I woke up couple of days ago and found my mobile stuck on a boot loop "Probably after installing a permission applictaion" i wanted to get out of it without losing the data as i didnt make backup recently.
I followed instructions by @nick sutrich in the Thread Flash OPO To Stock CyanogenMod 11s androidheadlines.com/2014/07/android-flash-oneplus-one-stock-cyanogenmod-11s.html
using nexus toolkit and CM-11.0-XNPH22R-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip.
Opened my phone into fastboot mood and ran the below commands from CMD:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash sbl1 sbl1.mbn
fastboot flash dbi sdi.mbn
fastboot flash aboot emmc_appsboot.mbn
fastboot flash rpm rpm.mbn
fastboot flash tz tz.mbn
fastboot flash LOGO logo.bin
fastboot reboot
I followed the instructions without the Lines "fastboot flash userdata userdata.img" and "fastboot flash userdata userdata_64g.img" and it worked for me and the OPO was back to life, i wanted to back it up so i tried to open the backup application but it seemed the device rooting was gone so i couldnt take a backup. I tried to find a way to root the device without losing the data but after restarting the device it again went to Bootloop and this time i cant get out of it even using the previous steps i used before.
Anyone can help me to get out of this without losing the data ?!

Exactly what are you wanting to back up? Apps? Personal data (images, music)? The ROM? All of the above?

Unfortunately you're probably right, I think you're gonna need to perform a proper full wipe including the user data. Your contacts should be synced with your Google account so they should be safe.

HI there. I want to update the latest OTA for UK (bought my phone from amazon.co.uk)
So I downloaded Blur_Version.174.44.9.falcon_umts.Retail.en.GB kitkat version since I have 4.4 and extracted it and tried to install stock recovery over not working TWRP. So I did fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
This is what I see in windoze terminal:
Code:
>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'recovery' (10240 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.375s]
writing 'recovery'...
This is what I see in fastboot:
Code:
cmd: getvar:partition-type:recovery
cmd: getvar:max-download-size
cmd: download:00a00000
cmd: flash:recovery
What could be wrong with not properly installing stock recovery?
Where can I get stock recovery for xt1032 bought from amazon.co.uk running kitkat?
I have no problem installing TWRP (which is buggy in my case and has not features of backing up or restoring).
It happens the same with Blur_Version.14.71.8.falcon_umts.Retail.en.GB jelly bean version.
Any ideas where I can get stock recovery for xt1032?
Found one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2616399
However I get the same as with previous ones:
Code:
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'recovery' (10240 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.378s]
writing 'recovery'...
Hmmm...no solution for your problem atm.
But you'll find the stock recovery in the zip you've downloaded.
So just extract recovery.img
....maybe something ist wrong with the partition.
If you want you can try to erase it:

If I erase partition, will fastboot flash recovery recovery.img recreate it? Or do I have to create it by hand before I try to flash new recovery?

I tried and it's the same. I can't flash stock recovery. It hangs at
Code:

So for me as I have rooted, unlocked bootloader and encrypted. The only solution for installing newst update that fixes loss of signal is to:
1) factory reset my phone -> loose encryption
2) try to install stock recovery afterwards?
or:
1) Follow this guide for installing stock recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47820707#post47820707
which will also have stock recovery or not? And do I have to factory reset before I perform this (due to my phone being encrypted) or not?
Doesn't factory reset needs working recovery?
With awesome user on @freenode, awesome user @utkanos helped me with ditching /data by making f2fs file system:
1) go to recover (in my case broken TWRP)
2) adb shell (from OS)
3) mkfs.f2fs /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/userdata (from OS)
All done. Reboot and you are out of encryption and all user data and apps. Will try to flash stock recovery now.
edit1: tried to flash it with fastboot command but it hanged like in all previous attempts. So I installed OTA even thoug I had philz recovery. The effect was like that that it went to philz recovery and wrote about this signature is not ok.... I taped ignore and it did go to a ahalf of bar progress and then just rebooted and went into system. After couple of seconds it just rebooted and the procedure repeated itself.
edit2: Managed to flash it with mfastboot.exe flash boot boot.img
mfastboot.exe flash recovery recovery.img
FINALYY! And then it installed update properly 176.44.1.en.GB rooted, unlocked
I bought this today and all I know is it's a 64gb One Plus and it was force closing every 2 seconds and basically not usable. After some searching I downloaded the One Plus toolkit and flashed it back to CM11s. It boots back up but I get the AudioFx has stopped every second. Some people have said you need to flash the sound zip and it will fix it. Well, I tried 2 different ones, med and high and still I get the force closing.
Then I found stock fastboot files and tried to bring it back to stock that way but I keep getting this when it gets to system:
checking product... OKAY [ 0.002s]
sending 'boot' (5606 KB)... OKAY [ 0.423s]
writing 'boot'... OKAY [ 0.091s]
ding 'recovery' (7458 KB)... OKAY [ 0.548s]
writing 'recovery'... OKAY [ 0.115s]
ding 'system' (774864 KB)... FAILED (remote: data too large)
I;ve tried this with multiple files and still get the same thing. I even restarted the computer a, updated the SDK and still can't do jack. I used the tool to flash back to CM11s, installed Twrp and tried to install a bone stock OTA rom by Caulkulin. I get failed to mount errors in recovery.
I'm stumped with this phone and need some help
thanks
edit: I know its not technically bricked, but its inoperable as a brick entails. I managed to flash all kinds of stock software, system images, etc but AudioFX still comes up.
Edit 2: I decided to flash a rom without audio fx, I choose Slim Kat, and it boots without the AudioFX but now it boots but after a few seconds will reboot. Over and over. Is this ONE Plus defective?

You can try format data from twrp this will do a clean install of OS but it will wipe whatever you have in you phone..but not the OS..This is different from data wipe..cache wipe..etc..It will prompt you to say yes or no if you want to wipe..

You can do that from fastboot with: fastboot format data ; but as stated, it WILL wipe everything on your device; copy your precious files to your pc.

I have a OPO Chinese 16GB version. When I bought it, it was running CM11S(Seller flashed it). Now I'm trying to wipe my phone and install cm-11.0-XNPH38R-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip on it. I have installed ADB Drivers on my Windows computer and when I type adb devices it shows me the serial number of the phone. And also when I type in fastboot devices, it shows me the serial number. But I can't get it to unlock the boot loader. When I type in the command, fastboot oem unlock, I can see the following message.
...
OKAY [ 0.002s]
finished. total time: 0.004s
But it does nothing after that. Even when I reboot, I can see all my previous apps, files etc. are there. It doesn't make any change. How can I get this phone to unlock the bootloader and allow me to install a custom recovery and let me flash the above file I have mentioned?

* The owner of the device told me it bricked after an update.
* The Bootloader is unlocked. When i tried to lock i got the following message:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
...
OKAY [ 0.041s]
finished. total time: 0.041s
But it wasnt persistent. When given reboot comand the phone switched OFF instead. I turned it on to bootloader again and it was still unlocked.
* I tried flashing stock rom LRX22c manually after a failed attempt with the flash-all script. I got the following error for bootloader, radio, boot and recovery:
Code:
FAILED (remote: flash write failure)
* I tried erasing cache and flashing userdata but the after over 60 minutes waiting i came to the conclusion that i wasnt going anywhere and just rebooted the phone.
*The only thing im actually able to flash without an error message is system.img:
Code:
fastboot flash system ~/Downloads/hammerhead-lrx22c/image-hammerhead-lrx22c/system.img
target reported max download size of 1073741824 bytes
erasing 'system'...
OKAY [ 0.127s]
sending 'system' (981472 KB)...
OKAY [ 30.934s]
writing 'system'...
OKAY [ 62.705s]
finished. total time: 93.767s
* I tried booting TWRP, but i was unable to mount the file system (perhaps because i wasnt able to flash it. i used "fastboot boot twrp.img").
Are phones technically able to get to splash screen or bootloader with a damaged NAND or EEMC chip? Im starting to consider the possibility of a hardbrick. Why would i be able to write system.img if that was the case though? Any help is welcome
===============================================
alright so im pretty sure its a hard brick. The emmc is dead. its a shame :/ guess ill just try to sell it for parts. I would delete this thread because its pretty useless, but i have created my account a few days ago, and i ddont know how to.
You've only flashed the system img?
Do all the img's one by one. Recovery, boot, system, radio, userdata. Then fastboot reboot

I have tried all of the imgs in their respective order. they all failed. i got the error
Code:
FAILED (remote: flash write failure)
. system.img was the only .img i was able to write, and i was wondering why. Also, when i try fastboot reboot the phone switches off. It doesnt reboot.
I got an xt1031 on ebay that was flashed to work on Page Plus. I have restored the ROM to falcon_KXB21.14-L1.57.zip but the baseband still says "VZW_CUST" and I get activation stuff when I start it up. How can I get this working like a regular xt1031 again? I am rooted, unlocked and have CWM installed. I also have a regular, working xt1031 if I need anything off of it.
I can't find any information about restoring baseband or anything like that. After flashing the stock ROM I restored the phone.

Factory Firmware Images are available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/general/index-moto-g-falcon-factory-firmware-t3110795
Flashing Tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219
I would start by only flashing the 'system.img.sparsechunk' files:
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk1 (CHANGE NAME TO MATCH ACTUAL FILE IN FOLDER)
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk2 (CHANGE NAME TO MATCH ACTUAL FILE IN FOLDER)
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk3 (CHANGE NAME TO MATCH ACTUAL FILE IN FOLDER)
mfastboot erase userdata
mfastboot reboot

Would that be more effective? Because I would be just as happy to flash the entire ROM again and start over if it would work as well.
Edit: nevermind I see what's going on now with the zip

My recommendation is for your safety. Messing with fastboot has destroyed many phones.
Code:
C:\Users\User\Desktop\New folder>mfastboot devices
'mfastboot' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

C:\Users\User\Desktop\New folder>mfasboot reboot

C:\Users\User\Desktop\New folder>mfastboot reboot

Everything seems to have gone well but I still get the activation screen and the baseband still has VZW_CUST.
Edit: Here are all of the files in the zip for my phone if that helps:
HTML:
boot.img
falcon_boost_user_4.4.4_KXB21.14-L1.57_57_release-keys-cid9.bat
falcon_boost_user_4.4.4_KXB21.14-L1.57_57_release-keys-cid9.xml
fsg.mbn
gpt.bin
logo.bin
mfastboot.exe
motoboot.img
NON-HLOS.bin
recovery.img
system.img_sparsechunk1
system.img_sparsechunk2
system.img_sparsechunk3
system.img_sparsechunk4
Now flash the Radio Firmware only. Use the following fastboot commands:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
The baseband says BOOST_CUST now but I am still getting these activation screens that I never get on my other boost phones.

From memory, I do recall Verizon software being present in the Boost Firmare Images. But you can delete certain apks to stop those activation screens appearing. If you install TWRP, you can use the file explorer to delete the folders. I will try to get the correct names soon, but you might be able to guess them - they are located in /system/priv-app
The weird this is that it is a boost/sprint app.
com.motorola.android.omadm.sprint.client

But I have a bunch of these phones and none of them do this. There are some activation apps, but they are never intrusive like this.
On one hand I'd like to get it to go away any way I can, but I would most prefer all of my devices to be set up the same. Is there anything I can do given that I have an identical model that is set up the right way? I don't know enough about how android partitions work to understand why flashing a stock ROM and resetting it wouldn't make it act exactly the same as my other devices that I have done the same with.

Those are the stock activation apps that are needed if you plan to use the phone. Typically, they "go away" or are "unseen" when the device is activated.
Sent from my XT1031
@HardOnChairs - Apologies, I got confused between Verizon and Sprint. There are no Verizon files in the Boost Firmware, only those for Sprint.
The conversion to PagePlus includes flashing the XT1028 Bootloader - so that's still the Bootloader you have. Flashing the XT1031 Boost Bootloader may be a necessary step, but if something goes wrong you have a brick on your hands.

I do still get activation alerts on my other ones but they are not intrusive and they can be disabled. All of the xt1031 phones I have are on wifi only. Does that mean that they are still "activated" from before? In that case is it possible to activate these two that I have without actually buying service for them?

I have managed to update the bootloader of one of my devices and it actually caused some issues. The display constantly glitches. This was when I was trying to update to bootloader to work on 5.x. Do you know where I can find the original bootloader for 4.x? I never managed to find it. Is it possible to pull it off of one of my other devices? Or do you know if that zip I got has the original one?

Be very careful with Bootloaders. You cannot go back now that you have upgraded. The display 'glitch' is caused by running KitKat ROM with a Lollipop Bootloader. Turn screen off once to stop it.

I see. Well that aside, thats a different phone altogether, is it possible for me to check which bootloader these new phones have? And if they are on the 1028, is it possible for me to go back to the 1031 KK version?

Check the Fastboot screen:
i) The 'hardware' way.
a) Unplug the USB cable and power off the phone.
b) Press and hold 'Volume down' then power on the phone.
c) Connect USB cable to your computer.
ii) The 'software' way.
a) Enable developer mode on the Moto G (Settings-> 'About Phone'. Tap 7 times on 'Build Number')
b) Enable USB debugging. (Settings -> 'Developer options' -> 'USB Debugging' -> check)
c) Connect phone to computer via USB, you should see a new ADB device detected and drivers installed.
d) Open Command Prompt or Terminal, navigate to the Firmware / ADB folder (i.e CD C:\motog_firmware ) and type:
Code:
adb reboot-bootloader
I don't know if you can safely flash the XT1031 KitKat Bootloader now that the phone has been converted to XT1028 - but it's likely considering that's the original Model of the phone.

So I should try reflashing motoboot.img? Is there a way to be sure that it is KK?

To be sure what is KitKat? v41.13 is 100% not a Lollipop Bootloader.
