Fast charging!?? - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so I'm looking at the z3 specs page on gsmarena and notice it states on there that the z3 has quick charge 2.0, 60% battery in 30mins!
So, why is my z3 charging at the pace of a slug!??. We are talking more like 10% in 30mins charge!

Don't you need a compatible charger for this feature?

You need a Qualcomm Quickcharge 2.0 certified/supportive charger. The Tenergy one on Amazon is cheap and has good reviews. I use my regular charger however.

Oh right, sorry guys, didn't no you need a special charger for it! Would have thought Sony would have provided one

I just ordered this fast charger from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QEX83LA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
mind it doesn't come with a cable, but you could use the HTC stock one since it's of good quality.
If you want a long cable like me, I also ordered this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MLP6HLS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've got this one http://www.amazon.com/Tenergy-Unive...d=1427977501&sr=1-2&keywords=quick+charge+2.0
As long as it says Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 any of them should work.
Any UK ones recommended under £10??

Judging by the quoted spec of 5/9/12V it is the HTC TC P1000 charger, not the TC P900 as shipped in the box (of my EE unit)

can you take a picture of your charger of dose it say Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 on it ?
Anyone in the US (not sure about other regions) can waltz into a verizon store and pick up one of these:
http://www.verizonwireless.com/acce...er-with-fast-charge-technology-for-micro-usb/
Price isn't terrible at ~$35. I'm not on verizon and I don't like all the red, but who cares at the end of the day. Also, the USB cable it comes with has a light on the end. which is handier than I thought it would be. IE: stabbing your phone in the butt when trying to charge it in the dark. I do not regret getting this charger for a second.
I ordered this one. http://www.shopandroid.com/ventev-q...llport-micro-usb-wall-charger/5A255A20425.htm
should be here today.

Is there any way to tell if the phone is actually in quick charge 2.0 charging mode? I bought a car adapter that is certified but I'm curious how to know if it is actually working or not in that charging mode?

(If you can't catch it then it's a quick charge... lol!) Yes there is a way, if you plug in a slow charger you will get a pop up message telling you that you are using a slow charger. I charge my m9 from my PC as it has a built-in USB port for fast charging phones, which can even be used if the PC is powered off.
Will this charger charge the M9 faster? I don't know if it supports that Qualcomm fast charging 2.0 though?

I've had great results from the Choe brand QC chargers LINK. Used it with my M8 now using for my M9.
I got the Anker Qualcomm 2.0 Quick Charger.
It works. Light glows green when my M9 is plugged in. Charges stupid fast.
Takes up one space on the power strip.

I've had pretty good luck in general with Anker stuff, but I've never used one of their quick chargers.

I bought that same charger. Would you be willing to download the free app called Ampere and see what it reports for current when you are using that charger? I am having a very weird issue where Ampere is only reporting about 250mA with that charger but if I use a different charger that is not Qualcomm certified I get upwords of 1500 milliamps. I'm wondering if Ampere is just not capable of handling the calculation on a phone with the Qualcomm Quick Charge technology or if there is something wrong with the charging of my phone.
I just bought these two, and it said I will have them by Sunday; it's Friday!
Two fast charge ports on the wall charger and 1 on the car charger, and the rest of the ports are 2.4 amp 5 volt.

Looking for a fast car charger

Hey guys,
Being a lot on the road, I was started to look for fast charging charger for my car.
I would appreciate if anyone with an experience with one of those chargers will share them.
Thank you

i have been using this one for the last few weeks .. got it on amazon for 16 bucks
Onite 28.5w Dual USB Rapid Car Charger
Bought this one for a road trip and it performed very well. The device doesn't recognize it as a fast charger, but still charges the device from empty to full in about an hour. Also, thanks to KT kernel, I was able to determine that it pulls down just as much current as the OEM charger :good:
Thank you guys

A few months ago I picked up a qualcomm quickcharge compatible charger for around 35 euros including shipping from the US, couldn't find anything cheaper, for a bit less you can pick up an official samsung fastcharger charger
You can't beat this Fast Charger from Verizon. Even has a bright push button LED light on the micro usb end, perfect for plugging the phone in complete darkness.
I got one on amazon (i think) with 4 ports, the bottom being quick charge. Works great. Normally only have quick charge plugged in but its nice to have a few extra spots. even full everything charges nice. I"ll see if I can find a link
THis is what i got and it works great.

For mine, I got a Quick Charge car charger from tech matte. It's pretty standard. It does quick charge, so that's all good. It was only $10, which I think is a pretty decent price.
You can get one from Amazon or eBay I think, and there are so many good products on it, very convenient to choose from.

quick charger 2.0

I just bought iVoler quick charger to try it because the price was low and the reviews said it was quality made. I Just received this the other day, and I plugged in my Z4 Tablet and it said Z4 Tablet detected, so it indeed does support the Qualcomm Quick Charging feature! Charging was fast and held strong with my Z4 Tablet. Charging the battery from 0 to 25% in about 19 minutes. And the 6 foot USB cable is of good quality and really nice. It also fits into my Z4 Tablet with a nice click, and fits well around my case. I will definitely buy more of these!
The great product need to be shared.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WSLRCWI
is safe to use ? I'm just wonder why Sony has not advertised this feature
Well, the Z4 is listed as supporting quick charge on Qualcomm's website: https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/tablets/sony-xperia-z4-tablet.
I have tried 2 quick charge chargers from amazon so far with the z4 tablet.
No problems and it works with most recent xperias and other snapdragons.

What kind of charging times are you seeing with the quick charge 2.0 with a battery that big? i.e. 80% in x mins from empty etc. I have been searching for an answer to this but it doesn't really seem to be posted in times but percents.
Thanks

I use sony uch10 quick charger and it does 0-100% in about 2 and a half hour.
I've just bought a QualComm Quick Charge 2.0 compatible charger and I get the same charge rate of 2.5 hours to 100%. Used to take me up to 6 hours previously.
I am using the Anker Quick Charge 2.0 and it charges the tablet in about 2 1/2 hours. It is on sale right now for $7.99 with promo code QPPAQPP5. The regular price is $15.99. (LINK HERE)

You are welcome. It is a great charger. I use it with my LG G4 as well.
So, the Sony charger that comes with the Z4T isn't a Qualcomm Quick Chare 2.0 charger, right? A quick check says 1,5A / 5V and that's also what I measured with a USB gadget. I got the same results with my QC 2.0 charger from Samsung...
I'll try it again with another QC 2.0 charger.
/edit: yeah, the shipped charger isn't QC 2.0. Not sure why my Samsung charger didn't work out though, but I'll test my Pisen QC 2.0 charger tomorrow
HI guys I just test it with my Galaxy S7 / Note 5 quick charger with the tablet USB cable and I'm getting full charge in 1hour 15 min.

Samsung Fast adaptive CAR charger and M9?

I wonder if the Samsung Car charger Fast Adaptive which is the name sammy gave for Quick Charging 2.0 is compatible with the M9?
The wall charger version work from what I heard but dunno about the Car one
Maybe the output specs could shed some light on interoperability. I'd guess that between the differences of Samsung's Exnos processor and Qualcomm's Snapdragon there isn't much collaboration to build a common fast charging standard. Too bad, that.

QC2.0 is a standard, so if it's QC2.0 compliant, that would seem to suggest it would work with any QC2.0 compliant phone, no?

General properties of batteries. Fast charge and discharge cycles cause them to break down sooner.
Guys, I tested the Samsung Adaptive Fast Charger and it was a no-go. I tried two different ones under ideal charging conditions and what I found was the charger would sync with the phone and boost to rapid charge levels, but it wouldn't sustain them. It kept prematurely stepping back down to slow-speed, lower amperage levels. So IMHO you should save your $$.
The QC2.0 certified chargers that I have found work 100% are the ZeroLemon wall charger and the PureGear 12v car charger. Both will lock the phone on at high rates of charging unless (or until) the phone heats up too much, then charging is throttled until the phone cools down some. My observations are that it will definitely throttle after temps rise above 100F and if you cool the phone down by (e.g.) holding it in front of the A/C vent, rapid charging resumes.
Ok so I tested the Samsung Fast Adaptive Car charger and it's pretty fast even with the screen ON due to the Car App, though better let the screen dim by itself or the phone will get hot.
Conclusion: I recommend this charger even though it's a little bit more expensive than Chinese cheap QC 2.0 that can end up DOA or be bad for your battery
My wall QC 2.0 charger works as it should once over 3 and the screen can be a little weird

Which car charger?

Hello all,
as the title says, which car charger would you guys recommend?
i would like to have 'fast charge' (if that's how Samsung calls it), but, i do not see any car charger offered on samsung website?
i have 'dash charger' from OnePlus 3T device, but, i do not think it can be used?
Thank you for your time and suggestions.

Any charger that supports 2A and has USB port works fine. Use my sammy USB cable to plug in. Charges well even in daylight with satellite gas is active.
You will definitely want one with Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0, it makes such a difference in charge speed. I have this one: http://amzn.to/2f9KVh0, I love Anker for all my charging needs! It costs a bit more than the other options but the perfect 5-star reviews speak for themselves You will also want to get a 3ft USB A to C cable like this one: http://amzn.to/2f9KVh0
Enjoy your awesome new device! With that charger I can go from 50% to 80% in just 20-30 minutes.

No way! I call you on that one. Our 3 year old devices can't quick charge without damage. Please do not post such info without knowing 1st hand. Our custom kernels limit fast charge to 1.8 A for a good reason.
Sorry I thought this was the Galaxy Note 8 (new phone) forum. Confusing from the XDA app... Having a QuickCharge charger won't hurt on old devices, they will charge at the normal 2.1 or 1.8 amps. But I agree in this case (old tablet) it won't help (but it's not like the newer charger will damage the device--they scale back their charging gracefully).
