Hey guys
So I've had and have been loving my edge for only 3 days - and all of a sudden the soft keys are dead. They light up as per usual when you unlock etc, but are dead to the touch..
Just wondering if there is an option somewhere that enables/disables them? Is there a function test mode that will allow me to determine if it's hardware or a bug following an update?
Any info would be hugely appreciated!
J
Not sure if this help....try switch off the power saving mode.

If the buttons still work but don't light up, make sure you don't have power saver on. If they don't work at all, then I'd return the device. And get a new one

I recently had my T-Mobile PPC Phone edition repaired after some months of nonuse. I had repalced it with an HP6315 - Lots of problems with the 6315 caused me to return to my PPC Phone. When it was returned from repair. The ROM seemed to be missing several features. No longer has a slider for back light brightness adjustment when on battery power. Buttons only shows 2 buttons rather then 4. and there is no lock to prevent button use without pressing the power button first. The service man told me I was getting the PPC confused with the hp 6315 and these features were never available on the PPC. Please help and advise me if he is right so I can apologize and resolve this issue.
Thanks

ROM 4.01.16 ENG
Windows Mobile 2003 version 4.20.0 (build13252)
I have not seen the ability to adjust backlight, you can lock the buttons though so the only way to switch on is with the power switch, however I understand this was only avaliable under certain roms and was under the @[email protected] setting on phone settings. I dont know which buttons you are referring to so cant help you there.
Hello all,
Having lots of fun with the Touch Pro - sent to me by mistake by the retailer, when I paid for a much cheaper Diamond. Yay! Anyway...
I am an old time pathaway user, was previously using it on a Palm TX, and have migrated this to the Touch Pro. Currently on Pathaway 4.
When I enter pocket mode, the slightest touch of the volume key wakes the phone back up.. thus draining the battery and defeating the object of it being screen off and max battery life in my pocket. Anyone know how to fix this? Is there a way of disabling the volume keys etc while I use pocket mode?
Has anyone else suffered this problem - or seen it fixed by version 5 (I might upgrade if it is fixed..)
Many thanks
Geoff
I've been searching for awhile now...
I have disabled my lock screen. Now the problem I'm having is the phone wakes with any of my hard buttons. Does anybody know how to disable the phone waking with any button other than power?
Thanks!
Well what phone/OS are you using? I'm pretty sure cyanogen has options for that, but everything is slightly different on each different phone and OS.
Hey guys,
strange and frustrating problem. I was using my phone pretty extensively today (although nothing crazy), mostly thanks to Pokemon Go. Tonight after using my phone normally, I went to press the power button to turn the screen off and nothing happened. I was able to reboot (by changing one of the long-press actions to bring up the power menu via GravityBox) and then was unable to power on the phone. It seems like my hardware power button has suddenly become unresponsive. This leaves me unable to power on/off the phone, including booting into the bootloader. Also, I seem to be unable to wake my phone up by double tapping the screen or swiping up.
The phone otherwise functions fine. If I get a notification, the screen wakes up and I can use the phone. Otherwise, the only way I've been able to get into the phone is by connecting it to a computer and issuing ADB commands. The IR blaster functions fine which makes me think it's not the hardware button?
Has this happened to anyone else before? Can the power button just break like that without any water / physical damage? The fact that I also can't wake the screen makes me think it's a software issue. One other thing I suspect is that my phone abruptly died yesterday (battery died despite software thinking it still had juice left). In the past, with the modified kernel / rom, this has resulted in some nasty issues, including 4G not working and the Android system process basically exploding. I thought I lucked out when I powered it on after that, but maybe it just took a day for this issue to manifest itself.
I'm going to make a NANDROID backup and try flashing a few different things to see if I can fix it. I'll post my progress here.
Current build:
- Verizon M8, S-OFF
- TWRP
- Android GPE 6.0 (MRA58K.H13)
Edit: I haven't been able to find a fix. I'm a bit afraid to try a full RUU since I can't use the hardware keys to reboot into the bootloader should something go wrong. It may just be that my PWR hardware button is f'd which really sucks. I'm not sure I'm up to cracking open the phone to fix it. In the meantime I downloaded an app called Gravity Screen On/Off which uses the phone's proximity sensor to wake the screen up and it seems to work ok for now.
Hi - i am a newbie to Android and have purchased a Galaxy S7 edge that is running a Samsung authorised Nougat Beta. Forgive me if this is wrong thread but help would be appreciated.
The phone still has 16 months warranty.
I spent a day configuring apps and understanding how to adjust settings etc and was really pleased with how well i had done and with phone and OS. i deliberately left it overnight with a low charge after my days work to see if any charge would be left overnight. Unsurprisingly there was not so had to recharge and boot up from fully powered down. When it came back to life i discovered that under these circumstances the fingerprint reader does not work and the password was required. There in was first problem as password was not recognised. i know 99.99% its the correct one as i use it on another secure site and am pretty sure when setting up Android Pay i needed to enter it to verify fingerprint reading option.
after a lot of head scratching and trying all amnner of variables and alternatives gave up and opted for factory reset. Pressing the combination of 3 buttons did nothing although my understanding was that it should be from a powered off state which was impossible to achieve as power button would only put phone into standby with date and time displayed on black screen. i eventually found 3 button press using volume down gave me a screen which seems to be downloading new software which i am guessing is new version of OS. its been doing it for over an hour now with no clue as to what progress.
can anyone give me ideas how to get phone back to life.
many thanks
