Cyanogenmod for z3 finally avail? - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I stumbled across this link this morning: https: //download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=z3
I wasn't entirely sure if there are other phones out there called "z3" so I went ahead and d/led the nightly to just take a look through some files.
I opened up \cm-12-20150128-NIGHTLY-z3\system\build.prop and I see this:
ro.product.brand=Sony
ro.product.name=D6603
so that looks to me like it's official on the xperia z3...can anyone confirm this?
If indeed it is, I still haven't found a good root tutorial for this phone and I'd love it if someone could point me in the right direction of how to actually install this ROM on my phone (with root instructions).
thanks.

That is correct. Works pretty well. Used it all day, with no crashes.
This is the problems I encountered so far today:
- Loadspeaker during call (no sound at all)
- "DSP manager stopped working" so I deactivted it.
- Dark video when recording in Snapchat. I think this goes for camera app aswell
- Drains much more battery than Sonys stock rom
- A few people tried to call me, and was sent directly to voicemail
Otherwise this is quite ready for daily use.

Take a look at the development area. It's been posted there:

There are a couple of threads in the development section for CM on the Z3. They have been there for a couple of months. In order to flash this you not only need root but an unlocked bootloader. There is an excellent tutorial on how to do that on the Sony website, google it.
Then just fastboot the boot.img, and flash the ROM

well that doesn't sound mature enough for me to replace the stock Sony ROM. The stock Sony ROM is pretty good (already fairly vanilla android). Not sure I'm too interested in changing to something that has the bugs you mentioned. Maybe I'll sit this one out until it's more fleshed out...

Ok, that's funny as hell! Though I have walked into Starbucks and they were out of coffee, and I live in Starbucks central (Seattle)

You should be ok. Just read up and follow the directions. This tablet is pretty forgiving. And it is really nice once all the stock stuff is gone.
Have fun

Our local Burger King ran out of burgers once. Only had chicken and fries. Kinda false advertising. ;P Bad management issue, I had heard.
Funny story, I spent this past summer in Beijing, China, and the one time my friends and I decided to try to go get some fried chicken at a Kenny Rogers Roasters. All they had was half a chicken left lol Well, I never got that fried chicken in China
But, yeah, the forum is easy to READ and find instructions how to root/install custom roms
I don't think I even used the stock build on this tablet - first boot everything fc'd on me. Rebooted and installed TnT lite in pretty much one go.

@OP
Missed the dev forum didya?
(I had problems with the News app/widget thing in the 1.0 version of TnT, then I had problems with the weather app/widget after the 1.01 OTA update for TnT, at which point I dumped TnT for TnT lite 2.0.2 ... if the sw had worked well, I wouldn't have minded the shipped "launcher" too much... but TnT apparently needs ALOT more dev time as it seemed to be beta quality at best, if not alpha...)
Well I rooted successfully. Remounted certain system folders as rw. BEFORE I installed the TNT 2.20 I used the stock recovery tool , I made a backup to sdcard and copied that to my Linux box.
So far so good. At first I was a bit miffed to find the /system or /etc mounted ro, but got around that with busybox sudo..
Now my task is to tinker a bit around with the user-space services.
I am finding, that unlike a system-V (/etc/rc?.d with init.d), user-space tweaking in the sense of auto starting apps or whatever is not as simple as: write shell script, place in proper location, re-boot.... seems I need to write an actual app that listens for "ACTION_BOOT_COMPLETE". I sure wish it was simpler.
Oh, is the titanium backup worth it? Or is the system backup I created using the "power-on+volume-up" method just as good. Seems the method provided by ViewSonic is fine enough. However, I did not see any mention of it in the forum (my system seems to have been created on 11/22/2010, based on the system directories date before I TNTed my tablet).
Again, many thanks to those who pointed me in the proper direction. I really appreciate your input.

Don't know about all the other stuff but Viewsonic did not have a recovery option. Had to be something you installed while rooting, or whatever. The system backup in Clockwork is great for times when your tablet won't work because of something, or a program that went wrong. Titanium is great for when you have a zillion apps installed and want to install a new rom, or reload a clean version. Titanium will then let you put all your apps back without having to download them from the market, or sideload them all again. It is also useful when you have an app you can't find but it may be on your phone. You can backup the app on your phone and then move it to your tablet to install.

Yes, I think you are right. My first effort in the rooting process was to install the clockwork, but I thought it failed. However, it must not have as when I run the backup (and pay attention) I saw the "ClockWork...... msgs". Definitely a nifty tool.
FYI troops:
I was quite successful, with much thanks to all of you and your wonderful efforts.
- got market place working (however have not needed it yet at all)
- installed groomdroid (a php aware webserver)
- installed php-cgi so that groom processes ".php" web pages.
- installed php-cli program for command line php capabilities.
- installed TitaniumBackup (need to use it, probably soon)
- installed adobe flash, and it works just fine
Now to:.
- browser that is truly html5 capable (this may be dreaming as most have various parts of html5 disabled, such as the "<video>" element. However, there is a new Opera browser available that is *supp5osed* to be <video> capable. FYI: some webkit browsers, such as the QT-webkit have the html5 video element capability disabled on purpose.
- autostart apps of my choosing (I have a feeling I will be writing droid apps to accomplish this)
Again, many thanks folks.
When I get my device set up as I need it, I will post how I did it. I am trying to document the process as best I can.
I thought this was a hilarious thread, and I was going to make a joke at the OP just for fun, but I am REALLY happy that despite the doofus thread opening that nink has figured it out and has joined the ranks.
Hope you have happy flashing and have fun (and don't worry all of us were pretty lost when we began)

[Q] Update not loading

Guys,
I just became the, now rather dubious, owner of a gTablet that a colleague brought for me from the States. So far I am not that impressed. Several apps that supposed to be on there, aren't (no Kindle app out of the box, and no gMarket, despite what the manual says).
SO, I try the announced update procedure: fails.
First time fails at 8%. Second time fails at 13%, third time fails at 28%, fourth time fails at 4%. Is this a joke of some sort? Also the download is rather slow, as in, they use smoke signals to get the message across!
Does anyone have the update as a file that I can run as an apk perhaps?
I also have to point out that the GUI rather sucks. The settings menu misses about 50% of the Android 2.2 options (I have a HTC desire. Waaaay more settings options...)
After my complaints, lets get to figuring this out.
1) Can someone point me to the update pack if it is available for download via my Mac and can be installed using that ES explorer program it has installed?
2) Does the update provide Google Market or the original weblink? Does it use a different gui or still the same simpleton gui?
3) if not, is there a simple ROM flash I can do that gives me a different GUI and google Market?
I have flashed my HTC Hero before, which was not a big deal. However, I want things done simple, so if there is a good ROM with a nice GUI and simple instructions for a noob (I got two left hands when it comes to this sort of stuff), and Google Market, I would gladly see a link.
Any support will be very welcome!

Forget about the stock update and read about TNT lite or the vegan beta Rom if you feel experimental. You can get market flash and pretty much all the Google goodies.

A good start would be the following guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
Understand that there are newer versions of the rom referenced, also there's VEGAn, a rom based on the Vega.
The Gtab stock needs a lot of help but it is a very good product with a little TLC and some grunt work:
Different devices/users different opinions. I am more than satisfied with the performance and feel of my Gtab without flashing a different ROM and what I did was follow these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827209
I used root explorer instead of AndRootFile
Then I changed my launcher to ADW.Launcher
Side load flash (Instructions/.apk on XDA-developers)
Do the market fix to get all market (Instructions/.apk on XDA-developers)
add titanium backup
add ROMManager
Note: When I applied the latest update from Viewsonic (fixed the video driver, now AngryBirds, etc working) I had to re-root the device but everything else works fine.
Even fixed the issue with Gtab not seeing Ad-hoc network from phone (Instructions can be found on internet). Now my Gtab rocks, connects to my home Wifi or if not available connects to my Phone Wifi.
I can still launch the default tapNtap if I want to and Viewsonic upgrades apply fine. I had an issue with update also....Support had me set the sleep to "off" and then it worked fine, however the update image was posted on XDA-developer:
Bobtran,
Interesting perspective. Could you run Quadrant and show us what that score is?
I have had TnT up to 2.2 then swithed to VEGAn beta3 now. Q =2411
Most everything runs very very fast...
All, Thanks for the suggestions and the useful links . I might be flashing mine this weekend.
As for which ROM to use, what are the pros and cons for one over another? E.g. if I were to take the TnT ROM (I think it's at 2.4.1 now?), how does that fare against, say, the Vegan Beta4 (I think the latest is beta4 from what I read on some posts)
Bobtran, did you have a link for the update image? seemed like you were going to post it, but got cut short...
Guys,
I am trying to install Clockwork Mod v08 as per one of the links. First issue is that the tablet won't mount the SDcard to my desktop. SHouldn't be a big issue as I can coy/paste the required files from the internal storage to the SDcard via ESexplorer (standard installed on the gTablet).
However, how do I know it installed correctly? I don't see a new app and the boot install goes very fast. There is an opened box with an arrow pointing down and a load bar that seems to have green hashed filling, as if it's preparing to install. Then suddenly the splash screen pops up. The box with arrow and progress bar are there for a second or so, maybe 2. Seems rather quick. Is this correct?
EDIT: I wanted to say the boot screen didn't come up when starting up with vol+ and pwr, but just noticed, it does... so should be ok
well, seems I have been successful in flashing the new ROM (TnT 2.4.0) using CWM-v08.
Question though, the instructions in the TnT installation guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245) seem to say that the market fix only is a partial fix (note that the comment applies to TnT2.2).
Now that I installed the TnT2.4.0 ROM, I was wondering if the market fix is also only partial for TnT2.4. If yes, can I run the patch at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827209
and if yes, would that give me full Market access? If not, what's involved in getting full Market access?
As a side question that may not belong here but wouldn't be answered in the appropriate forum section: I have an XT701 phone that needs a Market Fix. Would the fix at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827209
also provide my phone with the Market? Just a side question, if no answer, that's fine...

[Q] CynogenMod 7 issues on the GTablet

I apologize if this is the wrong area for these questions. I'm having a few issues with my installation of CM7. I've tried looking in several places, but nothing seems to address my problems.
First thing I noticed upon installation was that I was never asked to set up my touchscreen or input my google information. I tried doing this manually by adding an exchange account, but that would not work. I next tried looking for my apps to see if they installed automatically this time around or not and none of my previous apps show, nor does market exist anywhere. Without any instance of market to be found I can't use any of the market fixes. However, without an inputted google id I don't think that would have mattered.
Can anyone guide me to where I can find help for these issues or post any possible solutions?
http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-tegra-20110118-signed.zip
Google apps - Flash right after you flash CM7. You might have to bypass the setup, but should be able to open the market and input google login. It won't auto download, but you'll have some market access.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919958
Read the dev thread for other issue and such, don't have the time to dig through and help further.

As the previous poster said, install Gapps. That will give you the setup screen the first time you reboot the GTab. As a word of warning, I wasn't able to bypass the first screen (touch the droid) on the main version posted in the development thread (the Beta05), even with the click around the screen. I was able to get past it right away on the "offical" build in post 18 of that thread, however (Beta01).
Let us know if that doesn't fix your problem.
Thanx alot guys. I was finally able to get market going by installing gaps and using the CyanogenMod 7 bet01. I ran into the seup screen issue with the Beta05 just like you warned. I didn't do the full market fix as everything I wanted was readily available. I'm not even sure if the full market is absent or not.
I am noticing that after you mount the USB connection you can't unmount. Also, my internal storage isn't recognized. I think there were fixes for some of this in Beta5. Is there a way to update to Beta 5 without having my previous problems or some other fix for the USB and storeage issues to anyone's knowledge?
flash to vegan5 and you will be way happier.
I tried CM7 and it had so many issues.
Once you flash vegan5 you will actually enjoy your tab
You can try flashing beta5 over beta1 and clear cache/dalvik. I'm not sure if that will work, but would be my best suggestion.
On the other hand, I actually agree with the previous poster saying that vegan is probably the better option at the moment. It seems much more stable and feature complete, even if it is froyo instead of gingerbread.
Either way, make a nandroid backup so you can go back if things go sideways.
I didn't get to post this before the responses. I did actually go ahead and flash over Beta01 with Beta05. I just didn't wipe the data or cache. Everything came back just fine. This fixed the storage and usb issues in Beta01. However, you have the previous audio issue from older builds where you have to plug in headphones and unplug them to get the audio back. I've tried VEGAn 5.1 and it works awesomely. I'm merely choosing aesthetics above overall functionality.
My tab has been delegated to fancy entertainment device (comics, casual browsing, games and video). It does all I need for now. I figure since VEGAn and CM7 are joining forces, why not do the switch early and test it out. I love where they're going with this ROM. I can't wait to get my grubby paws on a finished product.
Again, thanks big time for all the assistance. I generally skulk and read through the threads, but I love this place and all that everyone provides for the lesser technophiles like myself.
I thought maybe I could post my own problems to this thread?
So I'm on cynogen 6.1.1 on htc evo 2.2.1 kernal [email protected] #1
Anyway... I've tried 3 times to install the update to 6.1.2 today and each time it's gotten stuck around 58%. Any links to places I'm sure are there and I just couldn't find?
Also, for some reason, for the first time since I got my evo, I'm getting TONS of errors when attempting to send sms. theres a pink like traingle with a ! in the middle. Any suggestions?
How do I fix the bug with the camera?
You can email me if you like, at [email protected].
I am sort of inbetween a newb and whatever the next level would be, lol. This past week I was able to root, and install a custom mod, AND install an update to that customed mod (which is the one i'm on now) all w/o ever posting any questions to any forums. Hopefully that'll get me some brownie points?
Please PLEASE please!! I will even paypal $10 once I get this resolved.

My suggestion would be to ask somewhere more appropriate. This thread is for a different version of CM, on a different device all together.

This usually means the installation was corrupted in some manner.
And it's usually because of a corrupt zip one would flash with.
You can reflash cm7 with another fresh downloaded file if you still have access to recovery mode.
Which I think you should be able becase the boot up process makes it up to the "Android" Bootscreen before it starts bootlooping.
From Advanced Recovery mode you can mount the USB option for the SDCard then transfer the fresh DL to your SCDard that way.
Also make sure you are using bekit's version .8 of CWM while in recovery mode.
Grab CWM v.8 from here
Other versions of CWM don't work well with the GTAB.

[DISCONTINUED] Turboid 1.13

Now that we've got some Sunshine in our lives, sadly (not really) it is time for Turboid to be retired. We don't need it anymore.
If you would like to set up a rom on your unlocked Turbo that has all the features that Turboid had, upgrade to SU4TL-44, unlock with Sunshine, install TWRP, and flash following:
1. SuperSU: https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/
2. Busybox: http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...-busybox-v1-23-2-stericson-flashable-t3114476 (NOTE: This is not the latest version, but you need to have busybox flashed before you flash Pon-3. Once you boot the phone, use Busybox Installer by Stericson in the Play Store to update to the latest version).
3. Pon-3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2530976
4. Xposed Framework: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811 (Make sure to flash the correct SDK for the rom that you're running. SDK21 = Lollipop 5.0.X. SDK22 = Lollipop 5.1.X. SDK23 = Marshmallow 6.X. Also, always use the ARM version.)
5. iOS 9.1 emojis: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/themes-apps/mod-ios-emojis-android-t3231571
Once all that's flashed, let the phone boot up. Wiping cache and dalvik cache is always a safe bet after flashing anything. Once it boots, do the following:
1. Go back to the Xposed page and install the Installer apk.
2. Get Adaway here: https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=org.adaway (Install using the default settings. No need for redirecting the hosts file anymore.)
3. Better Battery Stats is here if you like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
4. The Turbo 2 command center is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/themes-apps/droid-turbo-2-command-center-root-t3244386
I think that about covers it. Go forth and flash! Thanks for letting me play dev for a few months.
Thanks to:
@computerfreek274 for his excellent roms, his dedication to them and for our SELinux discussion
@JulesJam for her various guides and posts that taught me how to do most of this
@btdownloads7 for answering my question about the HDR bug
@DespairFactor for the iOS 9.1 emoji port
@mrchezco1995 for showing myself and the world how awesome ponies can sound via Pon-3
And at long last, thanks to @jcase and @beaups for kicking Motorola and Verizon in their bootloader-locked balls!
Awesome man. Nice to have some options, even if they are fairly similar. Thanks. :good:

No prob! If you can think of anything else that you would like me to add to it, let me know.

Unlike the other images floating around, I started off with the stock SU3TL-39 system image from the full Verizon firmware. To the best of my knowledge, the other roms are based off of firstEncounter's 5.1 image, which was obtained in a different way. Does this matter? Probably not, but at the time I thought that this might fix the HDR bug, and it did, but probably not for that reason.

There's a SU3TL-39 full firmware? My images were based on the SU3TL-38 and updated to SU3TL-39 by emulating the OTA script.
(Also, HDR works on my images, for whatever it's worth)
Regardless, always glad to see more development for the Turbo!

Yep! You can get it on the motofirmwares website. Yeah, someone confirmed for me the other day that it works on your image now. In the past, I had flashed it and it didn't, but you've updated it since I did that. So I guess HDR working isn't really a feature anymore. I'm working on some gimmicks to make my image a little more relevant though.
Would it be possible for you to allow us to claim space to the area where the Google Search Bar is, when it is hidden? Also, I would like to be able to clear all the open applications without having to swipe them all one at a time. Is that possible?

I'll look into the Google search bar thing. I've never seen my screen without it, so I didn't know that the space wasn't automatically used. As for the clear all recents thing, that is one of the many features of Gravity Box for LP (a well known xposed module). Try that. I'll see if there's a way to bake it into the rom too.
I posted on the other thread about this, but I will say again here, this img is great. Has similar battery life to the other Lp img I was running, despite not having tweaks. I unplugged at 530 am. been kicking butt all day long. I streamed via Bluetooth for 2 hours driving at work, and noticed better 4g signals than I have had yet at my work using this img. There were zero glitches or bugs that I noticed. I am still at 8% battery, atm. I had a crapload of SOT. Look for yourself. amazing img. thank you!!!
p.s. I just noticed I have had max brightness all day as well. lol.
I just realized you removed the corporate email app (after a day or use, haha). Is there a way that I can side load it or something? I love the debloated ROM, but that is one app I need for my college email account.
Also, is it ok to update Moto Actions? You can understand why I ask that!
^^^ I used the Outlook app as a replacement today. Gmail also will allow you to add other email accounts now, so that may be why. As far as requests, my only one may not be reasonable or practical, but it would be a deodexed version of this. Again, awesome work.
Yeah, specifically, I need the exchange piece. I tried the outlook app, but it doesn't handle certain things as well. I also tried installing Google Email 6.5 as well as the Exchange Services apk, but I know I have to be missing something... Actually, probably lots of things! haha.
Also, adaway doesn't work with this build, is that right?

Well if you need the stock email app, I can send an image your way that has it once I find some time. I have no idea what deodexing roms entails, but that sounds like a fun project too. I'll look into it.

Haha yes, updating seems to not cause the apocalypse to occur this time around. I'll make an image that has the stock email app intact, or I'll try sideloading it and post the apk if it works.

I added the stock email app back. Side loading didn't work. Will be up in a few hours.
thats cool. honestly, deodexing is removing all of the .odex files from the rom. (located at /system/app , system/priv-app, etc.
the reason i ask about it is it would make theming easier. mind you, without system r/w access, it is a moot point. it may make the theme options available work better though. (LPthemer module comes to mind). CF has said he will not be doing that at any point, so it may be a PITA.

official Android 12 ROM released for the Ulefone Power Armor 13 !

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to help spread the word that there is an official Android 12 ROM for Ulefone Power Armor 13.
This was not publicly announced anywhere as far as I know.
Your phone will NOT receive an automatic update for this (at least as far as my experience goes).
The only way to currently upgrade to the ROM is via the SP Flash Tool.
The only reason I know about this ROM is because I just happened to be looking through their website.
Find it here!

Edit:
I should note - if you do a full wipe & flash this ROM, it WILL flash you a new IMEI number
This IMEI number will be the same IMEI number for everyone running this ROM fully wiped.

I keep getting an "incorrect scatter file format" error when attempting to flash using SP. Either I'm doing something wrong or they messed it up.

What SP Flash Tool version are you using?
I flashed with SP Flash Tool v5.2216
Another tip - move the ROM folder inside the SP Flash Tool folder.

Oh gosh you name it. I went thru numerous versions, some antiquated, some supposedly being the latest versions. Definitely used v5.22, probably twice if not more.
Thanks for the tip about moving the ROM folder. I figured the solution might have to do with the placement of the ROM folder or the SP flash tool folder(possibly both on C: drive) but I just kept on getting the same annoying error message. I'm gonna take your advice right now as a matter of fact. Hopefully it'll work for me as I'm assuming it did for you.
Incidentally, you probably know this already...about the wireless update section having the ability to apply updates 'locally' as well. Tried that a couple of times but no go. Just before you replied I was gonna try the old 'update from recovery mode' but I'd rather try your approach.
Here we go(again!)
Ok.... I'm back. What's it been, over 4 hours since my last post? but in truth I can't claim to have been pulling my hair out for that long. Maybe 2 and a half lol.
>Alternate response: Wow. That was not fun. I somehow managed to boink my phone to seemingly do nothing but start in Fastboot mode.
**But wait, let me give credit and thanks where it's due to benhall. That little tidbit of advice that practically Everyone neglected to divulge about putting the ROM folder in the SP flash folder- a crucial step btw- was the key to getting Android 12 on my PA13. So ben, thank you very much. My deadened eyes sparkled when instead of constantly seeing 'stop feeding me this trash', the little balls of processing hope began-a-spinning to indicate that, yes Virginia, put that dang ROM folder in the SP folder. Again, never saw that in any instructions or any god-awful video that some people made to show how it's done, but instead irritate beyond belief because of their insistence of loud techno music as they talk, or babies yelling in the background while - ok I'm stopping. It was stressful to say the least because I knew I was almost there.
ANd to be fair I actually ended up watching (again) that one video that Ulefone condones on YouTube with the silent Asian (?) guy speeds thru the steps using that client sp thingy with the PDF instructions that Ulefone pushes. I tried SP v5.22 and 6.22 for that matter, but they just weren't working for me. Most likely entirely my fault, but I finally went back to square one with what they suggested and I went over that video again and again and finally....it took!
So, Android 12. It's big, had to reduce the display size because everything is Huge. Visually appealing, nice to get an update.
Funny thing is, sorta like benhall, I happened upon Android 12 in Ulefones Google Drive folder(just bored snooping around). But I was like Whoa we got 12¿?¡! Googled for a quick sec, found this thread cause like the man said it hasn't been mentioned or reported about at all it's so new. If you know you know.
Hey man glad I could help!
Yeah I tried that just out of a hunch & it worked for me haha.
Same thing on my end - no tutorials anywhere mention to do that.

I've had mostly Samsung phones before I recently got the Uley. Sammy's are easier to flash with Odin compared to Mediatek's SP tool, all good tho.
Btw I don't know what camera app you prefer using (stock or 3rd party) but for what it's worth after many tries I've settled on SnapCamera version 8.7.8. The stock cam app is ok, still checking out the new goods with A12, but SnapCamera has a ton of flexibility as far as manual camera controls. Panorama resolution sucks compared to stock panorama res but the ton of other abilities makes up for it.

You can use TTSLex to remove the announcement from Google Phone - Call Recording
(it announces to everyone on the phone call that you're recording them when you start recording..)
FIRST -
In Settings > Security > Google Play Protect > Disable google play protect (this makes installing things google doesnt like work better. I've found it doesnt work as good if you have this enabled before beginning these steps)
Steps I used to remove the announcer
1. Open the Google Phone APK inside Google Play - uninstall/downgrade to the stock version of the app.
2. Open Google Phone - Make a phone call (someone has to actually pick up the phone) - record the phone call (it will be announced that the phone call is being recorded)
3. Download TTSLex
4. Set TTSLex as your phone's text to speech.
5. Open the App Info of Google Phone - force stop
6. I forget if this step is correct or not.. - delete storage/cache for Google Phone apk
(if this doesnt work, try again & skip step #6)
7. Update the Google Phone APK before opening it.
8. Make a phone call & record the phone call - enjoy no more announcer <3
Android Auto - Screen2Auto APK for mirroring your screen onto android auto! (movies/tv shows/youtube on car screen)
Steps -
1. Open Android Auto via Google Play store & confirm its downgraded/uninstalled to the stock APK.
2. Download AAAD
GitHub - shmykelsa/AAAD
Contribute to shmykelsa/AAAD development by creating an account on GitHub.
github.com
3. Using AAAD - install Screen2Auto
(they only give you 1 free install per month, ive tested them all on this ROM - Screen2Auto is the best to use.)
4. Update Android Auto & enjoy! <3
Pro tip for Screen2Auto - if you go to Screen2Auto > Other Settings > Alternative touch enabled > Profile 2 (Poco)
This allows you to use the touch screen of your car to control your phone while mirroring your screen.
(pause/play videos from car screen)
I also disable the Screen2Auto > Settings Launcher > S2A Launcher
But you could play with it & enable that if it suits you better than me.
(gives you a launcher page for launching apps from Screen2Auto - customize which apps are shown on the launcher etc..)
Hey all, thank you for the info on Android 12. I'm kind of out of the game with updating, ROMs, and rooting. I've been running stock 11 rooted since I've gotten this phone. I actually backed everything up and tried to update with Android 12 stock rom yesterday. I haven't messed with spflash since I've had my Armor 7. For some reason I cannot get this to work. I'll tried the Linux sp version, but gave up on that quick and grabbed my wife's win notebook. I downloaded all the drivers, latest adb, tried different cords, made sure it's in the same folder but couldn't get it to go. I know it's something very basic but I can't get past the bar on the bottom of spflash being red and then timing out after a minute or 2.
Would someone be kind enough to post an imbecilic like walkthrough for me? I got that itch to mess with it and mediatek is just a pain in the ass. Well hopefully thank you in advance.
Any idea if there is a non eu rom?

They keep their updates on drive so this might get flagged, but here's the link
Non-EU version - Google Drive
drive.google.com
If you go to ulefone's website, go to support, then software downloads, scroll to the power armor 13. The nonEU folder will be in that under the Android 12 folder.

After first watching a few very annoying walk-thru videos on how to flash a Ulefone I eventually went back to the video link they provided and used the SP flash version they advised, and it worked(go figure right?). Granted there's no audio and the guy briskly goes thru it, you just gotta slow that sucker down, hit pause and rewind to fully and correctly grasp what's happening. And as was mentioned above, and I think you got this part, the importance of putting the rom folder in the SP flash folder.
Also make sure you're either using the stock charging/data cable or something very close to it(ie. no cheap stuff). Here's the video Ulefone says to follow and the one that eventually got me to successfully flash Android 12:
