Hey, not exactly sure about posting in the right sub forum but i have a little issue
i am currently using a CDMA Hero for Sprint and everything has been going well after fixing the battery issue with a different messaging app, but now a new little annoying issue has arised.
lately when i have opened my menu bar for all my apps i have been getting multiple icons for the same apps
Examples such as Bonsai Blast and Teeter have 2 icons right next to each other that are the same. They both work but its kinda annoying
also some of the applications names are incorrect. instead of ChompSMS its titles is now com.p1.chompsms along with Google Voice being voicemail.xxx... etc
i have tried searching the forums quite a bit and haven't quite found an answer for this issue and am not sure if it applies to the GSM version (thinking it might be a bug for Sense UI)
anyone have the same issue?
i have tried reinstalling the applications and rebooting and it still keeps happening. (not really wanting to hard reset...)
Any help would be very much appreciated!
Thanks!
you are not alone, yeah for i have two print voicemail apps one with a long com..... something same with google sky and google voice app its odd but hey hopefully we will get eclair soon
I don't think it is the Sense UI. I think it is Android. They show the long namsspace name for the application...and some apps show other weird names as well. It happens when you reboot the phone, at least for me. I think it has to do with the way the apps register themselves when the phone boots. Or it may be sloppy programming in the manifest files. Not sure.
Having the same issues. Google Sky will actually show up as the first application, and titled something with about an End User Agreement. When launched it pops up the EUA and only option is a force close.
Not sure what is causing it either.

I had that happen also. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it fixed itself.

I bet if you reboot your phone the issue will return though...try it!!!
If that IS the case, see my post in this CDMA forum about app versions reverting. what has happened is that your app, in this case google sky, has reverted to an initial version, without telling you.

Just tested this and you are correct! Google Sky maps and Google Voice are the ones that do this for me.

I've confirmed that this app version reverting issue happens with at least 16 apps, not just the two Google apps you mention. I have a support question open with Google, so hopefully they can figure it out soon. It makes people think something else is wrong entirely.

I really think this now too,
so far i reinstalled Flixster Movies and Handcent SMS and when my phone reboots i get some different weird icon for both that are not the original ones.
also with the reboot, one of my original problems happens with the names of ChompSMS and Google Voice with their com.xxx.etc names
it has to be something changed on a reboot.
Google Dev group is on it. No fix yet though unfortunately:

Mercado, would you mind also informing them that a reboot also is causing apps to revert to their older versions? I think the problems are related. Thanks!

Oops! Sorry for making it sound like I am in on the android developer work. It is way over my head. Just thought I'd share a link I'd stumbled across. If it's kosher, perhaps you might want to share the url to your version reverting bug with that group. Not sure how that works.
In any case, it does seem like this is all related (missing icons, duplicate icons, renamed shortcuts, version issues, etc.). Unfortunately, it so far HTC has not acknowledged their role in the matter. Hopefully as the bug reports add up, they'll do something about it. Or, maybe they'll simply release Android 2.0 with Sense built in.

Ah, no worries. I have no shame, I'll put it in there whether it's kosher or not
After all, without visibility, a problem will never get solved.
Hello to all,
first of all forgive me if i am in the wrong forum. Second I am not an authority with ROMs and developing. I can flash a new ROM and follow guidance easily but that's it. Up to that.
I will tell you my scary experience with a specific rom which i installed a couple of days ago on my S3. First off all this post is not suppose to be rude to anyone or anything. I am telling you my story and I would appreciate your input as you are the experts.
3 days ago I installed the MIUI (http://miuiandroid.com/community) ROM on my S3.
As soon as I turned the phone on to run it for the first time I went to the typical set ups but then I noticed something.
On he top right corner of the status bar the a green phone icon appeared meaning that the phone was automatically set on "Call-diverting" .I dint pay any attention for about 30 mins as I was setting up the phone.
When I decided to see what the icon does to my sock and horror I realised that my phone was pre setted to call diverting automatically to a specific mobile number in the UK.
I quickly disabled the call diverting and dint think anything more. All of that happened around 12:30 in the afternoon (pay real attention to the times here).
about 10 minutes later I was at the office. around 2 hours after that I got a text message from my Bank to call them about a suspicious money transfer.
I called the bank and the told me that a few minutes earlier someone attempted to transfer 2000 pounds from my account. Of course my on-line banking was frozen and I was lucky not to loose the money.
Now, during these two hours my phone never rang just the text message from my bank. The bank security employee told me that it looked suspicious to them because whoever was trying to transfer the money asked for the 4 digit number via the automated bank security system to be diverted to another mobile number. The bank advised me to call my mobile carrier as I did.
The mobile carrier , when i talked to him, confirmed that someone called them and accessed my account by giving them all the right info, and requested that every time my phone was out of coverage all calls to be directed to another mobile!
have you guess what was the other mobile?? It was exactly the same mobile number as the pre-set on the ROM which I had installed 3 hours earlier!
And my bank confirmed that the same mobile was used in order to get the 4 digit pin.
I was shocked to say the least!!
When after a few minutes I managed to talk to my girlfriend , she told me that she was calling me earlier for about an hour. These phone calls never made it to my phone. As the phone was pre-setted to call diverting it was ringing to the diverted phone and not mine.
It is obvious that as I do mobile on-line banking and I access my accounts from my mobile (as many do), somehow they managed to get all the information about me and I am suspecting dodgy applications on my phone. I hope I am wrong but this experience has really shocked me.
I love android phones I love what you developers do but I am after you opinion in this one.
I am not here to offend any developers but to have a genuine answer and a sensible discussion about this issue. I am not a kid I am professional and this experience has really made me think twice about smart phones.

i think you're right, it wasn't the rom but some malware-/spyware-app.
assuming your phone was rooted, it would be easy for an app to do all kind of bad stuff once it got root-privileges, eg hiding on your sdcard and spying your data and after that establishing the call-divert to catch the 4digit-pin and the rest would be history.
only thing you could do is think what questionable apps with root privileges you installed in the last days before this happened, try to get a copy of it and have a closer look on it, maybe installing it without a simcard inserted or with a simcard without charge on it, to see what happens...
a big piece of luck would be some kind of log from about 1230h to see what established the call-divert, but if i would do such app i would ensure to delete all logs with traces afterwards, but who knows?
though, all of that are just the ideas that came to my mind as i read your post...
good luck for the investigation, would be interesting to know if you could get any information about what happened, so keep us updated, ok?

It would be difficult for me to know which custom ROM is safe and which one is not! I am not an expert you see. And the same goes with apps. I don't think anyone can state with certainty that any are safe.
It is just shocking to know how easy it is for your details to "escape" !
I will keep you informed about how this goes.
jowett69 If you can tell me how to get that log you are talking about, that would be great.
In the meantime can anyone advise on a descent mobile data protection application? something which will prevent any sensitive data from leaking from my phone? Payware or freeware I don't mind.
some ideas

A start might be to check the Superuser app and click on Log and see what apps received su permissions.
Also, from a cmd prompt you can enumerate all the running processes by running:
Code:
adb shell "busybox ps -A > /mnt/sdcard/process.log"
adb pull /mnt/sdcard/process.log
View process.log for anything suspicious, or post it up and I'll have a look.

I don't think I could do that my friend. As soon as I suspected that something with that ROM was wrong I performed a full wipe and installed omega 9.1 rom.
My question is this. By performing a full wipe should really erase any malware from the previous installation right? Can anyone advise on a descent antivirus/firewall application which will help me (and others like me) monitor and "block" unusual application behavior?
oh and one more question for my information...sensitive personal data can only be leaked when the device is rooted ? if it is not rooted am I safe?

did you wipe your internal and external sdcards too? how did you wipe? cause it depends where the malware was hiding, if it is erased now or not.
a simple, yet powerful firewall is droidwall. you can find it in the market. put it in whitelist-mode and allow only the stuff you know. but droidwall controlls "only" internet-connections (wifi and 3g or such). for full controll over every permission of every app and connection of your phone you sohuld use pdroid, but i don't know if that's really necessary, though i understand your fear. but if someone really wants to harm you and has some knowledge, there are always ways, i think...

not really, think of those apps you can use to root your device. think a bit further and one could make an app that roots your device and afterwards does the stuff it wants. but seriously, though it is possible, who would do that to you? that's what you should think about...
greetz,
sUsH
ps: cause you did a wipe, there's no possibilty of going through some logs, sry. (though this too depends on the way you wiped and what exactly you wiped...)

I am using paranoid android 4.6 beta 1 on the defualt kernel that comes with it.... I am not using xposed module or any other modifications... I am on default theme...
Whenever I open the gallery only some images load up (the recent ones) for the thumbnail preview and even when opened for the remaining many I get grey thumbnails and when openedgrey boxes..
I know this has something to do with media scanning being enabled at startup... But I didn't do anything to screw it up... I had this issue previously... But since no one helped I simply got back to stock ROM.. Pa 4.6 and a couple of releases before it worked well... It got back when I clean flashed the ROM yday!
Why not ask in the rom thread, where the guys that use the rom are?
Also, you may want to consider a more detailed title for your threads in the future... Many won't even open a thread with a vague or barely existent title. ?

Well, not sure what to say. Try clean flashing it again. About ago you can do.
Or ask in their thread, maybe someone else has had it happen. ?
Really your only options.
try this app - old thumbnails and grey boxes were displaying on mine, i had to scan everytime i deleted images, i think it was since i switched back to art, i started from scratch - no longer needed the app, i wasnt using PA

I can't tell if the gray thumbnails are actual photos sometimes. I normally delete them. You can use a File Manager and delete .thumbnails is whatever folder, as well attempt a reboot.

So we have a well-developed topic by model Oukitel WP6:

but we don't have a topic by model Oukitel WP7 at all, although this phone has similar problems in the firmware - unloading applications from memory by firmware, non-delivery of notifications, etc. I would like to know if it is possible to install an alternative firmware on this model, and how to do it.
Thanks.

It's not the problem with the phone, it's the users . This phone has some hardcore security settings turned on by default. If You configure it properly it will work like any other. For example let's say You want Messenger app always ready to receive new messages. First enable notifications in phone settings then go to the Phone manager app(big shield icon) and to its setting, add messenger to the white list so it wont be killed on lockscreen, also enable autorun for it so it can work all the time.
I'm totally fine with the way it works, it's easier for me to grant the notifications to few important apps than to disable it on all the garbage like shopping apps or games.
Hi. I am interested in this phone. It works fine? Any problem?

What i did
This is a very interesting phone model.
Currently done and fixed:
- Received root on both official firmware, on v16 and v29 (Magisk, pathing boot.img)
- fixed destruction of applications from memory, thanks to instructions from the topic about Oukitel WP6
That, so far, I could not win:
- Forced disabling of notifications from applications when updating from Google Play and another, I do not know how to deal with this.
The latter is very annoying, since you have to follow each update and re-enable notifications.
Perhaps, under the root of the rights, just edit some file to fix this?

Yes, I did everything, and even more, I was able to overcome the disconnection of wi-fi and bluetooth with a long inactivity.
You're right about the user.
But can you tell me.
How to prevent notifications from turning off when apps are updated in Google Play?

do you mean some apps force close and you won't get notifications when your phone goes off? if that's the case then just TURN OFF the "intelligent power saving" in the settings or from SYSTEM MANAGER APP. if it still kill your background apps then you might need to uninstall the duraspeed app on your phone if it's installed.

Thanks for your reply.
I went through the indicated stages and I got rid of the problem described by you.
I did not delete the DuraSpeed, but turned it off through the ADB and the MacroDroid.
But I mean a completely different problem.
Let's say I install the Viber or Slack application, after installing from Google Play, notifications are turned off by default. OK. I enable them in my notification settings. After a while, these applications are updated, and notifications are disabled in the settings again.
This is the problem I mean.
Hello every body,
There is a built in app named DURASPEED. Open the app third party file explorer and then you can leave the app stay on backround Like message, whatsapp, email and so on that they dont got killed.
Then phone is just awesome
Okey, i see you are allready found that app. Next time need to read more

Its not workin
No adb, no usb connect. Can not transfer file via computer to Phone.
Can not mount data & system. If you want them mounted you need to format all but then you can't get any file there.
Maybe if i but sdcard in and try that way. But no time to test today.
Can you used it normal, like it supposed?
I try to flash gsi, but that also doesn't work. Without twrp of course.

I'm wondering, since I started, I achieved some success, in the new version the zip installation works from a connected external flash drive, and I download several dozen de-encrypting modifications, maybe over the weekend it will turn out to sort out and bring the idea to the end, cleaned up the extra ways and made the ADB work in this mode, maybe over the weekend it remains to decipher and then it will be ready for the test.

I had to reset my phone and when I reset the notification icon went back to it's regular thing lol how can I get it back? Does anybody know what I'm talking about or do I just sound crazy lol please help. 🥹

i want the notification icon on the right lol
Currently, you just sound crazy haha. But the notification icon should always appear to match the new app icon. If yours isn't after a drive reset, just give it time and it should correct itself automatically (maybe after a day or two).

Ehh, just give it some time. Whenever I do a full wipe before flashing a new update to my phone, certain features just aren't available for an unknown amount of days. For example, some of the Google Phone features don't show up for a week or two. And once they do show up, they only seem to roll in one feature at a time lol.
This delayed feature rollout after a wipe and fresh OS installation seems to be the current Google Mystery lol

No problem. If it never changes over in another week, feel free to reply to one of my comments and I can help ya out. You MIGHT need to do another wipe and OS reinstallation (which I can also help you with, if necessary) if the notification icon just refuses to change after more time passes.
We'll see what happens =D

very much appreciated
Doing a complete wipe is a lot of time and work to get things setup again...all for a certain notification icon??? Whatever floats-your-boat!

And no worries. A complete wipe, reinstallation, setup and root access usually doesn't take longer than 10 minutes lol. But, I suppose it may seem like a lot of work to people less nerdy than me, haha.
What is the version of the app?

10 minutes? In what universe? You cannot be serious! A few years ago it would take several hours for a factory reset/new setup! I'm assuming you mean "factory reset" when you say complete wipe???
Today I can do everything in maybe...MAYBE 2 or 3 hours but 10 minutes??? No way! You gotta be joking.

You have an old version of the application, update it or install it manually.

APK version shouldn't matter. I have the exact same build as you and don't have the issue that you are facing.
For what I use my phone for (basic phone functions, internet, YouTube) I don't think it's worth the risk of pushing something through unofficially - as a user uploaded APK could
always be slightly modified in some way.
*Edit* - And you also have the latest build of the app, haha. We're on the beta build - which may have been confusing my man Stano.
*Edit 2.0* - @jaseman I mean flashing the entire OS from the most up-to-date factory image via fastboot - which does indeed wipe the user partition of the drive unless you choose to modify the default flash-all document or choose to do it all manually without wiping that drive partition. But regardless of which method you choose, it still only takes me around 10 minutes to do all of that, restore my data and to grant myself root access again.

Máš pravdu, pomýlil som si dátum vydania. Myslela som, že aplikácia je od 6. mesiaca.
Mod translation: You're right, I got the release date wrong. I thought the application was from the 6th month.
