Hello,
I have a question for the pros? I'm currently running a gt-n8013 (us base) with Gnabo V8 flashed on it. My current problem is the unit will not charge while shutdown, it simply reboots and won't stay shutdown. Which isn't a huge issue until recently the system seems to lose charge even while plugged in.
I've researched it down and consensus seems to be to update to a kk bootloader. My question is which bootloader file do I use. I believe the old bootloader to install the rom was found in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2770009 but I'm not sure which file I should flash.
Any help greatly appreciated.
thanks
Easiest way:
Backup.
Flash a stock KitKat rom for your device. (Available at http://www.sammobile.com/
)
Reflash GNABO.
See one of my past posts for details.

N8013 doesn't have official kk so that is not an option for us using this model. As for the OP, I've stayed on v7 of gnabo and haven't had any problems. Using the leaked bootloader posted in his thread.

Currently my phone is on 4.1.2 bonestock ROM with [VRBMF1] and I believe the bootloader is unlocked. I've been out of the loop for so long that I dont know what the best way to get to 4.3 is while keeping my root and bootloader unlocked. Any help is appreciated!

First, a caveat: Android 4.4 was just released for our phones a couple days ago, so you may want to wait a little while and see if any ROMs based on it come out. As of right now, there isn't a rooted version available, so 4.3 is your only option.
If you're on Bonestock, your bootloader is in fact unlocked. You can flash any of the 4.3 ROMs you find in the Android Development section. You should update your recovery first, I use TWRP version 2.6.3.0, the newest version is 2.7.1.0.
You should also flash the newer modem for the phone, VRUCML1, first, you can find that here under the Modems folder: http://d-h.st/users/invisiblek/?fld_id=35604#files. Only do that if you are actually going to update to a 4.3 ROM. Then you can flash any ROM you like: CleanROM 8.2 would be my pick, there's also Alliance and MOAR.

Thank bud, this is exactly what I needed!
Thank you guys in advance for your help but I just had a few questions. I am running 4.4.2 currently with the stock rom rooted and unlocked bootloader. I have however issued a few Mods such as extreme power saving and built in tether. Can I just load the 4.4.4 firmware and radios, switch back to stock recovery and take the OTA to 4.4.4 without having to wipe anything or since I have used some mods do I now have to wipe my device and put everything back after getting the 4.4.4 update. The reason I ask is I like having the stock features while just using google now launcher on top of sense. Also would any of you have a recommendation on a ROM to achieve this same thing so I dont have to go through this everytime I want to take the newest OTA if it is not possible to take without wiping.

Flash the ruu here. That will get you to 4.4.3 the easy way and make you 100% stock so you can take the ruu. Then flash twrp and flash su or the rooted Rom of your choosing.
The RUU is one way to go, although I would never update via OTA...
Another would be to flash the firmware and radios from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723159
And then Scott's rooted stock rom from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2914922
He usually has them up a few hours after a new OTA has been released. Even better - try his stock, debloated CleanROM once it's out.
This way you can keep your recovery. You can even try to just flash the 4.4.4 firmware and radios and see if it runs your current 4.2 ROM ok. But I would not update the rom from version to version without a wipe.
The setup is the price to pay for getting a new and hopefully better Android version.
I'm gave my daughter my old S3 for Christmas and I want to get it up to date.
It's running a Clean 4.1.2 ROM from back in the day. TWRP is like on v 1.x (I kid you not). I think the bootloader is unlocked because there is no Safestrap. It goes right into TWRP, no "slots".
I want to get her up to 4.3 at least, 4.4 hopefully. I tried to download on of the new ROMs but TWRP didn't even see it so I'm suspecting I need to upgrade TWRP first?
anywho...looking for a path to the latest ROMS...would rather not lockup the bootloader unless someone can make a good case for it.
Thank you very much in advance.
God Bless,
Matt

Yes you need to update twrp to the latest version. And your bootloader almost has to be unlocked because if it wasn't you would not be able to install a custom recovery.
I would go with a custom rom, stay away from bootloader locked roms. There's nothing special about the new TW 4.4.2 rom other than it locks the bootloader down tight, as far as roms that's your own choice but I'd do some reading before I did anything
From my S3 running BlissStalk
You can grab the latest twrp here http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/d2vzw
Both .tar and .img files, the .tar requires Odin and you can install the .img through an app called flashify (requires root), its in the play store. After that read some of the ROM threads. You might want to also update your firmware and baseband. Most of the ROM threads will recommend this and give you links to proper firmware, making sure not to lock the bootloader.
Good luck

Nevermind this post, this was intended for another thread
From my S3 running BlissStalk
Hi all
I have a verizon one m8 which runs stock 4.4.2 it is rooted, s-offed by sunshine and has TWRP recovery.
The LTE bands are open but when there is an available LTE network there are some network problems and many disconnections occur. (mainly when entering the LTE area)
I tried some various fixes but nothing worked so I want to update to a customized lollipop firmware.
I did search a -lot but didn't find what are the steps to update.
Can anyone guide or direct me please?
Huge Thanks
Parnuk
If you are just looking to update the firmware here is a link for you. If I were you I would consider a newer ROM to go along with the new firmware.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723159
thanks!
Some more questions please :
Can my current Rom run with this newer firmware?
Will it still be rooted?
What are the chances to get bricked
To get a newer Rom, should I wipe and then install it from twrp after the firmware update?
last one: this all has nothing to do with the recovery, right?
Sorry for the nooobity, it's all so different comparing to my old SGS

Also, hit the link in my signature for more details.
Great, the latest twrp didn't work on my current firmware.
I have an older one, can I update it after the rom?

You can but the chances of something going wrong are higher. Flash TWRP with fastboot, then firmware with fastboot, then ROM with TWRP is your best bet.
If someone wants to try Full Official Nougat firmware on Lenovo P2 - Here is the link to download and also follow the guide on How to install android 7.0 nougat firmware.
Also for Marshmallow Click here
Feel free to contact me in case if this rom link is already specified in XDA somewhere.
anyone know if its safe to flash this straight over the stock Three UK rom (still no update) or should i flash the ROW MM build first?

I was initially on 3's S056_UK firmware. Then I flashed S062_ROW over it, no issues so far. I think flashing the S232 over the S062 won't lead to any problems as well. I suggest first to move to S062 as there is no OTA for S056 to S232. Then flash the OTA. Of course you can also do a clean Nougat install if you wish. This is if you go for the twrp version which I prefer.
The link in this thread is for the fastboot version, so you can full wipe your current rom and install this perfectly fine.
The zip on that site is taken from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p2/development/7-0-lenovo-p2a42-stock-nougat-update-t3581517
Even the first method is wrong because this zip is for recovery.Method 2 is correct.
Can someone provide me with a twrp restore file? I tried to flash the stock rom but the bat file that came with it tampered with some files and I can't even boot into the stock rom
