[Q] USB-3 mode - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Maybe this was asked already, but here goes ...
Why is there a timeout on USB-3 mode?
By default, the cellphone is on USB-2 mode.
If you go into options and select USB-3, it only stays in that mode as long as data is being transfered.
When the transfer stops, it remains in USB-3 mode for 5 minutes, then reverts back to USB-2.
Why ???
Is there a way to change this so that doesn't happen?
Thanks.

XDA Mini-S - Can anyone tell me how to get this auto-sleep mode to work again please?

Hello, I have a XDA Mini-S which I have had to do a reset on. Before the reset it would go automatically into sleep-mode after a period of time, I do mean sleep not screen off, and to wake it the power button had to be pressed but it would still receive calls. Now all I can get is screen off mode, the settings being in the power settings, and to switch the screen on all you have to do is tap the screen. I do know the sleep mode can be entered manually by pressing the power button once.
Can anyone tell me how to get this auto-sleep mode to work again please?
Thanks, Guy.
setting->system->power->advacned check on battery power checkbox turn off device if not used for pick nr of minuts in the dropdownbox thats what the rest of us do
Cheers, that's excellent. Why on earth don't they mention that in the manual? When I read that section, I assumed it ment you had to enter a password every time the divice went into sleep mode, and that would be a real pain!

Airplane Mode and Restarts

Just started using Polaris this week, but finding a problem with Airplane Mode...
When I go to bed at night Airplane mode goes on. Some nights Backup kicks in and restarts the phone afterwards. On Artemis, no problem, phone comes back up in Airplane mode. On Polaris, the phone always comes on with Phone on, so the next text message/email wakes me up!
Any idea how to make it stop turning the phone on when the unit restarts? I need my sleep!
Not a solution but why not put it on Silent? That's what I do and so far I've been sleeping like a baby.
Or you could try switching Phone off in the com manager instead of switching Airplane mode on.
Thanks, can't put it on silent as then my alarm won't wake me up...
Will try the Phone setting, see if that works...
Yes, that works, but it's a PITA beacuse I can use Long End Key Press to toggle Airplane mode, but need to use Comm Manager to turn Phone on and Off.
Found it:
HKLM\Software\HTC\CommManager\UseMSFlightMode
Defaults to 1, in which case Phone always comes back on after reset, set to 0, state before reset is respected.
Y don't you put a pin code on your sim card?
first you'll have a good protection if you lose your phone (no surprise call oversees...)
and if the polaris restarts the it wound connect to the gsm/umts without you entering the pin...
Hope it helps..
Thanks, but I'm too lazy to put a PIN in every time I restart...
In any case, the regedit above fixed the problem perfectly.

[Q] sleep time changes

I set my screen at times to never go into sleep mode. Then I turn of the screen and its reset my option back to 30 seconds. Any reason why or what I should do? I haven't done anything yet. Typical answer is to reboot and I hope I don't have to. Ideas?

[Q] Lockscreen never turns display off

So I'm using Stock Android 5.0.1 Nexus 5.
The problem is my lockscreen never turns itself off.
So the phone goes to sleep from any normal screen after 1 min (as per settings).
This turns the display off and everything is fine.
But if I manually get the lockscreen up by pressing the power button or by plugging in a charger the lockscreen will stay on forever. I think its supposed to turn off after 10 - 15 sec or so but it doesnt do that anymore.
So every time I plug in a charger I have to make sure I turn the display off again.
I'm not sure when it started. I have dev options enabled on the phone but I never found any setting to fix this anywhere.
Edit: Reboot fixed it for now but I'm pretty sure its recurring. Well with luck its not.
Reboot

[Nougat]Stuck in "Max Power Saving" mode, keyboard doesn't come up to enter password!

[Nougat]Stuck in "Max Power Saving" mode, keyboard doesn't come up to enter password!
I have a Verizon Note 5. I recently updated to Nougat. I was running low on battery and it prompted me to turn on the power savings mode. It gave me options like reduce screen resolution, brightness, background services etc.. and how much time you'll be gaining by reducing those. I selected all and saved it. Now it became like the "Ultra" power saving mode. The device was locked automatically about 1 minute or so and now when I try to unlock it, the fingerprint feature was missing. It asks for the password (which I know) but the keyboard (I use Swiftkey) won't come up! I'm unable to enter the password and unlock the device. I'm stuck in the Ultra power saving mode.
I was able to pull down the top menu (that has options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Power Saving etc.) on the lock screen and I tried to disable Power Saving mode but it again prompts for the password with no way to enter the password as there is no freaking keyboard.
I have Package Disabler and I MAY have disabled the default Samsung keyboard. Is there any way out other than a factory reset? I booted into the recovery mode and was able to get to ADB "sideload" mode but not the regular/usb mode. I couldn't push anything to the device. I can take calls and only make calls from the ICE contacts (through Emergency option on the lock screen).
I have downloaded N920VVRS3BQA1_N920VVZW3BQA1_N920VVRS3BQA1_HOME which I believe is the last Android 6.0 firmware. If I flash this via Odin, is the data wiped out? Is there any way I can at least get the data back?
Can I get one of those micro usb to female usb cable and plugin in a physical keyboard on the lock screen? Would that work? I just need a way to enter password.
Any suggestions?
