[ROM]Kali Nethunter - anyone tried? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Did anyone already try the Kali Nethunter ROM based on 4.4?
https://www.kali.org/kali-linux-nethunter/

i don't think that many of us even knew this.... lol

I'm using it. I've dualbooted it using multirom. It's NOT a ROM but sort of like a package which has to be installed on top of a ROM. I have it running over PA 4.6.

So..... What is this, exactly?

Basically it is a stripped-down but impressive toolset ported from the kali linux pen test suite...
You can use your cellphone as metasploit device, bad usb device, USB HID Keyboard attacks and for many many more pen test related scenarios.
There is also a native software radio support - so you can use HackRF
You could also store some livecd images on your nexus and use the otg cable for booting your computer directly from there
All together its brilliant for security audits-on-the-go ... the question is if the phone is still useable as "phone" and camera

Kali Nethunter is basically mini Kali Linux for our phones with added features such as BadUSB,etc. The Nethunter package doesn't seem to effect battery life or usablilty as such. I'm able to use it as a stable daily driver. It's pretty amazing.

I really don't think so. You can use a chroot or a debootstrap to install it alongside Android, but I might warn you that this will likely be slooow because Android is still running in the background. Check this out: market://apps/details?id=com.zpwebsites.linuxonandroid

Kali NetHunter for the Galaxy S7 Edge WORKING

ok FIRST make backup
This is my working setup
king rom s7 edge v9 http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/rom-kingroms7edgev4-t3372923
system root not systemless
nethunter generic full chroot fixed for s7 edge
https://mega.nz/#!3QIHzQ5b!x77Wad9OUAyQqAtJJucak3C_3twfFFwZqJ77Wt1j6-c
patches https://github.com/offensive-security/kali-nethunter/wiki/Modifying-the-Kernel
AND MAIN SOURCE "with out this nothing would be possible but no one credits them for some reason?? " samsung kernel source http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=SM-G935F
this should work on any rom i believe ? . go to twrp flash nethunter full chroot then boot , now go to play store and reinstall superuser because netunter zip messes up supersu , also install supersu to system dont know if needed but i did just incase .
now boot back into twrp and flash kernel
now everything should work , at least it does for me . have any question comment in the thread
much thanks to all the people that made these roms, kernels, and files
jesse for fingerprint patch
boostermbkking for his rom
kali team for nethunter
for setoolbox
go to kali terminal and run
apt-get update
apt-get install set
full video walk though https://youtu.be/mkMp_kROKbQ sorry for no sound and awesome music
I use laptop right now to run kali/fedora pentest distro.
Does the s7 edge work in monitor mode?
Do you lose any of the awesome default s7 stuff?
I'm still on the fence on rooting this phone or not, I've rooted all my other ones but the s7 touchwiz is so nice.
Is there anything that doesn't work?
I'd love to use airmon-ng suite and reaver on a phone instead of carrying laptop around.
Thanks.

Ok everything works, but the only problem I can find so far is, the kernel patch disables 2 expos cores. CPUz shows 6/8 cores, 4arm, 2exynos. This slows down the phone noticeably and hopefully will get fixed.
Airmon-ng and reaver work great though. But you have to use the micro USB-to-USB adapter that came with the phone and use a pentest wifi adapter. The s7 built in wifi adapter doesn't go into monitor mode.

and the internel s7 wifi will never allow monitor mode , theres not monitor mode drivers for it you always have to use otg cable and dongle
thanks for your feedback i look at the cores issue
Not needed ......

Request: may someone port NitrogenOS?

I'm having this on my Nexus4 and it's a great Nougat experience.
Unfortunately, i have zero knowledge on how to port this to OPO or any other device.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...nitrogen-os-n-substratum-10-09-2016-t3459341/
Would help testing such ROM if a dev picks it up.

Obviously I'm not expecting one to one port of code.
But I'm guessing the NitrogenOS rom branches can be mixed with the OPO device branches so to make that rom ported.
Just like other ROMs, right?
Simply I never done that and none of the 'build yourself' guides i tried worked out for me.

I was able to build the rom for the one but it didn't boot (logcat said: "Slim services.jar not found") I contacted the dev but have not received a response yet. I will try syncing the 7.1 source to see if it works

Custom Rom for Galaxy J700T ??

Are there any custom roms or stock stripped roms out>??? PLOX post links!!!!!!!!!!
I've been wondering the same thing since June. Seems like all the ROMs are geared towards the F/H/M. I've have tried installing ROMs for other variants with messi2050's kernel. The only one I got to boot was the Note 7 ROM by Allosh. But WiFi did not work.
Hmmm... Any other issues? What about that ROM allowed for you to boot and function I wonder?
If we can get a bounty going for WiFi fix on that ROM we could possibly be on to something....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just copy the wifi files in /system/etc from a stock firmware with a root file manager to the same folder and give it the correct permissions in the N7 rom. The real problem is getting the Camara to work.
I just want a rom with an AOSP based system UI.

My best advice for you is to deodex your factory ROM and decompile your system framework apk(s). All of the ports you see are derived the same way. This device will never see CM/RR/Lineage ported over.
Is there any custom ROM for j700t?

Why do you think this phone will never see CM/RR/Lineage? I think its possible, but we would need is a good dedicated dev that can figure out how to port or build them.

I agree. I would LOVE to try out a good lineage port. This phone really needs a good ROM, because Touchwiz really sucks.

I can go to git and setup the build environment, I've been following your work and aapav rather closely. I would just need your brain to help me change the ram and cache values and whatever else needs adjusted. Then once finished I could send you the files for upload.

No i meant to cherry pick other developers commits and apply it to your repo ( cherry pick ) if you don't know how to do that i can't help since the most difficult part will be to patch the kernel...

I think I know what you're explaining. Can you give me a night to refresh my memory on kernel sourcing and setting up the environment? If it's too much for me I won't waste time, I'll just tell you it's out of my league.

you can start a bounty thread too, i'm sure this way many developers not only me will be interested on doing it
