silent mode for lolipop fixed - Galaxy Note 3 Themes and Apps

hi guys , since i update lolipop and no silent mod that was issue , i take no credit for this app , i just found it and it work great on my n900 , silent mod with alarm sound on work perfect , here the app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.merkcoolapp.silentmodelollipopfree&hl=en

Good, just when I was getting adjusted with the newly introduced Interruptions mode.
I just need one more thing now, the upcoming alarm time enabling on lock screen like KitKat. Wish someone makes a mod of that.

Is not necesary changw the icon to priority interruptions and you have alarm sound always and you can configure if you want calls and messages notifications and filter which user can interrupt you.
Silent mode is obsolete now.

Silent mode in Lollipop?

Hey all,
So I've been running Lollipop for a few days now and till now I haven't find the silent mode. So even without vibration for calls.
Right now I have two choices:
1. Completly silent. But this will also silence my alarm which I don't want.
2. Let it vibrate. Which I don't want for phone calls.
I want my phone to be silenced but the alarm excluded.
Normally users could hit the volume down key one more time and put their smartphone into silent mode where it won’t even vibrate.
I've been searching for days for this simple option. Can someone help me out?
Thanks in advance.

Priority Mode.
Under "Interruptions" turn off everything and the only thing that will make a sound when the phone is in Priority Mode is the Alarm.

And the low battery sound and the charging sound and a few other system sounds. Priority mode is a poor substitution for a real silent mode.
I can't believe Google took silent mode out.
What the F were they thinking?

Set volume to 1 (Just before vibrate mode). Sit and reboot phone. You will now be in silent mode.
It's messed up for sure. I had it set to "priority" with everything unchecked so just my alarm would come through but some dumb Facebook notification woke me up in the middle of the night. Wasn't amused.
The only way to silent the phone except for alarms is to put it in airplane mode? Ridiculous.
Looking forward to some custom ROMs to fix up this mess.
This is my main reason for not updating to 5.0 so far... All I want is to be able to set the phone to totally silent, but still have the LED light for notifications without having to download something like LightFlow to do it. I like having nothing make noise/vibrate, but still have the LED blink when something comes in.

I developed an app: Call Filter Alarm. Its sleep mode can silence all notifications (also whatsapp and viber), even on Lollipop.
Hope it helps

Hi guys!
I too have the same problem and no app helped me... so I searched far and wide and I finally found a simple trick With my knowledge I have created an app:
Silent Mode Lollipop (search for it.merkcoolapp.silentmodelollipopfree in the Google Play Store to find it)
It only does one thing: switch from normal mode to silent mode, on any version of Android (of course, including Lollipop).
Remember, it's the 1.0 version
I hope it helps!

I made a small workaround that is very handy!
I used Nova Activities widget to create a shortcut to the Sounds and Notificaitions --> Interruptions activity.
Whenever I want to sleep, I simply tap the widget on my homescreen, turn off Calls as priority notifications and go to sleep with peace of mind
As soon as I wake up, I simply enable Calls as priority interruptions again by using the Nova widget
I know this is a workaround but this is the best way I found so far to solve this irritating problem on Android Lollipop.
I would also love to hear about any workarounds that anyone else on XDA has hacked together! Probably whip out a dialog UI using Tasker?
Hit thanks if my post helped you
There is an app called True Silent Mode which supposedly adds back silence like we are all used to. Alternatively you can try a different ROM. CM12 has the usual "silent but with alarms on" mode.

[Q] Pebble, Silent mode and Priority Interruptions on 'L' - Suggestions?

What I'm looking for is any ideas or suggestions on how to make Lollipop behave more like KitKat did for notifications with a Pebble.
What I used on Kitkat:
- Pebble watch for all notifications (using the Pebble software and Pebble Notifier to send all/most notifications to the watch)
- Phone on Silent mode
- Alarms ring on phone
This is a good combination for me as the phone stays quiet and the Pebble lets just me know what is going on.
On Lollipop
I want the same kind of setup now, but the lack of Silent mode makes this harder to achieve. I do know the trick to set the volume one above Vibe then reboot, and that does work... but it's a kludge.
- the Priority Interruptions actually silence all pebble notifications, so I have to keep it to All to get it, which then causes the phone to vibe too (unless I do the reboot trick).
So, does anyone have a combination of settings that makes this work like the KitKat days?
Here are a few thoughts on dealing with this. I use Llama or Tasker to get silent mode. Turning on silent mode in either of these turns on priority mode and then I use them to set the notification volume to 0. I have some Tasker stuff to toggle this from the pebble, and it's quick to switch profiles from the Llama notification on the phone for where location profiles don't already do what I need.
As to priority mode preventing pebble notifications, that can be avoided too. The gmail and calendar and call notifications work fine with the pebble app. I use light flow (but notification center should work too) for third party notifications. You have to add the application that forwards notifications to the list of apps that can notify in priority mode. So in addition to hangouts and other apps that I want to receive notifications from, I set light flow notifications to priority mode too (and in light flow I disabled their persistent notification because I don't need it).
I never leave priority mode on the phone, I just change the notification volume through profiles in the above apps. It works fine, and I get all notifications on the pebble.
Hope this helps.
Edit: And this does the right thing for alarms, since alarms are always priority.
I'm doing the same thing basically - I had Tasker rules to silence the phone (alarm volume = 0) in certain conditions, and when I upgraded to Lollipop they still worked. Not free, but it's workable. There are still some issues though that I haven't figured out, I'm not sure Tasker can un-slient a phone in that state (volume buttons will override) and of course Tasker doesn't know about the various priority modes at all yet.

Silence Modes

Since my phone did the update to the new android version, I have one big problem: The silence modes.
Before the update, I had to pull down the status bar and when I klicked on a speaker, it switched between:
loud, vibrate and alarm
vibrate and alarm
only alarm
now, when I press the hardware button for the volume, it switches between
loud, virbate, notifications, alarm
something confusing
and nothing, not even alarm
I want the old settings back, is it possible to configurate the new android to get my old settings back?

In short - no, you cannot get the old silent mode back with 5.0.2. A short Google search would have brought up that problem, it's called 'silentgate'. Biggest problem is, that the 'none' (interruptions) mode also mutes the message LED.
Lollipop 5.1 corrects some of the biggest problems, for example the LED notification in 'none' mode. But it's still not the simple old silent mode from KitKat.
Please search Google for Lollipop, silent mode and interruptions for more information.

How do you mute Media volume with the rest of the audio sliders?

I have the T-mobile S7.
Ever since I got my S7 when I have my phone on silent or vibrate, when an email comes in with my Gmail the notification sound plays. I have work email on my phone, but those new emails don't play through when on silent. Some other notifications also play through. I think from Google Hangouts and TXT messages. And I think Visual Voicemail notifications.
I can't seem to find anyone talking about this in my research. I have had several OTA updates from T-mobile and the issue is still there. I can't seem to figure out why some things have notifications that sound when the phone is in silent and vibrate mode. I have never had a phone do this before.
UPDATE: 2016.04.10
I still have the issue. I attached a screenshot of what is going on. The Media volume slider is not muting when I switch to Vibrate or Silent modes. The phone has had several OTA updates since I bought it and this still doesn't get fixed. I have the Moto G 3rd gen with Marshmallow as well and it doesn't have this issue. never had a phone with this issue. I am getting really tired of the work around, which is to manually mute and unmute the Media volume which takes several steps each.
I have two S7's and both have this issue.
Also, please don't suggestion the Do Not Disturb feature. Unless there is a way to have a simple toggle on and off of that feature with a pre-set of Total Silence, that solution does not help. So insane that silent mode is NOT silent!
Looks like I can toggle the DND shortcut and have moved it near the Mute/Sound/Vibrate button. Set DND to Total Silence. But still researching to see if the settings I use in the toggle affect the scheduled DND settings. As I only want Total Silence with the toggle, but at night I want my custom DND settings via the Scheduled DND.
Use macrodroid, e-robot or any other tasker-like app.
For MacroDroid, this particular macro does NOT require root:
1) Trigger volume button down, continue
2) Action Set music volume to media slider value 0
3) Constraint ringer volume is silent or vibrating
The above works ONLY when you use the volume down button. When the ringer volume reaches 0, it will also zero the media volume. It won't work if you use the Sound mode to change the ringer to silent or vibrate. You can program another macro to do the un-mute as well.
There are also other ways, such as through macro that is triggered by screen off, and change the media volume to 0 using the constraint of ringer volume being 0. This will work with Sound mode or DND, just not not immediately but when the screen turns off.
Sorry, I am looking for a stock method to this issue. Otherwise I think the general forum area would be a better place for me to ask about 3rd party apps. Right now I am still testing the DND options now that I see that I can toggle DND from the pulldown without having to choose DND options each time.
Darn it! DND is useless for this issue. If I leave the Sound toggle alone and on Sound, the DND does not affect things like unlock sound, key sounds, etc. etc. Silences calls and alarms, but the "total silence" option is NOT total silence. So I am still looking for a stock way to toggle mute and unmute of the entire sound system.
I just purchased a Note S8 and I'm having the same problem. There needs to be a simple and instant mute button so that if you need to mute in a hurry you can. If I am not overlooking it, it's ridiculous that they don't have them on these phones. I am used to using a Motorola and they always have had an easy way to quickly turn the sound off of my phone. The only way with this one is to hold down on the volume button and with a case it makes it even more difficult. I guess I'll just sit on it. $1000. Right.
del
Yeah, it's crazy. I now have 7.0.1 on my S7 and still no quick mute toggle with stock Android. And all my previous Android phones had a mute function that muted everything. Holding the volume button down does not mute all sounds. You have to press up or down, then mute the first slider which mutes all but Media, and then mute the media slider. THEN it's full silent. But I don't understand why it doesn't mute ALL sliders with 1 toggle via stock like it did on other phones.
the issue is still there on Galaxy S9....so freakin annoying
@sdho , yeah, it's insane! Android Oreo 8.x and we still don't have the simple mute function we had with much older versions of Android! By default muting should mute the Media slider too! If people want to only mute other sliders, THAT is what should then require the 2nd shade expansion to pick individual sliders. But 1 touch mute and vol down all the way, should mute ALL sliders by default.
I don't understand the programming decision to make the default the way it is!
PS: I now have the S9 Plus since launch.
Solved!
Just downloaded "Media Mute". Solved everything right away.
Thanks Choobaka, I now have Android Oreo 8.x with the Galaxy S9 Plus and still no improvement to stock 1 -swipe and touch mute. But thanks to your suggestion, while this can't be solved stock. At least it can now be solved without root and without any odd permissions. Thanks a ton. Trying it out now. So far it looks like that will do the trick for me.

Android 5.1.1 rooted -> allow single app notification in DnD mode

Hi,
I have my phone always set to "Do not disturb" with exceptions active ( alarm and calls from everyone ).
This means my phone is always silent ( no vibrate and sound ) for everything except calls and alarms.
Here is the problem:
I have one app "apager pro" that gives me a sound alarm that I also want to receive. I could achieve this because this app has a build in functionality
to "always play alert sound and ignore sound settings of the phone".
With this setting this app always gives me a sound alarm. But I want it be be silent between 10pm and 8am.
Does anyone know an Xposed tweak or app that allows me to also override the "do not disturb mode" for a specific app but only on a specific time.
Again what I want to achieve: Calls and Alarm clock always vibrate and sound. Everything else no vibrate and sound. And then this single app vibrate and sound but only at specific times.
Does anyone know an xposed module or app that can do this ?
