Hey guys..lately I googled for password protected custom recovery. But I found nothing but reminds me to my friend's phone, ntt docomo pxxx(I forgot the model),a lumix phone(panasonic i guess) It's have password protected stock 3e system recovery with 10 digits requested password...Maybe this phone doesn't have bootloader(I tried all methods to get to the bootloader)... This phone have hardware navigation keys(back, home and menu)...
Sorry for my bad English.
PS: The recovery doesn't have apply update on sdcard but only give 3 options
1. Reboot
2. Factory reset
3. Power off
Maybe a professional thief can't find any way to factory reset it...
Are you sure that's a password encrypted recovery? Is the phone encrypted?

No. When I try to factory reset, i just guess the IMEI but no luck? is this Japanese phone?

Boot into recovery by holding power + volume down until boots into bootloader menu and select the factory reset using volume buttons. Unless you are rooted with twrp recovery becareful not to format if you have that.
Im stock - not rooted. When i boot into recovery there is no way to select the last option which is wipe. Ive tried using volume up and volume down and also touching the screen but none work...
Ok, i managed to select wipe data, and then it asked me to confirm my choice by pressing volume up, but then rebooted and all of my data is still there!?

It it go through the process of factory reset, after selecting wipe data it should then go into recovery where you'd see the android and the blue bar at bottom moving. If it forgone that and just rebooted not sure why it should wipe all data at which you set everything back up. Last thing which not sure if this would work in your case is the reset button under the volume buttons. Should be small hole just stick something in there and reset it. Don't think the password would keep it from wiping data in recovery that's what most people do when they for get it, although that usually for the screen lock but either one wouldn't think it mattered.
If i were you, i would unlock and flash custom recovery (TWRP) and then use that to do a factory wipe, can even wipe your internal SD card as well.
Then when you go to sell it, use "Unlocked" as a positive thing since so many people are bricking their tablets trying to unlock and flash custom recovery you can upsell it saying all the hard work is done just dont screw up during the process xD
Problem with that is, Im using a mac and only done stuff like that on my PC. Im out of the country for another year with no access to a PC...
Can anyone sugest any way I can get around this problem with forgetting the parental pin?
How can i use a mac to instal a custom recovery and then wipe?
Would the reset button wipe the tablet, i cant seem to find the button...

would unlocking the bootloader ( which wipes the device) do it ?
Did you try contacting Motorola?
I read that the stock recovery is messed up. If you want to factory reset then chose the option above, ie the text you see in the menu does not align with the actual option that will be chosen.

thanks for reply guys,
I dont want to unlock the bootloader as it voids the warranty.
I contacted Motorola, but no reply.
Is there any other way to factory reset this device?
BTW Happy New Year to all
Did you read my post just above yours? You use the stock recovery, just highlight the option ABOVE the option you actually want within the recovery.
cheers mate!

Do you need Android Device Manager on the phone itself to work?
Sorry for this n00bie question, but is there any way how to temporarily disable the Recovery?
Cause anyone can access the recovery from boot and can reset your phone and everything..
So in case that your phone was stolen, they can just reset your phone (if they knew) when they don't know your lock screen password or whatever...

There were some attemps for pin protecting the recovery BUT there is NO way at all as on nearly every phone you can easily replace the recovery using a computer. IF you wan't to secure your phone, please use the android encryption.

Hello,
I'm sorry if this question is redundant, but if haven't found (to my own suprise) a satisfying answer anywhere.
I have encrypted my SD card on my Cyrus CS 28, Stock-Android 6.0, unrooted.
After the installation of a new launcher from F-Droid, the touchscreen is not reacting most of the time; even when, I am not even able to unlock the phone. So I would like to factory reset. The Recovery Mode is perfectly accessible and working.
The question is: Is there a way to recover the keys for the SD-card encryption and reinstall them after the factory reset? For example, via the 'Backup user data' option in the recovery mode? The device has still warranty, but I'm afraid people in the support might just reset the phone on the go and wiping the keys.
Thank you very much,
kind regards

Whats the point of recovering the keys? Safe your stuff, reset the phone and encrypt it again...
did you find out how to back them up ?
So, I have a really really odd situation. I have an MDM on my phone, MASS360. I typed in the phone's password wrong too many times, and it locked me out of the phone. The phone says to reach out to the IT Department to fix it. I reached out to the IT Department, but they weren't able to fix it. So I have a bit of a conundrum. OEM Unlock is off, and so is USB debugging. I cant unlock the phone to turn them on. I also can't factory reset (even from the recovery menu) because of the MDM's policy. Is there a way to Sideload a file or something to factory reset the phone? Any other ways that I can factory reset the phone? I'd also be fine with installing another ROM on the phone if its possible.

Thanks so much! I didn't realize you could flash stock firmware without OEM unlock.

you bet! Welcome to XDA btw!
I have almost exactly the same issue. I was tinkering with MDM 'force PIN' and then stupidly removed the device (Samsung SM -T505) from MDM (Scalefusion) before disabling the PIN lock. Now the PIN is not recognised, I can't get into the the home screen at all because of the PIN, the recovery menu is missing wipe data/factory reset and (of course) USB debugging is NOT enabled. If I try to flash a stock ROM, ODIN reports 'SetupConnection..' but eventually times out without sending anything. ADB devices list is empty. However, I can get into ADB sideload from the recovery menu and ADB devices (on the PC) then shows a device in sideload mode. I tried loading the Samsung stock ZIP, but the tablet reported signing errors and quit.
Is it possible to sideload a stock rom? Or a 'force factory reset' zip file of some sort? Or perhaps from SD card?Choosing the bootloader menu shows 'Fasboot Mode' in red with device state - locked (also in red.
I m not trying to crack an ebay cheepy or anything else (I have the receipt to prove purchase), but I REALLY need to get back into this darned thing! I suppose at least one can say that the Knox system works well!.
Any offerings, please?!!
