[Q] Need help recovering my broken motorola B860 and turn it into a headtracker - General Questions and Answers

here's the story:
after finding out about Opentrack, a program that allows me to turn my android phone into a headtracking device to play games with, i remembered i had an old motorola atrix that was half broken in a drawer somewhere and thought, maybe if i could revive it i can actually make it into a permanent headtracking device and glue it to some headphones or something.
after charging it up and booting, i discovered there was no way i was going to make it work, the screen is half shattered and the touch only works in some parts of the screen, and motorola's moto blur was making me sign in before i could do anything, and since the touchscreen isnt working on the third row of keys, typing ".com" at the end of any e-mail is impossible.
i've tried a few things:
tried using a usb on-the-go adapter to connect a mouse or keyboard, didnt work, and i did find the old dock the phone came with, which has 3 usb ports at the back, but i didnt find the power cable that came with it, so that didnt work either.
so before i chuck this thing in the garbage, is there any way to bypass this motoblur thing? maybe connecting it to a PC and controling it from there? installing a different ROM on it? i only need it to run the opentrack apk and be connected to my wifi.
i took a few pictures of it but i guess i cant post them.

PC does not recognise TILT anymore via USB

Interesting little problem I discovered when trying to reflash with Dutty's latest ROM.
- I connect via USB and I do not get the standard USB 'ding' noise when I plug in.
- I checked system hardware properties, all of my USB drivers are working and no yellow flags.
- Active SYNC is configured just as it was when I first synced my phone a month ago to my PC
- I hard reset my tilt a few times with no solution.
I tried a few different computers and they all displayed the above problem.
The TILT charges fine when connected to my PC so I know its not a hardware issue...I did notice that the active sync icon under my connection manager was constantly grayed out and even after enabling it remained gray, its been a while since i synced with my PC and I do not remember if it only turns green only in the process of syncing or not...
Im pretty stumped on this one any ideas?
Settings >>> Connections >>> USB to PC >>> Deselect check box for Enable advanced network functionality
This sounds strange, but do you have multiple network cards in your computer? If I disable my primary network connection and enable the dirty connection my tilt wont connect to ActiveSync and the icon goes gray. As soon as I switch back it works again. It had me stumped for the longest time.
Could be related, maybe not.
check your Firewall Settings.. (if you have one). If you do, then i recommend that you delete the entry for activeysync, rapimgr.exe and add the rule.. i get this once in a while
man... turned out to be the USB port on the phone, everything looks normal but upon further inspection it appeared that the 3rd pin was slightly bent towards the back of the connector. It was a major pain in the butt gently bending it back without damaging the connector... what a headache!!
How did it get bent in the first place??? Thats the question
Many thanks for the tip. I had the same problem with my TyTN (charged over cable, synced only when using a 3rd party cradle) even though I took pretty good care of it. It was bent in the same direction as the other similar threads suggest, but the only thing that helped me was bending backwards the 3rd pin. It's a shame that I damaged the connector in process, but that's better than not being able to properly sync the bloody expensive device that already cant play video and lags in camera/menus
I always thought iPaq's were badly engineered with 2210's falling apart but is seems that HTC outperformed them here. At least HP didnt try to save a few cents on the sync/charge port. Way to go HTC.

Touch pro usb doesn't work? (not the syncing)

Well for a while I thought my usb just died on my phone. I thought it got wrecked by physical damage like a power surge coming through mah pc when booting up and such...
But I just thought, well what the heck, and I flashed an old htc stock rom.
Now when I connected my phone to the pc, my touch pro gave me the 3 option screen.
activesync,sd,internet
But the pc did not detect any new hardware .
So I sadly flashed back to my energy rom. But al of the sudden when I wanted to connect my touchpro to the pc for charging, it asked me what to do (3 option scnreen), and the also detected my touch pro (well now my touchpro, it just saw something got connected).
So my pc tried ti install the drivers, it said it installed pockec sync usb something. But device center didn't notice any phone.
So I thought, too bad, but whne I disconnected the phone I heard a sound when disconnecting usb hardware.
Now the pc doesn't detect my touch pro when plugging in.
But this is proof it isn't physical damage (atleast I think).
Cause of the usb failure.
I was flashing a couple of months ago, when it suddenly started to stop at the middle. (each time it was another point so no damaged rom).
so I was able to flash it form my pc that time, but the times after that I had to flash from sd. Also when I tried to connect my phone, the pc lost connection with the phone after 40 secs.
Does someone know what to do? Please help me, usb is kinda important .
Btw, I have got this problem at every pc, also with every cable.
And now windows keeps saying an unkown device connected.
And shortly after windows detected my phone it undetects its.
(i hear two beeps in a row)
Yes I have disabled fast usb to pc
I forgat to mention that my pc doesnt reconize the device,
and with this rom my touchpro doesn't know it is connected
(It doesnt want to sync or anything), doesnt see it got plugged in.
Is there n1 here wich knows the solution??!
This problem is caused by damaged mini usb port on your device.
Actually this this new mini usb with 11 pin used in Touch Pro in & many other HTC device has a very delicate & thin plastic piece in middle. Quite visible from outside, this acts both as separator for the 2 layered pins of mini usb & base for connectors when u insert a usb to connect a pc or the audio cord.
This small plastic separator gets cracked if you do not handle usb connections properly.
Now here is the solution -
1.Remove battery
2.Look into mini usb port on device, see if there is a crack in between
3.If yes take a fine needle just press the cracked part so that the whole piece gets leveled.
4. Then you can put a small drop of quick drying fixer at the outer tip of this plastic part, take care it doesn't go inside otherwise it will create a layer on connecting plates.
Hope it helps you.

[Q] How to control phone via ADB/OTG Mouse (my touchscreen died)

My touchscreen just crapped out on me a couple weeks back. I've bought a new phone and was able to retrieve all my documents/pictures from my One XL as it functions perfectly in all other aspects other than the touchscreen.
I was hoping to turn this into just a not so portable PMP having it permanently sit in the dock so I can watch movies and youtube while on my PC and control the phone via the usb port with my mouse. I tried my OTG cable with a usb mouse but that doesn't seem to work.
I also tried android screencast which while it mirrors the device's screen onto the PC doesn't actually grant any control over the device.
I was wondering if you guys knew of a way I can bypass my lockscreen via using the ADB as that's the first hurdle I need to get through.

S7 Screen Dead, Phone on - How do I access it for backup?

So my new S7 's screen is completely dead. I can see the soft buttons light up and I've been trying to swipe but I can't. I was going to try to screen mirror to my Fire TV (by looking at a vid and hopefully hitting the right places to get it to connect) but the screen isn't passing any input.
So my next thought was to get a USB OTG cable and a mouse, although I have no idea how fast the pointer will move making guess the steps to connect really hard. I was also looking at chrome extension Vysor, but again, it need debugging enabled (which isn't) on the phone for it to work. Apparently sammy discontinued MHL support so there's no way to just plug in to in a TV with a cable,
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can force access on the phone to get a backup? Again, I need something that will let me see the screen, preferably in as little steps as possible (the more menus I have to navigate, the less likely I'll be able to blindly fumble my way through)
Thanks!
Anyone?````
same situation here, not much resources out there. Is your phone still connected to your wifi? mine is not so I can't get google play to install apps to it.
If you can though...
Samsung SideSync was recommended on another forum, similar to vysor but might work wirelessly for you
Good luck, and please let me know if you find a solution. I might by vysor to try wireless (they haven't answered me whether or not wireless version by passes the need for usb debugging)

If it's turning on (except by the screen) you can use Smart Switch or Kies to recover your data.

OR You can use FIND MY MOBILE if you registered a Samsung account to unlock remotely and use USB.

Pulling data with a dead screen (replace attempted) and number lock

The screen on my Motorola Droid Ultra broke (no visual, no touch that I can figure). It has a numeric lock screen (I know the code still) and although I have a computer that has connected to it previously, without unlocking it it will not show up in My Computer.
My primary goal is to be able to pull out Color Note memos and browser tabs/bookmarks for two or three browsers. Having it working would be neat but not required.
I envision this being done by fixing the phone (new screen) or some program that can have my computer serve as screen and input for the hardware.
USB debugging is off - probably because it broke Pokemon Go. SIM removed and disabled (been working on this off-and-on for over a year, at this point I am just stubborn and wanting to learn).
I tried replacing the screen, or rather, pulling out of board and putting it into a different Droid Ultra (same phone, different screen/digitizer and case). It did not work. I opened it up and tried reconnecting, still nothing. When plugged in as one does to charge it intermittently vibrates, which according to the internet seems to mean there is no screen connected. There is.
I have a pigtail USB, microUSB male, micro usb female, and with all that plugged in to the phone, computer (via charger/phone cord), and a keyboard the keyboard does not light up (capslock, num lock) but the phone starts the occasional buzzing for (what I assume is) the screen "unplugged". Not entirely sure how to know is phone is on or off, or if it will turn on at all with the screen "not connected" as it seems to think.
I so want to just be able to pull out the keyboard and plug it in like I can do with real computers. >.<
Any Ideas?
use a OTG cable and connect a mouse, it works!
look for screen mirroring software, to share data with your pc.
