[Q] App specific volume control - Android General

I have been looking through the android API but can't seem to be able to find an API that could enable me to set the volume level per specific app. For example, if I have sportify in the background and I open clash of clans, both apps will be concurrently using the audio output. So I need possibly an already made API with the means of reducing the volume for one app and increasing for the other. Should be like the mixer on windows.

[APP][2.3-4.1 and 4.4+] SpeakerBoost

Speaker Boost boosts speaker volume on Android 2.3-4.1 and 4.4+. (It doesn't work on 4.2 and 4.3.)
There are other apps that do this, and do more (equalizer support, virtualizer, etc.), but this is meant to be a very light-weight free app (~43K as of 1.01) just to boost the volume and nothing more.
You can pop it up at any time you like just by holding down the search key, which may be handy, or by using the notification bar.
By default it puts up both a volume slider and a boost slider, which is handy for devices without volume buttons, but you can remove the volume slider (menu | settings).
Free version: Google Play (no ads)
Donation version: Google Play (identical to free version, but supports developer)
Source code is available, BSD licensed.
I completely removed the ad in 1.03. You can get it in the Market or at code.google.com/p/speakerboost
I'll give it a shot today.
Thanks
I posted a new version in the Market. In the Settings, you can now set a limit to how high you want to allow the boost to go.
By the way, this really is USE AT YOUR OWN RISK software. Based on reviews, one user blew out earphones and two damaged their phones: this can make the sound really loud, and you need to use it responsibly. My rule of thumb--and I don't know how reliable it is--is that if you hear audio distortion, you should immediately crank it down.
After using Speaker Boost, the app displays in the task switcher in Android. Is it possible to disable displaying the app in the task switcher?

Used it on your own risk
I test it on my Samsung Note Build ..very useful thanks for sharing this app . The best booting volume app ever..keep up the good work bro .
It's looking like this doesn't work with the stock music player on Samsung devices (that music player has its own equalizer settings that can be used to boost audio, and I can't override them--the API says that I've got control over the equalizer, but the volume doesn't change up or down). Does it work with the stock music player on non-Samsung devices? (The music player on Samsung Android 2.3 devices is different from the music player in the Android 2.3 sources.)
I have some users writing reviews that say that the current version doesn't work on devices the previous version worked on. Anybody here see this?
SpeakerBoost is back! While Google eviscerated the API that I was previously using for boosting, in 4.4 they introduced the LoudnessEnhancer effect, and so SpeakerBoost should once again work.
There is now a $0.99 Donate version if you want to support the developer.
I just uploaded new versions with nicer notification icons.
Does this work on lollipop and can this increase the phonecall volume?
By the way, i an using Asus zenfone5 with resurrection remix rom.
Just a quick note that I've just sold the app to Prometheus Interactive. I have good reason to hope they will develop the app in good ways, but I won't be developing it further myself.
Does it have support for Nougat?
EXCELLENT! Still works on my Note 8 and 9!

You can use any advanced DSP manger like noozxoide or viper4android.
So, with viable external solutions available, would you still need this feature request?

We can you use third party tools. They interfere all the audio before it's send to the hardware.
But, most of the OEM DSP (eg: Sound alive, Music FX, etc.) can't be launched directly & will not process audio untill or unless it's called by the app.

Yes, i need it, but low priority of development.
one more request
That would be a very nice addition.
I have lots of media files with different volume levels, mostly short clips that play on repeat. No option to normalize a volume default across the files.
The original request is about a dynamic normalization in the same media for quieter sequences. No big need for me, but nice too.
Thks

Can you revoke an app's permission to gain audio focus using adb?

Trying to get one badly programmed app (Pokemon Go) from interfering with another badly programmed app (Audible). The former takes audio focus with no sound enabled and no way to stop it, the latter has no option to ignore it, only switch between pausing and lowering volume.
This may be a dumb question as I'm not aware of what exactly can be done in adb or whether there's a permission you can revoke for audio focus (stock moto z play nougat), but is it possible to revoke pogo's ability to gain focus? Or Audible's ability to notice it? Without root.
Same exact question, with exact same phone (stock moto play) , exact same apps (audible vs pokemon go). Anyone?
https://www.xda-developers.com/pokemon-go-audio-focus/
I was wondering if I could disable audio focus for all apps?
Like maybe continuing listening to music while talking on the phone(basically merging both audio outputs). Or playing game while listening to good music or podcasts. Etc etc. Is there a way rather than doing it individually. Ya I have seen the Pokemon go Audio focus thingy.

Control Android Volume Levels on a Per-App Basis ?

Is there any app that allows to control volume levels on a per app basis? Sometimes I'm listening to music spotify and want to use Instagram with zero sound (while viewing videos there) or play a game with volume muted but currently not able to do so.
I have a rooted Oneplus 9RT running Android 11.
Try some utility app such as Tasker. It will be helpful to you.
