I'm on stock cm11s and vibrate sometime works and sometime not :/ i have this phone from 7th January and it has never vibrate (one time it vibrated on twrp recovery) and so i thought vibrate sensor was broken. But today i have rebooted it and for 4 times it was vibrating That's so strange, i don't know what i should do. For some reason, maybe because it doesn't vibrate, i can't enter recovery with vol up + power button combo but if i reboot from the power menu i can enter in the recovery. Is there a way to fix the vibrate and if possible the recovery? I've tried changing recovery and kernel but nothing, anyway i'm with boeffla kernel and latest twrp recovery installed and i've never changed rom.
Vol down + power
Check your vibration settings for the vibration part

I can boot to recovery from the OS. However, I can't boot to recovery via the 3 button combo.
I hold power and both volume buttons and then it keeps "restarting" looping through the AT&T screen. I then release the power button and hold the 2 volume buttons and it always boots to the OS.
What am I doing wrong. I've tried this a bunch now
Thanks,
JOe K.
P.S. I'm trying to reset the battery stats and I'm running Supernova 2.02b
3 button fix
Hi Joe,
I had this problem too. A lot of captivates have 3 button recovery disabled by default. To be able to use 3 button recovery you'll need to flash this 3buttonfix.zip (also fixes download mode) using clockwork mod or the recovery mod of your choice. Reboot you phone then turn it off and try starting recovery with the buttons.
The fix should stay even if you flash new roms, but if you flash to stock you'll need to reinstall the fix.
You are responsible for what you do to your phone, use at your own risk, etc. etc.
Best of luck,
DStan
Odd, starting today, using Vol. Down and Power On to get into recover mode only works intermittently. Most times, it ignores the vol. down and boots normally.
BUT, I don't think it's an issue with the Vol button itself because it works fine once booted.
Is it possible for the software to be fouled up in a way that would cause this to occur?
Anyone else had this happen?
Not got fast boot still turned on have you?

Can you get into recovery by adb? When in adb just type in "adb reboot recovery" (leave out quotation marks)and that should get you into your recovery. And then you can be more sure that it could be your volume rocker.

Nope, it's off, and the same thing happens if I pull the battery first.

That works fine too, I tried that earlier and had no issues.
The volume rocker works perfect once the phone is booted, it's almost like it's rejecting input from the vol. button until after the boot finishes.
The weird part is maybe 1 out of 5 times it works as you'd expect, then the other 4, it ignores the vol. button.
I just use Quick Boot app free from Market. The volume is to inconsistent for me.
Have you tried other Roms as well?
Did You select "shutdown" in power menu oder "restart" ?
I had the same problem using the stock rom, but only when I used "shutdown". When powering on my Sensation starts up much more quickly (asking to enter the pin after about 5-10s). Looks like shut down is more like suspending...
Try use "reboot" in power menu, wait until the backgrund lights from the soft buttons are going off (if You push vol down earlier the phone will decrease ringtone volume until it starts vibration even if shutdown is already started), press and hold volume down in exact this moment You should get the recovery.
Update: I've tried it now on InserCoin 2.3.0 - same behaviour... Recovery only after removing battery oder using "restart"

I was having the problem even after removing and reinserting the battery.
So far this afternoon, it seems to behaving properly, I don't know what it was doing this morning.
Hi
I have been helping a friend repair their phone after it got water damaged
THe battery has been replaced and the phone boots and can go into Android
I have since Unlocked the bootloader
Installed TWRP
Rooted it
Installed a Cusom Rom
And installed a Custom Kernel with no issue.
So In my eyes this Phone is 100% working
The Problem i am stuck with is that whenever the phone is turned on it goes straight into the Bootloader screen and the Option bit on the top (Start, Recovery, Reboot BootLoader and Power off)
Constantly scrolls through each option as though the volume key is being pressed
if i press the power button as each option appears the phone will boot into the option i have chosen
While in Android all the buttons work correctly.
Vol up and Down and the power either going to sleep or bringing up the power menu.
Any ideas would be a great help
Probably HW related, but not sure

after 3 years did u find any solution. exactly same issue happen today :crying:
Try updating to the latest bootloader. But I assume the buttons get stuck sometimes. Try smacking the buttons s a couple of times. Hope that works.
I flashed francor 58 through the franco updater on top of mahdi rom 6/70. When I got boot loops I reflashed r57 (had previously worked) and when it came up I no longer had working volume rocker and power buttons. If I hold down power the device DOES power off. I tried flashing other roms as well as stock and the problem persists.
I did an e2fsck on data and a factory reset with the google image and I still have the problem. The power button also fails to activate the screen in recovery. But it allows me to select and enter recovery from the bootloader.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you ever find what the problem was? I'm having the same issue.
Help, same here...
I flashed yesterday latest LaboDJ's Linaro (62v2) over an older version and this morning my power and volume buttons aren't responding at all.
I flashed back system.img and boot.img from latest ota.zip but the problem persists.
Buttons are working fine in bootloader...
Did you guys try other kernel? I never heard this problem before. Try to clean flash any rom and see if it solves.
No luck, even flashed the whole L factory image...
as soon as my screen goes off, my only solution to bring it back alive is to keep power pressed 15s and let it reboot. Proof that the button press is somewhat registered in hardware I guess

Holding down the power button for 10-15 seconds is hard-coded to be a battery pull emulation, not affected by ROM nor kernel.
Did you try running the flash-all.bat? (backup to a PC first)
Do sensors work well?
ok, I'm not 100% sure how but got my buttons back
What I last did before they start working again was to boot into bootloader then recovery which was still default (open Robot with red triangle).
I kept volume up while pressing power as I've read on some post (hard reset?) and the phone rebooted to android with both volume and control buttons working.
Did I reset something extra or is it pure coincidence? Guess time will tell
My nexus 5 after some random reboots on latest cataclysm rom started to have a problem that power and volume button were not working at all. I have done everything and even flashed it all back to stock with no luck. The power and volume buttons work perfectly in bootloader mode but dont work in recovery or in the rom. Please help.
Another problem I just found out is that it's not charging and sometimes does not connect with PC.
I solved the issue by first flashing 4.4.4 factory image. The problem was still there so I entered recovery mode and unlike in lollipop's stock recovery, in kitkat's stock recovery the power and volume buttons were working. I then wiped cache and the factory reset and now the power and volume buttons and working perfectly in the os.
