[Q] [HELP] Stuck on 1+ logo after updating CM12 - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Everytime I flash a new CM12 nightly, I get stuck on the oneplus logo after reboot, and the only way I can fix this is by doing the system each time and then flashing the update... Is there any solution to that? Is this common?
Thanks in advance to whoever can help!

What do you mean by doing the system each time?

Hey, sorry for answering so late...
So what happens is that every time I want to apply a CM12 nightly update, I have to wipe the system partition first in twrp.
Is this normal?

That's called a clean flash, and yes it's the recommended way of flashing a new ROM. But if you're flashing a nightly of the same ROM you shouldn't need to do that most of the time.

Then what should I do?
Because of I don't wipe the system first, I get stuck on the 1+ logo, which means I can't even update from the OTA

You might not have a choice. You could try updating using the CyanDelta app on the Play Store.

Ok thanks! Also, is it normal that somme things like the quick settings ribbon aren't affected by the style of the themes I use?

That depends on whether the dev of the theme actually themed the quick settings ribbon or not, I guess they didn't.

Do a dirty flash (no factory wipe/reset) that will do it.

Just flash the same ROM you did again, just don't choose wipe or anything.

"just flash the same ROM you did again" <-- this i am unsure about
I was using the weaksauce temporary root and accidentally uninstalled the stock messages app and am unsure how to get it back
I am very unfamiliar with flashing ROM's and anything of the sort.

[Q] error executing updater binary in zip / lollipop cm12 nightly

Hi,
i searched many threads here on xda to find a solution, but nothing works. I tried different recovery versions of twrp, cwm(philz) and the official cyanogenmod version.
I tried to flash it with sideload.
I think the problem is only with Lollipop ROM, cm-bacon-XNPH38R.zip he was able to flash.
I added a screenshot where the error happens.
I hope you guys can help me, please tell me if you need any more information?
And sorry for my bad english. ^^
Thanks in advance!

It looks like you're not wiping fully (system, data, cache, dalvik cache) before flashing.
Are you using multirom? That error is common if the updater-script file isn't multirom compatible

You definitely wiped system and data? Did you check the md5 of the ROM zip after downloading it?

I only wiped dalvik, system and cache. You really think wipe data makes a difference?
The MD5 is correct.
This is so annoying... :/

Why did you say you'd done a full wipe when you hadn't? It's incorrect information like that that makes troubleshooting difficult. [emoji52]
Yes, wiping data makes a huge difference. Of course it does, you're leaving incompatible data behind, even if the flash succeeded you'd have bugs galore. You're supposed to do a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik cache) when you flash a new ROM.

Flashing is failing complete and i thought wiping data makes no difference in the flash progress. When the flash progress finishes i wanted to do a full wipe of data. If i wipe data, does it delete the content on the simulated sdcard(internal storage) too or only the app data?

No it doesn't touch your personal data, only app data and settings. Still doesn't answer why you said you'd wiped data when you hadn't.

I'm gonna go with @timmaaa on this one too with the new info you added. The hint to me is right in the screenshot. It can't flash over incompatible data.
You're not trying to flash f2fs ROM on ext4 are you? Or vice versa? What ROM are you trying to flash?

Either flash the latest TWRP zip file I believe its upto 2.8.6.0, or simply download the TWRP manager app from the play store and install it that way. Once installed just boot into Recovery and flash CM12s
Use clockwork work mod unofficial v6.0.4.8. Working.or else use liquid smooth nightly
Use clockwork work mod unofficial v6.0.4.8. Working.or else use liquid smooth nightly with twrp.choice is yours but cwm recovery can flash all ROM which twrp is unable to execute.

First things first, stop using a toolkit, they're nothing but trouble and you really shouldn't need one anyway. I think you probably need to slow down a bit. My guide has detailed instructions on anything you need to know. Can you copy a ROM zip from your PC to your phone?

When changing from KitKat to a CM based Lollipop ROM you need to first flash Lollipop firmware and modem, that's probably why Bliss wouldn't flash. When asking for help with something is best to provide as much detail as possible, so when saying that TWRP won't install a ROM you need to detail exactly what error message you're getting on an attempted install.

Without the specific error I can only guess that your firmware is incorrect. If you want to flash Bliss, perform a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik cache), flash these:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B98G0KTJwnBFdVgxZ0x5RzNJSE0/edit?usp=docslist_api
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B98G0KTJwnBFU0Z1TUIyVE50WW8/edit?usp=docslist_api
Then reboot back to recovery, then flash ROM + gapps, then reboot phone.

Delete this file and go to settings - about device - software update - update now
It should download update again.

Don't want be rude, but this error was asked multiple times in the past 2 weeks and there are already at least 5 threads opened with this question and exact screen. First of all, you can not OTA update with TWRP, only with Cyanogen recocery. Either that or dowload the full ROM and flash it.

Then something was wrong, cause based on that screen you are still on Android 4.4.2 (fingerprint).
It is better to flash the full ROM, not the delta: CN-12.0-YNG1TAS2I3-bacon-signed-FULL.zip
This can be flashed also from TWRP.
