[ROM] [DEV] CyanogenMod 12 for T310 - Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 Android Development

CYANOGENMOD 12 for T310
Here I present to you CM12 for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8 inch T310.
Please take note that this is a very early release and there are stills many bugs. I most likely will not respond to any bug reports for now, so don't waste our time filling the thread with bugs reports. If you know how to fix a bug, then by all means, please share that info here in the thread.
I do not have time to work on this every day, so please be patient and do not ask for ETAs.
Attention T311 and T315 owners:
Currently I am only building for the T310. If I get it to a stable point, I MAY build for you guys. Please do not ask about that for now.
I do not guarantee that I can fix any of the remaining issues. I do not pretend to be an advanced developer and I do this in my spare time, so feel free to use my device tree and compile some builds on your own.
Lastly, this would not be possible without the efforts of @ketut.kumajaya. All device specific source code is forked from his github.
Please do not fill the thread asking "is blah blah is working?" Download and test for yourself.
Major Component Status:
WiFi - Working
Bluetooth - Working
Sound - Working
Sensors - Most Working
[*]Camera - Partially Working
Videos - Working
Installation:
Ensure that have already are using the KitKat firmware. If not, download it from sammobile.com and flash it with Odin.
Ensure you have the latest version of your custom recovery.
Make a backup.
Perform a factory reset in recovery.
Flash the CM12 zip.
(Optional) Flash a Gapps (Google apps) package.
Reboot and Enjoy.
Be patient, the first boot takes about 3 minutes. Much longer if you flash a Gapps package (~10 min).
After installation, go to Settings -> Language & Input -> Current Keyboard and select the Hardware option.
This will allow the on-screen keyboard to display properly.

Boots up great!!! Took about 7 minutes with gapps.
Note: Don't try the CM Camera Fix...it breaks boot!!!
Great start!! But we always knew a 'Nole could get er done,!!!
Edit: Just restored 60 apps and data using TiBu....no problems.

I thought this gonna never come to us, the tablet owners... But I made a mistake... It did :cyclops:

I noticed that Root Access is disabled by default in Developers Options. I have tried my apps with it disabled and activated and it doesn't seem to make any difference.

The only root app I've used so far is the included file manager and it worked fine with root access.

Thank you for all your time and effort in porting cm12.
Feedback: fast and smooth, had some issues with play movies and TV f/c also spmc/kodi fails to play any videos.
Apart from that everything is running beautifully.

Which Gapps did you use? I used the latest nano, and Google App and Setup Wizard are constantly crashing. I've reinstalled twice.

I used pa stock 5.01 beta 7 if that helps

I've tried both. This is definitely frustrating. I was coming from a rooted, but otherwise stock, setup. Philz will load CM but not Gapps. TWRP will load gapps but not CM. I've been doing this for a long time (even running a custom rom on my G Watch), but I feel like a newb. Is there something obvious I'm missing here?

The only thing I can think of is either you're not on 4.4 firmware or you need to update your TWRP to 2.8.3.
Sent from my SM-T310 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Stock might be your problem as parrothead has suggested. I flashed it over gr8nole latest cm11 dated the 15th Jan.
Philz touch/factory reset and voilà.

Works great, I flashed it on twrp 2.8.3 over SlimKat. If anyone have problem with correct root works, disable root in developer settings and flash supersu in recovery. It helps me in 2 apps.

Woot! That's all I have to say!

4.3 mini-FAQ
Q) I'm stuck at the boot logo and/or a boot loop!
A) Make sure you use TWRP 2.5.0.2. TWRP 2.6 and other recoveries can cause boot loops & hangups
Q) Root doesn't work!
A) From a clean build you need to enable root access for Superuser itself. This is different from 4.2.2 in which Superuser by default had root access on a new install. To do this, go to Settings -> Developer options -> Root access. If an app attempts to request root access before Superuser itself has access, it may cause problems with that app in the future where root requests are silently denied.
Q) Titanium Backup isn't restoring apps!
A) Change the backups folder to storage/emulated/legacy.
If you use Philz recovery 5.10.0 you must upgrade to 5.11.0 or you will lose radio!
Since the SGS4 is so new, development is happening very rapidly. This should be taken into consideration when flashing any 4.3 AOSP-based builds on the device. Known issues will be listed here.
Well I downloaded the Verizon version yesterday and was just getting ready to install on my ATT device. Good thing I logged in before wiping. Downloading now.

This is not actually up-to-date any longer. Check the features section on the website.
I was really hesitant to upgrade to 4.3 because I am tired of buggy ROMs. (Nothing wrong with buggy ROMs as I am not forced to run them). But I was having major issues with the no volume on calls bug on slim version 8 and older. Once 4.3 was released it was clear that development would stop on the other ROMs so I figured that I had better join the 4.3 party. I am very impressed. Beta 2 has been flawless for me so far. Only issue I had was with superuser and even after going into SU and setting to "apps and adb" I still was having issues with titanium backup not restoring. Switched to SuperSU and have zero issues. I did notice that torch took a really long time to light up the first time but seems to be good now. Great job on the ROM.

Titanium Backup would say Restoring [whatever], and never complete? That's the issue that I'm still running into, even with a fresh install of TiBU. Using SuperSU solved it for you?

Depends on what do you use your phone for? If it's just for talking, texting, internet, and taking random pictures then it's enough for you. If not you have to wait since many apps still don't support 4.3 yet.

~NIGHTLIES ARE UP!! ~
CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.4, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
~DISCLAIMER~
* Your warranty is now void. *
~I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,

~Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM

CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. First Timer? Full wipe of system, data cache and dalvic is a must before flashing cm11 for the first time, then flash gapps..
Repeat Offender? Only wipe cache and dalvik..
This ROM is stable for the most part with audio, data, wifi and such all working..The builds will be stronger,more stable and full of features as things get worked out and features implemented..
You can find and download the newest updates (once you are on the rom) by going to settings/about phone and tapping Cyanogenmod Updates..It will allow you to download and install all in one step.
~~~ART IS NOW AVAILABLE AS AN OPTION~~~
ART (the new Android Runtime) is now available for use with this device.It helps with performance and overall stability of the rom. It is still early and if there are any issues you may come across while using it, you are welcome to switch back to dalvik until it has some more time to get smoothed out..Some apps are NOT ART compatible yet..Its seems more only an issue if restoring backups or side loading..some apps will not install by side load until they are updated..if you are already running art then feel free to only wipe cache and dalvic before flash..if you choose to have your device run dalvic (normally) and have full access to your app backups and/or full app compatibility that's fine as well and the flash process would be the same as above..if you are wanting to see what art is all about, I do recommend a full wipe so there is no app issues on boot..in that case full wipe, flash ROM and gapps..reboot..change to art in developer options..it will reboot and take a hot minute to optimize the apps..then you will not need to do it again when you flash alpha 4. YOU NEED TO RUN THE UPDATED GAPPS PACKAGE IF CONVERTING TO ART AS IT IS OPTIMIZED FOR THAT PURPOSE...
More info to come..
Work in progress..
~I do all this for the "Thanks", but a little beer helps me work better. (And I could use one. )...~
Thanks to those who have donated to me through my projects....
mine....
Just one more for good measure..
THANKS
At last the official N. is here.. thanks ink.........for the hard. work..
:good:
I blindly installed this with CM updater not realizing that it was 11 not 10! I'll do a full wipe and reinstall soon, just noting that wifi doesn't turn on now though a reinstall will fix it I bet.
Awesome work!
Yea I noticed the same thing, if you do a dirty flash or even just restore data from 10.2 it breaks the WiFi. Everything else works great.
Incase anyone curious..if there was any issues upgrading the nightly, check android version number in about phone..its now 4.4.2...I have also noticed that after updating with cmupdater, after the flash, one should boot into recovery by button combo and wipe cache and dalvic before allowing to boot..seems to help with any issues..
I'll try that later and see if it fixes the broken WiFi after updating.
Are you using an adblock app?
Edit: Mine works fine but then again, I flashed the 4.4.1 minimal gapps from slim last night..Either way, YouTube is a Google app..not built into the ROM..so the bug lies there (if you aren't using a adblocker..because that DOES interfere)..
Welcome to CMB Roms- CM done Better... Dark Themed for his/her Pleasure
Why CMB?
We are just better , in a nutshell we set out to give you the best of CM, with none of the annoying features (see list below), all this wrapped in a custom black theme. We used the KISS principal when deciding what to offer, we based our frameworks on CM alone (not FrankenFrameworks like some others out there), enabling us to provide updates and bug fixes as soon as CM does. This doesn't mean we are only relying on them for development, it just eases merging.
Features
Based on Android 4.4.1_r1, CM11.0
All current features CM11.0
Customized Dark Holo Theme With Gray ActionBars
Dark Mms
Dark Calendar
Dark Contacts
Ramdisk security tweaks, you can adb as root now!
Bash "tab to complete"
I am very pleased to offer a custom rom for the LG G2 (D801)! This should be considered and early preview as there may or may not be some bugs, and rom tweaks (like theme) maybe forthcoming.
Special Thanks to @djrbliss for his bootloader patch LOKI this wouldn't be possible without it!
Special Thanks to @houstonn for his amazing kernel work!
Ok my G2 D801 crew this is legit. In 2 days I was able to see Drgravy and team put out all of this.
***I have personally used both recoveries with 0!! Issues!!. I have rebooted in recovery and flashed cwm made back up and rebooted_ Them flashed twrp made back up and rebooted. Both able to restore 4.3.1, 4.4.1 and 4.4.2, Also able to flash between this version of CM11 and PA without any script errors or any other BS.
****Also TWRP wipes are back to normal speed_ no more using rm and rf and bootloops.
As far as CMB RC2 I have been running for 2 hours with no issues. No settings bug, exvellent battery and all butter.
Dugout forget about Blacked out UI, YOU NEED TO EXPERIENCE THIS ON IPS Display. Simply Awesome! ¡ 4
ok just traded my note 3 for g2 couldnt stand the lag
I love this phone. Now we have way more dev support. I have had it since 1st couple of weeks and we had 2 roms in the beginning no aosp based. Then androiduser built a couple and well here we are. The devs we have are freakin awesome! and a couple custom kernels devs now as well. Its just beginning....
Sent from my LG-G2 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
every thing seem to work on this rom , awesome work , fast , black ui , and more
Everything seems to be working great except animation that lag which also present on all cm11 ROMs but to get rid of that just go to dev options and put animation on no animation then it almost instant app opening . oh and battery life seems damn good deep sleeping like a baby almost good as stock .
Sent from my LG-D801 using Tapatalk 2
new build in post #3
fixes the lag in animations
Anyone notice the in call volume not being able to be lowered? Its really loud for some reason but otherwise awesome ROM. Updating to latest build now.
I had some users error issues. lol I was trying to get root and forgot that you have to enable it in the developer options. Then installed 4.4.1 gapps so I started over. Then now just made a call and have the known echo bug.
Thanks for the Rom!
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I "dirty flash" updates to Paranoid Android?
A: Usually, yes! I will try to make a special note next to the download section when clean flashes are recommended, however I am not perfect and may forget. Please always read the information in the latest Changelog to avoid any hassle.
Q: The Paranoid OTA app says my gapps need updated. Is this really necessary?
A: Nope! Google Apps are automatically updated via the Play Store, and therefore do not need to be updated manually. Additionally, if "dirty flashing" a new version, Paranoid Android automatically backs up Google Apps and restores them, so they are not necessary. However, when clean flashing (if you manually wiped the system partition), it is recommended that you use the latest gapps from the Paranoid OTA app.
Stay Paranoid!
I love how stable AOSPA has been for me in the past. I've had the least amount of issues running it. Only thing I would love to see is quiet hours built in like CM11 and notifications on the lock screen like Carbon. Other than that, I can't wait for 4.4.3 to come out.
One thing I want to point out before it does come out is CM11 is having an issue with aftermarket kernels when it comes to changing the LED; it causes Settings to FC. Now on Ayysir's builds this never worked but if someone else were to attempt this, maybe they can look into that before syncing with CM11 and releasing the next version?
I'm having no trouble with lean kernel 9.7
I haven't really used PA a lot, but I've always liked it. (My devices were always crappy, unsupported devices) Does PA usually support lockscreen notifications, like PAC-man does?
Not officially, but there are apps on the app store that do this.
Here is a popular one (free version, paid offers more features): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.knock.knock.demo
I dirty flashed from the previous build and had no issues. However, my friend clean flashed and did not have a keyboard. We had to flash the previous build and then dirty flash the new one. The MD5 sums of the ROM and GApps were both correct.
Where do to go to change your answers to those, "ask me again later", questions?
Yes you can certainly try dirty flashing if you want. I'm just passing on what the PA team recommended in the Changelog.
Sometimes flashes just Bork and you have to try again. Also using custom kernels can introduce more bugs sometimes.
Glad you both got it working!
Yes that's the latest right now. With that package you should at least have the stock AOSP keyboard. Not sure why it's not working. If you really want a clean flash, you could try using the stock gapps package, or add in the Google Keyboard with the full modular package to see if that helps.
Three devices (d2vzw ML1) all loaded PA 4.4 Beta1 (with PA kernel).
Got through initial setup, then loaded KT 06-03 AOSP kernel; no problem.
One (mine - work phone) will not boot with KT kernel.. again, same install procedure..
> adb shell
- exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -
All devices were previously running TW (old&slow 4.3) - with KT.
Suggestions?
(boots with lk for KK - fwiw..)
---------- Post added at 11:51 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:33 AM ----------
4.4 Beta 1 - TIBU complains about su binary being out of date..
Suggests SuperSU..
It will boot and run w/ lk; but that stutters when I'm typing; running with the default PA kernel till I can work out a resolution.
I've always used LK with no problems. I suggest trying the newest lk 9.7
Unfortunately I have no experience with KT, so I can't speak to it directly
I was a little confused in the OP, does this have hover, but not theme manager?
Welcome to the OFFICIAL thread of Validus Lollipop for the SM T310 better known as lt01wifi, Build's are usually updated on a weekly or wheneverwefeellikely basis. I am NOT the Developer of this ROM, I am just a graphics guy on Team Ground Zero. All credit goes to Team Ground Zero and all our hardworking Devs. Team Ground Zero is built upon the willingness to learn, create and socialize on Android. Creators of Validus, a custom AOSP ROM with many features created in house as well as pulled from CyanogenMod, SlimROMs, Paranoid Android and others. Members are also dev/maintainers for other popular ROMs. Enjoy your stay! Also, unofficial builds from source will not be supported. You assume all responsibility for anything that may happen and Team Validus cannot and will not be held responsible for anything that may happen to your device as a result of flashing a rom.
*FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK*
NOT WORKING:
-Netflix
-HBO
-Stock CM camera
(Please install your favourite 3rd party camera app)
I use this one - https://www.dropbox.com/s/0plljcutwn02lq7/CameraNext.apk?dl=0
It takes Very Nice pictures (for a tablet camera)...Video is choppy similar to the cm12 build.
-You tell us
Official:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347756771
06/04/15
-DPI is set to 222 Going any lower may cause rotation FC.... IF YOU WANT A SMALLER KEYBOARD INSTALL TBO SUPER SWIFTKEY.
-YOU MUST INSTALL A THIRD PARTY CAMERA ON THIS BUILD... VIDEO CAM AND FRONT CAM WORK FOR SKYPE ETC... BUT VIDEO RECORDING IS VERY CHOPPY... DO NOT TRY THE CM CAMERA AS YOUR TABLET WILL JUST REBOOT.
BaNKs Gapps 5.1.x (06/13/15)
http://fitsnugly.euroskank.com/?rom=banks&device=gapps
Make sure you have the latest TWRP or Philz Recovery for the SM t310 [lt01wifi] (I prefer Philz as TWRP 2.8.3.0 gave me some backup issues)
Wipe data/Factory Reset
Flash Validus
Flash Gapps (I prefer BaNKs gapps)
Reboot...
Enjoy!
Here's a good place to start for CM12 themes. https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/112270486113315228704
****Please Undertand that the CM12 Theme Engine is in its early stages and some things may not work or function as they should. Use at your own risk and don't complain about themes in this thread. Using any part of the theme engine may cause System Ui FC. Our Team has worked really hard to theme this ROM the way we like it....The CM team has to get their theme engine bugs worked out, we are just happy to have it in there to play around with for now.....
Sorry, but no one on our team has the 311...We only build for devices we own and can test....I am just a graphics guy on the team...I don't build ROMs....The only reason the 310 gets built, is because i have one....If you can find someone that has the 311 and builds, they are more than welcome to build and maintain Validus though...
OP has been updated...new build is up with working camera,
I also recommend installing "next camera" as it works great on the t310 ...
enjoy!
Sorry you are having these issues. First of all, which tablet do you have? The Lt01wifi does not have DATA. This build is for the SM-t310 WIFI ONLY tablet. Did you create a nandroid backup of whatever you were running before flashing Validus? If you did you can simply go to recovery, wipe and restore. As for your issues you speak of, I'm kind of lost as my tablet is running great and WIFI is working as good as it ever has. If you read the thread before flashing you would of read that Netflix and HBOgo or whatever are still broken. Google movies and Youtube and pretty much everything else does work. If your WIFI isn't working properly i would check your modem at home and restart it. I use my tablet both at home and at my place of business and Wifi works great at both locations.
I also don't ever use pa gapps....I use Banks.....there is a link to the banks gapps in the OP.....The latest are 1/19/15 i believe.
You are also on a older build....the latest build with working camera etc is dated 1/26/15 .....It was just added last night....
Hi... just installed this rom and works flawlessly so far. Also new user on this roms, always used stock roms mostly. One question, is it possible to add different users to the tablet? I can't find the place, but for sure it's possible. I'll keep on digging on menu's. Thanks in advance for cooperation.
