[Q] No space on System-Rom left - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After update to lollipop & Root & enabling CWM I installed the xposedv5.zip.
Now my Moto G tells me that there is not much space left. Titanium Backup shows only 20,5 MB left on System-Rom.
Is there anything I could do to get more free space on system rom without loosing functionality?

Reboot into CWM and wipe dalvik/cache.

Doesnt work.
The Message does not appear when I do not install the xposed.zip.
The Space on a Moto G1 after the Lollipop Update+Root is 27MB left on System-Rom.
PS.
I think Dalvik is not used under Lollipop and the cache is not stored on the system-rom

If you do not wipe Dalvik / Cache in recovery after flashing the xposed zip - you get this error.

Under applications there wasn't a way to clear the Market cache. But when I cleared the Dalvik Cache I was then able to manually load all of the apps.
Clearing the Dalvik was probably overkill hehe.
I kept getting this error last night. Cleared the cache which didn't help but then I rebooted and it was fine. Reboots are usually the easiest fix
The market has its own cache for downloading files. It then installs them from the cache and then deletes the downloaded file. If you are trying to update or install many programs at the same time, the cache can get full and you will get this error. If some of the programs are large apks just download or update them individually and you should not get the error. This has nothing to do with device memory, just the limited size of the market's download cache.

[Recovery] Moto E LTE TWRP 2.8.6.0 (RM -RF Always On)

*removed*
It's awesome. Usually, wiping system, cache and data lasted like 5 or 10 minutes, I tested this recovery and it wiped everything so quickly. Thank you so much for this .
Edit: Installing works.

Here is TWRP for Moto E LTE with "Use rm -rf instead of formatting" enabled by default.
Moto E LTE uses f2fs format for the userdata partition and TWRP doesn't format it correctly by default, causing issues with mounting.
# README
Warning: backup any important data on your internal storage first!
Boot into TWRP and perform the following:
Wipe > Format Data > type "yes" then enter
This will format your userdata partition using mkfs.f2fs, in case it isn't already
Now, whenever you wipe data, TWRP will use rm -rf instead of attempting to format using make_ext4fs

When I try to format data it fails, it's unable to mount anything. My phone is a surnia XT1527. Now when I try to flash it says unable to mount /data.
wiped system, devlik cache, data, internal storage, chache. dont know how to restore
I had a problem with someone using remote spy software and hiding spy apps on my phone. I have a MOTO E 2015, XT1527. I had this phone rooted with a custom rom installed. my OS was lollipop.
I went into TWRP recovery and wiped:
devlik cache
system
data
internal storage
chache
USB-OTG
I did not have an SD card inserted at the time
I am not very knowledgable on all of this (not so tech-savy but can follow instructions), but I need to fix this phone asap.
My phone keeps re-starting and will not go any further than the boot animation screen (if that's correctly stated). I can get into recovery mode but that's it. I have no backups. recovery tells me that I have uninstalled the OS, which I'm guessing means I have uninstalled everything else too!
I don't know what to do from here, what to do first or how to do it, I do have access to a computer, and need help PLEASE!!! I have been looking up ways to fix this but cant find clear answeres directed to this phone and problem specifically.

Definitely wiped everything. You need to download a ROM, boot into recovery and install it.
So glad I found this thread! I'm using the latest 3.0.2.0 but this setting saved me from going crazy!
I was seeing too much red Big thanks!

Need help relocate dalvik-cache to get more space on the moto g

Hey everyone I got a moto g xt1032 since kitkat and on kitkat it was possible to relocate the dalvik cache to cache/ instead of data/ (i think not sure) but it was not possible when cm12 came out because lollipop has an higher dalvik cache size but now im on marshmallow 6.0.1 cm13 and now the dalvik cache is less than 600mb wich is what you need to relocate the dalvik cache folder...can anyone tell me how could I relocate the dalvik cache folder so we can get more storage space on marshmallow? I did it like the kitkat version but I think im doing it wrong I wipe my phone 3 times trying to make it work...can someone help me please?

Are you doing a full TWRP wipe before flashing the ZIPs?
Start Page TWRP> [WIPE]> [FORMAT DATA]> type YES press Blue CHECK in bottom right. - NP
No. I will format data & see what happens.
Thanks
John
I formatted Data and then changed to f2fs format. I received the same error: Insufficient storage space in System partition. I used TWRP 2.8.6.0. to format and to try to flash.
When I format Data should all my Apps get removed? All my apps are still present after format and changing to f2fs.
Anyway still stumped and would appreciate any help.
Thanks

Update the TWRP to 2.8.7.4 found here;
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=24352994023705510
And yes all you apps should be gone you might also try a factory reset before you format data, circled int the pic. - NP
Thanks for your help.
All is working. Reflashed TWRP (latest 3.2 version and the TWRP app). Factory wipe, formatted data and then changed to f2fs format (all with TWRP). Installed KitKass 7.2.1 and gapps pico. Configured network and browser. Setup app did not work; kept shutting down so I installed system from my nandroid.
:highfive:

Do I need to format data (deleting everything) to install lineageOS?

Hello, forum!
My current Pixel 2 is using the stock google system but I haven't updated the OS since March, partly because it's rooted
and the update process is not as easy.
Now that google said it'd only support the phone till this December, I'm thinking to install lineageOS.
However according to its installation guide:
...
3. Now tap Wipe.
4. Now tap Format Data and continue with the formatting process. This will remove encryption and delete all files stored in the internal storage.
...
It's surprising that it need clear internal storage?
p.s. I may also think about installing Resurrection Rom. Does it require 'formatting data' then?
Afaik you must back up everything before installing new ROM, because when you install custom ROM you will wipe and format system and it will erase everything in your internal storage
If its rooted try modded version of twrp to backup your internal data as well

No, it's not, nobody wipes /data/media during rom replacement only /data.
However if his bootloader is locked, bootloader unlock will wipe everything, so before switching from stock a backup is must.
Alright, guys. Thanks for the input. Guess I'll just backup the internal storage and do as told.
