Hey I hate having to post this but im stumped. i was running cm7 nightly build 21 and wanted to flash back to stock pd15img. i followed the steps but when i went to update all it did was turn s on. now my mytouch gets to the animated MY logo and loops. i can still get to recovery and i have tried restore my backup but i still get the MY animated boot logo. any help or suggestions? thanks.
Did you revert your recovery back to stock or Clockwork 2.x instead of Clockwork 3.x that CM7 requires?

Yep. 2.5.1.2.. I even tried just flashing icedglacier but i still get the animated MYlogo wich continues to loop.
does the phone have to be rooted to fix this? It was prior to flashing the PD15IMG, but like i said when it was done loading the image i clicked update and it just turned s on....
okay so i just made some progress i think. i just flashed icedglacier again and this time it changed the boot logo to the icedglacier boot logo but it still loops.
on the bright side of things i was really tire of seeing the mytouch logo.

the PD15IMG is a HBoot flashed image. not via Clockwork's Recovery Manager.
What method did you follow to try and unroot your phone.
We kinda need to know what you did in order to fix it.
If you store the PD15IMG onto the root of the SD card and boot into bootloader it should automatically restore everything to a factory spec.
I unrooted my device by downloading the unroot folder and using visionary and the terminl emulator.
I didnt try to flash pd15img through clockworkmod i just put it on the root of my sd card and let the hboot do the rest once it loaded the image it gave me he update option i chose to update and when my phone came back on in hboot i saw s off and now im stuck in boot loop.
I have to get to work but if you think of anything that could help me out trhat would be awesome thanks guys for reading this in the first place
ps now if i try to load the pd15img it will load the image but there is no update opyion

Try doing this. Esp. if you did the ./gfree deal.

I also made this mistake, I had to reflash a cm7 rom or miui, downgrade the recovery to 2.5.x (could also adb push) and from there went back to stock and rerooted and flashed ice glacier.
well im downloading sdk now. my internet is super slow.

Being that you have s=on it's going to be fairly difficult. [sidenote] i still cannot believe the PD15IMG didn't work for you [/sidenote]. but you can try and use the fastboot commands. If s=off you could load a separate recovery image and flash a ROM to get you up and running.
yeah, i knew this would happen to me. when i try to adb in it dosent show my device. i have a thing with best buy where they will mail it in to htc to have it fixed but im not sure since i modded the phone.

Ok, that means fastboot has detected your phone. You can flash individual system.img, recovery.img, etc directly from fastboot.
so what do i flash? what commands do i need to use.

Make sure you are not plugged into your pc when you boot to recovery! - if that doesn't solve it ..
Does the phone boot to the existing Rom, do you have Rom manager installed? - if so update the recovery from Rom Manager. I found that after rooting the One S using the toolkit I could not get in to recovery, the update from Rom Manager sorted it!
All the best :good:

Had same issue with the tool kit, the cwm didnt stick. The Touch work one did stick and I was able to get into recovery. However I downloaded the app ROM MANAGER and flashed the recovery from there. Since then I've had no issues booting into reocvery or bootloader. Just download rom manager and go about it that way!

Which recoveries have you tried, and what version of phone do you have (S3 or S4). These must match.
Make sure you bootloader unlocked OK, check in bootloader screen, should say Unlocked.
The problem youre describing sound like when you try to boot after successfully flashing a ROM but forgot to or the kernel failed to flash with it. Only happens when ROM and kernel are mismatched enough that it wont boot, fex flashing CM9 and still on HTC original kernel. Try flashing the kernel from the ROM zip file with
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
You can also try booting a recovery without installing it,
Code:
fastboot boot nameofrecoveryfile.img

If you have working ADB and fastboot working (there is a sticky by user fibsib that explains this) you can make sure your phone isnt really just trying to boot the OS and failing rather than trying to enter recovery with the command
Code:
adb reboot recovery
But anyways figure out which version you have before doing anything more, flash the wrong stuff and you could break stuff. There are good info here as to how to see if you have the Ville=Z520e=S4 processor model or the Ville C2/Z560e/S3 processor model.
Then download a recovery for your phone model and install it with this command from your computer
Code:
fastboot flash recovery nameofrecoveryyoudownloaded.img
Should work.
have you actually flashed a recovery yet?
which one and how did you do it?
Make sure you have your phone updated to the latest software version before you root. Download system update OTA and click update.
Otherwise you will have issues.
I am rooted T-Mobile phone with original software 1.54 and still can not do recovery or update, it is probably me but it is difficult.
If you are in the US, make sure you use the US version in the development section after you upgrade your phone. Update then try to root it might be easier.
How do I convert from CWM to TWRP properly?
I searched around and it seems that I should just be able to use goomanager and install open recovery script. I do that, I see it download TWRP and then it says recovery installed, but when I reboot recovery, it still takes me to CWM.
If I go into ROM Manager, it looks like both recoveries are installed and then clicked to use TWRP and it still booted in CWM.
Then I used ROM Installer to install TWRP and now it reboots into TWRP when I reboot into recovery.
But, when I go into ROM Manager, it still says that CWM is installed. Do I need to get rid of that? If so, how?
I would try this. Odin to CWM, uninstall ROM Manager, and then use Goomanager to update to TWRP.

Not exactly sure what Odin to CWM means. Odin is software on my PC? Will that be destructive in any way? Right now, it does all seem like it's working fine except that ROM Manager sees CWM there too.
Any other ideas?

Download your recovery .img of choice.

This afternoon I applied OTA 3.1 to my Shield Tablet, and reinstalled CWM and flashed supersu. My tablet booted correctly but I don't have root. If I open the SuperSU app, I get "there is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!" anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks
I also just noticed that CWM is not there now. It was there when I flashed it with fast boot, but now it disappeared from which I don't understand. Also just to clarify, SuperSU installed as a system app from the zip, I didn't download it from the play store.
Reflash recovery via fastboot, boot into CWM then reflash latest SuperSU in CWM.

I'm having the same problem.
Im also with the same problem, on 3.0 i used kingroot, but with 3.1 doesnt work also.
Not sure how it works with cwm, not sure if there's a fine manager. But in twrp try mounting system, go in to advanced>file manager and go to the folder 'system' and rename the file 'recovery-from-boot.p' to 'recovery-from-boot.bak' or something else, and flash cwm or twrp again. Then flash your super user again.
King root 4.5 works to root easily
Got it rooted again
I finally got it rooted again.
1) Put supersu.zip on to sd card.
2) Flashed TWRP with ADB fastboot.
3) Rebooted into recovery.
4) Flashed supersu.zip from the sd card.
5) Rebooted
After that it was finally rooted again. Hope this helps anybody else who has this problem.
Unfortunately though since I got my tablet when it first came out I have a recalled one. This will be my 4th RMA. LOL

Thanks I'll try that as soon as I can. In CWM there's no file manager but you can use an adb shell. I'm just a little nervous disabling a file named recover from bootloop. After i root do i re-enable it?
EDIT: This worked and now CWM sticks, but i still get the SU binary not installed error.

No. It restores stock recovery on first reboot.
Kingroot worked for me guys
What I don't understand is how the zip can install the SuperSU app as a system app, but not install the SU binary. Is it possible to manually copy the Su binary to my device? I have root access in recovery mode.
Dose anyone have any idea why this happens?
It works now with the new version of supersu

It dose say for 2.0, but it should work on everything. This is the "real" way, other methods are hacks that work only on certain versions. I prefer this method, it gives you the most insurance against damage, but you could always just use kingo root. Also, versions 2.x and 3.x are both lollipop.

Just out of curiosity, doesn't fastboot boot (image of recovery) just boot into the recovery and not flash it?
From previous experience, to reflash recovery you need something like flash_image or a way to write the image on the recovery partition... Correct me if I'm wrong...
My v10 downloaded an OTA , which im assuming is 6.0
1. Im rooted on stock 6.0 and unlocked boot loader. Will the OTA work without messing up anything ? Ill have to root again im sure, just want some info before i pull the trigger.
I don't think the update will even proceed being that you're on a rooted ROM. I have that notification too, and i just don't know how to turn it off.
I to am rooted, unlockboot and stock rom. I don't feel like taking a chance. So I used titanium backup to freeze the software update and in the drop down notification if you press it, it's a notification from Google play services if you block it in apps it will disappear from your drop down. I also deleted the update zip in the cache folder.I used es file explorer ,device/cache/update

Okay, I'm assuming you are on H90120e (system version). There is a root exploit for the H90120j update. You just do the following:
Make a backup of your apps and settings
Flash your phone to the new update (H90120j)?
Take a look at either one of these threads to root your device again:

You can't flash the phone that is already rooted and has TWRP.
I am in this same situation. On stock rom with root and twrp. I want to update to the new update, but do not want to loose all my apps, settings, etc.
Question is, how to do the initial update before having to re-root again?
How do we flash the phone with the new update?

Why can't you flash the phone that is already rooted and has TWRP?
All you are doing is opening the LGUP tool and flashing the new H90120j .kdz file using the "refurbish" option then flashing the H90120j .tot file that has TWRP using the "update" option which will flash the phone regardless of what is running on your phone. The guides on the first link explain that. I believe your concern is keeping all of your settings and apps. Look up Titanium backup, it works for me.
Thank you. I only flash the LGH901AT-01-V20j-310-260-JUL-12-2016-ARB02+0ROOTTWRP tot file and all is good.
Well except that I lost Dolby audio.
I will look for a fix.

There's a guide in general that tells how to do all this. In fact jun19inf WROTE it.
In a nutshell, do a twrp backup.
Upgrade to 20j by flashing the stock 20j kbz.
Enable usb debugging and oem unlock
flash tot that has twrp in it.
Now you can go into twrp and 1) root via supersu 2) restore ONLY data from your twrp backup taken previously to get your apps etc back. Alternatively Titanium Backup will also do just fine.

If all is you have is root, you should be able to unroot in the SuperSU settings, and then let the update install. But if you have TWRP, then I can't see any way to do the update without using a PC to flash your phone back to stock ROM and recovery. Although you may check the dev. section to see if Eliminator has a flashable ROM to bring you up to date.

Hi all. I just got my factory warranty back and I attempted to root it. Everything went as it should, until just after the install finished. Instead of rebooting normally, it now will only reboot into TWRP. Once there, when I try to flash a custom ROM (in this case, Bliss, but I don't think it matters, I get an error message that says the zip file is corrupt. Then, while still in recovery, when I tried to wipe everything except the sd card, it says mkfs.fat process ended with error. I then powered down and attempted the factory reset. I scrolled down on both screens and it did not say anything about any errors, so I assumed it took. However, it reboots right back into TWRP recovery. It also boots right to TWRP recovery when I try to boot normally. Of course, adb does not recognize the phone in any mode that I can get into (fastboot/recovery/download), so, I can't use LG Bridge to reflash the original firmware. Does anybody have any ideas for a fix? I know that this replacement phone had 6.0 on it. I thought I did everything to a t? TIA...
OK, not sure how I got there, but when I attempt to reboot from TWRP it says No OS Installed! Are you sure you want to reboot? That at least says what the problem is. Does anybody know how to fix this?
Where can I download the update file?

It also boots right to TWRP recovery when I try to boot normally. Of course, adb does not recognize the phone in any mode that I can get into (fastboot/recovery/download), so, I can't use LG Bridge to reflash the original firmware. Does anybody have any ideas for a fix? I know that this replacement phone had 6.0 on it. I thought I did everything to a t? TIA...
OK, not sure how I got there, but when I attempt to reboot from TWRP it says No OS Installed! Are you sure you want to reboot? That at least says what the problem is. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Did you select refurbish or upgrade?
I believe you need to select upgrade when flashing or you get stuck in TWRP

How to root V10 T-mobile M.M ver V20L
How to root V10 T-mobile M.M ver V20L
Can some one guide me on the following:
1. Can I flash back and downgrade to Software version V20J from V20L.
2. Is there any root method for V10 t-mobile MM ver V20L.
1. It is well explained in this forum, you CANNOT go back without facing a software brick.
2. You can root your phone through Dirty_Cow method or by flash Eliminater74 ROM (Part1 & Part2).
Again, search for that in this section and in development one...
