well, another there for me...
I wanted to add fonts for my phone... i want the effect like when i install a font.apk...
i have lots of .ttf fonts here, is there a way i can have that implemented without needing the .apk file itself?

i tried using that, but there will still be installation involved...
is there a way like what we do with boot animation?
open this directory and copy the .tff file in there? anything like that?

You can copy the TTF file, by way of copying ttf files to / system / fonts
just rename ttf file name as the original file on /system/font
example
you will copy the Times New Roman.ttf, you have to rename it to DroidSand.ttf
and then copied to / system / fonts
backup your phone before doing this
remember to change Permissions ttf file
attch1 Permissions ttf file
attch2 Permissions ttf original file / DroidSans.ttf on /system/font
attch3 example on my GalFit

good news those fonts are working fine on 5.0 lollipop as well..

So i can either do it the system/app way or flash via recovery...am i right?or i have to do both?

no just select only one option manual replace apk if you want or just flash via recovery .. used just one option

I´ve flashed the zip, but there are no new fonts installed. Using lolipop on N9005. (The zip flashed correctly). Your apk has 200kb and his has 16mb. You have made a mistake.

i don't know what you guys doing wrong... on s5 lollipop and even on my note 3 lollipop it's working with both flashable zip and manual...

I am using dr.ketan's L15 rom which is based on leaked lollipop rom for n900
Steps i do is:
1- flash your zip in TWRP then i got bootloop
2-replaced samsungsans.apk with stock one in order to get back from bootloop (permission changed accordingly) again bootloop
3- replaced samsungsans.apk with yours and changed permissions and the same result again...
Oooooooooo i think i found the problem just now, i found out that the rom is odexed so in system/app/sasmungsans folder there is another folder called arm in which there is samsungsans.odex.xz, so in this case i have to remove whole samsungsans folder in system/app cooy paste your apk and aet correct permissions... i will give it a try and will report.

well, i took your samsungsans apk, replaced by the stock one, then i renamed samsungsans folder to samsungsans.bak, im on an odexed rom, and it works.

Flashable Fonts

Hi, with most of my phones I have been able to flash font zips in TWRP to change the Roboto font family used in the UI. For some reason on the pixel they appear to flash but no change once I boot in. I think the system needs to be made writable before the flash if that makes any sense? I am on Pure Nexus rom.

I have been able to use some apps to change the font but it only changes the regular font and not the rest so I prefer the zips.
Any ideas on how to get this working?

You will need to change the updater scripts in the zips from package_extract_dir("system", "/system"); to package_extract_dir("system", "/system/system");

Put the fonts you want from that thread into the font folder of this zip and flash it. It should work.

I edited my script file. The zip works too. Just make sure you open the zip and drag the files in and then save.

When I open the zip, there's only the META-INF folder. Tried twice, I should just add the font folder?

I actually have the regular and bold versions of that font. I also have the ttc (not ttf) versions that have secondary "UI" sub fonts in them but I think they require specialized software to utilize them. There's also no italic/condensed versions so if adding to the zip for android the regular and bold is as good as it will get. In addition to all these I found a monospace ttf variant of the font I have. These fonts are massive due to the glyphs so I am not sure if the system will choke so make a nandroid before flashing! Most ttf files in are small around 150KB - the Yahei fonts are 14MB each or so!
The ttf versions are in zip attached. What I did was replaced all Roboto fonts with 'bold' to Yahei bold and the rest are the Yahei regular version.

So I moved the Trebuchet MS TTF files from the original folder to the installer. No errors, YAY!
Not all of the fonts changed. How can I replace all fonts in phone with Trebuchet MS?

If you moved all of those over, that is about the best you can do.

One additional one you can change is the clock. Copy off the one you want the clock to be and change it to AndroidClock then copy it back.
Also maybe NotoSerif.Bold, Bolditalic, Italic, and regular.

Required tools.

Steps,
1. Go to internal storage.
2. Enable/Show hidden files.

4. Now paste the myfont. Itz file there.
5. Go to ithemes then to local then to local fonts.
6. The font will be there to be applied.

To convert ttf to itz:
1. first download your itz file and any ttf file
2. Then rename something.itz file to something.itz.zip
3. extract the zip file.
4. open extracted folder and then open fonts.
5. copy the ttf file name and go to the folder where the first ttf file is present.
6. now rename that ttf file to same that is in fonts folder.
7. now copy this ttf file and go to extracted folder > fonts and replace the ttf file with new ttf file.
8. go back ones and select all the four files (fonts, preview,description,key) and make it rar file.
9 At last rename the latest created zip file format from .zip to .itz.
Am i right.

The I'd is just to identify the font in the itheme app. Just put any 3 digit number but don't repeat the same for the next font that's all.

Cant we put more than one font in F folder?
If i paste more than one then the other one gets deleted automatically.
