Hi,
Apologies if this has been asked countless times but I've done a quick search and found nothing relating to recovery with the NG8 build.
I have rooted the device but cannot access the stock recovery. The blue writing comes up when I boot but then the device powers down.
I'm in the UK on T-Mobile with the GT-I9505 version, Android 4.4.2, build NG8.
Is there a fix for this? I am contemplating putting a custom recovery on but want to make sure that's not going to brick the device on this particular build.
I've seen a lot of posts about the MF3 version having a locked bootloader but not the NG8 so just want some clarification please.
Many thanks.
Chris
Bud, i think you meant to post this in the Galaxy S 4 forum, this is galaxy s 4g (sgh-t959v)

I realize this is a new phone, but its relatively cheap price, decent specs and the fact it is on a contract free carrier make for a potentially popular phone.
There are a few threads elsewhere ie:
androidforums Attain 4G - All things Root
There are no specific forums for this device on XDA yet.
Please, please, please let the development begin!
I am willing to use my phone as a test device and assist in whatever way possible. I would like to find a stock img to flash back to if everything fouls up though.
Thank you XDA Devs!
Samsung Galaxy Attain™ 4G LTE (SCH-R920)
Generally
Who sets up a new forum? This is different from the Samsung Galaxy S II Attain on AT&T. (Hence why this thread is here...)
Samsung Galaxy Attain™ 4G LTE (SCH-R920) is on the MetroPCS vendor, with its own issues.
Personally
I've tried compiling tarballz to build a new kernel zImage from opensource.samsung.com (cygwin, Sourcery G++/Bench lite, Odin), flashed the kernel tarball in the PDA section of Odin, notice a red 'KERNEL' verification FAILED, and wouldn't go past SAMSUNG screen; boot loops. New fix to stop exploits?
I'm an idiot, and bricked my phone. It's been bricked for a week now. Need fix plz. OEM ROM?
Is anyone working on this? I've seen maybes, but nothing firm. Don't know my specs, but I assume the same as this page.

There is no development underway for the attain. The only option is a pre rooted flash able tar. Someone was able to get their hands on a rooted rom which can be flashed via Odin. There are no custom roms but u will have super user access and full root. Please also be aware there is no clockwork recovery, so no nandroid or flashing zips.
I recently bought a Samsung Multi Media dock that I finally got to work reliably. I'm not impressed with the experience so I want to flash my phone over to a custom rom so I can tweak settings (and recover from it if I screw it up). I used to have a custom rom on my last phone but since I had to replace it when Cricket nuked their CDMA network I'm stuck with a stock Samsung Galaxy S4, with touchwiz- I hate touchwiz.
My brother kind of held my hand when my phone was first flashed over to CyanogenMod, a more accurate description was that he sabotaged it giving me little reason not to flash a custom image, so I'm still a bit new at this. I've gone threw the forums with the intent of reading up on weather I can and how I should go about flashing my phone. Problem is that I can't find anything that directly relates to the version of the firmware I have and I don't know if its compatible with any of the methods on the table.
I'm rightfully terrified of bricking my phone. I at least want some encouragement of reading about people with a success rate with an identical device before I go off and potentially brick my phone, if I do brick my phone I want it to be completely my fault because I plan on reading every guide and forum thread twice just to make sure I don't miss a nuance of the process.
Anyway,
i have a Galaxy S4, SGH-I337Z
Build #: KOT49H.i337zTUUBOA1
Android Ver- 4.4.2
security software ver: mdf v1.0 Rel 2
any combination of that information just points me to similar threads with no 100% (or even 50%) identical information. I've got three threads open in tabs rite now that say things about MD3 or MK2 firmware and I have no idea if I have those or not.
Anyway I'm hoping someone can find the info I'm to blind to find myself.
Thanks in advance!
Ryo
Hi there,
Best answers you will receive in the dedicated forum for this device, see bellow, but first you need to register an aacount on XDA for full access.
Here's few discussions about your device:

Hi there xda people,
Since all you cool people seem to be doing amazing things with your Galaxy phones, I bet this is an easy question for you.
Quick question: Since I have upgraded my SCH-I535 to Android 4.4.2 am I good to use heimdall to flash (if that is even the right word) ClockworkMod recovery on there. And then use ClockworkMod recovery to install CyanogenMod?
Ok here are the details:
I am trying to put CyanogenMod on my Samsung Galaxy SIII (Verizon) Model SCH-I535. Never done this before but I am not afraid of the command line and I am running Ubuntu on my desktop.
I have been diligently reading through the instructions on the CyanogenMod site because I cannot afford to brick my phone and I am a little confused. Please set me straight.
A few versions back CM unified all Galaxy S III variants into one (d2lte). Instructions for 2dlte say
"Warning: The d2vzw variant cannot follow these installation instructions. For this variant, reference the device-specific installation instructions"
But when I go to the instructions for d2vzw it says:
"you must be a 4.2.2 or older build or this will not work"
According to the specs in "About Phone" I am on 4.4.2
So do you all use heimdall to put a custom recovery on the SCH-I535? If so will ClockworkMod do the trick?
If so what variant of CyanogenMod do I install? d2vzw or d2lte?
And finally, which version number of CM should I use to make sure all the bells and whistles work? CM10, CM11?
There is a similar question to this one on the CyanogenMod forums and no one has answered it.
Thanks to anyone that can give me some reliable advice!

Your on a locked bootloader. You cannot run any custom roms. Reverting back to a previous version of Android is no longer an option. The only choice or even chance you have at this point is installing safestrap and running one of the few locked bootloader roms that are available

Hey thanks for the heads up! I would have totally bricked my phone. As I have been searching more I pieced together the fact that for the SCH-i535 if you took the android 4.3 update you got the locked boot loader. Ah well, I guess I will have to spring for a phone that isn't so locked down.

Keep your eye on Craigslist for an S3 that isn't locked down. Or stick with what you have and pop on Superlite. It's stock, but at least it's debloated. Good luck!
1. TWRP is up
2. Stock 5.1.1 with baseband G920R4TYU2BOF7/HW version G9020R4.02
3. Kernel name: 3.10.61-V-Kernel+
4. No Mods
5. Rooted
Last time, I did any rooting and flashing was the original Galaxy S Mesmerize for USCC... Been using that trusty phone up until 2 days ago. I finally broke down and upgraded after 5+ years! So I'm a bit rusty on this kind of stuff.
I know when I was flashing with the Mez, I had to make sure that I used carrier-specific ROMs since there were subtleties in hardware and so on. I was wondering which of the Custom ROMs in the pinned thread in the general section of this forum were compatible with a US Cellular Galaxy S6 with the specs I listed. Here is the link to the thread I'm speaking of. Also, any hints, clues, thing to look for etc etc in determining if a ROM is compatible would be awesome.

Once again, thank you guys for all that you do.
Edit: Somewhat off-topic... OTA update keeps wanting to come through. Will OTA update undo root?
It's 2016, and I need to know the truth about rooting the I925. I reset it to factory settings and here is what I have:
Model SCH-I925
Android Version = 4.1.2
Kernel Version 3.0.31-1481643
Build # JZ05454K.I925VRAMK1
Hardware Version I925.03
Is is possible to put Cyanogen on this?
I have tried several ways and the only successful way I have rooted it was King Root. But I was never able to get a recovery on there. I used Heimdall, according to the Cyanogen Website, with no success. I really thought CASUAL was the answer, but now I see that it doesn't work with the updated version. I need the pro on here to help me! I really want cyanogen on it! I am a newbie and using Windows on this..
Try the forum for your model .
I too fall into the same category and have not found a definite answer, has the MK1 stumped all who come against it? Or is root and unlocked b/l a trade secret? I have rooted many devices in my past from G1 to EVOs to newer devices and nothing has been more or less unknown around here like this device is....what gives??
What locked bootloader

It's hard to find a good how-to with this one it seems. There are many tutorials but usually for the other variants and not the Verizon one. The ones that seem to be for the right device use apps to install a recovery but the apps don't seem to support this model either.
I guess there is no luck for this tablet at all... I got it for cheap at this point (4 years after its release)! And there doesnt seem to be a way to even downgrade

So this means there is no fix for Galaxy note 10.1 SCH-I925. Would you happen to know if Casual is available for this model somewhere in this forum. Thanks for your response. mariomr
No sorry no idea .
the only thing that is achieved is to root, unfortunately there is no way to unlock the bootloader to install TWRP
I also found the 4 stock files to recover by odin, but I did not verify it
sorry for my english
