FM Radio disabled in airplane mode, why ? - Verizon HTC One (M8)

This bugs me.
Why does FM radio disable when you turn on airplane mode? FM Radio uses the headphone cable as the antenna, so why does this have ANYTHING to do with cell reception ??? Is it a safety feature for airplane mode, or is the tuner built into the same chip or something ?
Any way around ? Mod ? Hack ? Workaround ? This is ridiculously stupid.
(I have tried other FM Radio apps and same thing, "The radio is disabled when in airplane mode. Please turn off airplane mode to use the radio".... What ? VenomTweaks also has a setting for 'AirplanemodeRadios' which allows you to choose what radios are disabled, unfortunately FM Radio is not one of them ...)
So, is there a way to disable to cellular communications without disabling the entire chip ? (As an alternate airplane mode) ? Or any other way to use FM Radio with airplane mode on and/or cellular disabled ?
------
EDIT:
------
Out of curiosity, I forced the phone into cellular mode it doesn't support (effectively have zero bars, no service), disabled cellular data and wifi, started FM Radio , and it works as expected. This isn't what I plan to do, I just did it to test prior to somebody asking me if I tried that ... I guess if it's built onto the same chip its not possible to turn it off separate but there should be a way anyways ...
Any ideas ?
Thanks!

Wifi on Phone off ?

With 802.11 being allowed on some flights, mainly through Connexion by Boeing it means that with flight mode we should still be able to turn wifi on and off. I believe that it is still a requirement to have the phone off.
Anyone got any ideas if this is at all possible ?

[Q] Will GPS Work Alone?

I'm talking, with airplane mode on. Your wireless/mobile networks off, wifi off...everything. Would just using GPS enable you to still use Maps and Navigation?
Guess not, I did some driving around and it seems to need the mobile network to work.
Not very useful if you leave the country unless you want to pay those outrageous roaming charges.
GPS will work by itself but you will either have to download the map info using wifi for google maps or buy a navigation app like navigon.
When you do airplane mode gps is turned off too. Just turn off mobile networks and wifi and check.

[Q] RADIO

Hi all
Would it be possible, in any way, to be able to listen to fm radio in airplane mode?
Thanks in advance!!!
in airplane mode all wireless connectivity is blocked so that while u use ur phone in airplane, ur phones signals wont mess with radio signals of airplane and wont cause any prob.
only wifi connectivity will work in airplane mode, all other wireless things will be stopped, even bluetooth also.

Disable all radio interfaces

I have the need to disable all 2 way radio interfaces on my devices, cell, wifi, bluetooth, I still need to be able to use GPS so simply hard setting airplane mode to on is not useful to me. I would prefer to do this by not opening everyone device I own and clipping wires. I was wondering if there is either and APP or MDM solution that allows this level of control over the device. Any help or at least someone pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated.

Wifi sharing bypass Airplane Mode?

So we all know that there's Wifi Sharing capability on the s8.
I want to know if there's a way to bypass needing to be in Radio ON mode. The reason I say this is because, I want to use this on the plane. I want to be able to buy one internet access plan on the flight then be able to share the connection through Wifi Sharing. But the issue is that we cannot share wifi in Airplane mode?
I have the dual sim version on the phone. I figured keeping airplane mode off and going into the settings to turn off data in SIM1 and GPS would be ideally the same as airplane mode. Is this true? Or is there something we can tweak to use wifi sharing while in airplane mode?
Why do you feel that you need to have airplane mode turned on? Just enable wifi sharing and forgetaboutit.
I'd say because the phone gets crazy hot and if you're not tethered to a battery pack, you won't last an hour with the screen off.
