I've done a bunch of searching and can't find the answer for this phone.
Does anyone know how we can select just "My Contacts" instead of "All Contacts" with regards to syncing the Google contact list?
There's gotta be a way. I'm going to check the option to only show contacts with phone numbers but frankly, that option kind of sucks. There should be a better way to do this.
i have the same issue and can't find any setting to sync only My Contacts.
What is even more annoying is that it does not sync the groups i have set in google contacts

I can't find any options to add groups or add contacts to groups. I have only 2 groups listed - google and corporate with no options.
I think Touchwiz completely borked groups.
Yeah, it seems to be a problem with touchwiz because my buddy who's got an EVO has the option available.
Yeah, this is probably the only thing on the Captivate that I haven't been able to fix. It syncs every random Google contact I have, whereas other Android phones I've had would only sync the "My Contacts" group.
You can set contacts to only display people with numbers, if that helps.
You can create groups. Open Contacts then hit menu, create. Then when you open the group there will be an add member on the screen. For existing groups with members, you have to hit menu and then add member to add more.
The other thing is that I keep losing contacts randomly.
I don't understand why this is happening, it's quite frustrating

I still can't follow;
I open contacts and hit create and I get an overlay "save contact to" with 4 choices:
Phone
Sim
Corporate
Google
Only if i choose phone and scroll to the bottom is there an group field (shows unassigned).
EDIT - if i select the group i go to an empty box, but i can hit menu and create a group. Unfortunately every group or contact I create assigned to phone (not corp or google) becomes hidden. If I try to create group with the same name, it says it exists. Trying to create a new contact in "phone" still gives me empty group list.
So TouchWiz is hiding some stuff/data in the interface. Very bizarre.

I forget a step, sorry. You have to select groups after opening contacts.
I used the free AT&T Address Book feature on this phone to create all my contacts on the phone. I then have them linked to my Corporate contacts, Gmail and Facebook. This allows me to assign custom ringtones and manage my contacts using all the features of the phone.
To use the AT&T Address I had to export my contacts from Outlook to a CSV file. I then imported them via the AT&T website (addressbook.att.net). Now I have all my contacts as phone contacts and no longer have the SNS restrictions.
Is there a messaging app that is much like the default one?
By which i mean that when i am txted the app recognizes them as someone from my contact list because of syncing with facebook, without actually adding them as a contact.
Is there such an app?
Can u explain what u want to do, write an example? As i understand your question u need kind of magician app which can connect unknown numbers with fb contacts?? -if you already have your fb friends in contact list and they have their numbers written in fb then those numbers are already in your contact list right?

Okay, so. Lets say i get a sms from someone, and they are on my contact list because of syncing it with facebook. But i didnt add their number in the phonebook, i have their number because of facebook.
The stock messaging app recognizes the number as a contact even though i didnt add it manually. Is there another messaging app that does this aswell?
Go sms does. So does handcent. Chomp sometimes does

Hello Everybody,
i already googled my fingertips bloody and used the forum search too.
Am i really the only person on this earth which is annoyed from the whatsapp entrys in contact app?
When i open the contact app and select a contact, there is always an entry whatsapp call and whatsapp message
I dont want it. Please help me to get rid of that crap. If i want to text or call a whatsapp contact i use the whatsapp app. :silly:
Hey everyone.
I have been searching for a good contact app to replace the default android one on my Moto Z Play.
I'm really methodical in organizing my contacts, I need them to have always name and surname, and if at first I don't know the surname of the contact I'm adding I just hate to add tips to remember who it is. What I do is to use other filds, such as company, job or position.
I really need an app that allow me to see this kind of aditional information without having to open/edit the contact, and as far as I know I can't configure the default contacts app to show it.
If any of you do know and app that allow me to show the information in the contacts list screen I would really apreciate it.
Thanks already for your attention.
Hi try rolo full version man...
Hello everyone,
As a new user of this beautiful smartphone I come to ask a little help.
Indeed I try to apply for each contact a different ringtone in the directory, except that every time they call me it's the general ringtone that rings.
Do you have a solution ?
Did I forget to set something?
Thank you in advance for your answers.
PS: Sorry for the translation it's google translation.

I use Google Contacts and when I set a personal ringtone for a contact, it doesn't work. If i set a personalized ringtone for a contact using VIVO Contacts, it will work. Looks like VIVO Contacts supersedes Google Contacts. If you're trying to do this using VIVO Contacts and it doesn't work, perhaps contacting VIVO using Facebook messenger might help with a solution.

Thank you very much, it only works with the VIVO contact app. Too bad because it is ugly.
By cons can not we put the photos in front of the contacts?
Settings-Contacts-Copy Contacts-Copy from "[email protected]" account will bring all your contacts from Google into VIVO. All you have to do is edit ringtone using VIVO Contacts.
You can use personal photos for contacts using Google and VIVO Contacts independently. For VIVO Contacts just open the contact and touch the photo icon at top center. From there you'll see photo select options to choose your picture. Select photo and touch OK.
With Google Contacts, select the contact and touch the small pencil at the bottom right. touch the camera icon at top center and select photo options. After you select your photo, touch the check-mark at the top right.
