That is not a flashable zip, it includes a .bat file to run from your windows PC to install dual recovery
You will need
Z3-lockeddualrecovery2.8.1-RELEASE.flashable.zip
To flash this recovery, but of course, you already need a working recovery to do this.

I agree, his question is not clear at all. I initially thought he wanted a flashable zip in order to downgrade, which would be pointless.....

.zip
any .zip file , i mean any .zip firmware included the ftf and recovery and supersu. to flash it and work

Have you already installed a recovery? Which firmware do you want included?

You can install updates manually when Asus release them on the website I always do, you will not be able to update the normal way OTA as you have been doing so far.

There any post to do so as you say manually?
I imagine it would be removing and installing CWM recovery asus stock Original and perform the manual update as you say, I apologize for so many questions but I have difficulty understanding the post translated into Spanish thanks.

Read this thread about updating manually http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317114
I would recomend using TWRP recovery and not CWR when you have unlocked your bootloader. By the way when I update all I do is restore a stock backup, then download the update from Asus to my pc then extract the zip file from within the downloaded file then transfer the zip file to my tablets sdcard and then go in to recovery and install, you will loose root and TWRP recovery but with Motochopper it's not a problem now rooting is so easy then once rooted use Goomanager to install TWRP this has never failed for me.

[Q] N00bQuestion about Flashing...

Hi, i'm from Colombia, and I have this Sony Xperia E C1504, Rooted with SRSRoot, but my current firmware is 11.3.A.0.56, and i find this http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-j-e/general/how-to-xperia-e-c1505-firmware-11-3-2-t2435957 (Firmware 11.3.A.2.23), I have some questions, i'm sorry i'm newbie here, doing this, the only thing i flashed was an old tablet with 2.3.3GBread.
1. Will this firmware work for me? ( i have C1504 and it says C1505, also, im From Colombia, does it matter?
2. My phone is rooted, do i need to flash the kernel when i move (if i can) to 2.23 in order to root like is shown?
Ty for your time, i just had to ask
Okay, firstly, there isn't any firmware with build number 11.3.A.0.56 - I'm taking it you have 0.47 instead of 0.56.
Sure, you can install it - I have a C1504 too, and I think it is safe to say that you can use any Xperia E firmware - even the Xperia E dual ones (C1604 or C1605).
and about root?
Sir, thank you, i have one more question. My phone is rooted with this current firmware, in order to root the 2.23 Firmware here's how to do it:
1. Flash kernel 11.3.A.0.47
2. Root your XE using Framaroot. (Gandalf exploit)
3. Flash kernel 11.3.A.2.23
But, since i've my phone rooted, do i need to follow the steps above?

Okay... I didn't even know that we had a 0.56 firmware....
@XperiaEss Unlocked bootloader and fastboot aren't needed to flash FTF files; only flash mode is required for that, and flash mode works on locked bootloaders too.

yessss...exactly....but can it be flashed through CWM?? (img, elf, sin)
So, can i do it, right? Flash that firmware to update it, i've used titanium backup, and everything is now in mi SD.
But, in order to root? do i need to flash kernel? is that the only way ?
@leolook Yeah, sorry we took it a bit off-topic. If you mean you want to upgrade to 2.23, downgrade to 0.47 kernel, use Framaroot and then upgrade to 2.23 kernel again - sure, no problems. LOng as you have a Titanium backup or Nandroid, you're fine.
@XperiaEss Those can be flashed via fastboot, which needs an unlocked bootloader (unfortunately).
@NSDCars5
so.... boot.img in roms work with flashing with CWM
but seperate boot.img files has to be flashed through fastboot?
if i put a boot.img in a zip wii it cwm flash?

Probably, but you also need to modify the updater-script (in META-INF/com/google/android) to extract the file. The line will read something like:
Code:
package_extract_file("boot.img", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p3");
(This one was from jjm34's CM10.)

Wait, don't install recovery. You'll install recovery at the end when you're at 4.4.4. Just flash kitkat 4.4.4 or update it via ota as you like and follow this tutorial to root it with full permissions. After everything is done install the recovery. But be careful read my full instructions on how to flash in 4.4+.

Good job.
Yes, it can boot to recovery on all stock roms 4.4.2 - 4.4.3
Yes, it can flash stock flashable zip kernels, but on latest firmware, especially KK 4.4.4 all my attempts with 18.3.1.C.0.21 failed with boot loops.
I'm not very surprised because this recovery is a good old repacked CWM-Based Recovery 6.0.4.6 by DooMLoRD, and it is made for Unlocked Bootloader.
If we want to have a full functional CWM,PhilZ Touch or TWRP recovery for locked BL on Xperia M2, we need a solution like XZDualRecovery by NUT.
Anyway, thanks for your work.
Can you upload a kernel for 4.4.2 please ?
While installing CWM by terminal emulator it shows
"E:invalid command argument
E:Cant Open /tmp/recovery.log"
Code i used was
Su
Recovery -update_package=/sdcard/recovery.img
I hav done by teminal coz my volume buttons are not working so.for up-down navigation volume buttons are needed bt its not working so i tried with code bt its showing me error. And while flashing in rom install it shows "Error:cant locate recovery partion"
Please help for install zip of cwm without volume button.

Bootloader is locked. Phone is rooted. The .exe file worked properly and all the files are where they should be on the phone but still impossible to get into Recovery.
Phone turns on, Blue light turns on, trying pressing, tapping and holding but the phone never vibrates and just continue the boot like I've done nothing.

[Guide][Receive OTA after root][keep apps/data][GT-I9500][5.0.1]

a lot of users are having this problem and if you want to receive an OTA you have to flash the stock unrooted firmware that will cause lose of data.
this guide will show you how to receive OTA again without losing your stuff
This works on GT-I9500 ONLY! (Lollipop 5.0.1 Recovery)
This also should work on any other model, but you have to replace the recovery with your model!
Steps:
1- Go to SuperSU and scroll down to "Full unroot" then reboot.
2- Download This file to PC and extract it.
3- Go to download mode by pressing the power key + home key + volume down key at the same time, then press volume up.
4- Flash the file via Odin (AP) or (PDA)
go to check the system status, you will find it Official
you can now receive OTA.
Q&A:
What is OTA (Over The Air)? Its an update which you can receive over wifi or mobile data.
What do i get from OTA? Well, if you root your device you wont be able to receive an update again, unless from flashing firmware via Odin.
- Why im still on custom status? Because you modified your system.
- What kind of modifying? Installing busybox, editing or deleting or changing any app or file system.
and some times xposed.
- How do i restore the old app? You can restore them by flashing firmware or by restoring Nandroid backup.
- Then what is the use of your guide? Well my guide helps in first place the rooted not the modded onces.
and always do Nandroid of the original system apps+data
you are still having your apps, data, pics, vids, etc...
you can root again at anytime.
check my thread for rooting if you want
im not responsible for any bricks
thank you...

At some point the update maybe canceled, because the update checks for the apps before the installation, always do a backup of your phone then remove what you want, after you want to update just restore the system folder from the backup

There are instructions in a guide in this very section of this forum.
Works like a charm. Having recently purchased the phone I didn't want to root it. But after I realized that Oppo released the May firmware (around 1.3 GB) on their website. Everything works as it should. I'm hoping for an official forum with more stuff.
A question, what theme are you using with the default launcher?
