My edge has a 3-5 second pause in performance and temporary locks up about every 6-7 min, it's getting frustrating, i already performed a factory reset and left all apps off to test and its still going on. I have the sprint version unrooted . I don't know what else to do i checked everything. Has anybody else experienced this?
I have been seeing pauses and lockups at times. I haven't noticed it being on a regular six or seven minute interval though.
Idk could be because of sprints so called spark

I'm having a rather specific and odd problem with my captivate(s), three of them to be exact. First I bought the phone, upgrading from an Iphone 3g, and the first day it was great, the second day, in the evening, I noticed that it started this strange rebooting loop. The phone doesn't seem to power off because I don't see the Galaxy S symbol it just merely goes black then comes back and searches for the network, finds it, then a few minutes later goes black again, returns, search for the network, and so on. It keeps doing that over and over again. So I tried a factory reset the next morning just to make sure it wasn't a problem with any apps installed. The same rebooting loop happened. So I called a rep and dropped by the ATT store and they said it might be the sim card, which was very very old (still said cingular) so we swapped it. Same problem the next day. Okay so I went and I replaced the whole phone. The second day with Captivate #2, this rebooting loop occurred again. The reps told me that I might have gotten two bad ones and to exchange it again, so I did. And yet again I have the same problem. So here are some quick facts about the problem that I have learned. Total time span has been about 3 weeks.
-The most important thing to know about this issue is that the only thing that prevents the phone from going into this rebooting loop is if I enable flight mode, no network connectivity. I believe wi-fi is okay but whenever I disconnect from ATT's network it stops rebooting.
-Occurs more frequently at night/evening (only happened once in the morning)
-Is not affected by signal strength, full bars, low bars.
-Is not affected by installed apps (Had done factory resets and with my third captivate all I did was put the sim card in and put it in my pocket)
-Is not affected by battery status, low or full
-Doesn't seem to matter if I have a lot of things running or nothing running, the loop starts when I'm browsing, texting, in a call, or just locked in my pocket.
-Does not seem to be affected by charging source (wall, car, laptop, ps3/xbox)
Another thing to note is that I had an Iphone 3G with an unlimited data plan before this. The Captivate upgrade was done on another line on my family plan then given to me with a 2gb data plan. After talking to multiple reps over the phone, they said they had the wrong IMEI number (I have no idea what that means) but that leads me to wonder what else is wrong and is it a problem with the Captivates or ATT itself?
I really need some feedback because I'm about to just give up on this phone, which is heartbreaking because I fell in love it. My 30 days is approaching and if I am indeed returning it, it'll have to be very soon. What do you guys think?
This has been happening a lot lately. Sometimes I'll look down at my phone and the signal bars will completely drop for a second, and then go back to normal. I am in an area with full-coverage. This happens anywhere I go in Connecticut.
I am rooted, running Das Bamf Remix, the Adrenalyne Kernel 4.4.3, and Jcase's radio combination #2.
Any other settings I should check to diagnose the problem?
This is becoming an issue because people are telling me my phone "goes straight to voicemail" at times. Any help appreciated.
I see this happen when the phone switches between 1x, 3G, and 4G, but haven't noticed it any other times.
Did it happen when you were stock?

No, it was never a problem back then
I seem to be having the problem as well now, again. Its pretty annoying.
Could it have anything to do with underclocking and/or using SetCPU profiles?
EDIT: I haven't noticed it happening since I disabled profiles in SetCPU..
First and final bump. Contrary to my last post, it's still happening.
Anyone else see this phenomenon?
Yes I do all the time. I also notice that sometimes data will stop and then 4g restarts and I'm back to normal. Doesn't matter which kernel.

I have been experiencing problems with this too. My data connection has been on and off today. I'm totally stock right now btw since I just got a replacement.
This happens to me quite a bit. I rooted yesterday but am still stock and it happened before and after root.
I see this happening most when my phone's been sleeping for awhile and I turn on the screen. It'll have 0 service bars the first second the screen is on but then goes right back to where it's supposed to be a second after. Hasn't affected my syncs or push mail.
I came in here just to look if someone had a similar problem
I have been noticing this too, happens when I get home on the outskirt of 4g, but solid 3g. I only show the bars but says I have no signal. usually a reboot fixes it but it is annoying
running bamf stripped 1.7, never had my phone stock long enough to know if it happened then
I don't live in 4g area (thanks raleigh) and I have had this issue since I got the phone launch day
Just wanted to add that the problem consistently happens when I wake the screen. I can see the bars QUICKLY go from full to 0 (on wake). Then after I unlock and wait a second the bars come back.
I've just noticed it today, I thought it had something to do with the new radio. I've had the TB since launch day but just noticed it now...
I picked up the Skyrocket roughly a week ago. Using it the first night I noticed the data had shut off but still showed the "4G" sysmbol next to my bars of service. After toggling airplane mode or power cycling the phone it came back on for roughly 5 minutes, screen powered off, I turned it on and I was back to square one again. I have had to run on Wifi 24/7 unless I do the toggle "trick" to get data working again.
I swapped the phone 3 different times (including trying my sim in a demo phone at my at&t store), 3 new sim cards, and multiple calls to tech support which opened a network ticket for me and found no problems. I also tried the HSPA apn settings and a variety of other APN's to try to resolve the issue.
I have always had a 4g phone and have never had an issue with data connectivity.
I took matters into my own hands and did some research. I ran logcat to check my logs and it appears that every time my screen powers off fast dormancy goes haywire and its polled every 5 seconds or so. The only indication of issues I can find has to be when fast dormancy polls in the log and I then notice that data gets shut off.
I tried the dialer code *#9900# to see if I can disable it, but it doesn't work on the Skyrocket, only the normal Galaxy S2.
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm pretty sure this has something to do with Fast Dormancy but I can't figure out how to manually disable it even with doing numerous searches on the net and XDA. Anyone else having these issues?
Thanks in advance!
Is a known issue. Hopefully we get a fix soon from at&t.

So ever since I received my One X when it first came out, the phone would drop connection in certain areas and then never reconnect. An update has since slightly fixed it, so now it will sometimes reconnect, sometimes get stuck on Edge permanently until rebooting or until toggling airplane mode. I went through 3 phones swapping at the AT&T store before the 30 days were up, but all three did the same thing. My Xperia X10 was perfectly fine.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has had experience with this issue, if replacing their phone fixed it or not (I'm planning on warranty-swapping anyway because of a bright spot on the screen that showed up). I'm worried that for the snowboarding season my phone will give up on an already sketchy network when I need communication with my friends on the mountain.
Does anyone get problems with the data connection hanging? Every hour or two I seem to have to turn data off and back on again to get it to work. When it hangs, only the upload arrow seems to work, and the download arrow does nothing. Also when I turn the data off after it hangs, the data connection seems to take 30 seconds or so to disappear, so I suspect it's crashed. I have had this on a number of android phones over the years, and it's a shame my G Pro 2 is doing the same. The only phone I have ever had that never did it was the iPhone 5s. I have googled it and it appears to be a fairly common problem and some people say it could be the radio stack. I thought about turning the auto mode to 3G only in the mobile networks settings to see if that helps, I'll report back and let you all know.
My LG G Pro 2 display seems to have started flickering every so often and normally when it happens, the screen brightness won't go above 80% and it says it's due to temperature increases. It has been hot in the UK the last few days but as we speak it's around 18 Celsius where I am and it's still doing it. Phone gets warm quickly after not using it for a while, even when I am just lightly browsing the internet with screen brightness set to 30%. It sounds like it's faulty. Anyone had this problem?

Hi,
i had an HTC One X+ with which i faced the exact same issue. Turned out issue with something called fast dormancy. After i rooted and installed a custom rom i had access to disabling it.(sometimes its network enabled as well.) However, It worked. Did not face the same issue on my D838.
Try disabling the Fast dormancy option. Last i checked 5457#*838# gives you a hidden service menu with which you might be able to do so. If you are using a F350 then the code is 5457#*350#. (root not required):good::good::good:

Hey,
That happened to me only once. And i live i India (so I'm sure its much hotter here) So what i suggest is to get your device checked and replaced from the service center. Might have gotten a faulty piece. That might also solve the 3G problem (unless its the network)
Another option is to try and reinstall stock ROM(after a factory reset of course if it works). If its a software issue then it should work.
All the best :good:
