no os installed and cant get into recovery - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

please bear with me!
i had by mistake wiped internal storage on my phone along-with system, cache, etc and then it showed me that no os installed...i switched off me phone...went into bootloader and went into recovery...its showing me teamwin screen and then it automatically reboots and im stuck on the bootloop (not exactly bootloop but it gets stuck on the screen where googe is written followed by a unlocked icon, before the animation starts)...theres no way that i know off to get into my recovery... im connecting my phone to my pc but its not reading my device...soooooo i think my phone is bricked and i would like some help.
i have read a few threads but they were about soft bricking where ppl did have access to their recovery...not me...also searched on google...came across a site which told me that if recovery is not accessible pls contact xda for more help...so pls help me

U sound like you're flapping for nothing and just haven't been reading the right threads. U don't want recovery. You want to be in the bootloader. Then look for @rootSU 's thread on fastboot

If you can get into the bootloader, you can flash a factory image and return to stock.

Have you tried flashing Recovery through Fastboot? If you are not able to then I guess, the only choice you have is to try to use an factory image as the previous post mentions.

[Q] Please help unbrick???!!!!

Here is what I did....
HTC One X (ATT). Unlocked and rooted yesterday. (TWRP)
Today tried to install CM10 and GApps, got stuck on CM bootscreen, then I flashed the boot.img and it still did not work....then my immediate next step (probably stupidly) was to flash modded boot...still did not work....I just got to HTC screen with the red writing on the bottom and nothing else....
So I got into TWRP and restored to my backup (which I was able to do before the above) and just got to the same HTC screen with red type on the bottom......now I started to panic.
I tried to relock the phone...and I did but now I cant go anywhere but the fastboot screen!!!!
Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you relocked already just run the ruu in fastboot and restore to stock.

Just read read and read more..be comfortable first than you'll be fine and know how to get out of any situation
Just read up and give it another go.....like anything else, sometimes you need certain thing to happen to learn....good luck.
Just saying, you flashed the boot.img after flashing the rom and gapps? The boot.img is flashed before flashing the rom
It can be done either way.
ive been seeing alot of new members soft bricking this way should read though this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957193 it explains every thing for ppl on hboot 1.14 and higher.

That is what is supposed to happen. Once you relock, you need to run the RUU. It won't boot otherwise.
I am unlocked and rooted again.....ready to try again...
I want to leave the phone alone but I cant help myself.......Anyone else have this issue???
I know what you mean, when i first got my one x and learned of rooting, i felt i was claustrophobic with normal stock. I Read and read and read some more, before I even thought about flashing roms. But I Recommenced flashing Viper JB 3.1.0 As it basically installs the boot img in the boot-loader for you. I also recommend Cm 10.1, except it does not have camera working as of yet. If you dont mind not having a camera, cm 10.1 is a very smooth rom. Also remember if flashing certain roms like cm 10. dalvik, cache and factory reset, as well as flashing the boot img are required for the rom to work. Good luck

[Q] Stuck in ''entering recovery...'' htc one s

What's up everybody! This is my first post here and I am what you would call a noob!
First of all I got tired of the 4.2.2 jb upgrade never coming to my htc one s and decided to give cyanogenmod 10.1 a shot (my first attempt ever tampering with mobile software)!
So I have unlocked the bootloader on my phone following a guide. It now says ''unlocked''
After that, I have tried to flash the paul recovery.img from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583427 .
I have done it through adb with the command promt as it says on the article above!
The command promt apparently managed to do the job and it said ''finished'' as it should!
Then i rebooted the phone into recovery mode through the bootloader menu but it then stucks there doing nothing...I have left it for 5 minutes and it was still like that and i thought that the recovery wasn't succesful (i ve seen it going very fast at the clockworkmod menu at videos on youtube while mine was stuck). I then rebooted it by holding down the power button and it went to the sence screen normally.
Then i have tried the other recovery img described at the article...Same thing happened...Then the other one! Same thing again!
Every time i am trying to flash the recovery image the phone stucks in ''entering recovery...'' screen, doing nothing.
Am I doing something wrong?
Please help, it will be much appreciated! I really want to dig custom roms...I' m a total geek
Thanks in advance!!

To boot into recovery, Hold VolumeDown + Power.
Edit: maybe you've done that, but make sure that you choose the correct recovery version. that is, match the version of your phone S3/S4 with the recovery.
Specific recovery for specific phone.

plus spent all night trying to download the recovery.img from clockworkmod.com as well as other links and all I get is this LONG encrypted script page displayed, and not an actual FILE that prompts you to download. going crazy here!

The link works, i ve managed to do it but twrp is useless if you want to flash any roms...I have tried every known version of cm for htc one s and I can't flash any of them in my phone through the twrp recovery...Always fails for no apparent reason! If you want my advise, do not waste your time, cause it's almost certain that ig you flash any custom rom, you will loose the advantages of htc sense, including the camera performance and special effects and also the beautiful widgets...If anyone though knows how to flash a REALLY nice rom with twrp we will be glad to hear his/her suggestions!

sad part is I'm not going for anything fancy.. When I bought the phone (last week) it had version 4.1 on there and all I want to do is upgrade it to 4.2... and no it's NOT available through AT&T in anyways what's so ever.. hence the flash recovery chaos.
If no one response with a solid solution, then I'm just gonna let it be like you said.

[SOLVED] Did I brick?

Hey everyone,
So I think I may have done something strange and i'm not sure how to fix it. Long story short, screen cracked, so I bought a new one and I used TWRP to backup my original phone. So now, i'm just trying to unlock and root, you know, the usual. BTW, I tried using ABD/Fastboot, which I never typically do, but I heard it was more efficient and whatnot so I thought I try. I think the unlocking of the bootloader went well. And I even think I flashed recovery properly. But when I tried to access recovery, it prompted me for a password.
I read on the TWRP site I was supposed to let the phone boot as normal before accessing recovery. Oops. So I tried formatting all the data on the phone and no I have no OS or any files to recover from and adb push keeps giving me "Device not found" and now I don't know what to do.
Help?
EDIT: In case anyone has this issue searching threads, I just used Wug Toolkit to flash everything back to stock and then used the same Toolkit to unlock and root. TWRP isn't going to recognize a backup from a different phone. To my understanding, there is a way around that, but I didn't look into it. Oh, and apparently, don't flash the EFS partition lol

Odin is a Samsung thing. Not LG.
What you'll need to do is flash the 4.4.2 factory image. Follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513701

OK!
So, I used the Wug toolkit to basically flash everything to stock, and then root it. I installed TWRP using the app and I tried using the app to restore from my earlier back up. So, it boots into recovery but nothing happened. Looking at the log, it says the TWRP isn't able to locate the files. Trying to just restore from recovery isn't helpful because when I hit "Restore" nothing pops up. As if the SDCard partition isn't being accessed. I can't see any of the files in any directory. Anyone have any ideas?
You need to let the phone boot into android before flashing a custom recovery.

Did you put the backup on the root of the sdcard? I think it needs to be in the TWRP folder. You should first make a backup of your current rom even if it's stock rooted.

Someone explained to me TWRP won't recognize a backup with a serial number from a different phone. So essentially, I will just have to forego it. I used Wug Toolkit to fix this issue and just flashed everything to stock and had the same toolkit unlock and root. Using ADB was a fail and cost me a whole afternoon lol

4.4.4 ota with unlocked bootloader

I've been out if the mix for awhile and I should know the answer to this but better safe than sorry. I have an ultra with an unlocked boot loader. I just downloaded the 4.4.4 ota. Can I just install it normally or do I need to flash it in twrp or?? And will this lock my boot loader? Sorry for asking these but like I said I've been out of the rooting n flashing game for a min.....lol thanks in advance.
Flash in stock recovery. It will not relock the bootloader. Undo any system changes you made prior to installing the ota

I have my DroidMAXX with unlocked Bootloader... I have Rsd 4.4, then take two OTAs to reach 4.4.4... Now after 3 days, my phone is randomly switches OFF... Earlier twice a day, now upto 5 times a day... I have tried Factory reset via twrp recovery... But still the problem exists...
Further sometime (Half hour) back, phone shows "Phone has Exited COOL DOWN Mode. Normal operation has resumed"... Then after few minutes, it says, "Entering COOL DOWN mode.. Only Emergency calls can be made" and just switches OFF... No I am NOT using Data / Wifi or anything.. Phone is NOT hot either, its already cool... Its looking like a FALSE POSITIVE COOL DOWN MODE...
Any solution sir ji???
EDIT:-
Now phone doesn't keeps ON for a full minute... Phone is cool, no heating and battery is NOT draining fast, just normal only... Any other solutions boss?

You should try to fxz back to a clean version of 4.4.4 using rsd lite or House of Moto. If that doesn't work then you likely have a problem with the battery.

Agreed

My battery is super cool and I don't think there is some issue with battery, but faulty s/w... I will try fxz to 4.4.4 or can I try flashing some custom ROM like debloated stock ROM???
Please reply...
EDIT:-
Want to just add few details... Now I can enter TWRP and be there for a lot of time without any issue.. so the issue lies in s/w I guess... I remember, something like restore battery stats in earlier CWM recovery, but I didn't find one in TWRP...
Am I missing something???

I would FXZ 4.4.4 then run my 4.4.4 Moto X port but I'm biased. Could be SW related.
Flashed 4.4.4 stock via RSDlite... Upon startup, the phone said, "Exiting Cool Down mode.. Back to Normal" (with Title TEMPERATURE on that dialog box) or something like that.. So, I guess, the phone is back to Normal... Phone looks stable for a full day... I have to wait for two to three days..
Thanks TopSnake and Caseyk621...

Wasup fellas?
Pardon my crappy grammar, im writing on a french keyboard and its not familliar.
I was trying to do the HTC one m8 verizon to full t mobile compatibility change but something went wrong. Im stuck in the white screen and the only thing that works is recovery. I thought i backed it all up but when i went to restore, lo and behold, no file. So here I am. Stuck with the "no image wrong image!" message. It seems that my computer recognizes the phone because when i write "fastboot" in cmd a long list of stuff pops up.
This guy had the same issue; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2789965
Somebody said "Flash stock rom and its recovery from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2701376 "
But the thread is huge and I dont know what im looking for nor how to install it since my phone doesnt show up in my computer in the way that a USB key does, so i cannot put files in it.
There seem to be other threads on this issue out there but to be honest i cant understand the technical mumbo jumbo. Im not completely computer illiterate but i am new to this whole phone hacking thing. So, in layman terms, what am I to do?

Somebody said "Flash stock rom and its recovery from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2701376 "
But the thread is huge and I dont know what im looking for nor how to install it since my phone doesnt show up in my computer in the way that a USB key does, so i cannot put files in it.
There seem to be other threads on this issue out there but to be honest i cant understand the technical mumbo jumbo. Im not completely computer illiterate but i am new to this whole phone hacking thing. So, in layman terms, what am I to do?

No image wronge image is not your problem. That simply means you don't have an RUU file on your SD card. The bootloaderr checks each time you enter it looking for an RUU file because that's how it flashes them.
fastboot flash TWRP. Boot the phone into TWRP (recovery). Copy the rom you intended to use to your SD card/internal storage. Flash that rom in TWRP.

Hey,
thanks for the assistance. I'm not quite sure what I should do. I'm in recovery / install and I have two files in there, Android_revolution_HD_one_M8_43.0.zip
and ElementalX-m8-0.4-Sense.zip
I've tried installing both (flash=install, no?) but I run into the same issue.
Edit: I was basically trying to follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2710720
What should I flash?
Thanks

I tried flashing "Android_revolution_HD_one_M8_43.0.zip"
but I get the same end result. If that's what you mean. I'm not really sure. If not, how do I flash anything if the phone doesn't seem to show up on my computer where all my hard drives are. Can I do it through the command prompt?
I'm totally lost, I tried googling what you said but a whole bunch of super complicated stuff shows up. I'm gonna need to take some baby steps here. What file exactly am I flashing and how?
