No, changing the location of firmware causes no problems.
The names are just regarding the location for which that update is meant and generally contain some extra apps that's it.

[Completed] [Q] PDA version and CSC version denoting different regions?

hey hello to all out there
Basically i am new in the forum but not to its threads which have always been a great help to me when it comes to rooting my smart devices or making them more efficient or whatevr so finally joined it to avial even more fun !
Well i own a Samsung Galaxy S3 GT- i9305 4G LTE which i rooted months back in order to install android kikkat 4.4 .But i later found that the android kikkat versions available den, were not the officail ones and the users complained various problems with the custom ones so i decided to wait for the official release and to install it manually using ODIN!
Now when the officail kikkat is avialable to download i am damn confused about regions i should download from ..coz my PDA version and Csc version denote different regions !
So what i need is some expert advice on this as to what to do in this case when the PDA and CSC /Product code show different regions!? Should i change my csc, den how?n how do i know the correct csc for my device coz my PDA shws i have a multi csc ?(n i dont knw what was my csc before i rooted)
Phone Info
Model:Gt - i9305 4g lte
Country of origin: MADE IN VEITNAM
Original CSC code: VDI
Product Code: GT-I9305RWDVDI
PDA version: I9305XXUEMKC
CSC version:I9305VDIEMK2
Base Band Version:I9305XXUEMKI
Android :4.3
(P.s- I dialed *#06# to knw the IMEI n through it i came to knw that my phone is from germany so my csc should have code that matches with germany code but my csc code i.e VDI matches to ireland )
plsssss help guys!!!!:crying:

help with compilation of driver and firmware update [sm-p905]

i have two questions , first is about compiling eth driver for the sm-p905
sorry i am not clear because i can not post link , i can sent them in pm
i have downloaded the kitkat kernel from samsung after reading : xxxxxx
Mobile Phone SM-P905 P905XXUANAE SM-P905_KK_Opensource.zip
i also downloaded the files at : developer.android
Windows installer_r24.4.1-windows.exe and android-studio-bundle-141.2288178-windows.exe
i want to know what exe i install and how i install the kernel , then i hope to compile the linux kernel driver for the usb3-eth plug xxxxx
my second question is about firmware , i live in france and found my sm-p905 on the web...bad choice because the region is XFM [ south africa ] and still not updated to 5.0.2..
i found a software that i have intalled and seems to be well running at unlocksamsungonlinecom
it does some changes for free : SRS Samsung Product Code change
is it safe ? i want to set region to france XEF
beside that i downloaded my current firmware xfm and the xef 5.02 at samsung-firware.org
the first file is P905XXUANAE_P905OJVANB1_P905XXUANA7_HOME.tar.md5 with a size of 2.461.612.111
the second is P905XXUABOG1_P905XEFABOG1_P905XXUABOF4_HOME.tar.md5 with a size of 2.479.261.778
how can i check the partition sizes because the update is bigger that the old , i saw a tool that can remove apps , is there an other one here for my sm-p905 : RomCleaner 1.0
i could shrink it a bit then do the firmware update using a sd-card after region change ?
what i prefer is to compile the eth driver , but if i update to 5.0.2 then it will no longer work until i ll get the kernel 5.0.2 from samsung , no ?
thank you in advance

s7- 930fd

Hello seniors
i got a s7 box and model no. shown in settings is sm-g930fd with baseband -G930FXXU1APEQ,
and in the phone info app
PRODUCT CODE: SM-G930FZDUXSP
PDA VERSION: G930FXXU1APEQ
CSC VERSION:G930FOLB1APEQ
BASEBAND VERSION: G930FXXU1APEQ
ANDROID VERSION : 6.0.1
i assume as per device seems either of Thailand, Vietnam or Cambodia
but the App says Singapore and model as SM-6930F
Anyways I am in India, but want to use a network which works only with VoLTE, but when I try to activate it it says VoLTE is not supported by your current software version. So seeking help regarding changing region Rom shall solve my issue and if it does , which country variant would best suit for me (preferably India, not an issue if any country variant supports VoLTE).
Expecting expert advise on how to update to another country variant Rom, or any other thing could solve the issue.
thanks
Amit

New Phone Software info Issue

Hi, everyone.
Just bought a new galaxy S7 G930F. I checked the IMEI info on imei.info and it says the phone was released on Feb. 2016. But when I look through my cell phone settings, I found the software info indicate:
Kernel version
...
Mon Jul 4 11:12:05 KST 2016
SE for Android status
Mon Jul 04 11:40:03 2016
Why is Jul? Shouldn't it be Feb? I'm not quite know these phone& software updating stuff. Does it mean the phone has been used before selling to me?
(I haven't linked to wifi or connect to networks since I started the phone.)

SE means security enforcing.. (correct me guys if i'm wrong)... in other words, it means that the latest security patch that was applied by samsung on your device is in july.

Hi mate
Imei are issue before the device is made , if you wish to know when the device was made and if it had a CSC change use an app like PhoneInfo
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo&hl=en
Thank you all for your help! Problem solved!
But one more question...
I did a little search about "CSC" (I don't know what the stuff is.......), and I found this:
Again, as the CSC of a Samsung Galaxy phone firmware contains the code-name of the country/region for which it is build, you can change it to tell Samsung servers that your phone is actually from a different country/region and get official updates for that country. It often happens that a firmware update is released for a particular country and you do not get it in your country. You grab the firmware file but are afraid that you will not be able to get the future official updates on your Android device if you flash a firmware that is not meant for your country.

The baseband version of my S7 is: G930FXXU1APEQ. It seems the baseband region is some European countries. I'm in the US, do you think it is necessary to change the CSC code?

It means Customer Service Code (CSC) and it provides specific configurations and software ( bloatware most times) for the designated region , most times is not big issue having a csc from a different region , unless you are having problems with the signal quality or you are missing an specific service from your carrier .
Anyhow G930F does not have a US CSC specific firmware as this model is the international model not "sold" in the US , you can change the CSC but you need to be root.
I would not worry too much

Hi
The G930FD can also use the firmware of the G930F , the F and FD firmware are the same . Philippines do not show in the country distribution list probably is part of a multi CSC firmware.
What does that mean if it's multi CSC?
