[CFW][KK4.4] GomdoLight KitKat Custom Firmware Environment (System Enhancement Pack) - LG G Pro 2

Hi all,
Today, I proudly present GomdoLight KitKat for KOREAN LG G / G2 / G3 / G3A / G3cat6 / Gflex / GK / Gpro / Gpro2 / LTE3 / Vu2 / Vu3 / Gpad7LTE, one of the most widely used (with 20,000+ users approximately) stock-based custom firmware in South Korea.
GomdoLight is more than 3 year old already (first version released on 19th December 2012), and is very mature.
Technically speaking GomdoLight is NOT a complete ROM, but rather a large-scale patch, which modifies official stock firmware to remove all the unnecessary components preloaded by operator/manufacturer, and reorganizes key system parts to 'basic' Android OS with manufacturer's flavor. For some devices GomdoLight's own specialized tool 'GomdoLight Sideloader' can make it possible to install GomdoLight directly over the stock firmware, even without rooting or flashing custom recovery!
GomdoLight is compatible with the following devices (BOLD indicates GomdoLight Sideloader support - no root required)
LG Optimus G: LG-F180S, LG-F180K, LG-F180L ("G")
LG G2: LG-F320S, LG-F320K, LG-F320L ("G2")
LG G3: LG-F400S, LG-F400K, LG-F400L ("G3")
LG G3A: LG-F410S ("G3A")
LG G3 Cat.6: LG-F460S, LG-F460K, LG-F460L ("G3")
LG G Flex: LG-F340S, LG-F340K, LG-F340L ("Gflex")
LG GK: LG-F220K ("GK")
LG G Pro: LG-F240S, LG-F240K, LG-F240L ("Gpro")
LG G Pro 2: LG-F350S, LG-F350K, LG-F350L ("Gpro2")
LG Gx: LG-F310L, LG-F310LR ("Gx")
LG Optimus LTE3: LG-F260S ("LTE3")
LG Optimus Vu2: LG-F200S, LG-F200K, LG-F200L ("Vu2")
LG Vu 3: LG-F300S, LG-F300K, LG-F300L ("Vu3")
LG G Pad 7.0 LTE: LG-V410 ("Gpad7LTE")
A very thorough and extensive (probably, the most extensive on entire xda) manual is provided at the download page, which contains literally everything you need to know to install GomdoLight. FAILURE TO READ THIS DOCUMENT BEFORE INSTALLING WILL ALWAYS LEAD TO VARIOUS UNEXPECTED PROBLEMS. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. Needless to say, I WILL NOT ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS ALREADY ADDRESSED IN THIS DOCUMENT.
Due to xda forum's limits (in functionality) I am posting a link to the separate (external) DOWNLOAD PAGE. There is no way I can link to each section in the document in xda posts, since xda does not support HTML tag. However some portions of the document are also introduced here.

This looks really good just today I was thinking I really don't like lollipop and much prefer kk, this really looks too good to be true I cannot wait to try this, I only wish my D838 running 10f firmware was supported please if anyone trys on the same version as me let me know I don't have a recovery installed at this moment in time I didn't believe we can make a full nandroid backup and full restore on this phone please correct me if I'm wrong.
But thanks for sharing this looks brilliant!

if you can run this zip (via gomdolight sideloader tool) you can make a backup image of system partition (gomdolight installer supports that by GUI), instead of nandroid.
the main menu will have 'system image backup/restore'. it will use dd command in the background to take a raw image of each system partition, but NOT the data partition.

Tried on f350 L very good system enhancement. Hope this will release on lollipop. Thank you for sharing.

you could use the stock LG BACKUP to back up apps and settings. that thing is almost as powerful as titanium.

right now lollipop is not supported because:
1) current lollipop firmware has a LOT of bugs including random reboots. LGE completely failed in quality control.
2) LGE is very developer-unfriendly. lollipop's selinux enforced there is practically no way for novice users to root after updating. and they have no plan to officially unlock bootloader.
when LGE changes their hostile attitude towards developers, and improve their firmware quality, i will surely reconsider lollipop support.
p.s. and, also note that the overall user experience is WAY BETTER with kitkat (as for now)

Yes I experince random reboot in lollipop. I see it's really hard to bring this to lollipop. But I happy using this now. Many thanks!

A great effort
Hi there.
First of all, I must appreciate your effort in developing Gomdolight. The effort you have put in to make us understand the installation process through flow charts, paragraphs, external links is indeed commendable. Bravo Zulu.
I have literally read each and every word of your user/installation manual and linked pages as well, strictly following your instructions. I have successfully installed Gomdolight in my F350L (G Pro 2). It is working very fine and I have no issues with it. As you also described, it very much responds to the user requirements and inputs and requests. Which is indeed a plus point.
Previously I was using Vietnamese ROMs on my LG Gx (F310L) and on this phone as well but it was not that impressive. One simply looses the strength and interface of stock ROM which in my opinion is of extreme importance. The reason I installed those ROMs was simple ... I do not live in Korea and using a Korean version in some other country. So I wanted to get rid of Korean pre-installed apps, wanted to have SIM tools in my app drawer, wanted to get rid of 'Call to Korea/Call to Local' dialogue each time I make call, wanted to have lengthy sms app, wanted to dial my network operator USSD codes as desired e.g *1111# (previously it was making it a voice call). All these 'desires' were very much fulfilled by those custom ROMs but at the same time I used to loose stock ROM interface and certain of its capabilities.
By using Gomdolight, I have the interface and power of stock ROM, I have got rid of pre-installed Korean apps which is very good infact and it makes me very happy and satisfied every time I look at my device.
Although I could not get rid of 'Call to Korea/Call to Local' dialogue and could not check my bill status by dialing *1111#. No problem , I can live with it.
Not sure of other problems but there is a way to get rid of 'Call to Korea/Call to Local' dialogue. A lot of man hours would be required for this job but it will eventually work. Just save all your numbers with + sign and country code. e.g. If you are in Pakistan then save all numbers in phone book like +92 XXX 1234567.
The problem of USSD code is inevitable. Not having SIM tools in app drawer is not a big issue - thats not so important.
Regards

I have already appreciated the quality work you have done by developing this excellent system enhancement patch.
Now I would request to to consider making an upgrade for non-Korea residents.
As for now, the device doesn't recognize that it is in some other country thats why it takes every call made from it as a roaming call and therefore asks "Call to Korea / Call to Local". I will try to upload some screen shots if I have the permission as my status is very preliminary.
Secondly, the device doesn't accept USSD codes of my network and doesn't call its helpline as well (e.g. 111, *1111# etc). This is probably because these are not used in Korea. If you can suggest a fix for this as well then it will be highly appreciated.
Regards.

i heard that the 'call to korea' issue is notorious for korean phones, could you check this out?
For Call to Korean issue, just check "Dialer's Settings" and set the country code to 0092.

as for the USSD issue, right now i have no clue, but i will keep digging on it.

[ROM][2012.09.19] Lenovo A750 custom ROM (GB&ICS)

Please note this is a rewrite and cleanup of first post. Original firstpost is in post#3.
Here I publish the ROM's I make for the MT6575 based Lenovo Dual SIM phone
The current and advised ROM is A750_ROW_S114_cybermaus_ICS_V3.1 described in post#2 below
This is the original A750 thread, but as not everyone can post in developer threads, I also have a publicly available new Q&A thread.
I advise you post your question here (if a more advanced and development specific A750 question) or in the Q&A question.
I am not going to be policing, so you can post where you like, but I invite everyone to use this new thread for any Q&A, and this thread for ROM releases and deep development talk only. Please understand I do not know everything, so using the Q&A thread is better then PM'ing me, as that way maybe others know the answer too.
Also, I am moving file hosting to Dev-Host. So if you encounter a dead link to a ROM file, do look here in my Dev-Host folder.
ICS IceCream Sandwich
Starting 2012/09/12 I have a second flavor of ICS ROM for the A750
ICS V1 ~ V1.3 are based on the original Lenovo A750 ROM's Most people tried them, but went on to APKHOT because of multilang. There was a V2, but never released
ICS V3 and onward is based on the Lenovo P700 ROM, see below
ICS V1 series
It is a update.zip type update. If you already got S306, and rooted/gapps'ed it yourself, you could stick to that, this is the same, with some minor extra cleanup.
'Normal' cleanup actions:
- Prevented update from overwriting Recovery
- Added root (Chainfire) & gapps (CM9 120429) & Maps & Streetview
- Cleaned Chinese & SmsReg
- Replace talking Unicom bootup with silent butterfly
- Set to US/en & added MoreLocale2
- Added MobileUncle 2.0.9
Instructions for A750_S306_120530_cybermaus_ICS_V1:
Assuming you have the custom recovery. If not, flash the recovery from my 4-shared using the flash tool.
- Put S306 V1 zip file on SD card (do not unzip)
- Also put S306 V1.3 zip file on the SD card (do not unzip)
- Boot into Recovery
- First apply V1, then apply V1.3
- Potentially, clear userdata and cache, especially if you come from any S14x GB
- Reboot, and wait for it to complete.
BTW: It should probably be noted that while I packaged V1.2 and V1.3, it was again bgcngm who we have to thank for knowing how to solve the location problems.
If you already lost recovery due to the S306 OTA update, reinstall it using the flash method from first post.
Please always respond if you tested it, even if you did not like it.
Oh, and if you do like it, press the thanks button of course.
ICS V3 series
For a long time I guessed the P700 is similar to the A750, but why bother. Until I recently heard it has a multilingual ROW (Rest Of World 海外版) version!
So I took the leap, and transplanted the A750 kernel into the P700 ROM (needed because the screen driver is different), and installed it on my A750.
It works pretty well. I did not need to fix location services or gapps (though I did put the newest in there). Also did I not need to clean up any Chinese apps. And the Calender is Chinese free, and the Dialer free of Chinese city names. So I barely had to do anything. Also GAPPS TTS was in there, though I still cannot find the settings menu.
But alas, the only 'multilang' in the ROW was Vietnamese. I guess "Rest Of World" is pretty limited.
Also, for those of you that liked it, the Security App (Anti-Virus, and limit permissions per App, so sort of a firewall) is also missing. I may put it back in later, but I want to run vanilla for a while to test stability.
But it is still nice and clean, and all programs a month newer. And Chinese out of the browser/email-setup/calender/dialer. Oh, and for all of you that went to APKHOT because of the newer SIM taskbar icons: It also has the newer icons. For an ongoing list of findings in post #585
So for those of you that want to try: A750_ROW_S113_cybermaus_ICS_V3 based on P700_ROW_S113_120801.
Assuming you have the custom recovery. If not, flash the recovery from my 4-shared using the flash tool.
A750_ROW_S114_cybermaus_ICS_V3.1
Based on factory ROM P700_ROW_S114_120903, and located in my Dev_host. Similar to V3, but newer, and a few extra tweaks.
Summery of changes:
- Same as on V3, and additionally:
- Whatever Lenovo fixed in their S114 (there is a unconfirmed suggestion that it may be signal strength related)
- Different (better?) call-log and Caller-ID behavior, see post #3 below
- Prepared busybox (you need to run script /system/xbin/installbusybox as root if you want it)
- Added a tweak so USB-Debug notification is no longer shown
- Added a tweak so Wifi works on all 14 international channels (rather than only the 11 US ones, may be undone if you set a different locale)
- Kept the original S306 radio firmware (baseband). They had the same timestamp as the P700 one anyway.
Instructions:
This is a update.zip type ROM. If you are on any ICS ROM, you do not need to flash V3 first, you can directly flash V3.1"
- Put ROW_S114 zip on SD card
- Boot into recovery
- Apply zip file
- Reboot, and wait for it to complete.
- If you came from a domestic Chinese ROM, clean data for calender, notes, desktop and if possible contacts, using these utilities. Or if you do not mind, wipe all data from recovery.
=================
BTW: Due to new forum rules, resulting in a large number of people that cannot post into developer threads and that subsequently PM me, I open op a new Q&A thread.
I am not going to be policing, so you can post where you like, but I invite everyone to use this new thread for any Q&A, and this thread for ROM releases and deep development talk only.
Consequently, if you PM'ed me, look for your reply in this new thread
Thanks

PS: do drop me a reply if you use or tried it! Or press the 'thanks' button.
HELP, I lost my IMEI ! / Caller ID
Please note the content below was originally in post#1. I cleanup Post#1 a little, to make it clearer to new users.
=================
Hi All
My second Lenovo A750 ROM release: A750_S148_120428_cybermaus_V1
Edit: For ICS rom check the 2nd post.
Fixed toward V0
- Different GAPPS, resulting in
- More stable Play Store with less unlisted apps
- WiFi based Location services (from for example Places) working (GPS did work in V0)
- NANP (US style) numbering formating removed from phone
- Replaced Unicom talking bootup animation with silent Lenove butterfly
- Added 'new phone Setup' program
Still to improve (if you know how, on a MT6573/MT6575, let me know!)
- Caller ID lookup in Contacts should ignore IDD prefixes
- SMS app trips over hyphens and brackets in stored numbers
- Arabic/Hebrew RTL fix not applied yet.
- Remove 'new phone Setup' program again?
This is a simple and clean ROM, not too much done, essentially just the factory S148 ROM (A750_S148_120428) rooted, cleansed from Chinese and with Google Play Store and other GAPPS.
So it is mostly clean. It does not even have the Skype/YouTube/Flash apps, as I believe such apps change too often to be in the system portion. I upload the ones I got from Etowalk separately, in folder Etotalk_apk, you can install yourself.
Specific changes:
- Rooted the phone
- Set to boot in US-english
- Added MoreLocale for extra languages
- Removed Chinese apps, incl Chinese keyboard
- Removed SmsReg.apk
- Left Lenovo Security (anti-malware) intact
- Added Google framework
- Added modded Play Store 3.x.16-mod from XDA
- Added MobileUncle toolbox V2.0.9
- Added CWMR Touch / 593zn.com recovery image
Most images are unmodified from stock S148, even boot.img is unmodified. Only system.img was really changed, you could flash only that.
You will also need the flash tool and USB driver. For example tool SP_Flash_tool_v3.1208.01 and driver USB_VCOM_Driver. The flashing is the
typical Mediatek MT6573/MT6575 based flashing sequence as shown by bgcngm, the undisputed champion of Mediatek ROMS.
Which reminds me: Thanks to bgcngm for his help, and to jazzor for his help
Instructions:
By default, the ROM will not overwrite USERDATA. If you want a clean slate, first extract empty.userdata.rar. Also do this if you get "weird" behaviour after flashing, like Play Store not starting, your old setting may be incompatible with the new ROM
By default, the ROM will not overwrite FAT (the internal SD card). If you like an empty internal SD card, extract empty.fat.rar before flashing.
By default, the ROM will clean out CACHE. If for some reason you feel CACHE should not be cleared, deselect the CACHE from flashing.
IMPORTANT: If you want to play it safe, it may be wise to backup your phone's IMEI file before you flash or reset to factory defaults. See here for help on backup or restoring IMEI
IMPORTANT: If you are trying this ROM on another model phone, which I STRONGLY advise AGAINST, then do NOT flash the first two (preloader and dsp_bl) as you will may not be able to flash it back afterward and thus brick your phone. Someone tried it against an ZP100 and bricked his phone.
Download A750_S148_120428_cybermaus_V1
I will also upload the driver, flash utility and official ROM's there.
Enjoy

Caller ID bug
Caller ID on the on the A750, on the P700 ROW, and I suspect in general on the Lenovo phones.
The lenovo ROW (=Rest Of World) based ROM are much more international then the other Lenovo ROMs. I cannot be sure about the other china brands, but Lenovo in ROMs intended for the local China market, 'update' the phone to nicely recognise chinese cities. I am sure China locals will be pleased with this service. I do not know if/how this applies on phones which are already more international like the multilingual Zopo's and Thl's out there.
In doing so, Lenovo seems to break the normal caller ID function. Not only do you get to see Chinese city names for non-Chinese numbers, but also in some cases it does not resolve an incoming call to your phone book. This seem to be especially true if the incoming call is in local format (no +CC) and the phone book is in international format (with +CC)
The ROW based ROMs work much nicer. No Chinese city names for non Chinese numbers. Also, it finds correct country names. So far, I was called by unknown numbers from California, UK, London, Russia, Romania, Saudi, Yemen and Jordan, and it all correctly resolved them. For California and London even to greater detail then the country. It only shows this for unknown numbers, for known ones it shows the contact name.
Indeed Caller ID seems to work correctly for local vs international format. So if the incoming is formatted without +CC, but leading 0, and the phone book is +CC, it finds it.
And it seems to nicely format all phones according to the desired national formatting. So +1 XXX-XXX-XXXX for US, but +966 X XXX XXXX SA fixed and +966 XX XXX XXXX for SA mobile. And +31 XX XXXXXXX for NL fixed and +31 XXX XXXXXX for NL mobile.Very nice
HOWEVER: The caller-ID lookup now seems 'whitespace-sensitive'. I had a contact number stored as +966 XXX XXXXXX, and he did not find it. But when I changed it to +966 XX XXX XXXX it did find it. Similar for number that had "(XXX)" brackets in it, as was common in NL in the past.
This may or may not be a problem, because if you touch your phone book entry in the edit mode, it will automatically change +966 XXX XXXXXX to +966 XX XXX XXXX. Symilar if you sync through Google. But as I sync with outlook using Android-Sync, many are stored like +CC (XXX) XXXXXXX
So, Caller ID is 'different'. But better? For most people probably yes. But may depend on your situation.
EDIT: I found the whitespace was actually due to me not clearing data. Everything seemed find, but the caller ID was a resulting problem. You need to clear contacts, so it reindexes the phone numbers, and then Caller ID is perfect. Even ignores () brackets. You can clear contacts many ways, but I made a patch for it.
Links to other A750 ROMS and other useful information:
EDIT: I have not kept this list updated. Search this thread for other ROMS, especially Smileyvvv's APKHOT seems popular
Original A750 ROMs: (S14x=GB; S30x=ICS)
A750_S148_120428 - Chinese/English - No root - No play store
A750-S305-120514 - Chinese/English - No root - No play store
A750_S306_120530 Original full S306 (no OTA, flash package)
Please note that all *official* ROMs come with password bbs.lenovomobile.com. If the password is missing, someone did something to the ROM. Also, there are 'root' images availible that only flash boot.img. These work by overwriting system.img *on every restart*. Creative, and I used it myself for a while, but currently I feel the method described below is a better method.
Other modified ROMs (GB):
S750 S143 Etotalk Multilang
A750_S148_120428_RUS by Anton_vrn V1.3 (true Russian translation!)
BM's Hebrew fixed
BaderMQ's multilang+Arabic fix
(please note none of these are really multilang, just multi-locale, which means system apps will remain English, but third party apps can be set to other languages, similar to my ROM's, I simply do not make the claim. Anton is the only one who actually translated the ROM, but to only one new language)
Other modified ROMs (ICS)
My ROM in sepo of course
lenovo750-4.0.3_Anton_vrn_v3.01(true multilang?? Hints that it contains: ar-de-es-fa-fr-in-it-nl-pt-ru-th-tr-vi-zh, but based on S305)
Etotalk S306 multilang_by_Dean : It exists, but I do not know an internet location to download it from.
How to root a ROM yourself:
- Flash the CWMR Recovery partition (the recovery only, not the root&recovery one)
- Reboot into recovery (poweroff - Press/hold Power for 2 secs, then also Up/Down)
- Apply this root update
- Use RootExplorer to remove any Vending* or Phonesky* from /system/app
- Apply the correct GB or ICS GAPPS package, from bottom page here, or its mirror here.
- If a ICS rom, even though not from me, you may still want to apply my ICS V1.3 update, especially if you have location or market compatibility issues.
Caller ID
Hy I have a Lenovo A750 and all my contacts in the address book are saved in international format ex.: +44 78......, and when somebody calls me the number that shows up on the display is 0 78....., as local format.
Unfortunately the phone doesn't recognise it as being saved in my address book and it show's me "078 .... is calling" instead of "Ben is calling".
How could I fix this?
Please help me, or at least give me directions.
Thank you
Its one of the more important (of not most important) issues, and it has focus of myself and more experienced people. It's listed above as "Caller-ID to Contact mapping should ignore IDD prefixes." But alas, afaik, at this moment, no solution exists.
Keep an eye on this thread, and/or this one. Rest assured that as soon as we know how, it will be fixed.
Edit: Caller ID bug is less prominent in ICS ROM's
And in any case, using this, you can work around it.
COOL
You have done great job man thank you. I was using etotaks v 2.0 rom but it kind of sucked so i decided to try yours and its all good. I like the net traffic, battery saving and LeSecurity and they come only with the lenovos rom. I will look foreward for future releases. Great Job.
Reagards.
RTL
Hi,
Are you planning to update your rom?
i was searching for a Lenovo A750 rom that support Arabic - Hebrw RTL.
There is a methods out there but its only for deodex Roms, and your rom odex.
anyway to convert odex to deodex?
Thanks
There is already a Arabic & Hebrew RTL version for A750 out there. Not my me, but by someone more experienced, though A750 is not his focus.
I am playing with my ROM, and while it is not on the top of my list, once I get round to updating it I was thinking of copying his RTL fix to my ROM also. In the mean time, try the other one, and tell me how it works in relation to the issues I still have on the to-do list.
Thanks
I downloaded the rom from that topic , it failed to install . it give me an error msg when i try to flash it thru CWM.
I manage to convert the lenovo A750 Roms to odex using crcstudio_1.2.0.0
now i'll try to apply the fix manually.
Well, you can always try to use the recovery I am using. It seems to work well for Bruno's ROM's.
I have never even attempted to put CWM on these Mediatek based phones. Nor have I heard of anyone else (other than you). Are you able to flash anything with it? I was assuming there was a reason people were not using CWM on Mediatek.
I advise you to put Recovery ROM from here, flash it using this method. And then use that to apply the zip based ROM's.
I am working to update my ROM with Hebrew also (actually, working on other stuff, but will try to also put that in), but be aware, it will also be a 'flash-utility' ROM.
Edit: ROM V1 is coming tomorrow, but no RTL, sorry. I was able to fix the location service and Play Store is now not blocking so many apps.
I already did try CWMR ... But when i ever try to flash BM Rom it shows an error.
And by the way .. I already used CWM to flash other roms on my A750 and its working.
so what i did:
I extract BM Rom and merge it with other chinese rom S148 and build new rom.
It works.. i can read/write Arabic . and for browser/gmail i install the Brightidea's app from the market. it fix the Arabic problem.
New V1 upload in first post.
Spanish from etotalk?
There are any possibility to get the spanish traduction from the etotalk rom?
Thank you
I'm using new ROM since last night.
I made a complete flash (userdata, sd...).
Now there are less Chinese applications, is good.
Good work, Thank you.
Quick question
Hi cybermaus
sorry for the noobie question but I didn't own a smartphone since windows mobile. I expect a A750 and it might come unrooted. Do I have to root it before installing the rom or is this done automatically in the flushing process? Thank you.

Check if the Spanish selection is part of the 'MoreLocale2' app. If not already there, add it as a custom locale.
Edit: If you meant: can I take Etotalk ROM and transplant its Spanish into my ROM, then that is already done! Neither Etotalk nor myself actually translate anything, we both just added the free public app MoreLocale2, which has most translations in it. Using MoreLocale2, the phone becomes 'reasonably' translated, though there may remain some English parts.

This flash is using bootloader method, not recovery, and it will not need root. Upon flash, it will apply root automatically. Use the flash sequence as linked in the first post.
It is strange the size is only 157 mb. I will give it a try
Yes, V0 accidentally had two copies of the rom image inside the rar. It did not hurt, but it bloated the package a bit. The 157GB (164 981 710 bytes) is correct
Good to see you are paying attention though
Remove the Unicom bootup animation
I landed on this page when I was looking for help to remove the Unicom talking bootup animation/sound and remove all Chinese apps from my phone (A750) that I recently picked up.
But I have never done this and I am no developer but can you please help me with a list of procedure that I can follow to use this A750_S148_120428_cybermaus_V1?
If someone has skype or share their phone number I can call to seek help.

[ROOT][CWM][ROM's] Lenovo IdeaPhone (LePhone) K860(i)

There are different custom ROM's & root methods for the K860 & K860i. Most of the root methods & ROM's are compatible with both the K860 and K860i. Read the full thread to be sure.
I'll update this post regularly, if there are any changes needed please say so in the thread or PM me (still WIP for adding the latest stuff).
Below you can find everything!
- Root methods & stock ROM's + MOD's/fixes:
There is an APK root method, linked below, or you can use the original not so easy root method:
I did some research on how to root it.
I found some steps on this Chinese website.
What I understand from it is you have to do the following steps to root:
- Set the phone to USB debugging in it's settings
- Make sure drivers are installed and the phone is recognized well by the phone PC software
- Close all the PC phone software applications
- Make sure no other android or smart/USB-device is connected except for the phone itself
- Download this file: root files, download link is also below in the attachment.
- Unzip it and launch the .exe (executable file) with the Chinese characters (should be first .exe in directory)
- The shell/CMD should start the root process
- The phone will automatically restart, don't touch it or any button, don't interrupt the shell program!
- Now after the reboot of the phone you should press any key on your keyboard when asked
- The shell program should continue, the phone will restart again!
- Again press any key to continue and wait for the shell program to reboot your phone for the third time (this can take some time, be patient!)
- When rebooted the "Operation was successful" message should appear in the shell program
- Now your K860 is rooted! Look for the root app in your phone to confirm. If rooting didn't work, try this process again
- Also update the Superuser or superSU app & binaries

I just got this phone/phablet as a gift. Specs are quite a beast: 1.4GHz quad core, 1280x720, 8GB ROM, 8MP camera etc.
Would you know if the Android UI is in Chinese? Right now I have the phone for sale on eBay because as far as I can tell, it's not going to work on AT&T or T-Mobile 3G (or more) in the US.

Yeah, it's only compatible with GSM Tri-band or maybe Quad-band. But WCDMA is only operating at the 2100MHz band (3G). So I guess mobile surfing will probably work but calling (2G) won't work in the US.
Default UI is Chinese, but it should have English in the settings also and maybe even Vietnamese.
I have a K860
I've bought a Lenovo K860, it works fine in Spain. It comes with english and chinese languages. Easily root as you say before. Over 12400 antutu benchmark in my device, but I see until 14500 in others. The camera works perfect and makes awesome photographies. Games and apps runs very fast, GTAIII, Bard`s Tale, PES12, FIFA12, Asphalt 7....
Cons?
Magnetometer compatibility, by the time I don`t found compass app working.
Only chinese development by the moment. In fact there is a recovery.img available and two or three MIUI roms, aal in chinese only:crying:
If you want any other info, contact me, and sorry my bad english.

I think my previous smartphone (Galaxy Mini) didn't even have a magnetometer, so if that doesn't work properly I think it won't annoy me.

Yes, confirmed, it works perfect for me.
And I`m agree with you, magnetometer isn`t big problem, but it work fine in test, fails the app compatibility, I think it´s a rom fail and it will be solved with updates.

if the ui is also working in english i ld get it. am just worried lenovo wont release a JB update and if i root it (i have never rooted anything besides a bag of marshmallows) i loose any functionality. is there a JB rom? the miui is pretty ok.

I think yes, you must download gmail.apk, play store, maps.apk, etc, second you must copy and paste with root explorer in/system, and at last open the permissions of any lenovo apk in /system and put the same permissions in google apks.
I hope you understand my bad english.
hi is it easy to replace stock OS? i m in china and want to use english OS and am not sure if the installed OS has google market and so on.
Any advice? would love to run a JB version or MIUI on it
The stock OS has an option to use an English UI. Market and some other Google Apps might not yet be installed.
To do this you can read the following topics:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1632945

so anyone running the phone on its stock ui or know if the stock ui comes with google play? if not can i just take a g play apk from here and install it on mt k860?
Hello, can I ask to you about the Lenovo.
How about the battery life?
Have stock ui call record?
Have it IP telephony client like in miui?
Thank you a lot

I don't really think there is a way without root for the Lenovo.
Someone reported that it works on a Galaxy 5 (i5503) without doing root:
How To Enable Android Market on i5503 or Galaxy 5 and Galaxy S
Filed under: Android by Ahmed Ali — 38 Comments
December 22, 2010
recently i bought Samsung i5503 (Galaxy 5) and i took more than two weeks to be able to use android on my handset
so i decided to share what i got with u .let’s start
U must move your data from internal memory to external memory
there r two method
The First :
1. ensure your handset “Galaxy 5″ is set to use 24-hour format
(applications-> Settings-> date and time -> Use 24-hour format
2. launch the Phone-pad
3. enter the following
*#272* the follow it with the time on the phone (4 digits) then follow it with #
example, the time on my phone now is 15:33 hence I shall enter *#272*1533#
4. the phone shall display a new window
5. select “XSG” and hit “install”
the Phone shall reload and your “Market Apps” icon which be there
this method didn’t work with me but it works with some friends of mine
The Second Method
1. ensure your handset “Galaxy 5″ is set to use 24-hour format
(applications-> Settings-> date and time -> Use 24-hour format
2. launch the Phone-pad
3. enter *#06# and store the number which will appear
4. in the phone-pad write *#272*xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx” xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is the number u got from step 3
5. the phone shall display a new window
6. select “XSG” and hit “install”
the Phone shall reload and your “Market Apps” icon which be there
enjoy

[Q] LG-AS730 -- Instructions to root

This is our first Android device: LG-AS730 – Optimus Select (for carrier Revol)
-
SCR Version: AS73010b_Revol
Software version: AS73011A
Andriod version: 4.0.4
Kernel version: 3.0.8
OUR GOAL:
Root the phone for security reasons in addition to getting rid of all the bloat and/or unwanted apps. We don’t like syncing, or the sharing and storing of our data (cloud). We do however respect open source. That said, we have never rooted, see above, “our first android device”. What is in place, if anything to accomplish our goal –without loosing functionality and/or bricking our device?
-
Our XDA search term “LG-AS730”, and “AS-730” yields no results at this point in time.
Root AS730 / Development
This method will work for the AS730.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Be aware our phone has a locked bootloader + CRC Check, which means if you remove certain system apps, you will be greeted with a "Security Error" message on system start, resulting in a shiny new brick.
I already bricked mine, and luckily I still has a couple days left on my 15 day warranty with Revol to get a replacement ( I said it was an update gone wrong )
(After which, I found the .cab file on the LG server to hopefully restore (Haven't verified yet))
I'm currently looking into ways to remove the CRC check.
I'll be making a post soon with an attached .cab / other information on our device.
It just sucks our device has almost no documentation or development.
If anyone would like to help with development or anything, PM me.

Glad to see that my excuse works in other places xD. I do have a rooted System.img, just no way to flash it to the phone. (At least, I believe I still have the rooted system.img file). With our model, LG Mobile Phone Support Tool doesn't decompress a system.img.ext4 while flashing which is what caused my brick. I tried splicing back together a BIN file and literally ****ed the partitions.

Do u have the original rom

[ROM] iPioneer Slim 10c v0.1 for LGV521 - Rooted, busybox, init.d, debloated, etc...

ROM Ipioneer Slim 10c v0.1
A light, clean & faster rom!!!
Disclaimer:
/***
* Your warranty is now void (and I'm sure it was void before this process).
* I am not responsible for hard or soft bricked devices, boot loops, dead or corrupt sd cards, strange behavior or you getting a heart attack 'cuz your youtube app is not working properly.
* YOU and only YOU are choosing to make these modifications, do not blame on me.... I will just ignore you.
***/
iPioneer Slim 10c v0.1 is a light, clean and fast custom rom designed for the Lg G Pad X 8.0 (T-Mobile variant only) and it's aim is to become a replacement for the default system of this device.
iPioneer Slim 10c v0.1 it is light because it only takes 519.8Mb of disk space which is a big difference when you compare the 1.2Gb of a stock rom, it is clean because it only contains the essential apps to make it work properly and it is faster because the whole system have been 100% optimized.
iPioneer it have been designed with the User Freedom in mind, it only provides you with the basic OS so you can do what you need to do on top of that.
Features:
Based on stock (10c)
Rooted
Busyboxed
Init.d Support
Extremely debloated (very serious)
Deodexed
Zipaligned
Nova as default launcher
Installation instructions:
Download the rom to your desire location (link to download to the end of this post).
Boot into Twrp recovery and do a standard wipe (factory reset).
Install the downloaded rom .zip.
Reboot the device.
Be patient, is going to take more time than a regular stock rom to boot into the system, at first is going to be stuck at T-Mobile logo but after few seconds is going to enter into App Optimization mode and after that you will be able to setup your system.
Enjoy it.
First things to do after you install this rom:
Add your google account (if you didn't complete that step at the first setup).
Download your favorite app manager (Rom Toolbox, Titanium, etc.).
Freeze the application called App Updates in order to stop the system update beacon for OTA. I removed 3 core apps in order to stop OTAs but it seems to be very integrated with the system, there is no way I can remove it from the rom without breaking the system. This is the most practical way to my knowledge right now.
Optionals things to do after you install this rom:
You can uninstall Nova Launcher if you want as is not part of the system apps, but before you need to install your favorite launcher. If you don't install another launcher and remove Nova you will have a broken system and most likely you'll have to re-flash the rom.
On purpose bugs and missing options:
On purpose bugs are bugs that comes when you remove a functionality from the system but it can not be removed from a third party component, example: LG VPN app it has been removed but the options remains in the Settings of the device and when you tap that option you will provoke a crash event, the way to resolve this is to decode the third party component (very difficult) or reinstall the missing part (in this case the LG VPN app).
iPioneer Slim 0.1 it comes without some apps that can not be removed from the system setting options, this is like that because I believe that these apps are not necessary for all people, if someone need them they can be downloaded/replaced from the Play Store or I will provide a flashable file with these apps so you can install them.
On Purpose bugs (located at settings):

How fast does it run compared to the stock rom?

How fast it can go is a subjective matter:
It will depend on hardware lifetime span (how you use it and how other people use this tablet).
It will depend how much apps and content you put in it (the more things you download the more slow android is gonna be, this is kind a Swap area).
I did not do a benchmark, when I declared that is faster than a stock rom is because that speed response enhacement it comes based on the Deodex and Zipalign process. It can be or maybe not noticeable to your eyes but based on deodex and zipalign process is for sure that is faster than an odex and not-zipaligned rom.
The best answer is that you need to try it on your own and see the difference.

Poll added at the beginning (not visible in tapatalk or xda app).
Please only select the apps that you really need or you really think that should comes with the next revision of iPioneer Slim rom.
This will help me to build a better version with features that users needs.
C'mon guys... only 3 users have use the poll...
I need more data background in order to release a new version of the Slim line version (may be the last one).
All V521 users please contribute with this.
Right now I'm testing a new build that it seems to have success stoping ota download and notification & I have removed even more bloat background packages.
As of today I start the syncing process of CyanogenMod for our device, so all I ask is that V521 users vote in the poll so I can build and release what I think it would be the last Slim version (iPioneer Slim 0.2) based on users needs.
Once I start the developtment with CM I will not pay attentions to the Stock & Slim version until I finish with what is gonna become iPioneer CM 13.
Thank you for your attention guys.
BTW: sorry for my english, I try so hard to write all this in a good way. Arriba Mexico Papa!!!

The reason is that the xda app can't see the vote going on.
Personally, I will be excited to see a cm/aosp custom build, which will sure draw much more attention.

Another reason is not many users are interested enough in a slimmed stock rom. The benefits of a slimmed stock rom may include less system storage usage. But the free uped system storage is not accessible for users to use as data storage anyway. Speedwise, I wouldn't expect noticeable improvement from a slimmed stock rom. As a result, the benefits of a slimmed stock rom is not enough to draw users' attention or interest.
I am a flashholic but I actually not interested in slimmed stock at all because I already have root.
I personally advise you to not spend too much time on modified stock rom.
I appreciate your work and look forward to your future possible cm rom, which I will definitely try it out and will draw many g pad x users here. And don't forget there is a bounty for custom roms like cm.

You are right about working in a stock version. The reason why I'm doing this is because we all know that CM most of the time has bugs, bluetooh problems, camera issues, data conectivity troubles, etc...
Sooooo, if the version of CM I'm going to compile it results with many bugs there is gonna be the option to go back to stock slimed or stock bloated.
I can build a CM verion but Im not the kind of guy who inverts his time in CODE MODIFICATION, so hopefully the build it comes with no bugs at all or at least no major bugs.
The other alternative is that I can sync, compile and build and one more guys can do the bug fixes.

That would be great! I think if you took a poll most people would prefer a CM build to a slimmed down stock build.

Yeah, I know that. Wish me luck.
Right now I'm stuck trying to get the Blobs for this device and compiling the kernel so I can build the CM recovery, once I have the recovery done I can start compiling CM and start testing.
I'm trying to by pass the kernel (as is not need it right now to build the recovery) but for some reason the system is demanding an standard and working kernel... weird...
But honestly speaking is gonna take lot of time. So be patient guys.

Ik, is just a prebuilt because our device doesnt have a device tree or structure already, so making this at first is gonna help me to buil the cm zip.
Is not need it if a device tree already exist but not in this case, just see it like a pretesting of code for this device.
When I try to compile this recovery things are gonna break so you get info of what is missing, what you need, log, etc... So you fix everything you can in this step and then you build the cm.zip in a better way (less issues).

These are your device tree for twrp 4 b3 right?
Let me see if I can work with that, I was almost done building the cm.recovery and fixing some boot.img issues but if I can take your files that would save time.
Did you forked that device tree or u just build it from scratch?
If you forked them, from what device?
I was thinking on pulling the v500 just to figure out some sort of missing info I havent been able to catch from ramdisk.

i built it from scratch, id be careful looking too much at the v500, it's a snapdragon 600 SOC which is very old and is a quad core. the 615 in the g pad x is octacore and much newer. even the ramdisk is going to have big differences in how its handled.

X2 Pro - Chinese version living in the EU (regrouped Questions and Answers)

Hello Guys,
So i'm new to Oppo, but an old wolf within these corridors.
I have some questions for you crazy people who bought the Chinese DUAL sim version of the Oppo Find X2 Pro.
I went through all the threads, read them and there are some inconsistent answers. So i will post my questions (feel free to ask me to add more) and will update the orginal post with the answers you will give me - so this helps new comers.
1. Does Google Playstore work?
-Confirmed working
2. Does Google Pay work?
-Confirmed working
3. Does Google assistant work?
-Apparently yes, but the "Hey Google" voice detection apparently is grayed out and doesn't work (Need more confirmation on this also)
- Works with issues or extra application
4. Do Gsuite applications work?
-Normally they should as Oppo is not blacklisted like Huawei and runs GMS. But could someone confirm please.
5. Do third party launchers work (without ADBing "pm" the orignal launcher) ?
- NEED CONFIRMATION - but apparently not
- Confirmed not working
6. Does 5G / 4G work?
Apparently a forum member living in Italy says it works fine, but found that some 5G bands are not present in the Chinese version. Please reply yes or no and on which carrier you are and which country.
- NEED MORE CONFIRMATIONS
7. Does WifiCalling and / or VoLTE work? And if they do /don't please write down your carrier/country
-NEED CONFIRMATION
8. Can you force install the Global ROM onto the Chinese Phone (important point here)?
-Still waiting to see if that is possible. Waiting to get confirmation from people who tried / succeeded / failed please
- Waiting on results
9. Can you unlock bootloader and install TWRP.
-Only answers i could find were : yes and no, bootloader not yet unlockable, TWRP working... very confusing.
9. Apparently you can't use an app like Textra or other to replace the Stock SMS app (who uses SMS anyhow, right? but still an interesting point).
-Anyone?
10. Looking for tutorials on how to use MEMStool, QPST, etc... anyone know of any so i can link them here? Coming from Samsung, Oneplus, etc could be handy
- Anyone?
11- Autostart of more than 5 untrusted applications? asked by @yarik88
Has anyone won this limitation? This is very important, as it affects notifications from third-party applications. And without autorun, calls are not accepted in some messengers that are not indicated by Oppo as trusted.
You can give permission to the application to autostart related applications, therefore, perhaps there is a program (something like an autostart manager) giving it the right to autostart, it will already launch the application that you specify in it. But so far I have not found one and these are my assumptions
12. Anything else?
Thanks for your feedback and help.
I can come back to you on the other questions for but for now I bought mine from Wonda. Google Play was pre installed and works fine (I had a P40 Pro before so I know about Play Store not working fully!)
Google Pay works without issue. The app is stable and have used all my cards to pay using NFC.
Google assistant works once when you set it up, then it takes itself out of settings. I use the Google Voice Search app instead (I only use mine to set timers etc). All my other Google apps work fine, maps gmail etc.
4G works fine, I have the option for 5G in the menu but don't have a 5G sim to test. No option in the menu for VoLTE/WIFI calling it seems.
Flashing Global ROM needs more testers
8. Can you force install the Global ROM onto the Chinese Phone (important point here)?
All attempts to flash the Global (CPH) software on a Chinese (PDEM) phone were unsuccessful so far, however, it seems that all these people (claiming a failure while flashing) are members of the Beta program.
My friend with an Oneplus phone reports the same behaviour (the phone just won't let you flash an older firmware), furthermore, one Beta user here reported that now he can not even flash the original PDEM software while getting the same error message (The installed version is lower than current).
tl;dr
So there is a solid chance that all of this has nothing to do with Global/Chinese ROM, we just need users who AREN'T in the Beta program to test the ROM.
Global ROM (UK version), 12th May 2020, 3 597 MB, CPH2025_11_A.18: https://oppo-uk.custhelp.com/app/software_update_detail/p_name/Find+X2+Pro/session/
The same ROM decrypted from .ozip to .zip for those who want to play with it: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjPo24k0toyl0VJOap14txM-W3Nl?e=ePbq9I
While I've got you here, can you please see if you can install Nova launcher or lawn chair... Just to see if third party launchers work.
Thanks!!!

I think the same with all Chinese rom phones, there isn't an option to set another launcher. Yes you can download them and they appear but once you close an app it reverts back to stock. Just tried and no it doesn't set as home launcher (Lawnchair 2 anyway).
SO only way is to adb and uninstall the orginal launcher...thanks for confirming.

Blazingly fast phone, with almost unlimited RAM... and they limit autostart to 5.
Bizarre (theres that buzzword again!)
I don't get this thing of autostart... Are you telling me that this phone with 12gb of ram...limits 5 applications? Meaning if you have mail, WhatsApp, telegram, calendar , or other apps you need notifications for you are limited to 5 apps max??!!?
Please elaborate...I'm having a hard time believing this. Seems worst than Huawei's app killer...

ItsIt's very similar to this.
This is Oppo's worst idea. I don't understand how they think in China, forbidding the user to use his phone. Just the thought that there are so many ad notifications from apps to take this step.
You have the "Manage autorun" setting in it on top of the list of trusted applications from installed (I have Instagramm, Skype, Telegramm, Whatsapp, Vk, Facebook) I think there are more, but here OPPO decides which applications to consider trusted.
Apps from this list do not affect the 5 apps limit.
And below is a list of all the other apps installed on your phone. And you can select Only 5 applications that have been autorun.
Notifications from applications that don't have autorun permission come in very badly, usually only when you start the application itself. But sometimes they break through, too, but not always.
For example, a SIGNAL messenger without autorun does not receive call notifications and becomes useless, you can get within an hour notifications that you missed a call.

Thank you for your hard work! You deserve some sort of donation at this point.
To save your time, avoid the latest (4th) method (QPST) - files the application requires for flashing are not located in the Oppo's Global ROM.

Great job for the community. fingers, toes , everything crossed to see if it works.
BUT i still beleive that there is a way to hack the dual sim for single sim international phones, which in a way would be much better.
