I'm currently running kit kat on my gen 1 moto g - eager for the lollipop update.
As of today, lollipop is being rolling out as an OTA update for the US. Would I be able to use this for my UK phone?

I think you can. I've used the Brazilian retail Jellybean for my Asian retail RAZR. Check the development threads

Hey guys...yesterday motorola announce an official 4.4.4 update in india and they said it will roll out by this weak....but non of us get the 4.4.4 in india... If someone confirm that they had received update or received any notification regarding update..it would be nice for us....pls also take a screenshot...

anyway OTA is 4.4.2. I want to update it to 4.4.4, is there an global official rom I can use ?
It's only pushed to Indians, you'll have to wait for it.
your saying that your on 4.4.2? you have a dual sim phone. there hasn't been a 4.4.4 update released yet, only for gpe devices, 4.4.4 will come to the non gpe devices after a while. it will probably come to the dual sim version last because of some development and it's kind of different to the single sim version so more time would need to be put into releasing 4.4.4 update to dual sim

There are two forum sections called 'android development' and 'original android development'. Look before asking..
i have recently unlocked my boot loader and installed xposed followed by some useful tweaks. after hearing the announcement of andriod lollipop i was awestruck and now i feel guilty about rooting my mobile. can i get OTA update for andriod 5.0??? if yes what am i supposed to do before installing the update??? (i know it's too early to talk about it, but i can't handle my anxiety)

You can read about the planned Android L update for your device here: Moto G > Moto G General Moto G will be upgraded to android L.
So it is officially on the list of devices which will get Android L.
But it's not released yet. So you have to be patient.
BTW, you may have to flash the update manually as long as you are rooted. To get OTA updates, you have to be "stock" (on official firmware).
