Headphones! - Galaxy S 5 Accessories

I'm in the market to buy some headphones for my s5, but most of the headphones that i have owned in the past, the buttons (play, volume up, down) doesn't work with the android. Are there any good headphones that are compatible with s5, with sound quality that are worth looking at?

Best In-Ear (Wired) Headphones?

What's the best in-ear headphones with a mic and a button to answer/end and go to next/prev track? $50 max
Thanks
I was about to mention Shure, but with that budget you better stick to the stock headphones. They are not that bad...
I'm looking for the buds that block out sound... Like on the Apple in-ear headphones.

Apologies for the cost, but $50 is seriously pushing it for quality headphones.
If you can spare the extra cash... Check out the Klipsch Image S4's. They're ~$80, but get HUGE props for the cost:quality ratio. I bought em, and amd SO glad I did.
You will not find better at,or near, that range... and you'll find absolutely nothing close under it. The added benefit is quite good noise cancellation capability.
http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones/klipsch-image-s4-earphones/4505-7877_7-33577358.html
These don't have anything for handling media built-in unfortunately. There's a $100 version, but do note they won't work with anything except Apple products. (I almost wasted the extra $20 before doing my research)
Honestly... I don't think ANYTHING exists with everything you're looking for.. (Not at any price near what you're expecting...) Do you do any research before setting a price limit?
Seriously, just stick with the stock headphones and deal w/ no phone interaction. To get headphones w/ the capabilities you're looking for would be well out of your range.
Those Shure headphones are fantastic and do a great job blocking out the sound.
I do have to disagree with the post above regarding not being able to find something for under $50 with good sound quality and noise cancellation qualities.
As I post this I'm listening to music on my Altec Lansing Backbeats in ear earbuds.
http://www.alteclansing.com/uhp206-backbeat-plus-earphones-for-iphone-ipod-MP3-players.html
They are comfortable, have good noise cancellation (by my standards), and have excellent sound quality.
I think they have a great range and the bass doesn't muddy the audio. Best of all (in my opinion) they have cloth cables and don't gave that goofy "one side is 3 times longer than the other so you can wear em behind your head" feature.
They do everything you asked about EXCEPT they cannot hang up a call. :-(
Not a problem as this doesn't really matter to me since I can hang up on the phone or wait for the other party to disconnect.
Bought mine at my local Apple store. They have a 14 day return policy and are $49.95.
I love my Apple In Ear Headphones.
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA850G/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
The mic works great, comes with three sizes of rubber pads, and they are a super comfortable fit.
The buttons work with MixZing but not Music Player. Maybe someone has a plugin or drivers to support native features like volume control.
But the quality of the headphones themselves are way up there. Fantastic audio.
^ I have these now and the buttons DO work for me with the stock music player.. Just not the volume buttons. I'm too crazy about the sound quality and I"m looking for "one step up" from these...
These get great reviews over at head-fi.org
And some of you might think we are obsessed about our phones. The people over there are a notch higher on the totem poll... LOL!

headphones...

Good morning/afternoon/evening,
I am looking for a set of headphones as I am going on a long plane flight next weekend, now I need these to be in a store cause they probably won't get to me by when I leave Friday so please don't suggest amazon.
I am looking for the following specifications to work with my fascinate:
- In ear head phones
- Volume up/down button on head phones (that work)
- Microphone so I can be on a phone call with them in (I will pay extra for these)
-Noise canceling (not mandatory but highly preferred)
I have been looking at these Beats by Dr. Dre - Diddy Beats (Can't link as I don't have eight posts yet) as a possible solution but I just do not know if they are fully functional with the fascinate and I don't want to spend $100 for a set of headphones that will only be partially noise canceling and not get any of the other features. So does anyone know if these headphones can adjust volume and I can talk on them on a fascinate as an Iphone would or is there another pair that does this?
All input is greatly appreciated!
Thank you
May I suggest anything by Sennheiser?
They're known for good quality headphones overall.
Im pretty sure the ibeats with mic aren't compatable to use with mic. I use a$ 80 pair of klipsch s4 headphones. They are excellent. Google and check out some reviews. Although they have no volume control. Good luck.

Klipsch makes an S4i that has volume control and a mic. I just bought some sennheiser MX680's for the gym and they were terrible. I exchanged them for some sennheiser CX300 ii's, much better quality buds. I bit bassy, but good.
If the CX300's didn't work out i was going to go with the klipsch S4's, they are a bit more but from what i've heard they are worth it, and a very very high quality bud.
The s4i's do not control volume on the Fascinate.
The S4s are excellent headphones for the money and mine are still in one piece after a year of heavy use, but I can't comment on if the S4i controls the volume
I have the in ear beats and if u use the right ear piece (comes with like 5) then it cancels well idk if volume up down works with our phone

earphone suggestions?

Looking for some decent/quality earphones that has a working end call/pickup buttons and volume rocker for this phone. Does anyone have suggestions?
I listen to almost anything, but mainly R&B and hiphop. Thanks
Meelectronics has good, cheap solutions that actually sound very good.

It would help if you listed a budget, since headphones can go from $2 to thousands of dollars very easily.
All you need to know: Shure
I think I would say the absolute highest id pay is like 100. But that's a little steep. I'm aiming for around 30-40 and quality. just seeing what's a good bang for your buck that would certainly be an upgrade to cheapo stock iPhone ones. And The samsung ones the phone came with, the left earbud stopped working a couple days ago. And I haven't even played it that loud.
Thanks for the suggestions

For under $40, I'd go Meelectronics, for sure. In fact, the exact ones I linked you.

I bought my Shure 115's for 55 on Amazon. A little out of your budget of 30-40 though. At that range, I'd definitely look at the sennheisers. I had the CX300's and loved them.
and just to confirm the ones you guys listed, the button controls (volume) work for the phone?
i appreciate the help yall

My bad, I totally missed out on the volume control part of your original post... The Shure's I have don't have controls, but I know they have a version that has it. Not sure if it works though.
The Sennheisers do not have controls.
V-Moda is another brand that I think does well with hip-hop music, and I know they have phones that have controls on the wires.
Yup - if you were looking for generic headphone ideas I'd be able to help, but the volume/call control/mic stuff leads to "no clue".
In my opinion, Skullcandy headphones with Comply foam eartips provide great "bang for the buck" but I have no idea whether their call control features work with our phones. My Skullcandy Titans are plain vanilla "listen only" units.
Klipsch s4i may work

so based on some searching around.. there really aren't any headphones that allow u to use the volume controls for the phone (or any android phone for that matter). this sucks.

Those don't work with Android apparently for the controls. They just released these for that very purpose.
But yeah, on a budget, you can't beat these earbuds for sound quality.
The one that came with the phone dont do it for you? im on the same boat as you music wise and after im done listening to music i need some time to recuperate my hearing back. sounds all smuffled.
what im saying is that the ones that come with the phone are fine. good bass. i really like them.
I have iBeats, and really like them but the volume rocker does not work. would be nice if it did
you wont find volume rocker support, just a single button where the function depends on the app. i think it has to do with android not having a set standard on pin-out so the app developers dont write these things in (there are i think 4 posible pinouts, 2 posible ground loop locations of those pinouts, the i9000 and vibrant are different from and completely incompatable with the captivate and infuse do to a different ground loop location, not sure which standard the other sgs devices use..) you need a single button set of headphones with a mic that is compatable with the iphone, not the vibrant/i9000.
i hear that dennon makes amazing headphones in the <$40 range. year shure and klipsh and etymotics are great but for what you are looking for the dennons are about the best in that price range. dont go with the ibeats monster doesnt know jack about headphones and all there products are grossely overprices, i bought them out of curiosity and yeah they're loud, have nice packaging and good build quality but the sound isnt so impressive.

The left ear speaker blew. So that's why Im in the market for some decent ones. I was thinking of just ebaying the same OEM ones. But that Klipsh s4a is sorta intriguing. Pricey though. I'll take a look at the dennons. Thanks.

If you are willing to spend $50 then I'd recommend the Plantronics BackBeat 903+. They are bluetooth with builtin working call controls, pause/play button (tested and works with pandora and music player apps), and volume control buttons.
Yes they are pricey but with all those features and being completely wireless (minus the cord that connects the 2 ear pieces) they are well worth it. The sound quality is awesome IMO.
Edit: Here'e the link for them on Amazon.

looks cool, never tried. but even this app doesn't add volume rocker support. it is not a feature availible on android as far as i know. this app interperates the single button press and relays the command to android. volume control is accomplished by a long press or something.
but i can confirm that you want apple compatible headphones, just ones with a single button, not 3! the ground ring and control ring are identical to the iphone. do not buy headphones labeled for the galaxy s if there is such a thing. att must have spec'd the headphones to be iphone compatible to ensure there headsets for the iphone would work. there are atleast 4 standards for pinouts and the european sgs and the vibrant and others use a different standard.

Earphones with microphone and remote controller

My stock HTC headset stopped working, and now i'm looking for a replacement. I like the sennheiser mm 30i, but i'm not sure the remote works correctly, can anyone confirm this? Could you also suggest something else with similar characteristics?

I just bought a set of Dre Beats that comes with the new HTC Sensations off eBay, many people who have bought the phone and don't want to listen to their music on it are selling the earphones for upto £50.
I use a set of Beyer Dynamic MMX100 In-ear phones/headset- excellent set of headphones, I find Sennheisers to be slightly too transparent/tinny and all Beyers seem to be slightly warmer- good enough for the majority of the music industry/music studios etc then good enough for me
They are usually £120 RRP, but if you look on Amazon.co.uk, one seller has them in stock and selling them for £79.99 with free delivery (Amazon currently selling them for £102.11).
I use Dr Dre Beats Tour headphones, they're very good sound quality and the mic works, a little on the expensive side though.

I thin you must try Smartphone Experts Stereo Headsets (3.5mm).
It has good sound quality.
It combines integrated headset technology with a stereo sound isolating design to deliver rich, detailed sound while blocking outside noises.

I have a pair of Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket with mic and they work great. They are not expensive and they remote works with call and music. Not a bad choise if you want something cheaper
Stay away from Iphone compatible gear with analog volume control, i.e. trim pot, they be mono on HTC Desire. My own experience...
considering the Dr. Dre Beats!
Dr.Dree beats headphones, i tried Monster Beat headphones and they are fantastic I will try my best to get them here it is 50 euros, because a lot of people didn't wanted headphones
Sony Ericsson MW600 - my choice. comfortable and good quality.
Suggest you check out the HTC RC-E190 flat cabled in-ear headset. It is HTC branded from Expansys and has remote controls for calls and music which work well with Desire. It is available on Amazon for £10.28 with free shipping too. Decent quality too.
Ultimate Ears 400vi are also decent In-Ear headphones and they work well with the desire.
Sony Ericsson MW600 +1
Can't believe no one mentioned Jays?
Their value is amazing. Not the best In-Ear headphones at all, but considering their price they're amazing. Most audiophile forums I've checked find them to be better than Beats by Dre's in-ear series. I'm not a big fan of Beats (you don't get alot for your money, unlike Grado).
Check out a-JAYS One+ (the plus makes the difference). They come with a mic + remote (control button) and an app so you can decide what the button does. Standard settings are:
1 click: Music; pause/play - Call; answer/hang up
2 clicks: Music; next track - Call; reject call
1 click+hold, 2 clicks+hold and so on.
Got 'em myself. Works like a charm. And the sound is amazing.
Is there any remote control for Desire, which allows me to plug in my own headphones? I want something like the Nokia music controller. I don't need any mic, only volume controls (of the phone, not only of headphones!) suffy. Thanks

Earphones for nexus 4 and iphone.

I'm looking for some earphones, as the official ones that came with the phone are broken. I'm searching for something with good audio quality and with handsfree function. I prefer to spend more one time than buying them two or three times. I'm going to use them with the nexus 4 for the hands free function and with the iPhone 4 for listening to music.
Any advice?. I'd like to buy them from amazon if possible.
Interesting, I didn't get earphones with the phone
Sennheiser
I got a pair of Xiaomi Pistons 2.0 after I lost the original ones (@Mashed_Potatoes: btw, headphones are only included in some versions of the N4, depending on the region. For example: french version has them) and they sound fantastic, especially considering they're dirt cheap. And the build quality is excellent too, way, WAY better than the cheapo plasticky ones that come with the N4. But be sure to get the ORIGINAL ones, lots of clones are around on ebay and chinese sites.
One thing worth knowing: no matter what headset you get, on the N4 only ONE button will work. This means that even on headsets that have 3 buttons (like the Xiaomi ones) only the central button works. This cannot be fixed unfortunately (I looked into it) the hardware just doesn't detect the extra buttons. So don't expect the skip track / volume controls to work, on any headset.

Thanks, I'll look into them. BTW yes, my phone is french, so it came with headphones. The buttons are not a problem, I only want to be able to start/pause a song and pick up/hang up a call.
I'm using these... Sound is awesome...Not to sure if they work on iPhone tho...
Single button ops with volume slider.
Short press to activate music app, long press to activate voice dialing
I bought a set of meelectronics m9p which come with volume slider and a single button
works like a charm,i'm able to control the volume with the slider, pick and terminate calls
2clicks for previous song and 3 for next song
long press for voice commands
as a gift for xmas i received a set of "house of marley" (liberate) headphones and imho are astonishing the bass sound is incredible
would definitely recommend
IMHO the best ear buds for the price on the market...
Personally, the Bose In-Ear line of earphones (with headset microphone) has served me very well:
I'd link you to them, but I'm a new poster and I can't provide links in my posts just yet. But if you Google "Bose In Ear Headphones" the main page for them will show in the first few hits.
In particular, these two models work with both Apple and Samsung Galaxy (Android) devices in terms of the buttons:
SoundTrue in-ear headphones — Samsung Galaxy - 149.99
SoundSport in-ear headphones — Samsung Galaxy - 129.99
IMO, there shouldn't be much of a difference with either of the two listed above. Apparently the sport ones are more sweat/weather resistant. IMO who cares? I guess with a 20.00 price difference one could choose to swing either way on that?
I own the apple-only in-ear headphones and I can tell you from experience that they work fine with the Nexus 4. The volume buttons don't work, but I can hold the middle button down to get Google Voice functionality. If I want to hang up the phone, just press the middle button once. While playing music, press one to pause, press once again to resume. Two quick presses advances to the next song.
My assumption is that the two that I linked to you in the list (Samsung Galaxy ones) should provide volume and better advancement through music because they're compatible with the device, which is android.
But the best part about them is that the sound is amazing and NO PAIN no matter how long I use them because they are supported by the inner frame of your ear, not your ear canals. I listen to a lot of electronica, mainly house music, and both the base and treble sound awesomely balanced.
The price point is comparable to the two best in-ear headphones on the Bob Marley site you posted.
Happy Hunting!

I use the iLuv earphones which is also handsfree.. They have great sound and manufacturing quality.. I am from Greece though and I don't know if they sell them anywhere else..!
I finally got the xiaomi pistons v2.1. They sound REALLY great although the volume buttons don't work.
Me too I'm using Pistons 2. They sound good, but I had to install the largest rubber rings. With smaller one, sound leaked from ears and bass frequencies were very weak. Luckily Pistons come with 4 different rubber rings sizes.
