I tried it! Suffered boot loop first.
Went to recovery flashed it again and then flashed custom ROM.
Worked for me but there's some annoying sound playing continuously and I don't know what that is :/

This is what I got!

yes, you have to reformat it or go to settings-->backup & reset---->factory data reset---->erase everything/ erase phone storage, it will reset and reboot. you will get your phone storage formatted. check partitions using titanium backup.

If u don't mind, back up ur current rom and data in phone storage, flash stock kk rom using flash tool, root and get superuser for supersu, install philz latest recovery and take back up of rom, follow the procedure carefully and restore stock kk rom from back up.
While rebooting, recovery will ask to root your device, click yes.
Procedure working exactly, if it says phone storage damaged, coz philz recovery is unable to format sdcard0 i.e. phone storage, so reformat it.

go to recovery mode
do a factory reset
cache wipe
You do not need to flash cwm.
use gb original recovery.

Or you can flash cwm.
Then u can recovery from the backup.
For my experience, I encouter the same things as u (downgrade to gb, can't bpot).
What I do is listed below:
1. power off phone.
2. power on phone and press home+volume up to enter one mode (I don't how to name it. Also, the mode is like cwm, but only few functon)
3. select factory reset. select cache……
4. then u can reboot to a clean gb systen
5. flash cwm via odin and recovery it to the backup I made before flash ics.

A good tip before you flash the new official JB UCMC1

Hello...
I saw that many users have a hard time flashing official roms using ODIN, and since Samsung and AT&T released their official JB UCMC1 and many users reported bootloops following the successful flash, here's a good approach I always use to avoid any problems in and/or following the flash procedure..
1.Since most of us are using custom recoveries, and they offer much superior functionally, boot into your custom recovery (doesn't matter what, cwm or TWRP).
2.DO A NANDROID BACKUP before you do anything to your external sdcard.
3.Wipe data/factory reset..
4.Format system/data/cache
5.If you have no external sdcard SKIP THIS STEP,plus this is optional (I prefer and do) : Format internal sd card..(I know many "smart" guys will jump here saying no need
(Of course my backups are on external sdcard..)
6.Now you're almost completely wiped and ready..
7.Power off your device.
8.Hold vol. up AND down simultaneously AND connect your OEM usb cable..
9.Now you're on Download mode..
10.Proceed with ODIN flash..
And now you can flash perfectly fine and without any chance of bootloop or and fear of previous rom leftovers..
Moreover, in case of any other emergency (not related to the above steps), and since boot and recovery partitions are still intact, you can power off, reboot to recovery and restore a previous nandroid if necessary..
Hope this might help.
Thanks

That's why you do a factory reset in the stock recovery after flashing in odin if you get a boot loop.

Good, having to go to stock recovery after a bootloop to do factory reset proves the theory that leftovers from your previous roms flashes are there( in /data and /cache...because those are the 2 partitions that will be wiped after factory reset) and needs to be cleaned...And provided that stock recovery doesn't allow system wipe,it's not better than doing those wipes BEFORE you flash (and at that time before you ODIN you have a better recovery that can wipe all partitions)
Any informed computer use would agree that cleaning is done before you install(and not the other way around, because it would be stupid)..
Thanks buddy..

Aren't the tar stock roms were taken from kies cache in windows(i.e. during a kies update) and then uploaded ?

There is a first build for Our Galaxy Young (Also the dual Sim variant).
I've managed to get working the EXTERNAL SD Card but the Backup mode is still corrupt.
If You want to get the root mode, flash the supersu.zip via Recovery !
Flash recovery via Odin
To download the Recovery and the Supersu zip, get to my FTP
Good luck !

Hello,
I'm still wondering how to do this without odin.
Why the tar.md5?
I can use heimdall, http://www.webupd8.org/2012/06/heimd...t-runs-on.html
because I use linux. However, why is it an .md5 file? heimdall can only work with a .tar.gz file.
Is there a way to do it with recovery after copying a file to /cache?

Everyone,
I would caution against androsamace's howto. It installed CWM on my phone but you can no longer use the phone/get into jellybean. It only boots to recovery. I even tried wipe data/factory reset and it still only boots to CWM. I'm trying to get to where I can actually USE My phone again as we speak.

It can be done now, in this moment, without this Backup modes in CWM ( But if You really want to backup all the rom, use the CWM from androsamace, I think doing a backup via Titanium Backup is sufficient), coz we have Odin all the time to flash a stock rom.
Problem is there, that I can't install Ubuntu on my laptop along Windows 8..... And my Personal PC with linux and all the needed stuff is waiting in Italy, but I can't bring it here, no money..

Make sure you're on the latest version of TWRP. I believe it ends in ".1".
Otherwise just use CWM instead. You can install that with a free app called Flashify very easily.

Easiest way is to restore with odin
then using Casual All in one
Root, Flash Insecure aboot
go to google play download Rom manager then install CWM
or try just download rom manager then install CWM replace TWRP
Problem is I'm still in TWRP recovery, as I've been unsuccessful with flashing any ROM (so far). Do I need to have an operating system installed in order to install CWM?

Dude, uninstall Rom Manager asap and never use it again, this has always been a terrible app and now its real terrible. Flash a custom recovery with Flashify (Play) or in fastboot (fastboot flash recovery namerecovery.img). Rom Manger is not a solution but a problem.

Rom Manager is unstable and buggy mate, if you have a working recovery then you`re lucky. Make sure to backup your current rom before you start flashing and backup your EFS folder and store it on the PC to be sure.

ART is still experimental atm and some apps are not optimized for it yet. That can cause bootloops in some cases. If that should happen restore the backup.

Dude, @gee2012 is just trying to help, and is right about RM. I used it back in the day on my Nexus One running CM before there were any alternatives. Over time, RM got wonkier and wonkier, ending up an app that is best avoided. I recommend that you take the advice of a recognized contributer, and don't continue to be loyal to a has-been app that could bork your system.
PS. Welcome to the forum!

Sure it is. I was talking about Rom Manager, please don`t ever use it again. Just for your sake mate.
Everything said about Rom Manager is 100% correct; it's long been known to brick some phones, due to the recovery files it lists not being compatible with a lot of devices (and poorly defined).
Great advice, @PhilipTD and @gee2012.

I don't need closed framework. So uninstalling and then switching ART should work? I'm scared it will go into a bootloop!

If it works for you, it works. Don`t have to flash it twice. Look above @PhilipTD`s post for Philz Touch CWM, which is even better and has more options than CWM. Its a zip and you can flash it in CWM.
And its noob, not noon
