Since my One S C2 wifi/bt has died(it just wont turn on after a discharge) and to get phone to boot I have to use wrong kernel. Since I can't use wi-fi to update applications I have to use internet passthrough. It works perfectly fine on my dads laptop with windows xp but it wont work on my pc with 8.1. Any ideas how to fix it? Its really annoying... Fastboot/ADB works fine because I used the FrankenUSB method to fix it.

Damn. May I ask, why you can't use original firmware BUT have to use a wrong kernel to use your phone. Can't imagine that its not fixable.

Simply saying "My Wi-Fi doesn't work." is very, very general. Be more specific. What's going on with it specifically?

Are you sure it isn't router related? Do you get an error message or failing to obtain ip address.
Sent from my Inspire 4G or Desire HD or whatever this thing is called via XDA app.
I rebooted and it worked. Running CM 7 nightly 8. Stock Kernel.
it just hangs at optaining ip address and doesnot move from there, also, i got fed up n went back to stock unrooted and it still doesnt work, but it was working before i started all this madness
Do other devices on your network have any trouble accessing the wireless router? What kind of router is it?
Hi guys i have a problem, my phone always goes to auto speakerphone when i make calls and receive calls, however when i flash back to the stock ROM and radio the problem goes away but when i re rooted the phone and flash any ROM the phone goes to auto speakerphone, by the way my phone was working great this pass few months and it was rooted. Any help will be appreciated
I'm sorry that this happens to you, it seems this error is very rare.

Dont know if this will help but this is a common problem with htc's. There are 2 pins in the usb port that get shorted out with gunk, rust, or whatever. I use a pick, some contact cleaner and some fine cloth to clean the pins. I also use compressed air to blow it out. This has happened to a ton of my friends evo's and both of my inspires. Its annoying as hell I know. Hope this helps, good luck

Thanks for the answer but unfortunately it doesn't fix the problem
I also have this same issue... Works fine no problems on stock unrooted. But once I root I get this same problem.. I have had this same issue in the past but never only on a rooted phone.. I have also been on a rooted ROM for a long time and this issue popped up last week.. Now I am stuck with stock until I can figure this out.

UPDATE: I have the stock ROM but rooted and it works well, however if i install another ROM the problem starts again, I install cyanogenmod and found out what is causing the problem, the car dock mode is automatically turning on, also the car dock apk from other ROMS are newer than the car dock apk from the stock ROM
I was able to disable Cardock in Virtuous Unity but still got the speaker phone issue... I guess HTC fixed this issue in the newest Inspire Rom because of all the phones returned because of it, but those fixes haven't been implemented in community roms.. That's the only explanation I can come up with.
UPDATE: I installed the stock ROM rooted and was working well, but when i changed the kernel the problem was back.

Here is a kernel for CM7 removing dock accessory detection based on the latest CM7 kernel. If someone wants to build a version for Sense or based on another kernel, just unselect config_usb_accessory_detect and config_dock_accessory_detect support under USB Support > USB Gadget Support > Dock Accessory Detect in the kernel config before building.

I've had this problem for over 2-3 months now.
It happened when I updated my ROM to the newest Cm11 kit kat ROM.
I tried flashing different versions, currently i reverted my ROM to an older 4.2.2 CM 10.1 ROM thinking it would solve the problem but it still remains.
The wifi button is grayed out, and is always saying "Turning wifi on...". However, when I go into wifi (where the said msg is) i can change the button but it doesn't make a difference.
Bluetooth too doesn't work (the button won't stay on "ON")

if you are on S-OFF use wifix manager app and see how it goes
otherwise check the antenna which is responsible for wifi in the back cover and see if it makes connection
try to lift it up gently
I tried using WiFix manager and all I think it did was change the region code to which ever country I set it.
Although it gives me an error when i try checking for updates.
I'm not sure about the antenna though (tried nudging it), don't think it's a hardware problem since I can't get Wifi to turn on and search for networks.
Edit: I get no or weak reception without the cover, should that happen?

what error do you have?
did you try to use a ruu.exe?
When i dial *#94349# i get "Connection problem or invalid MMI" whilst I'am connected to the internet via 3G (it works).
And, no. I haven't used ruu.exe.

it restores everything back to stock
then you can check if wifi works
if it still fails then probably it is hardware failure
try also NextGenGTR's suggestion
I have 3 phones with the same issue. One is S-Off and custom firmware and ROM, two are completely stock. It isn't a hardware issue for sure. It came due to some software bug. I don't know is it a bug in firmware, in radio or in kernel...

Nah, only thing lifting my cover does is that my cell loses reception.
Currently I'am meddling with android sdk which I need for the ruu.exe to work properly.
God it sure is quite a lot workaround to get this thing to setup properly.
Hey guys,
My HTC One 4.4.2 Kitkat Wifi, Bluetooth and FM radio no longer work and will not turn on and stay in "turning on" mode.
I woke up one morning without any changes and my phone just could no longer use Wifi. I did a complete wipe of everything OS etc and flashed a new rom Android Revolution HD and wifi still will not turn on. I cleared the catche etc when doing this and flashed the boot.img
Since my phone is rooted it's warranty will most likely be void so fingers crossed it's something i can fix. Just seems weird how it stopped working out of the blue like this.
I have searched but most people with this problem seem to have it once flashing a new rom.

You should flash your phone back to full stock e.g. by running a RUU. Whats your HTC One model (m7/m8 free/carrier branded) ???

Seems as there is no matching RUU. But i have found a stock rom backup. Its flashable via CWM. --> LINK
Yea
Been struggling trying to find a stock RUU also. Will that RUU work using TWRP as i thought to flash a RUU you only had to enter into fastboot mode,

Lately, I'm experiencing a lot of problems with my Xperia L. For one, when I turn on Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, the phone just hangs for about five minutes before finally activating them. The same case applies to when I activate a wireless hotspot on my device. When I tap on 'enable wireless tethering', the phone completely hangs. This has really started getting on my nerves! :crying:
Also, when I capture multiple photos from my camera, I'm finding that some images are automatically rotated. I have to manually rotate them, which, of course, is no child's play.
Another issue that I'm facing is that the phone's gotten a bit unresponsive. It doesn't fire up applications like it previously did (not that I have many apps installed too. Just 4).
All this has got me thinking, was the Xperia L a waste of money? No firmware upgrades coupled with tons of bugs!
Should I risk it and go for a custom ROM? I really need some advice, fellow users! Please reply as soon as possible! :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

It seems like you are on Stock ROM. If you have not done it already, try do a factory reset i know its not an easy task but it may bring your happy days back. If you are not a big Fan of Sony UI you can try Many KitKat ROMS that are available updated with Latest sources 4.4.4.
Very soon we might have almost Bug Free KitKat Custom ROM's, Its your wish to Flash a Custom ROM. (Losing Warranty)

I Also have this problem with WIFI and Bluetooth. Cant switch em on. I was on 4.2.2 update...
At first WIFI & BT are fine. About 2 weeks ago it starts restarting. When I'm lucky enough to reach inside the Setting and use phone for sometime, I tried to turn on wifi... Phone hangs... then restart.. Sometimes it takes several "auto" restart before i can operate the phone. But after those, everytime I turn on WIFI.. it hang/restart. Also happen w/ bluetooth.
I tried flashing/downgrade to 4.1.2 stock rom w/ flashtool. The restarting stopped/fixed... BUT, there's no way I can turn on wifi. i keeps switched off everytime i tried.
Finally, I installed CM11 kitkat cw. Everything looks new and fine ans smooth.. BUT... still cannot switch on wifi! and bluetooth!! >.<
I dont know what to do. Is this a hardware problem?? or is there a fix/zip i can flash to fix this??
HELP.

I resolved the issue! It's going to sound extremely silly, but it worked wonders for me.
Basically, I deleted all downloaded apps that require a 'Full internet access' permission (The one with the WiFi icon), and viola! WiFi and Bluetooth work wonders now. I noticed this problem when I uninstalled Cleaner Master, and WiFi and Bluetooth jumped to life.
This is, however, a major setback. I can now download only a limited number of apps..
But hey, at least WiFi and Bluetooth work, so I've got that going, which is nice...
Any reasons why this may be happening guys?

You should perform a clean install of latest stock ftf. Looks like there's a problem with your kernel too. So flashing will put a new life to your phone. Remember to do clean install of firmware including kernel and wipe data alongwith resetting customizations.
