Does updating CM sources of a CM based kernel means merging both of their sources & compiling theme ?

Good Evening,
I am modifing the kernel source (the wifi part specifically) working on a CM7 system and I want to migrate to CM9 because of the improvements on the system and kernel.
I know I can get the CM9 source code from CyanogenMod Github repo, but the kernel comes pre-compiled. So my question is:
Where I can find the "official" kernel source code that comes with CyanogenMod 9 v4.0.3 v2.1?
KalimochoAz's samsung-kernel-crespo repo has been last updated 2 months ago, so I guess the kernel updates must be somewhere else.
Thank you in advance,
Renzo
Hi, I'm working on Android 5.0 for my i9305 using CyanogenMod projects (for dependencies and proprietary blobs) with small changes (I just removed CM stuff). Currently, I'm using android-5.0.0_r6 branch from AOSP. Is that branch okay ? Or should I use master ? Thank for answers.
Hi,
I'm on OmniROM 4.4.4 with Franco r63.
I want to apply this patch: https://github.com/pelya/android-keyboard-gadget
but I can't seem to find any way to download the r63 release source.
I should mention that I'm new to compiling android kernels (but I have compiled regular linux kernels back to 2.0.x versions)
Thanks.
Hello guys, i've been searching this for sometime, but still can't find the answer. I'm quite new to Nexus 5, and i didn't know the history about how CAF branch was made beside aosp branch in hammerhead. The only think i know is, CAF commits was once merged by cm to aosp, but introduce many bugs. So it was divided into two branch like now. I like CAF build (the reality, i like experimental builds ) but i only found cm based roms for CAF build
TL;DR is it possible to build AOSP roms based on CAF branch ?
Thanks !
Dear all,
I was wondering, if I build Android from the AOSP source (and build in all the kernels etc. so it works on my LG G4), will all the security patches be applied by Google, or will I have to do it manually?
Thanks for your help (I'm new to building custom roms)
