i'm interested in buying the nokia 515 3.5g. it's made for europe i think.
it supports these network bands.
Cellular connectivity
GSM network: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz
GSM max data speed DL: EGPRS 236.8 kbps
GSM max data speed UL: EGPRS 236.8 kbps
WCDMA network: Band 1 (2100 MHz), Band 8 (900 MHz)
WCDMA max data speed DL: 7.2 Mbps (Cat 8)
WCDMA max data speed UL: 5.76 Mbps (Cat 6)
what US carrier could i get 3g service from? i know i can get 2g on tmobile/att, but would either support 3g on this phone?

1900 MHz would get you 3G on T-Mobile and At&t

Below spec cut and paste from HTC website. Is that consider a CDMA model?
Network HSPA/WCDMA:
*
Europe/Asia: 900/2100 MHz
*
Up to 2 Mbps up-link and 7.2 Mbps down-link speeds
Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
*
Europe/Asia: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
(Band frequency, HSPA availability, and data speed are operator dependent.)
No, that's the GSM-only version.
depends on your carrier... if you are Sprint, Telus, or Verizon its CDMA. Otherwise its GSM
Thanks for the reply. I am from Singapore BTW.
Subabia,
You definately have a GSM not CDMA.
WCDMA is not the same thing as CDMA. WCDMA is synonymous with UMTS which is 3G for GSM networks.
hi i'm uk based and on o2 network.
i read o2 uses bandwith
900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE
1,800 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE
900 MHz UMTS/HSDPA/HSPA+
2,100 MHz UMTS/HSDPA/HSPA+
phone i have just now most of time i see "H" sign and internet speed is fine.
new phone i look to buy is from china (jiayu g3 or g4) and works on
g3:
Network Band: GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz & WCDMA 850/2100MHz
Data Technology: GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, HSPA+, 3G
g4:
Band 2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
3G: WCDMA 2100MHz
will it be on "H" here in the uk if i use o2 network?
i dont want to buy this phone and then is slow speeds 2g and 3g
Does the relay have a 900 mhz band for 3g ?
In my country we don't use 850 mhz for hdpda (3g), the droid 4 uses this band (but is more expenive) , but how about the relay 4g ?
wikipedia isn't straight:
UMTS bands I (UMTS 2100), II (1900), IV (1700/2100/AWS), and V (850) are supported
and
3G UMTS/HSPA+ – 850, 900, 1,700, 1,900, 2,100 MHz

It doesn't look like the relay supports 900mhz 3g. You would be probably limited to 2g EDGE on 900mhz.

Proximus deploys both band 1 and band 8: http://www.wireless.att.com/travelguide/coverage/coverage_details.jsp?CIDL=56&MNC=CING
I always thought most places if there's band 8 there's band 1, rarely seen band 8 alone.
This may have been answered elsewhere, but I can't find it.
Just trying to understand something. I'm wondering if I can get a better signal with Tmobile if I use a phone that has a 1900 band on the 4G network. What I'm saying is, it looks like the Skyrocket doesn't support Band 2 for LTE on Tmobile's network. Is this correct? Does flashing your radio affect which bands you use for 3G vs 4G?
I'm supposedly "in the service area" for LTE on Tmobile, is why I ask, but I have never gotten a signal until I go closer to town. I'm within the edge of the "coverage" map. I realize those maps are optimistic. Have always used this phone here, but ATT works for people and the towers are in the same location as far as I know. Rural area.
Thanks for any help :fingers-crossed:
Skyrocket's bands are:
i727(r) freg's:
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
4G Network LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 1700 / 2100
Tmobile uses:
LTE Frequencies:
1700 MHz & 2100 MHz AWS band 4
1900 MHz PCS band 2 (in refarmed areas)
Lower 700 MHz band 12 (in development) / in service in selected areas
3G/4G Frequencies (WCDMA):
1700 MHz & 2100 MHz AWS band 4
1900 MHz PCS band 2 (in refarmed areas)
2G Frequencies (GSM/GPRS/EDGE):
1900 MHz PCS band 2

The reason I ask is because I'm on T-Mobile, and in my area, I can't get 4G inside some of the coverage map. I am assuming that I don't get Band 2 for T Mobile, which uses 1900 Mhz PCS. However, Tmobile also uses 1900 for 2G and 3G, which the Skyrocket supposedly supports. Am I missing something? Thanks. :good:
