[Q] CIFS support to trasform SL to a torrent client - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Hi all
After some time i switched to nexus 5 and my sl is gaining dust..
I want to make it a torrent client, but I need space. as I understand it's impossible for the SL to support otg, so I've started to look for CIFS support ( the ability to mount SMB shares as local, in order to permit torrent apps to write directly on lan disks).
I didn't find anything stable enough ( some kernel with cifs support break the wifi, pretty useless)
It's anyone interested in this thing? I don't know how, but is i understand the only thing to do is to compile a module, CIFS.KO for the kernel in use on a rom, then use a simple app called Mount Manager , or CIFSManager to mount that disk.. so:
Can anyone compile cifs.ko for any rom with 3.0 kernel? I'll use that rom even if it's cm11, 10 ,9 ecc..

Help with CIFS mounting

Hey,
I am trying to mount CIFS and NFS shares from my G1 but with no success.
Right now I have JF-RC33 1.41 and I am trying to do the mounting with a guid I found on Android Community forum.
http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f28/browse-your-computer-from-android-9292/
I successded doing it with RC30 but for some reason I can't mount my shares again in RC33.
When I am trying to run the command
busybox insmod cifs
It returns an error saying that it can't find the cifs module.
Does anyone can help me fix this, since there is a nice application gscript it can be really easier now to mount remote shares.
Thanks,

Mounting Samba Share Anonymous via CIFS Manager

Hi,
Have looked around and cannot find a solution to the following.
I've setup my main NAS using anonymous or guest access to everything no user or pass required etc.
I'm attempting to mount in CIFS manager and others but no luck says mounts but when i try and open nothing. Basically it should just be 192.168.0.10/public and straight there.
I've tried CIFS with the "guest" username and no luck using file expert and anonymous access i can see the share but i really want to mount it...I know CIFS is working as i've used it to mount my downloading NAS fine....
Any ideas?

[Q] Network shares with Cifs on S3 mini GT-I8190 will not work

Hi @ all,
sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but as a new user I can not post a reply in a current discussion, where my problem belongs to.
Device: S3 mini (GT-I8190) with Version XXAMG4 and Kernel 3.0.31.1332988.
Device was flashed with openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0
Device is rooted with Super-SU1.3
BusyBox is installed
I try to connect to a windows share over two diffrent apps:
CifsManager v1.5
MountManager
target host is in same WLAN and - yes WLAN is on and operates fine ..
share works on my other windows and on my ubuntu without problems.
I have tried several mount methods and diffrent cifs.ko files to get a connection, but it don't work.
I always get message: No such device
Where can i get the right cifs.ko file for my phone? I've searched lot of sites, but for my kernel there
is nothing. Or do you have any other hint for me, why it would not connect?
Thanks a lot to all!
Chris

I have not rooted (yet) but when I run a 'cat /proc/filesystems' I do not see any form of cifs in there. Can anyone confirm if there is any means of cifs support to access network shares?

Click to collapse
I'm rooted and use ES Explorer to browse shares on my Lan.
Don't know if it's useful for you or if you want to use native commands ...

SMB Shares (Lollipop)

Has anyone been able to mount SMB shares under Lollipop using CIFSManager or something similar? I want to mount a SMB share as a local folder so all applications can access it. If you've been able to do this please share how.
First step is to install a kernel that supports it. Stock kernel does not. Check the development section for a cifs enabled kernel.
Mounting the share will likely be a bigger challenge, though I cold be mistaken.
