Over the last few months I have noticed that my VPN connection to home has gone flaky (i.e. may be due to network issues, but is restricted to tethered phone):
I would open a mobile internet connection from my laptop over a tethered HTC Touch Pro (WinMo 6.1, original ROM), then VPN to my home network - VPN created from the laptop, not the phone. Internet browsing works fine, VPN connection to home network comes up fine, able to ping machines both ways, but then unable to browse machines on home network - it seems an initial connection is made (e.g. VNC would ask for a password, or title bar of web page will load), but then grinds to a halt after a few bytes / KB. All this while internet browsing and ping in both directions are still fine!
Everything works fine if I bypass the phone (connect via USB modem or via another cellular network).
The issue seems unrelated to:
VPN type - can be either via PPTP to router or OpenVPN to linux box on network (!)
Cellular apn used - occurs with both a regular browsing and "VPN" apn.
OS on either side (Windows XP / 7 / Ubuntu)
Phone settings - problem persists in spite of reset to factory defaults.
Any ideas and advice on how to fix / bypass appreciated
Thx
I have recently installed a program that simplifies the use of your PC as a router so that you can access the internet via the WiFi adapter in you PC.
In my case I am using a Lenovo G560 Laptop with built in Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter and a ZTE USB modem for internet connection.
My Android device is an Acer Iconia A101 running ICS (4.0.3) and is rooted although I believe it is not necessary to have a rooted device for the software to work.
The software is Connectify-me and is available from website "connectify.me"
There is a free Lite version and a paid Pro version - I am currently using the Lite version and have just arranged to get the Pro version.
Setup with it is simple and now I can get on the internet with my A101 without having to get a SIM card or drive into town to fing a WiFi hotspot to update my applications.
I live in North Queensland, Australia.
Hope this info is useful.

Windows 7 (and prior versions, I'm fairly certain) have this functionality built into the network device properties, although it is ad-hoc mode and takes some android juju to get working on your tablet.
Problem description: The incorrect interface is being used as the source interface for communication.
Problem details:
I am using Google Nexus 5 Android version: 4.4.2
My phone uses 3G connection for the internet with an ip address of 10.18.xx.xx.
I am then connecting to the Junos Pulse - ver 5.0.1.41777P.
Once successfully authenticated, I get the ip in the subnet of 172.16.xx.xx.
However, the traffic instead of sourcing from 172.16.xx.xx gets sourced from 10.18.xx.xx which is resulting in one way communication.
This is creating problem with through the firewalls and application issues.
Anyone experiencing similar issues and work-around.

One of our android app is not working properly on the Mi-A3 device. We are trying to add an IoT product (Wi-Fi fan) by connecting with local IP when there is mobile data is enabled. At this point, the mobile data is disconnecting and connecting continuously. Due to this issue, we are unable to configure/add the IoT product on the Mi-A3 device. Let me know why this is happening in this Mi-A3 device with android OS version 10.
Note: This is working fine with other devices with the same Android OS.
