Hi!
I'm wondering if there are any apps like AirDroid out there where I don't have to connect to the same wifi network to screencast my android device. It's in another room on a dock, charging and giving me all the wifi tethering I could want.
Since it does wifi tether, I cannot connect to the same local network from the device... so I have to do remote access.
Anyone out there?

Hi,
I'm a happy owner of both a Nexus One and a Nook Color, both rooted and running CyanogenMod.
I got a full data access on my mobile so I can tether its connexion to either any laptop (using wifi or usb tethering) or the Nook Color (using wifi or bluetooth PAN). That's working quite fine even though this requires to get a good data signal strength covering the place you are.
Unfortunatelly, at work, I almost got no data access.
My laptop got full internet access via its LAN Ethernet adapter and has both wifi and bluetooth available.
My question is simple : How can I share my laptop's internet access with my android devices using bluetooth ?
PS : Even if I can only pair one of the two android devices with my laptop at a time, that still would rock !
Thanks !
Bump... I have the same question and exactly the same situation...!!
I have same problem here. My computer get full access internet via LAN, and just only have bluetooth connection (no wifi). How i can share it? symbian can share bluetooth internet connection with apps called GNUBOX. How about Android? Anyone can help??
I think that you can't use internet over bluetooth,
maybe you can try using internet over usb cable - it is supported in newer android updates

I don't understand...you are basically using your Blackberry/laptop configuration to make a mobile hotspot, right? If the Xoom can access the wifi signal for one app it should be able to for any app. Maybe I'm missing something. Can you give more explanation?

I connected my blackberry bold which has 3g to my laptop which broadcasts the connection via wifi. The chrome browser and android market and other goodies apps connect but installed apps don't connect. Plus I recently bought a huawei e5 mobile 3g wireless router. I got my xoom connected to the network but right now only the browser goes online,. The other apps just do not. I don't know what other piece of detail I can give other than the fact that my Xoom wifi is not connecting to 3g networks broadcast via wifi. Any ideas?
This is really very strange... I switched my 3G-Xoom into flight mode and then activated WiFi (so it basically behaves like a WiFi-only Version) and connected it to my mobile (Samsung Galaxy S) and all apps are able to access the internet. Connecting ist to a UMTS-Router (Option GlobeSurf) also worked like a charm...
Did you try to connect your Xoom to a WiFi-Router at home (= Internet access via cable not UMTS)? Does this work or do you encounter the same probs?

If you're using an android phone you can set up your phone as a wifi hotspot. Settings/more/mobile network sharing. Not sure if your phone has to be rooted to do this.

Most of the time this feature is turned off by your carrier. You usually have to pay extra. But try wifi tether, barnacle from Google play there are some like pda that do not require root . good luck
Nice and easy to share celluar internet with your tablet. If you can't on your original, there is a few apps to help out with that on the play store. I perfer to use bluetooth to share the data, since it uses less battery power.
If you can't buy a Wifi/Bluetooth tethering app on your phone, you probably can on your tablet, and use a root file explorer to transfer the file from your tablet and install it on your phone. Just don't share that file with anyone else. You'll need to have your google play account on both devices, but it does work. Most Bluetooth tethering apps this way require a client and server, and don't work quite so well.
The second way you can go about it is more complex if your Celluar carrier has tethering turned off. Flash a non-tethering-blocked rom onto your phone (CyanogenMod works) and then just use the built in tethering. Bluetooth tethering this way works wonderfully.
And for both methods, might look into Tasker - an automation utility that can help set up connections when conditions are met.
But that is roughly your two options if your carrier has tethering blocked. Find an App or Flash your phone.
Good luck
Hi all,
Wondering if anyone knows of an Android app that will allow me to share the lan connection on my tablet via wifi?
Have looked at lots of hotspot type apps but the vast majority are simple shortcuts to an exisiting wifi hotspot function that shares the mobile data connection.
Seems daft to me that I have lan and wifi on my tablet but I'm looking at an ap to connect my other devices!
Thanks
Jin
I didnt understand what u said
If u want to share ur tab net to other use wifi hotspot
If u have wifi connection u can connect via wifi

Are you trying to tether your data connection or do you mean using your tablet as a hub for an existing wifi connection?
What phone do you have?
What carrier?
Did you root your phone?
Have you flashed a new ROM?
Sorry but you were rather vague in your post.

Ok thanks. To clarify my tablet (not phone and therefore no carrier involved) has both ethernet and wifi I would like to use the ethernet to connect to my network/internet and then broadcast that connection via wifi.
This is exactly the same thing a normal wifi hotspot does except it broadcasts the mobile data connection as opposed to a wired connection.
The tablet has been flashed with Tims 6 ROM
Don't now if it's possible. On phone it;s not possible to share be a hotspot when you're on wifi. I guess it uses the same piece of hardware. That might also be the case for you with the LAN.
BTW try talking to this guy :

he had sort of the same question perhaps he figured it out?
edit: This is also you i now see.. never mind

How do you have your tablet connected to the internet, wireless or wired? If wired, how did you do that? If it's wireless, you're just using your tablet as a signal booster.
What i'm confused on is if you connected your tablet wireless and want to connect other devices to your tablet's "wifi" which in essence is wifi, why can't that device connect to the same internet as your tablet?
I think we're all a bit confused on what you're trying to accomplish.
Sorry folks struggling here with what you don't get (not being smart just confused)
I have an Android tablet that has both wifi and an ethernet connection, I connect to my network via ethernet and want to use that connection to then create a wifi hotspot for my other devices to connect to.
I already do this with my win7 laptop and am looking for an app to do the same on the tablet.
If my terminology is correct I need to bridge the lan connection to the wifi adapter?
Hi all,
I'm looking for a way of turning my droid device into a portable Hotspot but using my existing BT Connection.
Essentially, I connect to BT OpenZone to access the internet. I have other devices I want to connect to the internet but they don't have browser options to login to BT Openzone.
So is there anyway I can use my droid as a hotspot without using mobile data.
Many thanks.

You could try:
- installing BTWifi app to auto-login to BTWifi hotspots
- setting up Android wifi hotspot on your android device
- turning off mobile data on your 2G/3G/4G connection
- setting up your other devices to connect to the Android wifi hotspot on your device
- keep your device plugged in to the mains for as long as possible
If you are rooted and running a custom rom like CM11, firewalls like AFWall+ give you even more options
