How to Root THL 4000 THL 5000 & other MTK Android Phones with Kingo Root. - Android General

Although this is a pretty safe way of rooting these phones.. advance at your own risk!! I am not reliable for your phone. If you are broke and have never rooted devices before you might want to wait till you have a bit of cash for a new one if yours bricks.
I am making this tutorial to help others out that have ran into this issue before. Trying to root a THL 4000, 4400, 5000, & it getting stuck at the fastboot mode. I'm sure that this will work with any MTK device that has to have 3 windows driver states. So lets get this started
Things you will need......
You will have to have developer options enable on your device. If you do not know how to do this then follow the link below.
http://www.xda-developers.com/enable-developer-options-in-android-4-2-jelly-bean/
Windows Auto USB drivers for MTK devices....
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2p5zAW61UE2NjVLeTJNSEY0X0k/view?usp=sharing
Root Software... Kingo Root
http://www.kingoapp.com/
Get the “MTK Droid tools” only not the drivers. I don't think they are automatic as that is the method we will be using.
http://chinagadgetsreviews.blogspot.com/2014/01/download-mtk-droid-root-tools-v252.html
Step 1
Keep your phone unplugged.
Tell windows not to auto install a driver for your phone. Go to your start button and do a search for...
“Change device” This bring up at the top... 'Change device installation settings' Click on that then you should be able to select “no, let me choose what to do” Then “Never install drivers from windows update.” Hit “Save changes”
Step 1.1
Before you reboot!!!
If you have plugged in your MTK device before trying this then you need to go to your device manager and delete the driver that is listed under “Android Device”. (on windows7 it was a HTC driver that auto installed that I had to delete.)
If not then move on to step 2.
To find device manager ..
Hit start then search “device manager” It should list it at the top. Click it then Android device should be the first one in the list.
Plug in the phone.
Right click on the HTC driver or whatever it installed for your phone and select from the list delete or uninstall this driver. Then it's going to want to reboot go ahead and say yes.
Unplug your phone restart your computer & move on to step 3
Step 2
Reboot Windows.
Step 3
Install the main driver.
Extract the USB driver .zip you download into it own folder.
Click into the folder then click on install and follow the install processes.
This will install all the drivers for MTK Devices X86 & 64bit(32bit/64bit)
With your phone booted up..
Then Plug your MTK device into your computer with your USB cable.
(If you see the installing driver message pop up from windows click it. Hit stop trying to install driver from windows update.)
The message it should say is “driver installed successful” in the same window it will list the driver it installed it should say “Android Composite ADB Interface”
Then it installed correctly.
If this failed then reboot and then plug in the phone again.
If step 3 worked then move on to rooting
Install Kingo Root and root!
With the phone booted and in the main system..
Open up Kingo root on your windows computer and plug in the phone.
Set the phone down on something so that it is not being moved during rooting.
You should see Kingo root searching the connection when it's done it should have the name of the device and some other information on it like it has a MTK CPU and stuff. Hit the button at the bottom that says root and it should start root the phone.
DO NOT DISCONECT OR HANDLE THE PHONE DURING THIS PROCESS<<<<<<<<<
You should see it downloading files and installing them on the phone.
The phone should reboot a few times you might see it go into fastboot mode.
This is where it will work or get stuck in fastboot.
If it worked the you are all set.
If it failed and got stuck in fastboot then continue on to step 4 of this tutorial.
Step 4
(If you just got stuck in fastboot mode above close kingo root and try holding down the power button on the phone. If power button did not work pull the battery if its a THL 4000. Hit the reset button on the back if its a 5000. Then boot backup into Android.)
You have to install a driver for all states of your android phone.
Recovery driver,
Fastboot Driver, << If it is getting stuck in fastboot when trying to root it.
Main system driver.
We have installed one for the main system now lets install the other two
Recovery driver.
Unplug your phone from your computer.
Power down your phone.
Hold the Power button and volume up at the same time till you feel your it vibrate or go to a screen asking you where you want to go. If it asks you use your volume and power buttons to navigate the menu and to select “Recovery Mode”
Now in recovery mode plug your phone back into windows. Because you installed the auto driver and you have windows not looking at windows update it should install the drive automatically.
It should be something like this..
Driver installed successful
“Mtk device driver” or “MediaTech device”
Then it should have the driver to talk to your phone in recovery mode.
If your phone has a option for fastboot in your recovery menu the select it.
If you don't then select “Reboot device” or “Boot device”. In the recovery menu.
Install Fastboot driver
If you had the option to go there from recovery then you should already see windows installing a driver for fastboot. It should say the same thing your recovery driver said when it was successful. If this worked skip the next few lines and move to the next step.
You only have to try to install this driver if when trying to root it with Kingo root it gets stuck in fastboot mode & Kingo fails to root or just sits there at waiting on device.
If you end up on this mode don't panic it happened to my THL 4000 & THL 5000.
Warning this is not the best of recommendations but it worked for me!!
Kingo root was hung on waiting for device and would not fail or stop trying like it was froozen. Now keep in mind I gave it about 30 mins to stop trying. The phone was still in fastboot mode so I X out of Kingo root to close it and unplugged my THL 4000 phone still in fastboot mode.
Now with phone in hand still in Fastboot mode reboot Windows. After the reboot pulg your phone into the computer with your USB cable still in Fastboot mode.
Windows will automatically install the same driver that it installed for recovery mode.
Then you are ready with all 3 driver Kingo root can access the phone at all levels to root the phone.
After the install on windows is complete if it is still in fastboot mode.. unplug the phone from the computer. Try holding down your power button (and if it shuts it off your good). If it does not work open up the back and take the battery out.(THL 4000) If the battery does not come out then take the back off and look for reset button.(THL 5000).
Now your device should restart back up to the main system. Stay at the main system for rooting in the next section.
Root the THL 4000 5000 MTK device.
With the phone booted and in the main system..
Open up Kingo root on your windows computer and plug in the phone.
Set the phone down on something so that it is not being moved during rooting.
You should see Kingo root searching the connection when it's done it should have the name of the device and someother information on it like it has a MTK CPU and stuff. Hit the button at the bottom of the page and it should start root the phone.
DO NOT DISCONECT THE PHONE ON THIS PROCESS<<<<<<<<<
You should see it downloading files and installing them on the phone.
The phone should reboot a few times you might see it go back to the fastboot except this time it has a windows driver and it should get past that part this time. When its done it will say finish at the bottom leave the phone plugged in and hit the button. It should come to the rooting screen again and say Un-root OR Root again. Then you know its rooted.
Congrats your THL MTK device should be rooted now!! It should have installed SuperSu for you. Now go download some cool root apps!
With the MTK Droid Tools you downloaded follow this really good youtube tutorial from ITXtutor on how to back up you MTK device!!

I was able to root my device by installing and running the KingoRoot apk, It does everything by itself, it just needs an internet connection. Easy and safe.

My THL 5000 with the latest firmware was a bit resistant to rooting.
I tried several tools without success, but the kingoroot apk worked like a charm!
After getting stuck at 30 and 50% for ~30s the progress got stuck at 90% (and I was getting a bit scared) but I didn't touch the phone and waited until after about 2 minutes it jumped to 100% and rooted succesfully.
I did the root because I needed to fix the USB OTG, which was not allowing the use of the tiqiaa USB IR blaster with Zazaremote.
After doing the root, I ran the USB Host Diagnostics (Chainfire) and it reported that there was a problem with the OTG USB and offered to attempt a repair.
I accepted it, the phone rebooted and the problem was fixed!
Now I'm the local IR device terrorist! muahahaha

How to root Lenovo S686

I have Lenovo Lephone S686 with following specifications. If anyone has any idea on how to root this phone, please reply.
CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8225 Dual core 1.2GHz
GPU: Qualcomm Adreno203
Memory : RAM : 512MB / ROM : 4GB eMMC
Found already?
Am sick and tired of the stock....
tried 1-click root, king root, and all other root method and failed...
Anybody knows how to root this? bin4ry method did not work.
Hi everyone,
I found these instructions for rooting the Lenovo S686 from Chinese forums, you can try and see if it works. Below are the instructions which I translate from Chinese.
You need to install a 3rd party recovery, because S686’s original recovery cannot install unsigned update.zip. There are 2 kinds of update.zip, smaller one, about 1-2MB, is for obtaining root. The bigger one is for flashing the entire system. There is no 3rd party recovery for S686, but after looking at some other models’ recovery, I think we can use A765E recovery.
Turn on USB debugging. Connect USB wire. For desktop PCs, it is better to use the back USB port.
Download this: ht tp://pan [dot] baidu [dot] com/share [slash] link?shareid=415868&uk=4130114971
After uncompressing, you will get 2 files, update.zip and Lenovo_A765E_OneKeyTools.exe. Do not uncompress the update.zip. Just put it on the TF card.
Make sure the drivers are installed. Most of the time, if it doesn’t work, it is because of driver problems. You can check whether drivers are properly installed by going to Device Manager.
Installing fastboot driver: without disconnecting USB wire, turn off phone, take out the battery. While pressing ON and VOL -, connect USB wire. Most likely fastboot driver will install automatically.
Run 刷入中文Recovery (Chinese CWM recovery). Phone will reboot 3 times.
Entering recovery mode: Turn on the phone. Red LED will light up, before it goes off, press VOL + and -, hold until Lenovo logo appears. If you see Android recovery, it means the above steps did not work. If you see Chinese CWM recovery, flash in the update.zip that you put onto the TF card.
After this post on the Chinese forums, there were many people saying it works, and many people saying it does not work. I (tangys) could not get it to work with my S686. So either I am an idiot, or the guy who wrote the original post is an idiot. So please try it and post back here whether it works for you or not. Thanks.

hi.from where i can find kernel or some ROM for lenovo s686.thanks
This following method worked for me. Got ride of the bloatware that Lenovo put on there.
got the files from
www lenovohome net/thread-137736-1-1.html
some detailed instructions to setup here
lenovo zol com cn/177/1763_1767961.html
I'm a noob at rooting/changing firmware so took some extra time.
Need to setup the ADB drivers. This was slightly involved as the drivers from the phone ITSELF showed up as not properly signed. So I had to go and turn off the win8.1 check to get it properly installed. You end up with Lenovo ADB Device in device mgr and a few other Lenovo items.
Basically, there's an exe that you run (name has chinese char in it.. so it may look strange). It's an automated CWM installer. My version now shows CWM 6.0.1.5. All the text in there is in chinese.
Lastly, you flash in the update_v2.zip and when done, you get a root enabled , bloatware removed CYANOGENMOD system.
One note: when done flashing and you choose reboot, there is actually a prompt for you to "repair root". I've found that you must say yes at this point. Otherwise, root is not working when rebooted. You'll have to repair root later.
That's the good side. Now the bad side:
This phone only has 3 keys (pwr, vol+ / -) so there's currently no way to get menu button.
There is also no store in the version flashed....no sure how to install any apps
Need to resolve these issues.

How to root LG L50 Sporty (a.k.a LG D213c)

So this is my first post on XDA, due to the lack of information on this particular device. Here I'll try to explain how I managed to root this device after trying several methods available here and all over the web. First I'll explain what didn't work:
VROOT (*)
Framaroot
Motochopper
SRS Root
MTK Toolkit
Nearly every solution on the web
After trying every method above, I noticed none of them were working. They all were giving false positives. No ROOT at all. I was kinda frustrated, 'cause I had followed every instruction possible, without success. I double checked my PC drivers, and I noticed something odd: Every time I changed the USB connection type on the L50, Windows installed different drivers for the device. I'm saying this was odd because I installed the drivers from LG drivers pack, so I was a bit confused. So, after Windows Installed the drivers for MTP, Modem, PTP and LG mode, I tried VROOT and... VOILÁ! I had ROOT:laugh::laugh:
So here are the steps I followed, and the tools I used:
Download VROOT (a.k.a. as IRoot) from w w w. mgyun. c o m / en / getvroot (without spaces)
Enable DEBUG MODE (Surf the web if you don't know on how to do it).
Plug your device to your PC and wait until Windows Installs the drivers for the connection type.
Without unplugging the device, Change the USB connection type to the next one. Wait 'till windows finishes installation.
Repeat the previous step untill you finish with all connection types.
Check Device Manager for missing drivers. If you have some missing, repeat steps above.
Open VROOT/IROOT and plug your device to the PC. Follow on-screen instructions and wait.
ENJOY!
Now, I have to find a Custom Recovery that works with L50... so if you guys know where I can get one, I'll appreciate your help.
Your Thread will be moved to appropriate Section.
So I tried to make a recovery for this phone, but it cannot boot. It says boot certification error, and the phone reboots normally.
So is it possible that the bootloader is locked? I want recovery for this phone too.
someone know how i can do a nandroid backup on LG L50 ?
Thank you so much. Worked on D213AR
Can you confirm if there is a way to unlock NFC hidden option on my phone?

[GUIDE] SM-T210 PhilZ Touch Recovery + Root

Hey guys, today I'm back with another root guide. Of course it also shows you how to install recovery in case you don't have it. I will try to make the guide as easy to understand as possible, you know, for noobs. It's going to be a long day.
First thing, you can get any SuperSU zip that you want from Chainfire. I have the guaranteed one that I used to root mine. It depends on you. I will give you both links to Chainfire's thread and my file.
Requirements
-A PC
-Your device with USB cable(its battery level would better NOT below 30%)
-A stable internet connection
-Your brain(it can blow up, man, seriously)
A warning before we start:
-Files you download on your PC:
+Drivers
+Odin+Recovery
-Files you download to your device: Root(Chainfire's or mine)
Download all of them before you do anything. Extract Odin and recovery
The drivers are for Windows. I don't know if there are Samsung USB drivers for Mac or not.
Main Guide
1. Enable USB debugging on your device in developer options(to enable dev options, go to about phone, rapidly tap build number until it says that you have enabled it)
2. Open the drivers setup and install it on your PC.
3. Boot to Download mode on your device(Power off your device, then hold power and volume down button. When there's a triangle, press volume up.)
4.Connect your device to your PC via USB cable.
5.Run Odin on your PC
6.Uncheck Auto Reboot, click PDA and choose the recovery file.
7.Hit Start and wait until there's a PASS sign. Plug out your device and hold power button afterwards.
8.Hold power and volume up button to boot into recovery mode.
9.Tap Install, go to the folder where you put the root file in, then tap the root file.
10.Swipe to falsh.
11.Reboot, download Root Checker to verify
ENJOY!

Well, I tested it on the 8 or 9 inch whatever and it worked out. But there's a still chance that this won't work on models other than its own. You can check and send me your device's model and i'll figure out another way for you. But don't try this method, it will only make it worse.

Ok, you should try the other root zip file, because I posted 2 to make sure that you can do it all over again. Or you should first try rebooting your device again. I'm sorry for the inconvenience

[FIX] Orange State Bootloop on OUKITEL K6000 Plus - HOW TO FIX

Hello,
After unlocking the bootloader and installing TWRP on my OUKITEL K6000 Plus I was trying to install madOS, but unfortunately my phone went into Orange State bootloop. I could not enter fastboot anymore, and at some point even Recovery stopped to work. My phone was almost dead. I was looking for solutions but actually there was no clear guide how to revive a patient. I found that many people have similar issue so when I finally managed to resurrect my K6000 with original stock ROM I decided to share my solution.
Here's the fix:
1. Google for 'Techprolonged MediaTek MT65xx USB VCOM Drivers'. Using the guide you will find install MediaTek DA USB VCOM Port Drivers via Device Manager (step 5). Do this even if you already previously installed MediaTek USB VCOM Drivers. This is very important to install this DA version of drivers, otherwise you may have problems with uploading stock ROM via SP Flash Tool.
2. Install SP Flash Tool if you don't have it yet. You can find it easily with google.
3. Download original stock K6000 Plus ROM V6.0. You can find it easily on needrom website (NOTE: you have to create an account on needrom if you don't have it yet). Unpack it.
4. Launch SP Flash Tool, go to Options->Option... in Connection settings change USB speed to Full speed and Battery to with battery. Close Option window.
5. In SP Flash Tool go to Download tab, click on choose right next to Scatter-loading file field, navigate to the folder where you unpacked previously downloaded stock K6000 Plus ROM V6.0. Open MT6750_Android_scatter.txt file.
6. In open menu choose Download Only if it's not selected by default. All fields below should have tick enabled. I mean for 'preloader', for 'recovery', etc...
7. Unplug your phone from PC if it's connected. Shut down your phone by clicking and holding for approx 10 secs ALL THREE BUTTONS: VOL UP + VOL DOWN + POWER. If you do this properly, your phone should not self-boot into Orange State anymore.
8. In SP Flash Tool click Download icon (the one with green arrow), all the fields should become inactive.
9. Using one hand only click and hold at the same time VOL UP + POWER button.
10. Now, while you still hold these buttons, you have to connect your phone to PC (plug in micro USB cable into your phone). VERY IMPORTANT: If you have STATUS_BROM_CMD_SEND_DA_FAIL (0xC0060003) error after you connect it means you don't have DA version of MediaTek driver properly installed (step no. 1).
11. Your phone should start to flash up and you should see the progress in SP Flash Tool status bar. You can release VOL UP and POWER button now. The process may take long time, for me it was more than 1 hour. The longest part was flashing up the [system]. The good thing is you can observe the progress during whole process.
12. When flashing process is end you will see a small window with the information about completion. Now you can unplug your phone, and launch it with POWER button. You should still see the Orange State message but right after that your phone should boot up into normal mode with freshly uploaded original stock ROM. Congratulations!
Hopefully this will also fix your K6000 Plus and maybe even other models.
I'm really sorry I don't provide any direct links, but I haven't posted 10 posts yet and my XDA account is still limited.
Regards,
Slavedriver
Please help I have error 4032 (BROM ERROR S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL)

You should still see the Orange State message but right after that your phone should boot up into normal mode with freshly uploaded original stock ROM. Congratulations!
Hopefully this will also fix your K6000 Plus and maybe even other models.

Hello,
After unlocking the bootloader and installing TWRP on my OUKITEL K6000 Plus I was trying to install madOS, but unfortunately my phone went into Orange State bootloop.
Hi, do I need my phone to be rooted to do this.
I unlocked bootloader in my gionee f205 from fastboot and now it is in orange state bootloop.
I haven't rooted my phone before doing it.

No green android when using flash or fastboot mode

Hi,
First of all the bootloader is already unlocked.
Two problems:
1. - I was trying to flash twrp.img on my mobile but I am not getting that green android to show up in my screen all I get a black screen with blue led light, I usually power off the mobile, hold volume up and then connect the USB cable to my mobile.
2. - Can't find mobile device while using flash or fastboot, my mobile Developer option and USB debugging are turn on, mobile drivers and adb-setup-1.4.3 are installed, I have access to my mobile on my PC , when I do the process of flashing or fastboot I turn off the mobile and I unplug USB cable from my mobile, I press the keys to do flash or fastboot (I don't see no green android just a led light turn on) and connect the USB cable, problem is my PC can't find the mobile device, I use adb function eg. adb devices or fastboot devices I get nothing no device no info.
Is this problem with Win 10?
Was my problem understood in 2. - ?

Most likely a drivers problem, Windows10 fails to tell you that it's not installed the drivers that you pressed the install button on. It also fails to assign the right drivers when you add the phone in flashmode/fatsboot.
You will need to add them manually.
Go into safe mode and use 'driver signing disabled', try adding the drivers again. Then plug in you phone in flashmode/fastboot, then look in the device manager for the phone and change it
Several people have reported success with Zdiag drivers
