Hi all,
I've been away from the forum for a long while, and while I've been reasonably happy with my Beans (Jelly Beans) version 14, (Android 4.1.2) it's time to upgrade. The problem is that I am overwhelmed by all the new options. Phone is rooted and baseloader unlocked.
Here are my questions:
1. What is a good fast and stable ROM?
2. What version of Android should I upgrade to?
3. Are there any complicated issues I should know about in terms of upgrading to a new ROM?
Thanks to all of you ROM guru's for your help.

The best way is to read the forums and try them. Most roms explain how to upgrade and there are several how-tos also... Going to close this before its reported even more (we generally do not allow best of etc)...
Q&A for [ROM][CM11.0][23/09/2014]Unofficial Cyanogenmod for n8010/n8013/n8000
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [ROM][CM11.0][23/09/2014]Unofficial Cyanogenmod for n8010/n8013/n8000. Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Good but an issue
First of all i want to thank you for this rom. However, have you had an issue with the multitasking button? Mine doesnt work. I can press it but nothing happens except a blank screen. Any fix?
Hello, would you solve IR Blaster issue ? I use your rom for a week now and I find it fantastic, except that I have to get up my bed to turn of TV ?
Sent from my GT-N8013 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
still waiting for new version of CM 11 for n8000
No Mobile internet
I have installed cm-11-20141031-UNOFFICIAL-n8000.zip but it seems there is no mobile internet. I can only connect over internet via Wi-Fi.
Is this correct, or am I doing something wrong?

Unofficial Rom Question
Hi,
Im currently running CM10.2 as an official rom on N8010. If I flash this, would i still be able to keep getting nightly and snapshot downloads from Cyanogenmod or any latest updates from your builds in cmupdater? Instead of manually flashing for each new update.
Thanks

No. Official support for our devices ended at 10.2
S-pen?
Hi everyone,
I need to know how well the S-Pen works with this (or any other custom) ROM.
I use my 8010 extensively, as a note taking device. In my work, I rely on the s-pen heavily. I do all my research work on an app called Lecture Notes and rely on Dropsync app to upload my work to dropbox. I would like to install a custom rom that is cleaner and faster than the original, but s-pen functionality is a make-or-break issue for me. I would appreciate any feedback on this.
Thank you all.

Let me start off by saying that I have yet to find a custom ROM for our device that does NOT have s-pen support. OmniROM, CarbonROM, CM11, all have the s-pen working great, and in apps like Papyrus, or any app that uses the pen specifically, I think an AOSP based ROM is far more responsive than any of the variations of Stock Touchwiz ROM's out there. The only features you will not see on an AOSP based ROM is Air Command, S-Note, or that stupid blue circle cursor that follows the pen hover. Although there are solutions for most of these available in Play Store.
I suggest you take the red pill, and find out just how deep the rabbit hole goes.
wifi not working
wifi is not working with my n8000, it couldn't be connected to the wifi router or a hotspot that shared by Nexus 7
but the hspa+ was working.
why ?

Microphone in a wired hands free
It is peculiar that after the most recent update, my wired hands free stopped working. The headphones work, the button works, but the microphone is silent. I have tried to use a solution from a separate thread - changing gt-n8000 file in /system/etc/sound but it did not help. Don&t you know if it is possible to solve the problem?

IR Blaster Disabled
Love the ROM.
When I updated from stock Android 4.1 to this ROM, I lost functionality of the IR Blaster.
Would love to be able to use my remote apps.
Thanks!
I have a N8010.
But when I try to install the ROM, CWM tells me that my device is p4noterf (N8000).
rom weird issues
Hi, 1st post here =D
I tried to flash this rom to my 8010 with both cmw and twrp and both times it gave me a message that said that my device was n8000. It actually isn't. Anyway since I really wanted to have cm11 on my tablet i flashed the n8000 rom and it worked. The only issues that I found is that the menu button doesn't on work on home screen when using nova launcher, that a process called cell standby is hogging the battery and that I cant unmount the SD card.
Now this is the 3rd device that I root and install cm11 and its the 1st time I've had these issues. If anyone could shed some light and maybe advice I would appreciate it very much.

I had the same issue and I managed to flash the N8000 rom and it works. I just have a problem with the menu button when using nova launcher.
android boot loop?
This mod may not be for my tablet, so I am seeking confirmation.
tablet is GT-N8013 (I assume it is a wifi model, bought it used on ebay. It is not connected through any wireless service)
using CWM v6.0.3.6
android version 4.1.2
I did a factory reset, wiped dalvik and cache.
I had to edit the file as per the FAQ to get the mod to load. When it rebooted it would just 'hang' at the android scroll (hope that makes sense).
Maybe this ROM is not for my tablet? I have used Cynogen on many other devices and like the build.
I was hoping to get this running on my tablet.
Any assistance or confirmation that it is not compatible is greatly appreciated.

I have the 2012 version (N8013) stock ROM, current Android (4.1.2). Non-rooted.
I just bought an Amazon Fire Stick which supports Miracast. Sadly, 4.1.2 does not. So, I'm looking for a custom ROM that (in order of importance):
Supports Miracast
Is highly stable
Has performance improvements
Has new, cool features/functionality
Is reasonably customizable
Really, only the first 2 are critical. The remaining 3 are just nice to haves.
I did do some searching but could not tell which ones supported Miracast.
I know ROMs are highly personal, so it's hard to make a recommendation, but if you could maybe offer some suggestions for me to consider, based on the above, it would be highly appreciated.
(I did install a custom ROM on my Galaxy S2 a while back, so I'm not completely new at it, but it's been a while and I only did the one, so I'm only slightly above a noob on this.)
Thanks for your help!
K,
hi, you might want to consider a custom rom which stays with stock standards. In that case go for gnabo just skip the bootloader
portion.
That's what i did for my n8013 and gnabo did fine.
@nerdyblonde ' beanstalk rom runs well bit i don't know about m-cast as i don't use it. the rom is not supported anymore
by way of updates but i run it as my daily driver and will for some time. bluetooth and wifi direct seem to function well
though i use additional apps for that. i''ve neveer tested the ir blaster so.. [shrug] dunno :silly:
don't forget to make a backup !

What does it mean when a ROM sticks with stock standards? And, what does a bootloader do (and why can I skip it)?
Thanks again!

hi,
i just mean gnabo is basically a custom stock rom.
so hardware issues will be minimal if not null.
skip the bootloader.

So I decided to take my old AT&T Fusion 2 and upgrade it to android 4.0.3. I installed clockworkmod 6 and flashed the ProFusion rom with CyanogenMod 10.1. All went well, but bluetooth isn't working and the site that the rom originally came from, no longer exists so the bluetooth fix method that is used to fix the issue isn't available for download. Is there a way (and I'm new to android development, but willing to take any steps necessary) to rewrite the bluetooth code so that my phone is compatible with bluetooth again? This rom is the only rom compatible with my phone

Hi,
Thank you for using XDA assist
It looks like there is no dedicated forum for your device. However there is a general forum for android here http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help where you can try to ask to get the expert's help
Good luck.
Hi there,
I've done a bit of searching, and not found much, so I thought I would ask. What ROM is the closest I can get to having fully functional AOSP on my device, and how would I go about rooting it?
I have built Android 5.1.1 and Android 6 for my device as per Sony's instructions but I hear neither are usable.
Thanks for any help you can provide!
