TB not working on 1-16-15 nightly - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having issues with Titanium Backup on the latest nightly.
It installs and it gets root fine, but restores just hang at the first app forever.
Anyone else tried a TB restore after flashing cm-12-20150116-NIGHTLY-bacon.zip?

Did you click on the pop-up that asks if you want Google to inspect the sideloaded apps?
I missed that pop-up one time and it was just waiting for an interaction before it started restoring

I could not do it on 20150106-NIGHTLY without installing SuperSu. With SuperSu TB warks fine.

@Psichi
I don't even get to this point.
@elmerq
I hate that. I was using supersu before and it was causing all kinds of issues between it and the superuser that's baked in.
Is there anyway to update the binary on the baked in superuser?

No idea :/
I have just bought 1+1 and found only this way to use TB.

Flashing Chainfire Supersu did the job.
This is big a problem for CM roms imo. It's fine to have superuser preinstalled. But, there needs to be a way to use an alternate su app that doesn't cause issues.

Try this app instead:

[Q] [Solved] ROM Manager & Rom Toolbox both freezing requiring force close

For some reason that I can't fathom or find a solution for (search is also temporarily unavailable) both ROM Manager and Rom Toolbox refuse to do anything. I can't boot into recovery, backup a ROM, restore a ROM or download a ROM from within these apps. I can boot into recovery via the power button and make backups that way but am non-plussed as to why they have stopped working. Is it a super-user issue? I've not seen a super-user request/notification come since installing the apps.
Bantaumod CM9 Kangs
glados2.8
Nexus I9020
try fastboot flashing recovery then flash different rom to see if problem persists
Ok will do. The only way I can do anything at all at the moment is via clockwork recovery.
I was getting an issue initially where it was telling me I needed to purchase the premium version even though it was already installed but that isn't happening anymore now.
Anytime I see the issue youre having I do two things. First fix permissions. Then I install busybox and superuser. Hope this helps
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I tried fixing permissions but that just sat there ding nothing as well. Busybox and Superuser were installed.
I tried a different Drew Garen ROM and everything now works as it should. Was this likely to be a daily with the ROM itself or just my installation of it? I tried re-flashing a backup of it but the problem was still there.
Thanks for your help
I've just flashed the Orca Project ROM on my phone and Rom Toolbox works but ROM Manager won't!
Am I right in thinking that upon starting each app for the first time they should request superuser access and I should get a prompt?
have you had any issues with that rom?
Having the same problem, but only with Toolbox. I haven't gotten it to work on my ROM... That or any overclocking apps. The over clocking apps give me a boot literally a minute into turning my phone on over and over again.
I flashed orca and rom manager works great
Sent from my Nexus S
I had to flash/install a different version of Superuser that someone in a different thread gave me. Now everything works a treat.

[Q] (Q) Uninstalling unused apps with TiBu

I've been using Titanium Backup for a long time. I'm a crack flasher. AOSP....TW....doesn't matter. Pros and Cons to all. Within the last couple of weeks I've noticed iam unable to uninstall the apps I normally junk when trying a fresh ROM. They appear to uninstall....repeat, same result.... only to find they are still present. I could just freeze them but I'd rather junk em.
Anyone have any input on this??

Which roms have you noticed this problem with? I use SlimKat and I noted this same issue with the built-in SuperUser app in Settings. After flashing SuperSU in recovery, I haven't had this issue going on about a month now with either SuperSU v1.91 or v1.93. I flash SlimKat, gapps, SuperSU then boot. TiBu uninstalls pesky System apps without the slightest hesitation now.
I'm on the latest CM11 now. I was on the latest PacRom yesterday.... same issue, along with other unrelated issues. Its been about a month since I SlimKatted my phone. I think its only been an issue on AOSPs....recently though.

Hmm, have you been installing SuperSU and experiencing this issue? If not, give it a try and see how it works out on CM11 or Pac.
K. Tks.

Bootloop after Android Pay install

Wanted to try Android Pay. Am a SPH-G925P on stock OH1 rooted with UniKernel v8 and TWRP. Disabled SuperSU, downloaded and installed Android Pay. Added my first card and got a message that an app was blocking screen access to the app. Thought it might be my Apex Launcher. Went back to stock TouchWiz launcher, same message. Made sure Adblock was off (it was because it couldn't acquire root). Rebooted and got softbrick.
Figured Android Pay had messed something up. Wiped cache and Dalvik in TWRP, still stuck. Restored my TWRP backup from 2 weeks ago, no joy. Reflashed Unikernel v8, still stuck at Sprint Splash.
Any thoughts on what rebooting with SuperSU disabled messed up? Next up is reflashing stock OH1 and/or factory reset, but thought there might be an easier fix.

I'll try that. As expected, flashing stock OH1 fixed it. I'll get TWRP and root (excuse to go to UniKernel v9) back on and update everything and make a fresh backup before I try again. That will make it easier if it softbricks again.

Hey Sooop, just about ready to try Android Pay install again. Searching found that Lux brightness app may be the culprit for blocking screen access. Wanted to check with you. When you disabled su, which version of Unikernel and which firmware were you using? Did you disable su, reboot, install Pay, then re-enable su?

I'm on OH1 and I did full unroot then setup cards then was able to use. I couldn't get it to work after rerooting. But the good thing is being that the kernel is rooted, you can use it, then simply reboot and you're rooted again. I have to unroot from the su app when I use it

Got it. That makes sense from what Google posted about the use of their app and why it would never work with rooted devices. With the new chip embedded credit cards, and requirements for merchants to have terminals that accept them, I may just stay old school. Can't see having to unroot and reboot every time I want to use it. Although, I could probably use NFC Retag and Tasker to use my credit card to both initiate unroot and then reboot the device once I had paid.

[HELP] Honor 8 rooted on Nougat, but can't delete system apps!

Hi guys. First of all sorry if i'm writing in the wrong section. I have a problem with my Honor 8 (FRD-L09) updated to Nougat. Today i've decided to unlock the bootloader and root it. I managed to unlock the phone via Huawei official unlock bootloader method, then i've pushed the latest twrp (3.1.0-1-frd) by cmd. All was going fine. After that i've probably downloaded an old version of Superuser, the phh SuperUser r275 and installed it. I've downloaded Phh's Supersu application from playstore, installed busybox (by Jrummy) and i was able to use various apps that required supersu just fine. But i faced a lot of problems when trying to uninstall system apps. For example, i wished to uninstall "Maps" with System app remover and it shows me that the app was correctly uninstalled and in fact it disappeared from the list, then i rebooted and the app was still there! Tried again with System app remover with the same app and this time even if the app showed "successfully uninstalled" it was still there. Then i tried Root Essentials, Titanium Backup, Root Explorer, SD Maid but i was unlucky with them all. Always problems and errors. In particular, Root Explorer, after mounted the system for r/w, shows "unable to delete the file". These problems appears with all the system apps. I don't know what's going on, i've never had this problems with my old S2 plus. Hope some of you can help me. What i have to do? Uninstall phh's superuser? If yes how can i do it? Can't find any uninstaller zip around the web. Or i need to install "SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815-EMUI5.0" attached in the TWRP post? Can i overwrite phh's superuser script with this? Is safe? Will it work? I'm very desperate, please help me.
P.S. I basically followed this guide: "http://www.theandroidsoul.com/root-honor-8-nougat-twrp-phh-superuser/" but using the new twrp. Don't ask me why...i can't explain why i did this stupid thing.
Rooting the honor 8 just sucks. It's pretty much a crapshoot.
Try the TWRP and special SuperSU from this thread, and let me know if it works.

I'm in the same boat, I rooted nougat before but didn't actually have r/w permissions. So I've been waiting to re-root until huawei patched their bugs, but it doesn't seem like that will happen.
Best of luck.

It worked! With this version of supersu i was able to unistall all those useless system apps! I just flashed it by twrp overwriting the previous one and it uninstalled phh'supersu app and installed chainfire's one. Everything seems to work flawlessy thank you. Just wondering if there's a way to remove the annoyng screen at startup that advise that the device can't be trusted. . .

That is a product of unlocked bootloader and happens on every phone no matter the brand. It can't be removed

Barclays Mobile App NOT working on Rooted S8

Hello there
I am running a custom ROM on my Galaxy S8 and it is rooted using Magisk rather than SuperSU. SnapChat works fine with Magisk as it does not detect the root, however I've tried everything with the Barclays Mobile App but I just get stuck on the first screen and nothing happens afterwards.
At first it used to ask me to grant it root permissions and of course I did, but it has never actually worked.
I am not completely sure, but I have a feeling it has to do with the fact that my device is rooted.
Can someone please shed some light on this? I really need to get this application working as it is important for me. Do I have to go back to completely stock in order to use this application?
Thanks!
yes, it doesn't work on rooted devices. One of the ways that it tries to detect root is by trying to get root, as it happened in you case. By granting it root access, you marked your phone as rooted, and disabled the app. In case you were wondering, it has many other ways to detect root. It used to work with magisk hide, but I tried just today, and it seems that they can detect it too, as I can't use it anymore. By the way, your phone is flagged as rooted, and you will either have to do a factory reset to get it working, or call Barclays, but I think that there is no way to get it working. If you find out how to get it to work, please share it.
