What's the latest favorite for launchers? I use Go Launcher EX, but they really are adding alot of Go crap along with it anymore. I really like how many desktops it allows you to create, don't see near that many in other launchers. What do you guys like?

Nova

I've used NOVA, it's close, but Go Launcher Ex is still better.

Google now launcher. I like swiping to my left and have the info that I need.

2nd this, also from what I have observed its the least resource hungry launcher and has been the most responsive by far.

I've been using it for years and never have drain issues. If anything, I like to use it to tone down/turn off some of the transition animations to improve battery life

buzz launcher
by far the most customizable launcher and not overly draining has to be the Buzz Launcher withZooper widget which is so custoimizable. i have it on all my phones and tablets and you dont have have root.

Alternate launchers

If I use one of the alternate launchers available (LP, ADW, etc), and decide to go back to Sense, will my current setup be saved or will I have to redo it again?

You're current setup will remain the same. For example, if you setup folders/widgets in the Sense launcher, then install LauncherPro and setup widgets/folders in LauncherPro. Both settings will be saved. They're actually switchable - you can use Sense and switch to LauncherPro, and switch back to Sense.
When you install another launcher and press the "Home" key, a popup will ask which app you want to perform this action with, Sense or <other_launcher>. This popup will appear every time you hit the "Home" key while you're on the home screen until you check the "remember" box.
That's one of the best explanations I've ever seen

Good info. Can you use the Sense widgets with Launcher Pro? I used Launcher Pro on my old phone, and I'm still debating switching to it for the TBolt. While I like some of the features of Launcher Pro better, I'm also fond of some of the HTC widgets.
HTC widgets will not work with any alternate launcher, unfortunately.

what widgets are you wanting to keep...more than likely there is a better alternate somewhere in the market. That has been my experience anyways.
You can also back up your LPP settings as well... Not sure bout ADW.

I've been using Launcher Pro and never looked back
Launcher Pro and ADW Launcher are both extremely similar and offer nearly identical functionality.
Launcher Pro has a leg up with the sense-like widgets... but I honestly do not use many of them. I also like the swipe-able dock in LPP.
ADW is a solid launcher as well and I enjoy some of the features of ADW (different gestures, UI stuff).
I recommend trying both and seeing what you like best. And always support the developers... get Launcher Pro Plus or ADW Launcher EX.
Just a note... I found the app HomeSmack makes it very easy to switch between Home apps. I found it a pain on the T-bolt unless you have just installed a new home app.
This lets you pick which one you want to switch to and you can switch temporarily or set it as the default.
If you set it to remember an alternate launcher and want to change, how do you do it?

I'm also a big fan of Home Switcher for Froyo. I'm not sure how it differs from Home Smack, but it's a seamless process to switch between two launchers. That being said, I'm pretty much always on Launcher Pro.
Zeam Launcher is a nice simple Launcher with intuitive controls and it supports HTC widgets.
I liked LauncherPro on my Droid X, but I never used it much because It slowed the phone down ever so slightly.
Does LP cause any noticeable performance decrease or noticeable extra battery usage on the TB?

Go Settings -> Applications and find the launcher you set as default, select the 'clear defaults' button and when you hit Home again it should prompt what launcher to use.

Your comments about Zeam appear to be flawed... in no way does Zeam support HTC's widgets. No home replacement application can use HTC's widgets. While I'll give it to you that Zeam is a simple nice launcher that is a false statement
I forgot to mention one of the main reasons i started using launcherpro was that it can hide all the icons in the app drawer. Priceless

I've seen some of the alternatives already, although I particularly like the weather/clock combo widget with the weather animations. I'm mainly considering the cost/benefit of switching to another launcher, buying alternative widgets(Such as Beautiful Widgets), etc. I think I'll stick with Sense for now though, until I have a more compelling reason to change it.

[Q] Best Home Launcher for Gingerbread???

i just want to find out what peoples opinions are on home launchers. i am currently using GO Launcher EX and i have enjoyed it and seen a lot of progress on their part. i used Launcher Pro for a bit but there was not much development and they had a "paid" version that didnt really give you more options.. witch i paid for btw. ADW is alright.. it seemed kind of dirty and choppy..
give your input please.
I like LaunchePro a lot, lacks developing, but still I'm find it very fluid, like no other... I would like to switch I'm getting bored of my theme and the lack of options it offers. I can use some advice too.
cheers.
I was a Launcher Pro Plus user for the longest time, until I tried Go Launcher EX. I haven't turned back since. Go Launcher is awesome! Tons of features, and it has some great animations. I love the gesture feature as well. Def worth checking out. It's 100% free.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA Premium App
I would say ADW EX is the best out there. Simply amazing smoothness, fluid animations, theming support and excellent customisation options.
Sent from my Blade using XDA app
I second ADW Ex, it's great. And since development (and any communication from the dev) has stopped, LauncherPro has been left in the dust while other launchers have been adding features.
I don't trust the Go team or any of their apps. No ads, free apps, and permission for everything... makes me wonder how they make money.
I've been using the stock MIUI launcher for a while now, but ADW Ex is definitely the way to go if you don't have that.
Launcher for SGS2
If u are using a Samsung galaxy S2, I am sure that you all would love 2 home replacement apps .. The first one is touchwiz launcher (available in market) and the other one is Nemus Launcher ..
Touchwiz launcher is so similar to your stock UI. BUT it has additional options of having upto 5 custom shortcuts on dock and can even hide app labels on dock. App browser has options of 3d and highlighting running apps. The rest of it is just as the stock launcher. Best part is that it runs high scores on quadrant standard on gingerbread original.. my highest was 3800..
Nemus launcher is little known launcher but is one of the smoothest and best on galaxy s2. The app drawer is the best with hide app option and an amazingly cool fade to black of unused apps while scrolling in app drawer. This launcher can have upto 5 customizable docks. It is low on resources. Excellent scores in quadrant standard as well...
Launcher 7 overall takes less ram and I think its rather fast and smooth than any other launcher I have tested even wen I underclock its still prety smooth

I would suggest Go launcher ex(has tons of features)
Go Launcher ex and ADW launcher ex are my favourites. Back when it was still being worked on by Mr.Carnales, launcher pro was beastly... but those days are gone :/
SS launcher is different.
I loved the fluid movement of TSF shell, took some time to get used to though.
go launcher and adw launcher are the best..
I like ADWLauncher Ex , because it has a nice interface .
Advantages:
Highly Customizable Home replacement application
5 different app drawer styles/behaviors
3D Nexus One like application drawer
2 different plain vertical drawer styles, the “old one” and a new fast and smooth one
2 different Iphone-like horizontal application drawers, a traditional paginated one and a new one with continuous fling
Different desktop transitions: new animations while navigating through your desktop screens. Try them all, they’re crazy!!!
New Icons configurations/look and feel: Tweak your desktop icons, change its sizes, add coloured backgrounds, change font size, color, etc!
New fast presets mode: Quickly change the whole desktop configuration by 1 click!
Editable desktop icons for applications, shortcuts and folders!
Lots of code improvements
Lots and more . That's why i love ADWLauncher Ex and i've been using it for like 1 year already . The launcher is kinda awesome though . I donated to the developer to support them .

TSF-Shell is nice and fast, especially with mobile that have limited resources such as SGS I (512 RAM), but if you're looking for real features you are definitely not pointing to TSF-Shell... Yet it ain't fair to compare Go Launcher EX and TSF-Shell as each launcher has his own specs + each user will use the launcher that best fits his needs, some needs a fast launcher and that would come over the features it will have, and others are looking for features despite some lag of performance...

Highly recommend Nova Launcher for S3

Hey folks,
I highly recommend replacing the touch Wiz launcher with nova launcher. I have found it much more intuitive, and much easier to use. (I am not affiliated with Nova in any way.)
Several advantages:
1. The bottom bar (dock) of apps is highly customizable, with as many apps as you choose. You can also create multiple pages of docked apps, so it's possible to access 10 or 15 apps on the lower dock.
2. The App drawer is automatically alphabetized, unlike touch Wiz, which I find so much easier to use. There are of course workarounds on touch Wiz, but why bother? I just dock the icon for the app drawer on the lower dock so it's always available.
3. Nova has one step back up of your screen layouts so that if you are wiping your phone regularly in order to reflash ROM's, it's trivial to reset your screen layouts by doing a restore from nova. This saves a lot of tweaking time.
4. You can customize the layout of your desktop with variable margins, a persistent search bar on all pages, gestures, and with nova launcher prime ($4), you also get unread counts for SMS, missed calls, and Gmail, which is very nice.
5. Basically everything is customizable and modifiable. I greatly prefer it over the stock touch Wiz launcher. Check out the free version of nova, as it has virtually all the features other than the unread counts.
I personally prefer apex but I can see the appeal in nova. They are pretty similar.

I tried Apex but had a super annoying rendering hug that would display a box on the main home screen for a split second...
Not even considering that I spent a few hours tweaking Apex for a few hours (loved that it had so many options) but 90% of the Nova defaults were perfect for me and after going from Apex to Nova was convinced that it was right for me.

Just fyi... the "work around" to get the app drawer alphabetized is clicking the menu button with the app drawer open and then clicking, "view type" and switching to alphabetized. Not exactly complicated. Or even a work around.
Nova is great, but I'm actually enjoying touchwiz. I do want to switch over and play with nova more... But eh, not seeing a huge need. Coming from sense (which I hated) I'm quite happy on tw.

Any idea what's up with the widget selector for Nova? I click on the widgets tab and instead of the expected widget drawer I get a list of widgets similar to ginger bread.
Is this a feature that's unlocked with nova prime? Or is that widget drawer option something different? Other than that Nova is pretty sweet!

Apex and Nova are both based on the stock 4.0.x ICS launcher, so they're very similar, but Apex gives more features for free.
You're definitely making a mistake if you use Go Launcher or ADW or LauncherPro on this phone, since those are Gingerbread-based. The ICS launcher is just a much, much better base.

Nova or Apex they are really similar. or you could get TSF Shell
I am old school ... ADW
With all this talk of Nova and Apex I keep thinking I should give them a try. Is anyone familiar with ADW, Nova, & Apex that could tell me the main differences?
Apex or if you don't care about battery life, Nova.
I'm going to have to vote for TouchWiz. I actually purchased both Apex and Nova and found them to be lacking the fluidity that TW has. I feel like there's too much "circle-jerking" around the TW launcher and that most people would actually be satisfied if they just gave it a shot.
But hey, if you really don't like it and want to retain the Android 4.0 look, I'd go with Apex. Otherwise I would recommend GO Launcher EX. It's clean, simple, and feature-packed.
the first launcher i tried was apex, and i havent found a reason to try another.
After using ADW, Apex, Nova and others I personally recommend TSF Shell. It is a launcher unlike any other "android" experience. It gives you full control of your workspace, apps, and gestures. It will set you back some 16 dollars but I have never been more satisfied with a launcher.
Differences:
Apex and Nova are ICS based launchers both fluid, good, customizable and rock solid. They both offer smooth Android 4.0+ Transitions and even branch on Jellybean animations as well. They both offer unread notification support.
ADW and GoLauncher are launchers based around homescreen customization and easability. Performance is typically good for older devices.
TSF: A 3D UI Launcher with dazzling effects and functionality as well as maintaining all the features of the ICS launchers. Unread icons, a simple navigation UI and a slide-able dock. This launcher is the epitimy of what all launchers should offer as far as functionality and usability.

My thoughts exactly!
I have tried the other launchers and have an issue with my wallpaper not scrolling when I switched home screens. My wallpaper is there on my home page, but when I moved side to side, it just goes black. Is there anything in the settings on the various launchers that fixes this?
I LOVE the touchwiz launcher, its fast, light, and stable. I really like Holo Launcher HD, for the same reasons. Don't like GO EX, yes, it has the most features, but has too many "ads" and is bulky and slow.
I've been digging the CM10 trebuchet launcher.

Hey guys,

Nova is much more customizable and it allows you to disable animations. It feels faster than Google Launcher, but Google Launcher falls in with a close second place to me.
