Hi,
I have went and deleted photos from my z3 internal memory thinking I had backed them up, but I didn't.
Is there any way to recover them from internal mem, apart from paying £50 for software from google (that may no do as it says on the tin)
I understand if I root, it may help but don't really want to go down that road just yet, gonna wait for 5.0...
Thanks for any help you provide.
Dky.
I need this too. I also want to root, but what are the recover options after rooting the z3?

Hi
I wanted to ask something about Rooting but couldn't find specific section for it or if there is, i am sorry i couldn't locate it. I apologize for it.
I have a Huawei Ascend G610-U20 with Android 4.2.1. The internal memory is 4GB but only 1.86GB is useable (on format). I am using Stock ROM.
I have some applications which are installed in phone memory (sdcard 0, not external sdcard). For example Facebook and by default it doesn't have the option of shifting to SD card, that option is turned off. Similarly this is off for Mix Cloud app. There are so many other apps as well. I use Dodol launcher and all it's themes are on phone memory and cannot be migrated to external SD card.
I found this thread of making SD card as default location for installation. I didn't do it being afraid to make any disastrous changes to my phone.
Then i got to know about rooting and i was again afraid of bricking my phone. This is why i am asking it here. I had previously another Android phone and i rooted it and then it started some problems mainly software clashes. e.g. when viber is being used and a phone call comes, phone restarted. I thought of at least considered that time that this is due to rooting.
My sole purpose of doing any of above method is, to be able to migrate those apps to external SD card which are by default not able to be migrated in stock ROM. Else than this i am not much advanced user and nor do i want to go further deeper.
What you recommend and what is the best way to do.
Just a point to mention, in case of using that 1st method of Android ADB method, i think it would need me to format the phone and then reinstall the apps. Am i right?
Please guide me.
Thanks in advance.
Hello xda community,
I unlocked the bootloader of my friend's Xperia Z3 D6603 earlier and didn't expect a factory reset so no backup of his pictures (and some game saves) exist.
In theory they data should still be there, so using this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-internal-memory-data-recovery-yes-t1994705 I should be able to recover what can be recovered.
The problem is this requires a rooted device which it isn't yet.
My main question is: Is this way to root http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/development/root-stock-kernel-twrp-v01-test-28-09-t2889794 the one that causes the least damage to the data I want to recover?
Another smaller question would be if there are any tricks to preserve the data (e.g. using sectors that had no data) while installing the tools to root and to recover?
Would really appreciate your help to salvage this situation
I don't know why it was an unexpected loss of data, it says it will happen right there on the sony website
In order to root, you should just flash a kernel.
In order to preserve data in the future, back it up to your PC
PS, you may have lost more than you thought, if you did not root BEOFRE you unlocked you have also lost your friends DRM keys and so you can say goodbye to decent pictures in low light and other DRM functions
Seems like I f***ed up on multiple fronts…
Managed to get a dump of the SD card yesterday, but there doesn't really seem to be anything left to salvage.(Which I don't understand, why would they overwrite the SD card when they could just reallocate the space?)
Neither did I know about the DRM, but there seem to be ways to circumvent the lack of those, will look into that later.
Well, thanks for the help and the heads up.

Your sd card should not have been touched. Only internal storage and the data partition.
Yes, there is a thread about returning functionality of drm functions, is not 100%, but better than nothing
Flash storage doesn't work the same way hard drives do. Often, when you delete something, it's gone forever "zeroed out" by the flash controller.
This shouldn't be the case with SD card, though, and it shouldn't have even been touched when unlocking. Aren't you confusing the "internal" SD card (phone storage) with an external one?
Hi I have a question about my rooted Alcatel One Touch Pop Astro Model 50042T. First off I have rooted phones and tablets and moded gaming systems so I have a general-intermediate understanding of the process of rooting but I'm pretty much lost after that. (Also I do NOT have ready access to a PC for the time being.)
So my main concern is that my phone should have 4gb of internal storage and it is only showing that I have 1.80gb!! I know that there are partitions or divvied space that are hidden or you need special permissions to edit. Is that the USB storage? If I'm wrong about that sorry, please correct me.
So my question is how do I reorganize, modify, or even delete hidden partitions? Anything to return my phones visible 1.80gb of storage to the original 4gb? I just need to be able to access it again to install apps on it. If the whole 4gb is impossible, can I get it back to the 3.7-3.8gb that was available when I first purchased it? Please help!!
Im not sure its completely rooted. Im running king root version 4.9.6 and Purify version 1.5.2.159 and I might have installed a custom ROM or kernel but I'm not entirely sure. I got the pphone approximately 3-4 months ago and I rooted it the same night. And I tried multiple versions of king root and other apps and eventually my phone storage disappeared.
•I would install a root checker if I had enough space.
•I used purify to get rid of apps that I figured were bloatware but I still only have 43.82mb available
•I have transferred every app to the SD card that can be stored there.(If there is way to store system apps and apps that usually can't be stored on external SD I would like to know.)
•Im sorry this is my second post of this. I'm really not sure if I posted this in the right place the first time.
Thank you for your help,
Maxx

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm new to this and wrestling with the learning curve but I have spent time doing searches and trying to find an answer myself before asking for assistance.
I have managed to unlock my bootloader and, as I understand it, I should now find a custom recovery for my device before I try to root it. I have searched and searched but I have not been able to find a custom recovery which is definitely for my Android and I don't want to brick the thing. Can anyone point me in the right direction, please?
Beyond that, any advice on the best rooting options would be greatly appreciated.
I'm running Android 6 on an Acer Iconia One 7 B1-780 (MTK8163).
It seems like nobody is working on this tablet... so sad because its got a great screen and is very responsive, I have also looked for a custom ROM or the right way to root it since it comes with so little space but to no avail. If you´ve found something let me know please.

If you're worried about the lack of space (as I was), you may use an SD card as internal storage. I did that, and at first, I thought all was well. However, it wasn't very long until I started getting the insufficient space message when installing apps. What I forgot to do, was MIGRATE the data from the internal space to the SD Card when I was asked if I wanted to use the inserted SD card as adoptive storage. If you skipped that step as I foolishly did, you may change it manually in the storage settings. Simply use the three-dot menu (top right) when looking at the SD card storage menu. Select 'Migrate Data' and it will push app data to the card opening up lots of internal space.
I now have over 10 gigs of apps installed to my 32 gig micro SD Card with 1.5 gigs used of the 3 (!) available in the included internal space.
Some apps still continue to install to the internal space. Simply move the app to the card manually (again in the storage settings). However, some apps CANNOT be moved to the card. Thankfully, in my use, these apps seem to be rare.
All the best!
Please I Need to Root and install Custom Recovery for Acer Iconia one 7 B1-780
Help please!! Guide me how to Root Acer Iconia one 7 B1-780 and install Custom Recovery. I have tried but I couldn't find any hope you guys help me ASAP THANK YOU.
Hi there,
I am running a stock lg g pro 2 d838, and am constantly battling with the onboard storage. Ive got a 128gb memory card, but some apps just cant be moved.
I was wondering if someone were able to provide me with a step by step guide (I dont have any knowledge or experience with this) for the easiest way to be able to use my phones sd card for all apps etc.
Everytime I look at rooting, custom roms guide they appear to be written for those that already know.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi, why would you want to move all apps to sd card? I am not sure if you can do that.
You properly need root to be able to do it, so you have to root your phone first.
I think you need app on play store to move apps to sd card, you can search for it. I don't have a name of the app but I know there is app for that, it might need need as I said.
