New One Plus one no network - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys
Just purchased a brand new One Plus One. It had bloatware on it for some reason (Texas Poker game). When I try to do the OTA update, it has an assert fail message and it doesnt seem to catch network. Please help me? How can I update to the latest version without voiding warranty?
Thank you so much.

Where did you buy it? I'm guessing it's the Chinese version, does it have Cyanogen branding on the back? You're best off starting from scratch, unlocking the bootloader and flashing the stock images with fastboot to make sure it's all kosher.

Not really, but that would explain the bloat. Check out my guide thread:

[Q] About rooting my opo.

Hey.
So, i'm new here.
I just bought mine oneplus about a week ago.
A chinese version with a stock cm11 rom and i have some questiones:
My previously phone was a lg g2 with cm12 5.0.2, and i really miss the lollipop experience.
So, my question is the opo will ever gets the lollipop update soon?
'Cuz im really dont know if it's worth to root my phone and flash one.
If it does get the lollipop update, when it will happen?
And if i flash a lollipop rom, so what is the the most stable one? And wich kernel?
Im really confused. I hope you guys can help me out.
Sry for my bad english. And thanks alot!

The most stable Lollipop ROM will most likely be the official lollipop ROM (CM12S), which is meant to be released next month. In order to take that update you first need to be on CM11S though, and it's likely that you're not on CM11S if you have the Chinese model. Go into Settings/About Phone and tell me what it says under Cyanogenmod Version.

You're on CM11S so when the update comes you can take it. Asking which ROM is most stable never really works out, you'll get a bunch of people all with their own opinion contradicting each other. Just find one you think you'll like by checking the features in the OP, and read the last ten pages or so to see what bugs are being reported. Just keep in mind that a lot of bugs are caused by user error.

Ok.
So i think it's worth to wait for the official one.
THANK YOU SO MUCH
OH!! and another question!
I heard that if i root my device, without flashing a rom.
So I'll keep getting an updates for the opo. Is that true??

Yes, you can root the stock ROM and still receive OTA updates. You need an unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery to flash root but that's ok because you'll still get OTA with those as well.

need to root J327T1

Greetings,
Ive bought J327T1 today and i want to root my device which is on nougat.
You and countless others. Welcome to the unrootable device club.
the Sm-j327u is rootable its the same exact device as the j327t & t1 the only difference with that model is it's bootloader unlocked. the only solution i see is buying the unlocked version of the j3 prime from samsung's website. good thing about buying from samsung is the fact you can choose what company you want and theres none or less bloatware installed.
---------- Post added at 11:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:52 PM ----------
also i have the link. i recommend that everyone buys directly from samsung for now on. remember one thing if your device has sm-XXXXU (X's in place of model numbers/letters) (U=unlocked and available on all carriers.) This is the death of unlocked bootloaders on carrier specific devices. the link to the phone is: https://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/phones/all-other-phones/galaxy-j3-16gb-2017--unlocked--sm-j327uzkaxaa/
Has anyone found a way to root this phone yet i have both the Tmobile and the Metro versions i'd like to have rooted

We are working on it stay tuned a new thread will be made in the guides and news section if we are successful.
Update: we are out of ideas. Until someone has an exploit we cannot root this device sorry but you will need to either buy some other device or buy the j327u directly from samsung. It is unlocked and you can flash cf autoroot no problem. The only issue is we do not have twrp for that device yet but it will be soon.

theres no method for revision 2 firmware and its impossible to downgrade. the bootloader wont allow it. samsung added a new security check in place to check versions of firmware.

Is anyone ever goona look at this in the future or is it hopeless? Because I do understand that root is available but even that is unstable.

for now its hopeless. samsung really pissed me off by patching the root method not even a month after it was made. sure performance was improved slightly but patching the bootloader is just too much. is having an unlock method too much to ask?

Really surprised me with Samsung to about this. They're normally pretty nice with OEM unlock and etc. Unfortunately this is just a phone they've licked down. They're Galaxy Note series all have root. So it really makes no sense to me why this one is so closed off.

TMO to Global Flash?

Has anyone had any luck flashing Tmobile's OP8 with the firmware from the global model? When I had my OP7Pro, I recall flashing the global firmware to improve the overall experience, as TMO is TERRIBLE when it comes to updates. Is this even feasible with 5G?
And before you ask why I didn't just buy the global model... I am on EIP on Tmobile.

If I am correct; People are waiting for one plus to fix the IMEI not accepted issue on the one plus unlock bootloader site; after which people will start unlocking and reflashing the global version. I am waiting at least.
That's correct, without an unlocked bootloader were stuck atm lol

It's not locked. Okay? Every one plus has been able to be bootloader unlocked? How is it locked down? You're incorrect and wrong. Y'all "should have bought from one plus" love budding in not knowing anything. We knew what we was getting into. We have our phones unlocked and now we can flash global version and it took two weeks. Okay?
Do you have the Karen version or something Vio?!

I had a question. I am on the t mobile software with a custom kernal. What benefits do stock oxygen OS have?
i normally run custom kernel (want smruf best kernel ever) and xxx rom but mostly want modem to work with bands the way they was doing flashing eu modem over global rom all you needed was ota for global to fix modem stock dont have any advantage over the kernels these devs build

So flash the global then flash back the TMobile modem? Just want to be sure about that. Could you write the steps out or point me to a post with the steps? I'm familiar with the one plus one had that be phone for years. But I'm new to the whole a/b partition phones. I have unlocked my TMobile oneplus 8. I've been kind of waiting to flash anything because I haven't been able to find much on flashing the TMobile version

unlock bootloader, flash TWRP, make a full back up, also you should back up persist just in case your fingerprint stops working, then flash the global firmware fastboot ROM, then flash TWRP restore the MODEM ONLY from the full backup and root etc

Question Rog Phone 5S CN Tencent into Global

Hello, first time in here!
I was planning to buy the Rog Phone 5S, and I found a quite cheap CN Tencent version on eBay.
However, I'm not really into ROMs and firmware things, so I would like to ask a couple of things.
Is there any EASY way to install the WW version? I tried looking here in the forum's, but I was a bit confused, so I thought it was better to ask here.
And also after installing the Global version, will I be able to receive auto updates like usual?
Thanks in advance for the answers, have a nice weekend everyone!!

Then it's actually better off to find a WW version (International) rather than go through the hassle and headache of converting one. Asus made it difficult over the year for conversions, and especially on the 5S - the conversion us not yet a 100% successful.

Sad to hear, WW ones are way more expensive and much harder to find I would try to go for the conversion, but if it's not 100% successful, that's a problem. What happens if the conversion don't go the right way? Does the phone bricks, or it simy stays the way it is?

Question T-mobile locked to debrand and unlock it SM-S908U

Hi guys,
I just bought a Galaxy S22 and it's locked and seems like can't be unlocked by T-Mobile, I'd like to flash it with a stock ROM and I'm wondering if that's enough to get the phone unlocked, I don't want to root it.
I've been searching and I saw a couple of firmware but not sure if they are up to date and how is the process to flash the phone.
I'd like to flash it using a MacBook Pro.
baseband is
S908USQU2CWCE
S908U - Galaxy model
SQ - Snapdragon
U - update
2 - Bootloader version 2?
CWCE - what's this?
any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You cannot defeat a carrier lock by simply flashing a different CSC. There are online services available that can do this for a fee. Due to XDA's policy on paid content/services, I cannot recommend a specific service.
If you use firmware for a different model, such as S908B, you could render your device inoperable.
As for flashing firmware, there is already an existing thread on this. Please search before posting.

First, why can it not be unlocked? Did you buy it outright or do you still owe payments on it? If paid off, it should be able to be unlocked.
And check the How to Guides tabs for instructions on flashing and so on. I keep my device stock all the way, other than the launcher and icons.
