Generally you should use the same recovery version for restoring in which you have created the backup.
BTW "3e" reminds me of stock recovery. Usually you can't create a complete system backup (nandroid backup) in stock recovery. You will need to flash a custom recovery first, then create a backup.
Best is to check this thread about your device: Micromax Canvas 2.2 A114 Development, ROM, Root, CWM {Ultimate Thread}.
If you are registered on xda, you can post your question in the corresponding Q&A thread.
And here is a general guide for MTK devices: [GUIDE] Beginner's guide - first steps with a MTK phone.

thanks sir for your suggestion
much appreciated
is there any way to extract at least contacts from that .backup file created by android recovery 3e (stock recovery)
Regards
Rajesh

As I don't use any "backup" of stock recovery, you should better ask in one of the threads I posted in my previous answer.
I know that you can restore parts of a nandroid backup created in custom recovery (e.g. CWM or TWRP recovery).
Thanks for your understanding. Thread closed.

Nandroid backup
The first part of your journey is to learn about how to perform a Nandroid backup. There are lots of resources available if you search XDA and/or Google.
Here is just one - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1713869 (which points to a decent external article of the subject)
You will need to get a custom recovery onto your device in order to perform the backup. Personally, I used TWRP and have found it to be excellent far. Good luck!
Install CWM recovery via rom manager and reboot in recovery. You can backup your rom there
You must have any recovery in ur device.
Reboot into recovery and choose backup and restore option and do a complete backup of ur device

Help -- CWM backup, Flashing Rom & Restore backup.
Hi, i recently flashed CWM v5.5.0.4 on huawein ascend y511. Only can't enter recovery with keys/button combination but with adb and some other app. I made backup with CWM from advance option.
I didn't unlocked bootloader but Flashed "CWM" successfully created backup with it.
Now the question is:
-- What in case i install/flash custom Rom, is it safe?
-- in case yes, will i be able to restore back to stock by restoring backup took with CWM.
&
-- How i can restore/flash stock recovery, is it possible with same method as flashing custom recovery?
Thats all.... Thanks.

[Completed] Made twrp backup, need zip, no computer

I'm now on stock trying to get root. In the meantime, I have made a backup of my old Rom when I had root and now I want to make it a flashable zip. I read the post in xda about how to go about this process and to go out to get access to a PC would be troublesome. 1) Is it possible to create the zip file from the backup using my phone 2) Can I flash this Zip using a non-official stock recovery & 3) I have tried to flash the SU zip with the stock recovery and it says that it's corrupt software although it's a clean file. Is there a way for me to flash the SU zip using my stock recovery. Now I apologize if it seems like I should be doing a lot more of my own research but I have been doing too much to the point that I'm stressing myself. My phone is a ZTE Grand X Max+. Thank you to all and enjoy the weekend.

Hi, Thanks for using XDA assist
It looks like there is no dedicated forum for your device, however
There is a general forum for android here http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help where you can try to ask to get expert's help.

[Completed] How do I boot into stock recovery after I installed CWM?

So I'm using a noname QSmart phone, for which, surprisingly, I found a CWM img; however, after I installed CWN, I can no longer boot into stock recovery (3e). This is a problem since I did my backup on the stock recovery and now, I cannot restore it due to the fact that CWM does not recignise stock .backup files. I acknowledge that I can just flash stock recovery back but that would defeat my purpose of cracking the pattern lock (I won't go in details but don't worry, you don't need to know). Basically, I need a way to boot into stock recovery OR a way to restore that .backup file I created earlier.
TL;DR: I f***ed up and I need a way to boot into stock recovery from CWM or a way to restore stock .backup files from CWM
I'm new so forgive me if I made any mistake
Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome to XDA.
Your stock recovery got wiped as soon as you flashed cwm. You have to find the stock firmware for your phone and extract the recovery image and flash it now. The backup you made before might still be in your internal storage so if you do that you'll be able to restore your backup.
I couldn't find any information about your device here at xda so if you have any further queries try posting in Android Q&A,Help and Troubleshooting or in the friendly Q&A thread here->[Ask Any Question][Newbie Friendly]. Experts there may be able to help you.
Good luck
