A friend of mine has an ex contract HTC One - he's just had an upgrade so wants to play about with his old M7 -- I told him i would flash him a new Firmware and RUU but i'm having difficulties rooting it .. i understand i need to do this before i can S-Off? i have rumrunner for the S-Off...

I am currently running a stock HTC One S that I have owned for 2 years or so. I was hoping to root it but even after some searching am unaware of how to properly do so. I've heard mention of hboot and fastboot but don't yet understand them. My main concern is security, I'm new to the world of rooting and complete device modifications and was hoping to find advice and guidance on maintaining security and troubleshooting any issues. Hello,
I am unable to root my HTC Sensation.
Kingo ROOT comes up with this error: Gyazo ending, cant post links ----> /4138885a9fb41a80337ff39f7b7e129e (It says" ROOT Failed! NeedRoot")
Tutorials on this forum all have the links removed.
If anyone could help me that'd be great!

After installing Rom, the Wi-Fi didn't work, so I understood That the problem is the firmware, but if I'm S-ON and I can't go in s-off I really can't flash a new firmware?

Unfortunately this is the only post I found on xda about your exact device ... in the *** New Device Forum Requests *** thread.
You may ask for custom development in the Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum, but I think it would be better to start porting a custom ROM to your device yourself.
