling apps

Hello forum, basically, when I got my moto G, it was on 4.3, so I did all the bits, and the step i did after all the rooting unlocking etc was upgraded my bootloader to the lollipop one (ending in 8 i believe) - which i wish i didnt do, and cant downgrade to 4.4.4 (or can I without bricking)......right back to the story.......the problem now is, whenever i try uninstalling apps, or wiping data in any app etc, my phone does a reboot, I installed the brazillian 5.0.2 flashable rom (the optimised one) which worked perfectly, did all the correct wipes etc, but it reboots when uninstalling apps......, and thought i would try dirty unicorns....works well except the rebooting problem...... help....what can I do????????
I read somewhere that maybe to solve it, you gotta change runtime from dalvik to ART, but there is no option to change this....
There are no 5.0.2 uk images available that i have read (so i cant completely get back to complete factory settings)
I really wished i kept the KK bootloader!!!! so who can help me????? I want to try some of the great CM11 builds!!!
Since your bootloader is unlocked and you have the lollipop bootloader, I suggest flashing the stock 4.4.4 (not 4.4.2) ROM for your xt1032 (you will not be able to flash the motoboot file so don't bother trying), upgrade the Motorola apps via Play store, and take the 5.02 OTA update.
FInd your stock ROM here: http://www.filefactory.com/folder/c6cdedc45a775d27/?sort=filename&order=ASC&show=100&page=1

do i have to update to 5.0.2 again? as i want to try cm11 again
@audit13 is this a flashable zip, or do you need to do it via fastboot? as its got a bootloader included in the zip (4.4.4 kitkat bootloader)
The files from filefactory need to be unzipped and flashed via fastboot or mfastboot.
You do not need to do anything with the stock ROM if you want to install a custom ROM. All you need to do is install a compatible custom recovery and a custom ROM. I suggest flashing right to the latest CM12 rather than using CM11.
I suggested flashing back to the stock for your phone and upgrading to 5.02 via OTA to see if the uninstall problem goes away.
yep understood @audit13 read your other posts on this matter too, the reason I want to use a cm11 rom, is I had a moto g about 8-9 months ago, and there was a rom i loved, and it was cm11 based......will i brick if i do flash this cm11 rom? i know about flickering bug, and possible hard brick if i went back to versions below 4.4.4 ...... and i love cyanogenmod roms, as i dont get irritating moto updates etc
Flashing CM11 should not be a problem as CM11 ROMs do not touch the bootloader or modem.
so basically, downgrade to the 4.4.4 firmware file, and cm11 and im done? yeah?
You can try to flash cm11 directly over stock 5.02. If it doesn't work, you may have to flash back to stock 4.4.4, install recovery, and then flash cm11.

Bootloop: LG G2 D801 after TWRP install

Ok, so I just started to dig into my g2 today and decided to root it and such with hopes of trying out the resurrection remix rom. I followed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951 to root my stock D801 running 4.4.2 and it worked perfectly fine verified with the root checker app. I went on to install TWRP following this http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...l-one-click-freedom-tool-lp-30b-twrp-t3084474 which also worked fine so i booted into TWRP. First and only thing i did was create a backup. After the backup was done i rebooted and now I'm stuck with a repeating lg logo boot loop. I can still get into TWRP, and I can get into download mode so I'm not too worried. I tried restoring from the backup I made right before the bootloop started but it didn't work.
My question is what did I do wrong? Also, instead of going back to stock, could I just load resurrection remix onto the phone now and try to flash it even though its boot looping?

Did you actually ever upgrade to lollipop?
If not try flashing the 20g bootstack that can be found in the stock 30b roms by micromod...after that you should be able to restore your backup...

I did not. I was running on 4.4.2. I have since used the lg 2014 flash tool to flash the stock lollipop firmware, and subsequently followed the same process i mentioned above to root and get twrp installed. Now I have everything running alright, and a stable backup, but im running into issues flashing resurrection remix. I tried both the latest version on 5.1, and the newest version for 5.0.2. I first do a factory rest wipe on twrp, then i flash resurrection and the appropriate gapps ( 5.0 for the 5.02 rom and 5.1 for the newest one) both times i just get the lg logo after reboot. the logo stays for about 2 minutes until the screen starts to flicker and fade to grey. then i have to go back to twrp and restore.

I wish I could hit the thanks button more than once, you are awesome. Everything is up and running smoothly now. I don't think I would have ever figured out that a lollipop rom needed a kit kat bootstack and a jellybean bootloader to run properly. I don't even know how I'd go about finding that out. Thanks again.

No problem...by the way is download mode working after flashing 20g bootstack?...if not let me know as i made a modified version to fix but i haven't tested it yet...should work
maybe your problem is fixed by now, but did you try wiping cache/dalvik cache? That fixes 90% of bootloop problems for me.

How to go from 5.0.2 to 5.1.1, root and flash xtrestolite as rom?

Hey guys,
I'm a bit confused on how to flash the above mentioned rom as I'm still on 5.0.2 even though the update is actually already out.
What confuses and scares me is the warning about the bootloader and modem...
Anyone did go from 5.0.2 to 5.1.1 and flash xtrestolite as rom?
Help would be appreciated, I'm too used to the easy flashing of nexus devices
flash stock 5.1.1 , flash twrp through odin (take from their website to your device),**** flash unikernel I think for root access ****, and then flash xtrestolite from twrp.
**** = maybe not needed, but just in case

Everything is actually mentioned in his thread. Read it and ask if you have more questions.
But short. Flash 5.1.1 bootloader and modem, flash 5.1.1 stock, flash twrp, install XtreStoLite.

Why would we flash the bootloader and modem first? Wouldn't the 5.1.1. stock include it all?

I have absolutely no idea. I couldn't get on 5.1.1 before that, but I may have different something wrong. But it can't hurt, to do the above.
Judy follow the instructions on the thread.
Hey guys i have a problem with 5.1.1 and twrp 2.8.7.1: when i reboot in recovery i can't see my phone in windows explorer and i'm unable to copy the rom on the phone. Do you have the same issue?
